Miraculous scene! Jack Nicholson introducing Bob Dylan with such an enthusiasm! And Dylan singing one of the iconic songs with Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood! All the applauses are not enough. Thanks.
You got that right , word has it they were partying all night. But Bob as the supper professional he is can come out with always great performance. But looking at Keith and Ronnie its easy to tell 😅
Ron Wood: ‘In New York, towards the middle of 1985, Bob Dylan rang to ask if I wanted to do a charity gig with him. "Sure," I said. He showed up at my house to talk about what songs we might do. Bob was showing me chords when I suggested getting Keith involved. Dylan agreed, so I rang Keith, two hours later the doorbell rang, and there was Keith saying: "So what do you want?" I said: "Bob is downstairs, be nice to him." He followed me in and threw open his arms: "Bob...So great to see you!" The three of us started rehearsing and got through pretty much the whole Dylan catalogue. On the day of the gig, a limo came to pick up Keith and me. Before we got in, a truck pulled up with Dylan on board - the driver was his daughter. Keith looked at me and said: "This better be f****** good." It was better than good, it was Live Aid. There were 72,000 people at Wembley Stadium in London, and 92,000 when we played at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia, plus 1.5billion people watching on TV in a hundred countries, all to help raise funds for famine relief in Ethiopia. On the stairs up to the stage, Bob said: "Let's do Blowin' In The Wind." I said: "What?" But by then it was too late to argue. I couldn't believe it: that was the only song of his we hadn't rehearsed. Right in the middle of it, one of Bob's guitar strings broke. I thought fast and handed my guitar to him, leaving me there in front of all those people, playing air guitar. I was eventually handed another guitar, and when we finished our last song we turned around to find the entire cast on stage behind us’.
The backstory makes this car crash of a performance even funnier. It takes the combination of Ronnie, Baawb and Keef to fuck things up so brilliantly. Gotta love them!
I've grown old now. But I also grew up during on of the best times to be born into. What a time to be young. Watching all the wonderful things from that era come into focus. The social changes...the cool cars and to some degree the early marijuana days... but mostly the music. The music. Watching these treasures brings back the memories from those times. They carry me back to a time of great hope. And prosperity....How lucky we were to be there. And as Paul Simon says in a song about old friends... "preserve your memories...they're all that's left you". And these poets singing their music. They trigger those memories again. What a great way to grow old. I'm so grateful to have landed here, back then.

Bob Dylan playing a Don Musser dreadnought. Don's made a few for Neil Young and me too. Good guitars . Good company. Then Bob breaks a string and Ron Wood cooly passes him his Martin and goes off stage to get another Martin while Keith Richards plays with Bob on his Martin. Ron returns with another Martin, that's 3, and they continue to an attentive audience. While they can't hear themselves well on these acoustics, they keep going to the appreciation of their live audience and huge worldwide audience watching on screens. How cool is that! Three heavies with 3 Martins, playing the song of a generation, Blowing in the Wind, introduced by Jack Nickleson. Wow! One flew over the coocoo's nest! Indeed!
Ronnie Wood paints, too. There's a documentary of the Stones doing a tour down in South American and Wood talks about it, and talks about painting with some local dude down there.
Great show. It's funny how Dylan went electric at the Newport Folk Festival, and yet here at Live Aid not only he but Keith Richards and Ron Wood all go acoustic. I'll never forget Live Aid!
@@dortega12 that's debatable. I'd say he's comparable to Dylan. And I'm a big Silvio fan. Of his non political songs, of course. The beauty of Dylan is that he managed to tell a story and promote justice and freedom without taking sides. He was and is, his own man.
"Blowin' in the Wind" was the first acoustic tune I ever heard. My babysitter Barbara played it on her guitar for me when I was four. I still remember it. I am now playing and writing acoustic tunes probably because of that moment. Thanks, Bob, for the inspiration.
I was 15 when Live Aid happened. I remember I watched the whole thing. This is the first time I've seen this performance since it happened. This song and Queens performance are the only ones that I truly remembered. Good to finally see this again.
