Commons are usually some of the cheapest cards in Magic: the Gathering, but sometimes even Commons can be in such high demand and/or be so rare that they cost a significant chunk of change! In this video, I look at the 10 Green Commons that have the highest price tag.

Forest Bear looks like he had his picture taken while riding a rollercoaster
Easiest way to predict if you'll be an expensive green card: were you painted by Rebecca Guay?
Is it a factor? Possible future video.
@@Pararoid99 It was more of a joke comment but I do know of people who collect all the cards that were painted by her, so it might actually have some truth to it, would be interesting to find out!
Didn't they ban her?
@@AdrianvonZiegler I remember people collecting her cards 25 years ago, so maybe!
@@amtracktrack4963 I think you're thinking of Therese Nielson (Rhystic Study is her most famous piece arguably, and if not its her island). Rebecca Guay still has a decent relationship with WOTC, and she'll come back occasionally, but her art career has evolved beyond it
I love that multiple bears made it onto the green common list!
Deglamer is for targeting indestructible artifact lands in pauper.
It’s also a good way to deal with altar tron that bypasses their graveyard recursion.
Rebecca Guay kills it with expensive green commons. Great art for cool cards.
Deglamer is specially good against Kenku Artificer's affected artifact since you usually put the counters in an indestructible artifact land. It's also used to shut down recursive artifact combos. Rancor barely sees any play in pauper.
it hurts my heart when I think about how many Urza's Block cards I used to have and over the years I've lost or had to sell my collection multiple times over.
Sad man. I only played during mirrodon besieged like 2011 after vs ended.
I had a Shivan dragon though
You would be surprised if you look through the bulk bin of your local shop what you can find.
Nice
Wow I’d never seen Mobilize before but that art is stunning. Guay is the GOAT, I can’t believe Wizards moved away from her style 💔💔💔
Now they hire actual League of Legends splash artists. 🤢
@@AkukAkuku if by “LoL splash artists” you mean lazy hacks that mostly just use AI, then yes
@@overtonwindowshopper No, I mean actual artists who draw LoL splash arts. Check out Rakish Scoundrel.
Having plainswalk is pretty rare.
Top ten cards with plainswalk
Homelands All-Star Aysen Highway gives all white creatures plainswalk, easy #1
@@cax1175 agreed. Honorable mention to Old Fogey.
I don't think there even are ten cards with plainswalk.
Priest of titania was also printed on mistery box. That's where i got the copies I have. It was a huge set, but it still provided a good amount of them. God i Miss those mistery drafts. cool set! First "commander masters" ever printed
Fairly confident Mobilize would see more play if it was reprinted. Some cards are just so rare commander players don’t even know they exist so they don’t put them in their decklists.
It’s 8 dollars it’s not that rare lol
@@professionalhater3929 it actually is that rare. Have fun tracking one down without ordering it from a website.
Kids these days are spoiled something special.
this list is positively unbearable.
Oh, Mewobiba, you've done it again.
Awful. Horrible joke.
Actually there's at least 2 bears in it.
I love that pun! Please, continue sharing your genius
@@jonothanthrace1530 Wasn't expecting a Drawfee reference on a Nizzahon video
My goodness, I found a Nizzahon video seconds into it being posted! Awesome channel, love all the magic info you put together.
@2:27 i LOVE how Map the Frontier is just sliding in there 😂😉 i actually started adding MtF in multi color commander with green and adding those new dual lands as they are all deserts.
Avoid Fate is cute and all, but is outclassed by every one-green protective instant since Snakeskin Veil, which was a bitter pill when I first built my Ayula EDH lol
I guess technically Avoid Fate got a power level erratum when they did away with the "Interrupt" type. Probably not too many cards that can say that. (Other than when they introduced planeswalkers and probably errata'd "target creature or player" to "any target".)
40% Rebecca Guay. 👏👏👏
I wonder how the MH3 reprint will effect Priest of Titania's price.
I bet Avoid Fate wouldn't be as expensive without that bright, shiny Foglio art.
Something feels right about grizzly bear (by any other name) topping the list.
I am not surprised so many cards made it on the list because of rarity alone.
While green's average strength is completely fine its peak strength has always been lacking.
Other colors have these insane single cards that can turn the tide of a game at pretty much any rarity - while green's standout cards are
ramp
costed too fairly because green can ramp
long term value cards
or cards that need specific other cards to function - even in this list we have an ooze-only and an elves-only card.
(3:42) I have two Slimes Against Humanity. I'd need like a few dozen more if I wanted to make a dedicated slime deck, though. :P
(5:03) I happen to already own a couple of Moment's Peace cards from the past.
(6:20) There may or may not be a Golden Bear in my dad's Portal: Second Age binder. I honestly have no idea, and I'm too lazy to check right now.
(7:32) It seems really weird that this strictly inferior mana dork has such a high price.
(8:00) Oh, so that's the reason.
(8:37) I own an Avoid Fate from Time Spiral, which I think came in a Slivers pre-con.
(10:31) I happen to already own a Priest of Titania from the past as well. I'm thinking of putting it in my Voja deck.
(11:59) Actually, Modern Horizons III will be the first time it's printed at uncommon, and otherwise, all versions are common except for a Friday Night Magic 2003 one.
(12:12) And of course, Portal: Three Kingdoms shows up again. Forest Bear looks like it just got told to put its hands up in the air by a cop. :P
Favorite magic youtuber, like a Gandalf or Dumbledore for mtg
Seton is pronounced “See - tuhn “ as in the SEA weighs a TON.
