I just played sanic farces cause its free for psplus this month and I quoted this line to a friend due to how funny it was when I heard it. Glad to see I wasn't the only one who thought this was hilarious.

The audience was really interactive through this. They would constantly make jokes with the hosts and are always really supportive the whole time

damn! a lot of the skips seemed a lot cooler than what the game makes you go through. like something Sonic would do, just zoom right over buildings across massive gaps right on to rails.

With the fact that Forces speedruns rely on the Rental Avatar system, I wonder if anyone has seen their avatar get plucked for part of a run.
I make sure to equip the avatar I'm using with a drill when I'm not playing to try to get mine used
These speedruns actually make this game look fun
Considering the fact that this game takes about 3 hours to complete casually, it's only fitting that people would start speedrunning it.

A clue the game was designed poorly. Levels that are more playable when the players use out of bounds skips to avoid cutscenes than without.

When you look past their flaws, even games like Sonic Forces, Sonic 06, and Sonic Boom look good while doing a speedrun...
I mean they were already short and/or glitchy as hell... It's perfect for speedrunning in a sense...
Yeah, I've never played sonic forces myself but this run makes it look pretty fun (I've heard from enough sources to be sure that it really isn't great lol).
Forces ain't the best, but it also isn't the worst. I don't rank it down on that same level as Sonic Boom RoL or Sonic 06, but I'd say it's more in the range where games like Sonic Heroes, Lost World, and Unleashed (I know people really like Unleashed and Heroes, but those games are in the middle for me tbh. To me, at least Forces doesn't take forever to simply get to the end due to filler content. Not saying Forces is worth that price they're asking for either.)

This applies to both episodes of Sonic 4 as well. Their mechanics, physics and some of the priorities behind the level design aren't the best, but the level design isn't bad at all and the air dash alongside the different routes allow for a lot of cool speedruns imo

Man it's been a long time since I've seen a sonic game where the speed run strats, design, physics, and tools let you do stuff as cool as the Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 speed runs. I didn't realize how much I was craving something like this.

I was honestly surprised to see this become part of the event. This was good fun, truly impressive to see some incredible skips pulled off given the suffocating nature of the levels. Also, was it just me, or did I witness slowdown by the game as it was trying to maintain all of the, uh, high-speed action? Is Sonic Forces really a well-oiled machine...? Hehehehehehe, sorry, great run. Thank you, AGDQ.

Colors did have the yellow vanishing platforms but unleashed did it first in eggmanland.

How to speedrun Sonic Forces:
1. Hold boost button.
2. Nothing. That's literally it.
Alternative method next:
Play the game casually. An average playthrough of Sonic Forces is about 3 hours. It may not be a great speedrun but it's basically a speedrun.

I've changed my opinion on this game thanks to watching speedruns of it and giving it a replay. This is probably right up there with Generations for me, now that I've learned to stop worrying and love the drill. (To be clear, writing has never been part of my assessment of a Sonic game. At least as of now, the writing is an excuse to get you to go fast in the next stage.)

Seems most of the couch commentary and people in the comments here are cracking jokes about the game which is fair, it's definitely got a good number of issues, but I can't deny that I had fun with this game when blasting through at max speed and getting used to using the boost or drop dash to improve my time on certain levels. Watching this does make me want to play it some more, I never really used the Drill Wisp so it oughta be fun to test that out.
Took me 2 hours to beat in my my first play though it’s a really short game that basically plays its self.
I love this game only with modding. Like longer level and new physics mod.