Can't stop listening to it, can't stop crying. it's an incredible achievement - a wake, not just to JFK but the hope for a world that would one day be more free that died with him, timing of the release is perfect
Maybe all drunk, stoned or too less sleep, somehow amazing strange for such great musicians. I saw it live in those days. Thanks for uploading, I always was searching for it
If I recall correctly Live Aid was a concert to raise funds for famine stricken people in East Africa in 1980s. Great Job done by organisers and performers. I'm a retired brigadier of Pakistani Army, 82 years old, and enjoy listening to music from my youth. Sher Khan
They are the most respected peoples in the world. People all over the world should know from his smile and every wrinkle in his face what matters most.
'I'm still waiting for Keith Richards's solo'..... Do you not think it might be a little difficult to play a 'solo' on an acoustic guitar in a vast stadium ? Is there a solo in the original song ?
I've been following Zimmerman since about 1964. He inspired me to take up guitar and singing. He proved that if you can't sing or play guitar , it doesn't matter !
why say that? you think it will make you look smart ? you think you are too cool to compliment one of if not the most prolific songwriters of all time so you will attack his singing and guitar playing. Anybody smarter than a can opener would realize he changed his name to bob dylan because that is what he wanted to be called. Everybody respects this and ever since he is just bob dylan to everybody. But not you, because you think it makes you cool to call him by a name he disliked so much that he changed it over 60 years ago? bad news for you pal, doing that is just like the pathetic tools who go on things like imdb and say stupid shit about some of the best films/film makers of all time
The beautiful heart tone of this performance was really sincere and tender. All of the performance was touched with depth. The music, the delivery, Keith's strong stability and the easy as can be guitar switching by Ronnie, and the wonderful close ups of Bob Dylan singing so perfectly. Even Jack Nicholson's introduction, is just perfect. This was so authentic as a message and such a great performance. These people knocked it out of the park for me. It was too notch!
GLAD TO HAVE SEEN THESE THREE LEGENDS ALL TOGETHER, PROBABLY WON’T EVER HAPPEN AGAIN. YES RONNIE WOOD WAS SMOOTH AS SILK THE GUITAR SWITCH. KOOL DUDE FOR SURE.
Back in 1978, when the single of "Baby Stop Crying" crawled its way into the Top 20 of the UK Singles chart, this song was my introduction to Bob Dylan's music. I was one of those who bought the single, and it has been a 'go to' Dylan recording for me ever since. It was the key to the door! There isn't a live version of this song in '78 that I don't like, though it was delivered in a noticeably less declamatory style (and with more feeling I think) in the first leg of the '78 World Tour. Dylan is still touring in '24, and I live in hope that he will revisit "Baby Stop Crying" one day!
39 years later and all three of them are still going strong. How impressive
Bob Dylan busting a string and Ron Wood giving him his guitar and then fetches another for himself. Priceless.
It was kinda stupid. Bob is only strumming. You can play chords on 3 strings, let alone 5
He's a generation bellow , coming from the Beatnik era ! !
one of these has won a Nobel prize - but all - are brilliant
And brilliantly stoned.
Even better is when Ron comes back he steps away from the mic and listens to the guitar before going ahead and playing!!!!
OMG…Bob Dylan…leader of the pack! Love you Bobby!

"not valued in the 2000's"? Have you been under a rock or are you only ten? He has been admired and respected since the 60's.

Muito top!❤
Sou fã do Bob Dylan ao infinito 🤝🙏
Tenho 2 filhos um 15 anos, ou de 10 anos! Todos os 2 já são fã n um do Bob Dylan ❤
Bob is the greatest modern music writer of our history!
Paul Simon and Fogerty have something to say about it.
@@aaronaragon7838 Bob won an oscar
Winning an Oscar for Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid.
Beautiful version of one of Mark’s favorite songs. You are so talented Pierce! I always enjoy listening to you!❤️
Bob Dylan playing a Don Musser dreadnought.
Indeed!
June2024….still listening.