As a member of the Seton lineage, I consider myself an expert in this particular instance
Having portal 3 kingdom cards at the top feels cheaty and takes away the mystery of these type of lists 😅
The funny thing about Three Visits is when it was reprinted for the first time i picked up the OG one for less then $10. I just wanted the original art.
Love seeing Three Kingdoms cards finally get their spotlight. Love that Three Visits is actually a good card cause it’s like an iconic part of the book. Liu Bei, soon to be leader of one of the titular Three Kingdoms is at an impasse and he’s told to seek the Sleeping Dragon if he wishes to realize his ambitions. Kongming (The Sleeping Dragon) was the special name of Zhuge Liang an intellectual Sage living out in the country. Liu Bei and his sworn brothers attempted to visit his thatched roof hut but were always unsuccessful and turned away, but upon the third visit he finally gets an audience and he recruits him as his strategist and Kongming reveals his plan/prediction of China being split into 3. Kongming definitely gets a lot of lines and starts superseding Liu Bei as one of the main characters. (Especially when Liu Bei dies)
If you made this list just a year or 2 ago Utopia Sprawl was ranging from 7-10 dollars.
I'm really glad for Utopia Sprawl's reprinting as a Wilds of Eldraine Enchanting Tales card, allowing me to get a few of them for quite cheap compared to what its price used to be.
I love seeing cards like Avoid Fate which are super old versions of by now commonly printed effects, it's essentially their first attempt at the one mana instants green gets nowadays that give hexproof and indestructible.
Forest Bear came with twins!
Cool EDH idea
Priest of Titania + New Bear Commander that makes ALL creatures bears = LOTS of mana
I actually have many of those. No complete playset, but like one or two.
Good to know they are actually worth something.
Couldn't be more different from the blue list - fascinating
Golden Bear also sees play it Ruxa decks in commander.
LOL I have golden bear, the woodland mystic, priest of titania, all given to me because they were common back in the days
Forrest Bear: "okay wait...wait...wait wait wait...wait...waaaaaaaait. Wait."
Plainswalk, not to be confused with Planeswalk.
Priest of Titania both can get infinite mana in tons of ways and is particularly _funny_ AGAINST Changeling decks :D
I run a non blue counterspell deck with Saskia as the commander, but even Avoid Fate is a bit too specific.
The flavor text for Forest Bear confuses me. Bears regularly eat fish, surely they can have both fish and bear paws?
I have like 11 Priest of Titania should I keep or sell? 😥😥
This list is the Rebecca Guay list (being green it's not surprising)
09:07 any theories on why that is?
I am guessing Priest of Titania, Rancor, Werebear...
Rebecca Guay repping 3 cards on this list!
Don't sleep on zodiac rooster. It is a 2 mana plainswalker, after all.
My collection is a moonshot! ❤🎉
how about doing these Most Expensive lists but excluding cards that only have 1 normal printing?
Rebecca Guay arts rules!!!
Ahhhh green, it's one of my favourite colours because, well, oonga boonga creatures. And while I don't think any of these cards would make it onto "Top 10 Vintage Cards (Minus Power 9)", I do think that they're still very awesome!
Forest Bear is the 1st card that comes to mind, an epic card if there is, right??
Most Expensive Commons: Rebecca Guay LOL
3 mins ago, I’m gonna guess the portal chicken. I had one a few years ago and it was like 7$
Of course zodiac rooster is expensive, it's a 2 mana plainswalker. 🤭
I'm surprised that not ALL the commons are reserved list or from ABU4H
Rancor used to be on the list... Then they reprinted it into the ground
9:09 I think it is because for a long time green was the worst color of magic, so many of the old green cards (especially commons) weren't very good (relative to other colors) so scarcity is going to be their main drive in price. As the good green cards tend to be newer and thus less scarce and less expensive.
No Tamiyo's, must be too new.
The demand for Deglamer has absolutely nothing to do with Rancor. It's so awkward to hear that from a Pauper player perspective! Deglamer's popularity is due to the indestructible artifact lands from Modern Horizons that heavily impacted the format - along with the fact that it can hit REALLY important auras like Ancestral Mask, All that Glitters, Ethereal Armor, or other important artifacts.
The irony of pauper making commons out of reach.
I haven't touched my elves in a long time, looks like priest has aged nicely. Lol
Avoid fate is not good. People assume a green counter spell must be good cause green doesn’t normally get counter spellls but a card like Tamiyo’s Safekeeping can do everything Avoid Fate does and more.
Top 10 Crappy Cards That Are Only Expensive Because They Were Exclusive To Portal Sets 😩
Magic the gathering is weird.... nothing is more powerful than "untap all your creatures" normally. And mobilize ain't played as much as Sol Ring?? Why not?? In VS system, "untap all" is a Fantastic Four limited card named "Cosmic Radiation" In VS system mobilize is the ultimate searcher card says : "Discard a charcter card, search your deck for a character cad with the same affiliation". A tutor that puts the card in your hand.
Shit like Skyshroud Claim exists and people are still putting Cultivate and Kodamas Reach in their decks. I'll never fucking understand it. They're like 50 fucking cards down the list. Straight fucking unplayable.
When you often say "rarity" in these videos I think you'd be better off saying "scarcity" to avoid confusion with card rarities.
First
If you suck at the actual game play Arena and spend. Let the system rig the game to let you win 😂
