***NOTE***My van requires 6pin regulator plug. Base model vans will use 2pin, all other will use 6pin. If you aren't sure you may need to pull yours OUT and look before buying the new part.
***NOTE***Sorry I missed addressing this in the video but my window was barely poking out and I was able to grab and pull it up. Wedged door apart a little to get my finger/tape onto the edge of it and was able to lift it and tape it up.
Not meant to be a perfect instructional, more to show that any person can look up the directions and do this. A few torx bits, couple screwdrivers, some tape and a part from your local shop. Save time and money! No way I wanted to drop this at the shop for a whole day or even two. I got it done in about 4 hours, and I was taking my time.
I, a mother of three youngs, watch this and just smile at the amazingness that is Dads fixing things. First my own Dad, who fixed all his own vehicles, and now my dear husband, who undoubtedly will be fixing this same issue in my beloved dodge caravan. Thanks. Just finished mine. Note to others. Be ready careful when disconnecting the little orange and purple plastic clips from the door latch rods. If you break them beyond usefulness, the only way to get new clips is to buy the entire $100 door latch. Mine was slightly damaged but I was able to use a zip tie to keep the purple clip from coming loose from the latch rod.

Thanks for the video! Saved a lot of money. I did however skip the part where you removed the whole inner panel. Did not want to mess with those rods that gave you a lot of trouble. I just had my wife swing it out slightly enough for me to get in their and change the track cable system! Works perfect now. Although i had to push down harder on the window than i thought to get it into the new clips. And for everybody wondering how to get the window up, all you have to do is take out the speaker and reach thru the hole and lift the window up.
Your tip with the speaker saved my life. My driver side window fell down today, and I drove home at 7°C for half an hour with all heaters maxed out. Now I "fixed" it with your tip and 3M body shop tape. That offers me to use my car until the spare parts arrives. Thank you very very much!
@@alexanderbleisch2661 yeah, I had to drive my daughter to soccer early in the morning when it was cold and had the heat cranked, BUT not that cold!! Glad my comment helped you. If you follow the video step by step it's pretty easy. I took pictures of every connection and screw I took out. Good luck with everything.
@@jamesgilbert8851 I actually used a cloth and pair of pliers to just grab the window and slide it out.
This all looks rather complicated - I hope I don’t have to remove that second piece like you said, in order to attach the new part.
@@alexanderbleisch2661 Did you tape the window on the outside or from inside the panel? Mine is currently taped outside but my Wife hates how it looks.

Thanks for the vid. It helped a lot. I agree with the guys who didn’t pull the inner panel all the way out. Was able to do mine that way and avoids all the downfall of disconnecting the linkage to the latch.
Bought another caravan and if it happens again I will use that tip too!

For those rods that have you trouble, they should connect to the door actuator on the panel, before putting the panel on the door (Pink and orange clips first). Then you just make sure that they are pointing up when you put that entire panel on the door, and then you should only have to fuss with the white and yelo clips.
Mine gave me a bunch of trouble because AutoZone gave me the wrong part number, so I was trying to fit the wrong regulator on the door and couldn't figure out why I was having issues mounting it.

Great video but I’ll be taking mine to the shop or else I may total it with a sledge hammer! This project is for people with a lot of patience which I don’t have.
I probably wouldn’t do it again lol. We since replaced this van with another newer caravan…..hopefully the issue doesn’t come up again but it seems pretty common on these

Yay! Got it done and your video helped a lot. Did not take have to take out the door lock linkage. Went right to O Reilly and got the part. Took a pic of the wiring before disassembly which helped. Saved me tons of money! Can i get you a Starbucks card or something as a way of saying thanks?

If you loosen 2 screws on the door panel closest to the henges you can decouple the entire harness without having to disconnect the individual plugs.
How to fix the window: take apart entire van. Lol.

Oh no! It must have disconnected the annoying little rod that attaches to the door lock on the inside. What a pain! Good luck!
If you remove the weather stripping and are able to get to that cable, pulling it should pop the door open

Tried messing with my 05 regulator yesterday...nice to see 13 years later and it's still garbage just to get access in between the door panel such a pain... No wonder everything costs so much you break half the crap just getting in there ..
Yeah it’s a real pain. I’d rather pay someone to do this repair, but unfortunately every time I’ve dealt with a dodge dealer I have to leave the vehicle for multiple days. Still more time efficient to do it myself.

