    OMG WHAT A GORGEOUS COUPLE. I work with disabled people and my clients next door neighbor asked for my phone number and said he wanted to take me to a restaurant. He's in a wheel chair and is quite attractive. I literally noticed his smile before the chair. I've been a widow since 2009. Single by choice. I'm glad I didn't settle for an able bodied man that would probably not treat me as well. Also I'm black and he's Hispanic. The first time I saw him I thought" Wow he's so attractive" it was more like I could feel that he was really sweet. He made us( my client and i) tamales twice. Silly me had no idea he was attracted to me. I almost can't wait to go.
    Oddly true. 🙏🙏💖💝

    I was born with spina bifida and use a wheelchair and my wife is able bodied. I am getting ready to start filming my adventures and was doing research when I came across your channel. Thanks for the inspiration!

  • @destinieackley5778

    My bf has spina bifida too and he’s paralyzed from the calf down he wears braces to help him walk but this video helps a lot he doesn’t let the spina bifida define him he pushes past it and still does what he love I find it attractive that he has the perseverance to push past it and do what he loves he doesn’t let it hold him back we live in different states and what brought it up was I asked him if he drives

  • @shinoquake67
    @shinoquake67 5 ปีที่แล้ว +29

    I completely agree with everything, I also have spina bifida and before I moved out of my parents and into a college dorm, I was worried that I would not be able to find someone, or that girls would not even consider me an option since I knew I would have to be using a wheelchair to get around campus (i walk around with crutches at home). But barely 3 weeks into freshman year I found someone who I have an amazing relationship with still even after 1 and a half years. For people struggling with the anxiety of being judged, just remember that you have lived a whole life that is completely unique to anyone else, the chair or your disability doesn't represent you. When I met her, I never planned on mentioning my wheelchair unless she asked about it, I just got to know her and she got to know me and we connected right away, and once we were comfortable with talking about it, we brought up my disability and some things about it. Unfortunately there will be people that cant look past your disability, but those arent the people you wanna be spending your life with anyways so dont even worry about it. And if youre someone with spina bifida whos younger, maybe in elementary,middle,highschool I think it still applies, I've had my fair share of relationships when I was younger too. I think the important part is just to make sure that your disability is a part of you, rather than you being a part of it and to just be confident and don't be afraid to initiate conversations.

Just watching this video give me so much hope to find someone to be with as long as you two have been together. I am in and out of the dating game because I have spina bifida and I sit and think to myself who would want be with a guy who walks the way I do. @AdaptedAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      thank you for your kind words.. you may ask yourself who would want to be with a guy with a limp, but think of it as more of a filter :p... you don't have to waste your time on someone who's going to judge you on something so inconsequential as the way you walk.. Instead ask yourself if you would want to be with someone that shallow?

      I am currently dating a guy who has spina bífida and he is awesome. He also walks different and uses a cane (he is 30y/o) I was amazed by his willingness to fight during the hardest times in his condition. My best advice is don't be afraid to be yourself. And don't let anyone's opinions define you. We all deserve to be loved. The right person will not look at your disability. The right person will love the person that is you, and I know it sounds cheesy but is true. I look past my date's disability because he is extraordinary

    Thank you guys for your insight. I recently reconnected with someone that I dated briefly 20 years ago and due to an injury, which occurred before I ever met him… he is wheelchair bound. I really like him and could see us together in a committed relationship in the future. I recently began taking into consideration some of the things that would need to be different for our relationship to grow… for instance, my home is not wheelchair accessible. Neither is my family members homes. We have family dinners and events about once a month and I would like to invite him to some of those events eventually. We are going to Miami for his birthday in August and I decided to research fun things for us to do while we’re there that are wheelchair accessible… these are things that I have never had to really consider being that I have not had a serious romantic relationship with anyone wheelchair bound before… but because I genuinely like him, I want to learn everything I need to know so that he knows that his disability is just something we will navigate, but isn’t a hindrance to the growth of our relationship. I appreciate all of ur tips. Thank you. Best wishes for you.

    For some reason, my brain doesn't accept the fact that it is possible for me to be in a relationship. I know that I should be inspired by your story and others who are in a relationship. Perhaps, it's because as much as I have tried to date women. They just like me as a friend or don't give me a chance... My medical condition requires me to have assistance from bathing, dressing, eating, to lifting simple objects. It's so uncomfortable to ask for a phone number while struggling to take out and lift my phone.

So, just Love unconditionally without worrying! :) I'm disabled too if that wasn't clear, but don't worry, just Love, a Heart full of Love sees everything in Love, even in solitude, so be full of God, The Loving, The Protective Friend! 😄 If you don't understand things, be patient, don't worry, and hold on to Him! I have mostly all titanium joints except my left hip!! I have had 8 total left knee replacement surgeries, 2 total right knee replacement surgeries, 2 total right hip replacement surgeries and both of my shoulders are next to be totally replaced! Plus all ten toes are have titanium rods from the tip of my toes to the middle of my foot! Plus i am raising my 4 AMAZING kids throughout all of my surgeries but bc of these surgeries i have a lot of surgical scars & women are not interested in me @ all bc of my DG disability, scars,& being a full-time single father of four!! I have been thru a lot and have a lot of pain physically, emotionally, and mentally! & unfortunately so have my kids bc i am all that they have as their mother's are not involved in their lives @ all & they have had to watch me go thru all of the surgeries!! I am looking for female friendship/companionship & LOVE for myself and my 4 AMAZING kids! Idk what to do! I apologize for the very long msg but i have no one to talk to about it and hearing about your disability & LOVE story helped me to open up to you!
