Born and raised here lived here most of my life...maybe I was too young to see it cuz I wasn't able to drive around as much but the people here are awful...not sure if its a recent development either or it just comes with a big city, but they're not nearly as welcoming and as friendly as they say they are. The only thing I miss is the real estate...really nice looking new properties...and affordable too...200 to 400k goes much further on the housing market there than compared to other places
I moved to EP 4 years ago from Baton Rouge and I love it,I've been treated so kindly and gotten so much free stuff from so many people,it's like night and day compared to where I come from, I've never felt safer and had such low cost of living
Something I've noticed is that college-aged people who like to party are always complaining about how there's nothing to do here and that bigger cities are better. To everyone else, El Paso is home and a solid place to raise a family or retire. I agree with the latter. I am grateful to be living in such a peaceful city and hope that people my age will learn to not take El Paso for granted.
Its like that everywhere, not just el paso. I lived in korea, georgia, south carolina, new mexico, and there was nothing to do in those areas either. Eat and drink, thats all there is to do in el paso, just like any other major city.
Very informative video. My family is considering moving to Texas from Canada in the next couple months and El Paso is high on the list. We like the idea of a safer city and in my experience with the Hispanic community they are great people. They remind me a lot like the east coast of Canada where I'm from. The economy and housing is a major factor in our decision also, from looking at some of the houses sold/forsale the pricing is superb.
I would definitely consider living in El Paso after watching this video. I like how much information you present along with your relaxed natture. Thanks for sharing!
From a fellow El Pasoan, the best advice I can give you come to El Paso. Spend some time here. Go to Tucson, spend time there. That way you get a better idea of how the vibe is.
I haven't spent to much time in Tucson but multiple library's , several parks all over & a beautiful theater and art center. Check out the description for the 48 best activates in El Paso!
I don't think your home taxes are low. Actually being a former El Paso resident home taxes are extremely high. I do miss the desert and mountains, but the cost of living there is high.
That's interesting where did you move to? El Paso has some of the lowest cost of living in the entire country. Taxes are relatively high but considering the fact that there's no state tax is something most overlook.
I lived here all my life but it had changed so much there really isn't much to do hear once you've seen the mountains gone to the lake thats it and then it gets boring. As for jobs they pretty much pay minimum wage and others ask for degrees but the pay is not good prices are high all around so at this point now that I have retired I'm hoping to move looking at other cities in Texas
property taxes are outrageous and will be a THIRD of your mortgage. Property taxes never go away and often go up. So even if you oay off your house before retiring, you better have enough coming in to pay the property taxes!
If you get a house in an older area the property taxes are not high. The appraised value of the home was set a long time ago and the city can only increase the appraised value so much every year.
The wages suck , taxes are high , some of the roads are shit, they cater way to much to Mexico, I could go on The one thing el Paso has is the Mexican restaurants some of the best food there heritage speaks loud in el Paso, I try my best to go chico's tacos when I am there
What we focus on is all we see. El Paso is home to many 6,7, and even 10 figure income earners. If you just focus on minimum wage then sure but anyone that makes a real effort to gain skills can earn 60-100k with just some elbow grease
Would you live in El Paso? Why or Why Not
Hi my name is jabbar I'm from Philadelphia yes I would consider living in El Paso I would rent to own.

There's nothing to do there that is American inspired
Only lots of bars and beer stores
Lots of Hispanic culture

I just moved back after living in two big cities, ready to retire here.

I recently bought five acres in El Paso. Plan on retiring there in a shipping container home.
I would consider moving back, El Paso also has a lot of city sponsored sports activities for young family's.
Definitely, all my younger brothers have been surrounded by city sports. They love it here!
I retired and moved to El paso 2 years ago. The best decision yet very affordable & i enjoy my life..
Going to be visiting soon thank you for the list of activities and attractions can’t wait to try some of these out
You are so welcome!

We'd love to have you ! Thank you for the comment :)
Great video man !!!
Appreciate it!
Great video 👍 interesting perspective!! Loved the graphs.
Much appreciated!
But private sector employment is terrible ! Employers will keep wages down in industries like construction or skilled trades
We are actually seeing a rise in pay for Independent contractors. many do shady work so the ones with quality work make double what the average makes!
How is El Paso compared to Tucson for singles and things to do, libraries, live theaters, parks?

On average El Paso has a much lower cost of living compared to most places in the US. Did you hear about the recent increase in minimum wage?
Lake? Prices high? Are you sure you’re from El Paso? What lake? Ascarate lake? The cost of living is low here.
Omgoodness thank you for this. Love how you edit what is your software? Hoping you grow this was amazing information love the local perspective 👍🏻
Thank you so much! For editing i use DaVinci Resolve!
Yes to many used car lots and Bars wonder if they are good for children?
I have a two year old myself and there's plenty of friendly communities, parks & activities! how old are your kiddos?
Like your video pretty much the truth. ❤️ You certainly need more education for a better job. El Paso City by the Rio Grande ❤️ 🎶.....Marty Robbins
Thank you! There's so many remote jobs with good pay available now its crazy!

What part of town are you located in? 1/3 of your mortgage seems really high and unusual.
I just viewed a home on Redfin, a $220,00 home show $489.00. Your assessment is a little exaggerated.

Property taxes 1/3 of your mortgage? Huge exaggeration. Also, property taxes never go away anywhere. Taxes do not go away.
Wasn't the place for me. The most miserable 6 months of my life.
Really why .?
Get rid of the irritating back ground music when you are talking.
Peter Pipper pizza? Really? 🤔
Yes! Have you had it before?😀

Hey Robert , Where did you move to lol?
No!!the reality is when u r 76 years old and pay utilities and property taxes!!
Have you got a copy of my unique ways to lower property taxes yet?
I lived in El Paso, ugly and dry, not bless with nature. Weather horrible, dusty winds.
Im going to be honest here el paso is a nice and safe city. But its realllyyyyyyy boring.
Have you checked out my list of the 48 best activities in El Paso ?
I'd take safe and boring over dangerous and exciting
