    Victory II and Gladiator are my favorite 'standard' size SDs, but I also like the simplified design and strategic options of the Vindicator as well.

    One thing I like about most Imperial Star Destroyers is they look similar to each other with slight variations like how the Victories are smaller and have areas for missiles or extra ion cannons the Procursator and allegiance have no docking bays like the Tector and have 3 guns on the mid section. While the Imperial I and II are different in their own unique ways.

    I am one of the few that recognize that phasing out the Venator for the Victory, Procurator and Imperial Star Destroyers was not a mistake. The newer vessels were exceptionally potent and versatile as they had a much longer successful service record than the Venator as the Venator was already being outclassed midway through the Clone Wars. The Imperial Star Destroyer by contrast went through constant evolution and modifications al the way through the Second Galactic Civil War over sixty years after its introduction.
    Nice to see some Thrawn's Revenge models.

      I agree. It saddens me how much the empire gets hated on for "supposed" design flaws. Everything was designed with a purpose, but most people only see that the empire lost and by extension "empire tech bad".

      @@lordcaedus8465 it's largely due to ignorance and what they have seen in memes. There were less than ideal designs, however, almost universally the tech and designs upgraded, not downgraded from the CW era.

      @@grandadmiralzaarin4962 That is true. I used to think the GAR was superior to the empire in all but numbers and resources, but the more I read, the more I realized the galactic empire is the most powerful faction in star wars EVER.

    • @grandadmiralzaarin4962
      @grandadmiralzaarin4962 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      @@lordcaedus8465 it's true. Even the Stormtroopers were better than the Clones in a lot of ways. For starters they didn't all share one genetic template, so they couldn't be wiped out by a single targeted bioweapon. They could be drawn from the wider populace both bonding that populace to the Empire and producing far more soldiers than Kamino cloning could hope to. Finally, with the rigorous training at Academies like Carida, the elite Stormtroopers were easily on par with anything Kamino ever produced.
      There was never a military force that rivalled the Empire at its height. To put it in perspective the New Republic at the height of its military power had only around 1/20th of the capital ships as the Empire did at their peak. Even the Yuuzhan Vong admitted that they would likely have lost in a war with the Empire at its height. It took years of the Empire killing itself in the Imperial Civil War before the New Republic reached parity with the meagre remnants of the Empire.

      @lordcaedus8465 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@grandadmiralzaarin4962 That is correct. The standard stormtroopers were at least on the same level as normal clones in everything except not being able to pilot as many vehicles.

    You know what I have another suggestion of 2 Imperial Officers you should make a video about they both shared the same rank they both wore the Red Imperial officer uniform. They both are the only two officers to be The Director of Imperial intelligence Armand Isard and his daughter Ysanne Isard who wore it after him they are the only two imperial officers to wear the red imperial officer uniform.

    one of the big reasons why the empire lost is because of the increased focus on superweapons before endor and during the dark empire which took focus away from actual practical needs basically resigning the imperial fighter core too ties, tie interceptors and tie bombers for bombers Rebels wouldn't have stood a chance if Death Star one was put on hiatus for the tie defender program

    I've always been drawn to the Secutor. It's a nice ballance between the carriers of the Republic and the battleships of the Empire. It's big, but not insanely massive like the dreadnoughts. Overall a nicely ballanced ship that manages to toe the line and get the best of both worlds.

  • @gelf6303

    The rationale I always used for why the shield domes were located where they were is that anti turblolaser deflector shield tech at this point in time was still relatively nascent(new) and they put the generator domes on top to avoid most of the incoming damage from other capital ships that would hit the hull. Since the tech was just being developed the shield domes would be large and primitive compared to later designs and they were experimenting with the placement. For all the flak that ISD's get for their shield placement they were at the cutting edge of battleship technology and were one of the first battleships to employ deflector shields designed for turbolaser fire.

    IDK why would the Engineers of Kuat Drive Yards would put their Star Destroyers shield emitters exposed on the top of a massive bridge which serve no purpose aside being a weakness of the ship overall, then put 8 heavy turbo lasers turret 4 in each side of the broadside of the superstructure without using stepping to increased the turrets height as for the following turrets so all of them would fire in a forward arc without the other blocking each other.
    For me the most realistic Star Wars Starship is the Assertor Class Dreadnought if Star Wars is made in the 2000's.
    I think Gorge Lucas did not thought enough of this or maybe because of the limited resources and technology when it was created.

    • @gelf6303
      @gelf6303 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe the turrets on the broadside were on elevators so that they could stagger their shots over each other if need be but i agree that the "ISD-72x deflector shield generator dome" was not ideal design placement.