So what was the initial problem? Obviously the window fell.... Why? How? What went wrong? What was broke?
Regulator cables jumped off the wheels/guides and tangled/broke….or they broke first not sure which came first

The only thing I don’t like about the vid is…HOW DID YOU PULL UP THE WINDOW? I took everything apart and I got to this part and my window won’t budge. 😵💫

I had to grab mine from the bottom I side the door and wiggle it up. Once I got it poking out of the top, I grabbed it from the top and pulled it up. I could have grabbed some tape, but I had some clamps that were like 3 ft closer
What are the tools needed for this? Why are you using a T20 instead of just a screw driver?
T20 is what a lot of the screw heads are in the door. I suppose a flathead might still work but I already had the bits. Screw drivers/ torx bits, tape is all I remember using but to be fair it’s been a while
It's a 3-hour fix. Unless, you forget to put the door lock plug back in before you put the window in. If you forget to do that plastic manipulation with a pair of pliers. It's a $53 fix so do yourself.

I have a dumb question and nowhere online seems to have the answer. I need to order my new motor and switch, but my window is stuck 4" down in the mean time and it's cold. Any idea how to manually force the window to stay up until I get the parts?
It’s likely that the cables connected to the motor/window assembly have jumped the track/wheels and tangled up, jamming the whole thing. If it won’t budge by hand you’d have to remove the door card and try to untangle or cut the cables so that you can lift the window and tape it
Or maybe use some clear plastic/tape to cover the open window.
Currently doing this now, what was the replacement part # from auto store?

I paid $500 at dealer today to have this done - i thought it was easier job now I see video I don’t feel like I got hosed that bad
Yep it’s bit of a beast and a few hours work.
Mechanic said $700. So, I am going to try doing it myself, God Willing!
The only way to reconnect the lock coupler is to remove the outsie door handle then it only takes a hour vs 10 hrs trying to connect from the inside

My 2017 Grand Caravan began doing some clicking noises at certain heights when the drivers side window was going up, only. The clicking sound began roughly about two months ago. The window still operated normally when traveling up. But the clicking sound was really bugging me. I had never had this happen to me. I thought that there may be a little pebble or debris in the track at this part of the guide making for the clicking sound. Anyway, Sept 19th 2023, the window went south. I was raising the window and it no longer wanted to run up. It also was beginning to slide down on its own. I was near my home when this happened and I opted to hold the window with my right hand and drove the 1/4 mile with my left hand. Now, I am in debate if I should fix the window, as you have illustrated. Or, should I removed all the paneling and inspect to see if it is actually the regulator. Nonetheless, thank you so much for this informative video. I'll get back to you and share what I decided to do.

@@DADMOBILE_Garage Sept. 20th 2023. Ok, status of regulator window assembly replacement. I installed the new regulator assembly and followed with the new motor. However, I noticed that the motor is securely tight. I kind of leaned on the bolts to ensure an extremely tight and snug fit. However, the motor has a slight wiggle. The wiggle is indicating that the motor and shell has a micro gap. Now, the wiggle is not alarming. Nevertheless, I know it should not have any at all. Should I add perhaps three space washers? Now, if I do, will it affect the depth of the motor gear and regulator gear in where the motor is not inserted to its proper depth? By the way, this is a monumental task. Thank you for the video and words of experience.
@@DADMOBILE_Garage Sept. 20th 2023. Follow-up on wiggle of motor. The motor has a triangle leg (three bolts) around the motor that act as a securing housing or guide. I compared these three legs new against old motor. I noticed that the new motor had a hair or fraction of length compared to the old one. Perhaps the extra extension was a miscalculation in manufacturing. But before I do grind down the three legs I am going to dry fit the old motor to see what I find. What I am going to do is grind down these three legs a fraction of an inch to ensure the is no gap when tightening it down. Thank you.
@@DADMOBILE_Garage Update - Sept 20th, 2023 time - 3:50 pm central. Motor no longer has wiggle. The vertical regulator has two 10mm bolts. I removed them from old regulator and installed in new one. Walla! No more wiggle. Thank you.
@@DADMOBILE_Garage Dadmobile garage,....you are not going to believe this SHIT!!!!! After working all day on this project, installing, removing, dry-fitting, re-dryfitting, modifying the motor in order for it to have no wobble, I am finally on the last part of finishing, which is setting the window on its tracks and locks.....AND GUESS WHAT. The plastic lock snapped and broke clean off. I called Autozone and told them what just happened. They will give me a new regulator set no questions asked. However.....the time and hard work plus the headache, backache, sweating, shortness of breath, lightheadedness and what ever other ailment you want to include --- what about that?

My window is stuck in the down position. You skipped the whole part where you raised it up to get to the tabs.

the tip of the window was sticking up, i grabbed it and lifted it with tape on the window and pliers. otherwise you have to remove the door panel and lift it through the speaker hole.
