Been a fan since 1965 when my boyfriend introduced me to Dylan’s music. We married and over the years saw Bob in concert many times. My husband of 57 years died a year ago. My son and I went and saw this incredible film. We both cried as we knew my husband would have just loved it too
Loved Bob Dylan since introduced by a friend who had styled himself on Bob hairstyle, clothes, guitar and motorbike was mesmerised by him. Went riding on the bike with him (scared to death) but trusted him.. Was only 18 fascinated me would listen to Dylan for hours in end 1965 - 1967 when I moved away.. This movie took me back to those times, places people knew back then LOVED it ❤❤❤😮
Non Dylan fan here. Went to see this because I’m a huge Tim fan. And I left the movie falling in love with Dylan and his music. I don’t think there is anything better I can say. Every single song and moment is beautiful
Absolutely loved this film. I'm 64, have followed Dylan's music since I was about 14, seen him play live a number of times, watched all the documentaries, read the books, etc. The weird thing about Complete Unknown is that everything unfolded more or less exactly as it has done in my imagination across the last 50-years. I feel like a massive artistic mountain has been climbed by the director, actors, designers and just about everyone else who had anything to do with the movie's production. Bravo!
This movie..... I can't even watch this broadcast without welling up with tears. The work and the spirit behind the production, the music, the actors, the man-Dylan. Incredible. A time capsule of greatness.
The amazing thing for me is that the real icon, Bob Dylan, is still with us, at 83....If the book of life is really brief [Don MacLean song], then Bob must have been granted some appendixes..... :)
@johnnyjohnson2268A couple of years ago I saw him at the Orpheum in Memphis and he looked and sounded awesome for an 81 year old. No bad habits for years I think, and still beats on that punching bag.
@@melodymakermark Yeah, top marks to all; Nice to hear from you on this...But compare [LIVE PERFORMANCES] ofJoe Cocker at Montreux on 06/Oct/1987 -- with James Cotton on harmonica -- with Bob Dylan at The Halls Wolverhampton England, and you'll hear that Joe Cocker blows Watching The River Flow out of the river basin, I mean, he really licks it man from top to bottom...
A wonderful film about a singular musical genius, there is nobody in history like Bob Dylan . This movie does the impossible, it pleases fans, non fans and most importantly Bob himself.
It is so nice that we can buy a ticket on a time machine for only twelve bucks these days. This film brought back strong memories, not the least of which was my scoring two tickets to the first Johnny Cash Show performance at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville in 1969 when Bob was Johnny's first guest. (That show also included Doug Kershaw and Joni Mitchell). That show was Bob's first public performance in three years after a horrible motorcycle accident had made him a hermit. The line for that show was eight blocks long, and most of the ticketless people there just wanted to stand outside the Ryman and listen to the show on tinny speakers mounted on the Ryman wall. Good times.
Knowing about that motorcycle crash I had this terrible feeling when he first road off on it. Too soon - could have lost him in the cradle of greatness.
agree Ed Norton is pure genius - love him in movies and he was amazing as Pete Seeger - love Ed Norton . Great movie and he his chemistry in the movie with the cast was perfect.
I can't remember when I've enjoyed a movie as much as this. It transported me to another world and I constantly forgot I was watching a movie and sometimes forgot I was in a theatre! I saw it twice in opening week to help the numbers. Everyone who helped create this should be proud beyond measure! Congratulations! I can't wait until I can buy a copy of this and watch it whenever I want. P.S. If Timothy doesn't want to give up all that he's learned - then please go on tour and play a Dylan cover show in some smaller venues. I'd buy a ticket no matter what it cost!
There’s so much heart in this film. Heart from the producers, crew, and actors! Doesn’t need to be filmed on VistaVision or be exceedingly long to be great. This was the film of the year!
Wow, really unnecessary shade to The Brutalist. Have you seen it?! I've seen it and A Complete Unknown and both are emotionally nuanced film and my favorites of the year.
