This has been my favorite video. I learned a lot today. I bought a big drill press at an auction two weeks ago for 150.00 and mounted my grinder on it and bought a diamond wheel but haven't used it yet. I am glad you shared all those safety tips because I am a little scared of using it to be honest with you. I really want to see a video on the drill press mount to see if I did it right. Thanks again!

Just changed teeth on my 630B vermeer, just a tip, harbor freight is currently running a deal on a Pittsburgh brand 25 inch breaker bar for $14.99, I had 1 bolt so tight I put a 5 foot long cheater pipe on the end of that breaker bar, completely expected it to break but it didn't and it broke the bolt loose, great $15.00 investment. It saved the day! Enjoying the vids here in southeast Kansas.
Been grinding for a couple of years but not full time. I stack my stumps and rent a machine. I have been watching your videos and they are really helpful. Thanks for your honesty and for making the videos. Very helpful for the guys getting started. Honestly, your video where you explain your pricing and how you get jobs as a subcontractor gave me the insight/confidence to reach out to local tree guys and the amount of work O got exploded. I pick up the first machine I'm buying on Friday!

I know this is a 3 year old video but I’m glad I saw it at least for the safety tips, haven’t thought about the dust factor and contaminants that come from these teeth and green wheel, just bought one and will be sharpening mine soon, thanks

Great videos sir, what a great way to save money on teeth, problem is for me is that i run from 7 till 5 pm then have to go look at tree jobs amd stump jobs till dark, i have been wanting to sharpen my own teeth forever, i dont have the time, so i just buy a ton of new teeth and run! Ya it is amazing how dust can get you even outside! Have you ever had to grind the elongated teeth,the ones that are more the shape of a horse track. If so, is it done even remotely the same way because of the length of the tooth?. I have the bench grinder, and the drill press tools already when needed just going to grab a green wheel to start but the tooth being not round I am thinking it would be different but hey I figured I would pick your brains on the subject first if that's cool brother! Thanks for all your tips btw, saving me alot of lessons learned the hard way! Appreciate it

Love the videos I'm not a pro I have a small home owner stump grinder I have lots of trees some die mowing sucks when there are stumps mess up mower blades I don't take them deep I just grind below surface but hitting rocks and dirt gets expensive even on home owner grinders thanks again

Hello, this is how I sharpen my green teeth as well. I typically purchase throughout the season and sharpen buckets & buckets over the winter. I use a full masked respirator and have a vacuum near the wheel to suck up the nasty dust. I run vacuum for about 30 minutes, stop grinding for about 30 minutes (allows vacuum to cool down) and repeat the process. I use a gallon milk container and cut a section out to form around wheel & stick the vacuum end (just the hose) into the containers spout. Masked respirator and hearing protection are a must. Vacuum contains the mess and easy cleanup. Thanks brother for the video’s

Great Video on how to resharpen the grinder teeth. The wheel you showed was a 100 grit diamond Wheel D1A1 4"x1/4"x1 1/4". There are numerous grit options on ebay for this same D1A1 wheel. Thanks for the video.

Nice video as usual. Again learning from someone who has lots of experience. When I use a grinder or sander,, as well as using the mask and safety glasses. I have a regular fan that is blowing on me as well as the grinder. This way the dust doesn't lay around.

You will notice an improvement
silica dust leads to black lung, so great job pointing that out. anywhere there is sand you will find silica dust but the fine particles are what gets you so where your mask. what grit wheel is that?

Belt drive. Vs. Hydraulic. Gas engine. Vs. Diesel. Engine. On models like bandit sb40. 37. Horse power or smaller

Whats going on Brother.... got a request on a video. Could you tell us a story on how to handle when you have to eat a job. ( basically make,nothing on it, and even lose $ on it)... Hey buddy. Been watching your videos from England , after I got myself a bandit hb20 in July.
Been running the grinder to help grow my tree and fencing business.
I got myself a silicon carbide wheel for my bench grinder , however the wheels thickness is the same as my green tooth 700. Because of this I can’t get a groove/dip onto the tooth. Although it leaves a nice edge it’s more 90 degree / a flat surface rather than the dip / bowl shape that the tooth comes in.
I’m wondering is this a deal breaker , before I go and sharpen a full set is it worth getting a thinner wheel I see you recommend a 1/4” diamond wheel to really get in to that groove on the tooth.
If I was to sharpen each tooth and give it a nice edge but not angled is that a waste of time ?
It seems difficult to find diamond tipped wheels that aren’t crazy thin over here, they’re all designed for cutting tiles and maybe 2-4 mm thick. And the silicon carbide wheel is the only one I could find so may be difficult finding a thinner wheel in uk.
Any advice appreciated buddy.

Diamond wheel is the way to go but having the sharp edge ok also ... years ago many professional sharpeners would sharpen till flat and they still worked ... try alli express or ebay for the diamond wheel
What grit diamond will do I need for the 900 series where sharp teeth?
try 100 or lower

So uh did just get my 1/4" Diamond grinding wheel In from Amazon. As I sharpen my teeth for my stump grinder it looks like it is putting more of a flat surface on than a sharpened edge. I am grinding very softly not putting too much pressure. With that being sad if you think I am doing something wrong please let me know thank you.
Dont worry about the flatness ..look at thee edge which is most important ( sharp )
What series teeth are you trying to sharpen. It did the same thing when I tried to sharpen the 500 series, I am no looking for a smaller diameter wheel

So my Diamond grinding wheel is 3/8 thick, is that the correct thickness ? Or should I try too buy a thinner wheel ?
thinner is better like 1/4

I just purchased the 1/4" thick diamond wheel like mustang rebuilder showed on the video, The wheel is 4" in diameter and unfortunately this is too large to sharpen 500 series greenteeth. The wheel should be 2 or 3" in diameter to fit the concave of the teeth

I just purchased the exact 4" diamond wheel, unfortunately I cannot use this wheel on the 500 series greenteeth, the wheels diameter is too large to fit the concave of the teeth, Looks like it works with the 700 and 900 series

Hey thanks for the info. How many hours on the teeth before you sharpen. I’m talking average wear that just rounds the cutting edge a bit. Not rocks and crap.
Depends sometimes I can get 2 weeks out of a tooth that is a lead tooth and more out of the ones set back

What's the rich man's way? Meaning is there a tool designed to sharpen these teeth that costs a bit?
You can send them off or use a drill press and bench grinder with a diamond wheel
would you sharp same way a tooth that has a small cutting edge of it broken off? Also, what grid are both wheels? thanks
green wheels normally don't list the grit but a diamond wheel does and should be around 100 grit and yes you can do a chipped tooth but you have to hold steady and light touch

Did you ever try to sharpen 500 series with that wheel, I purchased the same wheel from ebay, the 4" diameter of the wheel will too large for the concave portion of the 500 series, The tooth loses its concave due to the wheel being 4" a 2" wheel looks like it would work for the 500 series.

@@mustangrebuilder Yeah, I have a small DR stump grinder with the 500 series, When I try to sharpen the 500 series red greenteeth with the 4" diamond wheel I lose most of the concave of the tooth, I just ordered a smaller diameter wheel which should fit the radius of the 500 series. If this works I will be selling the 4" diamond wheel Thank you
