    I worked night shifts on occasion and would come home and drink. I convinced myself it was my afternoon since I worked nights. I knew in my heart there was nothing normal about being drunk by 10 am but I kept doing it anyway. God finally woke me up before I drank myself to death and I'm very thankful. Thanks again for these videos. They help me continue to despise alcohol and stay away from it.

    The stigma of being branded an 'alcoholic' prevented me from drinking in the mornings, except I made up for it with copious amounts of wine and gin in the evenings and pass out every night. It's so good being sober, no longer constantly depressed and hungover.

    Great story LD.
    I was/am an opiate addict who began his use from prescribed lortabs for knee pain.
    I knew my using had gotten out of control when I found myself sneaking off to the bathroom 4 or more times during an overnight shift as an RN to shoot IV Demerol into my veins….
    I’ve been clean and sober for over a decade now and I thank GOD for that.

      Hey! Thank you! And thank you for sharing your story! Did you ever get caught doing that? Were you taking it from the hospital? I understand if you don't want to answer. It's crazy how our bodies all react differently to substances. What would knock one out... will give another energy. It's insane! Thank you! God bless😊❤

    • @GrifFungin
      @GrifFungin หลายเดือนก่อน

      I got caught after about 4 years of doing that and my license was suspended, but I was given the opportunity to enter the recovering nurse program, which consisted of a 30 day inpatient rehab stay followed by 2 years intensive outpatient treatment/counseling and very close monitoring via random drug testing where I had to call a number every single day and if my color was announced on the phone call I had to immediately go give a “monitored urine sample”.
      I eventually regained my license to practice as a Registered Nurse, but I found that having access to controlled drugs was too tempting for me so I ended up surrendering my license and left the nursing profession for forever back in around 2013.
      You are right, it’s amazing how chemicals affect people differently.
      I could shoot 100mg of Demerol into my vein and feel like I was Superman, whereas non-tolerant ppl would be knocked on their butt from a fraction of that dose.
      ✌🏻

    One other thing. What just amazes me is that alcoholics don’t believe they smell like booze so they think no one knows. Trust me, we know you’re drinking no matter how hard you try to hide it.

    At my husbands worst, he would just have a 24 hour life. He’d sleep in tiny amounts and drink all through the 24 hour cycle. He never went to “bed”. He’d just nap and wake and drink and repeat. Almost zero food except maybe a few bites here and there. Just alcohol. No other liquids. It was truly insanity.

    Ahhhh, I hate to admit this, but i was the same way. Except once I started drinking outside of parties, I went straight to vodka. For a period of about 5 years, I drank all day. I would bring a 24 oz. water bottle full of vodka to work with me, and drink half of it throughout the day. Then I'd go home and drink some more. Later in my career, I'd be sober throughout my first job, but would start drinking during my second and then until I went to bed (passed out) when i got home. Weekends (when I finally stopped working them) I'd get up at the Crack of dawn and drink about 4 shots. Eat breakfast, pass out and then repeat around dinner time. I'd wake up in the middle of the night and do a few more shots. I'm getting nauseous just thinking about it. I really don't know how I'm alive. As it got closer to my quitting, I started going through the whole day sober until around dinner time where I'd do 5 shots. Pass out, wake up hungover, repeat. Weekends I always wasted, though, in the way I just described earlier. Toward the end I knew it was a living hell. But there was this devil on my shoulder telling me that I deserved a vacation. So. Much. Time. Squandered. And I'll always be waiting for the shoe to drop with my health. It was never worth it. I was just overcome by addiction. I can't imagine ever living life that again. Great topic, LD. Alcoholism can make you act insane. If any of this sounds familiar to anyone reading, please get help and stop turning down help. I promise you that life is so much better on the other side. I'm speaking from experience! And at one point, I could never imagine sobriety. I convinced myself that i didn't even want it. Much love to all, and have a great night! ❤❤

      Hey Craig! Not really. I drank coffee in the beginning of my problem, but stopped and would just drink beer or the hard stuff towards the end. I hate to even think about it, it was so gross. And forget about food. I never ate. Hope you are having a great morning! God bless😊❤

      I drank since teenage years, drank heavy in my 20s, it got bad around 30 and I drank my worst from 30 to 42 when I got sick. Hope this helps. God bless😊