Such a great film, I can't wait to see it again. One thing this film does that is miraculous is make it compelling both to hardcore Dylanologists such as myself, who understand and appreciate all the attention to detail you discuss, such as the studio equipment, Greenwich Village signs, clothing, etc., and to newbies, such as my kids, who know some of the tunes I've been playing around the house for years but don't know all the legendary Dylan lore. My kids and I love the film equally. Bravo to all involved.
There were no monitors used @ Newport. That whole stage set could have easily been made more true to form. Crowd size too for that matter. At least they got a fingernail shot .
This film is so organic and refreshing. It is a celebration of music and a coming of age story of sorts, not just for the characters but also music itself. Highly recommend. ❤ The dedication of all the actors is so impressive. Just wow
I can't say enough about this film. i wasn't interested in a "factual" film. but the film captures the spirit of this era, of this (no, these) remarkable, iconic talents. i confess to having many emotional 'moments'; i cried for what we've lost, i wince at the idiocy of the present era, the willful blindness, this "...never let reality get in the way of my ego.." mindset that rules the day. a hard rain's gonna fall. thank you to all who worked on this film. you got it right!

Thank you John for this inspiring comment. I went alone to see it, curious, but never expected the depth, as you described!! By the end, i was shout singing the closing song as the credits rolled, and surprisingly inspired others who joined in. The film has power! They presented him, in this period of his life, very well.
@@johnoudyk656 In Hawai’i no less. I was born and raised North Hollywood and Dylan was an important figure in my adolescence, and understanding of US politics. Already a skeptic as a native granddaughter with ties to AIM.

He always knows if I enjoyed the movie when I say … “ I wanna see it again!” If this kid doesn’t get an Oscar , it will prove that HOLLYWOOD has no idea what True Talent is!! 🎤🎹🪕🎸🎼
The one and only biopic I was waiting all the last 15 years that I’ve fallen in love with Dylan’s music as a 15yo teenage girl. Watched it today, and it was the best 3 hours spent in the cinema in a long time. My soul cried for the times I haven’t lived through but felt strangely belonging.
Oh wow, haven't seen it yet, but I first heard Dylan in 64 and he immediately became the, THE major force in my life. Through the good years, the bad years, the In between years ~ he was then and continues to be my Pole Star, my Refuge, my Strength and ultimately my weakness ... this movie sure is a trip down memory lane, with buckets of tears. Thanks firstly Dylan, for consenting and thank you Timothée, for a performance worthy of making the movie an Oscar winner on every front ❤️❤️❤️
Watching this, I have a significant experience inside of me that this director and the actors are taking us through a fabulous time machine ride during the greatest era of music in our lives. It's a six-star experience of one of the best times of change, and movement in time.
I am seeing it for a third time this evening -i have NEVER gone to a movie three times in my 54 years of life- this movie is magical- im a music fan... history fan, and love nostogia- this hits it all... BTW my 15 year daughter is coming for a second time tonight- shes been playing Dylan songs in her room.... new fans are emerging! Timothee - you are the only one that could have pulled this off- your dedication to bob, everything about him, learning the music- playing and singing!!!!- you are incredible- im now a fan of YOU!
Anything I write here cannot do this film justice, but I was there in the sixties. Lived through the Cuban missile crisis, JFK's assassination, Bobby Kennedy's murder, Martin Luther King's assassination and the riots which followed. It was a tumultuous time in America's history but through it all there was an undercurrent captured in the music of the time and Dylan was the wellspring. This film captures and transports those who were there back to a time when we were coming of age and finding our way in the world and provides a snapshot of that period through the lens of Bob Dylan's story.
The amount of work put in by everyone involved to create authenticity is ASTONISHING! There is so much to appreciate and admire. One viewing of the film is not enough.
Pls release this movie worldwide. As a long time Dylan fan its heartbreaking I am not able to watch it in big screen 😢 This movie deserves to be release in every inch of the world and trust me it will be love everywhere
What an excellent preview! Suze was loved by Dylan until her death. He was never in love with Joan, as I have read several books on his life. They got involved, made mistakes, but Suze was the love of his life. He married gorgeous Sara, which was his goddess & also great love. He wrote several profoundly touching love songs for her. He made more mistakes. But it is very evident, Suze was never forgotten as the powerful first love of his life. You can see he protected her beyond her death as her real name was not used. How powerful. What love, what powerful mistakes. What a legend, Bob. No one like you will ever grace this planet. Timothee did a beyond excellent performance as I can see from these clips. He deserves an Oscar.