Discovered recently that Bob Dylan literally IS an artist cos he does limited edition paintings.
Clearly a man of MANY talents !
Ronnie Wood paints, too. There's a documentary of the Stones doing a tour down in South American and Wood talks about it, and talks about painting with some local dude down there.
Lord help our Country. History is repeating itself. Relevant Song 2021
Hello Stormy how are you doing?
There can only be one ! What a line up🎉🎉🎉Jack Nicholsen,Bob Dylan,Keith Richards ,Ron Wooda🎉🎉🎉The voice of America! 🎉🎉🎉Excellent performance!🎉🎉🎉
Love this Song because my teacher played it on guitar for my 5th grade class ❤ Great memory’s ❤
Great show. It's funny how Dylan went electric at the Newport Folk Festival, and yet here at Live Aid not only he but Keith Richards and Ron Wood all go acoustic. I'll never forget Live Aid!
God that is just so beautiful! Thank you all so much!
Hi,how is the weather today,i hope is good?
A pretty good singer. A pretty good performer. The greatest songwriter who has ever lived.
Neil Diamond wrote much better songs although he no longer writes good songs.
@@ndhan72 🤔🤨🤣🤣🤣
The greatest songwriter that ever lived it’s Silvio Rodríguez from Cuba.
Finally somebody says it...Neal Diamond deserves a Nobel Prize.
@Ronnie Wood if this is really you or someone who represents you. I'm honored. But thanks. Stones fan for life.
Gentleman , thank you! Never Never to be repeated! Lightining in a bottle.
How many guys does it take to play this?! 🤦🏽♂️ Albeit 3 friggin legends 👏🏽
I sang this in the high school folk band. I love this song.
abi çok yaşa! ❤
If Jack is introducing you, then your in the Big Leagues!
Thanks for uploading, I always was searching for it
They were not stoned : they could not hear themselves because behind the curtain the baby was tuning up ,!
@@RocketKirchner yeah, thats easily possible too, I know what it means if you can't hear you on Stage. Amazing great anyway
Jack Nicholson being sincere: Some artists speak for their generation... It can only be one man, the Transcendent, ....."!
I'm still waiting for Keith Richards's solo
We all have for 50 year's
Richard was able to stand upright? LOL
'I'm still waiting for Keith Richards's solo'..... Do you not think it might be a little difficult to play a 'solo' on an acoustic guitar in a vast stadium ? Is there a solo in the original song ?
@@Unsung_Earth Why ? Is he not known for being a rhythm guitarist ? And the writer of some of the greatest rock records ever.
Bob looked at Ron Wood and shrugs. Ronnie smiles.
Those were the days for sure. Fantastic!!!!
Well children, I think we can all agree that was a really good try by Bob, Keith and Ron, and we wish them well on their musical careers.
Une chanson phare..... 💥💥💖💖💕💕🔆🔆❗❗❕❕‼‼🌞🌞🌞🌞
Welche tolle, spannende ansage, welch ein hochgenuss, danke fürs teilen, lg
Glad I was born when I was to live through such times.
A brilliant introduction by a great artist introducing an amazing and a man whom is an anachronism❗💋
Absolutely brilliant never again will we have such greatness together on stage fantastic
And that's a real blessing!
This is most definitely a musical treat. This is a musical experience that is absolutely priceless and epic. 🎉🎉
This feeling, standing and singing on this stage ... must be the best
I like how Keith with that final chord, bows. Probably has done that thousands of times.
You must be ironical. They were completly stoned, barely standing on their feet,,, they must have met their friend Jack, Daniels and Mari Juana
GLAD TO HAVE SEEN THESE THREE LEGENDS ALL TOGETHER, PROBABLY WON’T EVER HAPPEN AGAIN.
YES RONNIE WOOD WAS SMOOTH AS SILK THE GUITAR SWITCH. KOOL DUDE FOR SURE.
I meant to say "top notch" -sm
I Am Glad Bobby Dylan Acknowledged Ronny Wood and excuseme moi Kieth