As a Dylanhead, I was delighted this was made, but apprehensive before watching it. Now that I have seen it I was so happy with it and can't wait to watch it agian. You guys did a great job and it was magical to watch. Well done to everyone involved.
I know this will do well at the Oscars but James Mangold better get a best director nomination or I'm gonna break things. Copland, Girl Interrupted, Walk the Line, Logan, Ford v Ferrari and now this. He deserves recognition! 🙏
I was never a Pete Seeger fan, but from the first scene I know this interpretation of Seeger was perfect because it's just like I had imagined him from Barbara Dane records on which I heard him sing and talk.
This is without doubt the finest “biopic” I have ever seen. I felt as if I’d been given the chance to be a fly on the wall at some pivotal moments in history. Everything about this film is totally great.
This has to be one of the finest movies ever filmed. It beautifully portrays one of the most pivotal moments in modern American history and the early life of one of its most important figures. (Note that I didn’t say modern American MUSIC history. This is American history.) Timothee Chalamet should win every award there is for this performance and Monica Barbaro is equally deserving for her performance. This will wind up being a career defining movie for both of them.
The lead actor is a very multi talented young man. ❤❤. Joan is good too. Seen 3 x with my elderly mother who thought the lead actor was bob dylan. This film is authentic and reflects for her age how it was life then. Thank you for a wonderful and moving film. A credit to all those singers these actors portray.
I have not seen the movie, but the genius behind it is enough to imagine the very best in human capacity. I am a singer, who writes his own lyrics over instrumentals I hear and establish collaborations. I sing in the streets and wherever I can get away with it. This introduction to Bob Dylan is inspiring to say the least. Thank you.
Amazing to learn about how this film making happens behind the scenes. So highly professional! Such depth of focus! The sets, the clothes, the microphones. It was a great, moving film with great performances.
Wow oh wow!!!! Incredible job by all. Timothee Chalamet totally embodies Dylan. I can't wait to see this film. I am a huge Dylan fan and I read that Dylan had nothing but praise for the movie and for Chalamet's performance. Kudos to everyone who worked on this amazing film. ♥
Wonderful, perfection, just WOW! A portrayal of a time when the stars seemed aligned, so much energy, hope and belief in a better world. Bob Dylan's words never date and it's time to listen closely again. Beautiful.
❤❤ Love your channel...... okay, I'm a 71 yr. old American who grew up in the 1960's......I was lucky enough to see LED Zeppelin twice as a teenager in the early 1970's. Wish I could have had you up on my shoulders during these two concerts, very memorable indeed. Keep up the good work on your reviews. You are a natural, and so glad you're a rocker, can tell by your reaction during the bridge on Stairway ❤
This film is fantastic, we had to wait until 17th Jan to see it in the UK, and wow loved loved loved it! Now I want to visit all of the filming sites! And love how the tracks are out on music streaming sites, I've played It aint me babe 50 times in two days!!! Brilliant performance all round, thanks so much, you've given such a realistic portrayal of the 60's. Brilliant!
After seeing the film it has my vote as the best movie of the year. The acting is amazing and so authentic. The film elevates as great art should. It is as good a movie for those who have been Dylan fans and those who do not know Dylan or his music and poetry.
Goddam amazing film. Everything about it, everything. The atmosphere, the characters, the music…everything. I’m going again this week. Easily one of my favorite movies ever and definitely the best biopic. Salute to all involved.
A fantastic film, good for the soul, especially in these days of crazyness. Very moving, incredible acting and music performances, I want to see it again.
I cannot wait to see this film. I just cried thru this entire video not only because of the memories I have of Bob back then but the incredible dedication these people had in making this film correct in each and every way possible. It moves me so deeply. Thank you to all who put their hearts and souls into this Masterpiece.
Oscars incoming- hopefully in MANY CATEGORIES including DIRECTOR for James Mangold and Supporting Actress for Monica Barbaro. Mr. Chalamet is going to WIN🎉❤
As much as I love Dylan and his music (and the film), there's also a sad, hard truth to acknowledge. Namely, that part of the reason his lyrics resonate even six decades later is that the country has regressed so significantly, socially and politically. I'm not sure anyone at that time quite anticipated the the depth and breadth of conservative backlash to the 'times a-changin'' so much.
I was amazed at how relevant I found this quote of Dylan‘s the other day out of Sweetheart Like You - Patriotism is the last refuge to which a scoundrel clings. Steal a little and they put you in jail. Steal a lot and they make you king.
@@stevendurrant1724 We definitely have to continue to believe. If people don’t think there is a chance of positive change, then unfortunately far too many will just accept that fact. I do think that people have become far too complacent and far too cynical. But I think there will come a point where they just aren’t gonna take it anymore.
I'm not sure the makers or casually interested people realize how much an impact Dylan had on some of us. It was life-changing. They did good making it, though. Thanks to them.
I never paid much attention to Bob Dylan and never had much connection to his music, this movie gave me a connection and I was surprised how deeply I felt his journey and connected with his life. This movie gave me a powerful connection to the man and his music. Thank you !
Dylans songs came from him learning thousands of songs, reading lots of books and then coming up with similar songs from his point of view. Many of his songs have been studied and people have figured out the musical and lyrical references to older songs.
Wow...now I can't wait to see this film! Thanks for this deep dive preview! Timothee Chalamet has certainly proven his acting chops here, if he hadn't already. I'm 68 now and so I remember the 60s through a good chunk of my childhood & early puberty. Seeing this preview with its authenticity and reminders of THAT time...that decade, is making me kind of sad, ok it's making me VERY SAD...because as crazy & sometimes scary as the 60's were, (it was THE GREATEST ERA FOR MUSIC...like Dylan and so many others) there was much that happened that through the bad, good was pushed out & at least a reason to be more hopeful for a better world and landmark positive & hard won changes occurred. But what the hell are we looking at now? A mentally imbalanced corrupt authoritarian wannabe "president" who has infected every seat of power in this country with his manipulation, threats and 24/7 lies. And the worst is, the most massive gut punch IS that HALF the country voted for this maniac...AGAIN‼️All that's left is "we the people." Pick your pro-democracy activist group, talk to your Trump neighbors & friends if possible, if safe (sadly SAFETY must be considered) and get busy. Organize 🇺🇸🗽Resist. ✌️☮️🕊️ p.s. sorry for a too long comment, & political outrage rant...I attempted to shorten, but... 😥
See the movie. It’s not impersonations or imitation or caricatures. It’s an amazing capture of Dylan’s spirit. Same for Baez and for Pete Seeger. Then go find their music.
great cast - love Ed Norton - Timothee Chalamet - brilliant as BOB DYLAN supported by a beautiful actress playing Joan Baez - beautifully filmed, produced - the music - very deep and inspiring movie - brilliant and love the music.
Loved the movie! Been thinking about it for days. Timothy is amazing as well as his co-stars. AND… It 😊is so cool to see what went into the making of this movie.
Such a great movie! Having grown up at that time and really loving Bob Dylan and his music made the movie even more special. Timothee Chalamet deserves the Oscar. He deserved the golden globe too but got robbed. I was so disappointed.
Funny: we have all worked - and are still working -' at the carnival'. Took up the guitar when I was 7, with Dylan, among other key influences of the day. Still playin some of his songs 60 years later.

Remarkable, glad future generations will have this version of Dylan's story to enjoy and learn from.
Thank you.
After watching this documentary I have to see this film again before it leaves the theater!!!
SO VERY SPECIAL!
Beautiful.
Wonderful movie. The music almost lifted me out of my seat. Just terrific.
Can't wait to see it. I have a deep sense Tim is up for winning the Oscar.
Brilliant film. Right up there with the best. As a huge Bob Dylan fan, Timothy Chalamet absolutely nailed it
especially given that Dylan would be such an impossibly hard act to follow. In this case Fortune certainly favoured the brave. Bravo, Timmy ❤
Brilliant film. Thanks Bob for being born. Thanks timothy for your great portayal. Academy award coming your way. ❤
Timothee Chalamet is a true talent and artist.
looks nothing like the subject
Best Actor. Best Director. Best Supporting Actor. Best Film. Period.
You forgot best supporting actress
It may win best actor. Likely nothing else.
Goddam amazing film. Everything about it, everything. The atmosphere, the characters, the music…everything. I’m going again this week. Easily one of my favorite movies ever and definitely the best biopic. Salute to all involved.
as a bob fan who watched ' I'm Not There " This blew my mind.
The BEST BEST BEST film I have seen in the last 25 years. Soundtrack of my youth. ❤❤❤
Oscars incoming- hopefully in MANY CATEGORIES including
DIRECTOR for James Mangold and Supporting Actress for Monica Barbaro.
"The slow one now will later be fast".
Nah.
It’s usually a pendulum innit. There’s every chance of a renaissance in face of adversity. We shall overcome.
Seen the film - excellent. Crafted to perfection.
Saw it on Christmas Day with my daughter, best present ever 🥰
He better win the Oscar.
Absolutely loved the movie. Acting was outstanding by all the main characters. Going to see it again. That Music!!! Those Songs!!
I'm not sure the makers or casually interested people realize how much an impact Dylan had on some of us. It was life-changing. They did good making it, though. Thanks to them.
As a child of the 60s I LOVED it ❤
This movie keeps wanting me to see it over and over….like the Elvis movie! Excellent.
I liked this much more than Elvis. Elvis was to much Flash not enough substance imo
Hated the Elvis film 👎🏻
😂😂😂😂
For someone who really isn't that keen on Bob Dylan, or though I appreciate his musical importance, I thought this was a great film!
that's great, a true and unbiased opinion, thanks ✨🙏✨
I never paid much attention to Bob Dylan and never had much connection to his music, this movie gave me a connection and I was surprised how deeply I felt his journey and connected with his life. This movie gave me a powerful connection to the man and his music. Thank you !
Dylans songs came from him learning thousands of songs, reading lots of books and then coming up with similar songs from his point of view. Many of his songs have been studied and people have figured out the musical and lyrical references to older songs.
Ok…. & what Dylan shouldn’t be revered
I love the commentary and all the threads researched and woven into this fine film. A real gem.
p.s. sorry for a too long comment, & political outrage rant...I attempted to shorten, but... 😥
All the actors are brilliant in this!❤
Excellent film as a fan I couldn't be happier with these actors portrayals of our folk heros.
This was so good! Monica Barbaro and Timothee were so awesome
Genius slice of work on all levels 💎💎💎💎💎
The best movie so far!! It’s beautiful
Outstanding movie! The cast was exemplary and the performances magnificent. I’ve seen the movie three times. And I want to see it more!
Best actor Timothee Chalamet♥️👍
Must say when that scene where they play Subterranean Home Sick Blues on the Theatre Sound-system was incredible….thing was hot and groovin
This kid is going to win an oscar SOON
Now he should win it now
Timeless music in timeless times.
Loved the movie! Been thinking about it for days. Timothy is amazing as well as his co-stars. AND… It 😊is so cool to see what went into the making of this movie.

It was a great movie I started listening to Bob now
Such a great movie! Having grown up at that time and really loving Bob Dylan and his music made the movie even more special.
Timothee Chalamet deserves the Oscar. He deserved the golden globe too but got robbed. I was so disappointed.
Loved it! ❤
Can't wait to see this in a week!!
Funny: we have all worked - and are still working -' at the carnival'. Took up the guitar when I was 7, with Dylan, among other key influences of the day. Still playin some of his songs 60 years later.
I am so happy to see such love and dedication put into this film ..I am blown away by everyone' s skills and passion put into this production Very impressed , I wonder what Bob thinks
