Will it work the same way for the 3•8 engines
@@stallion23ful I’m not sure. As I have only the 3600 2012
Is it easy to change the filter if needed?
@@stallion23ful Yes sir I have a 3.8 engine and it works great 👍👍👍
Thanks for the good video. I used to work at ITP4 (Daimler Chrysler Indiana Transmission Plant Sector 4) The plant was actually installed and commissioned to build only the 62TE platform. Brother, we couldn't get them out fast enough! They were designed with one thing only in mind. To populate the roads with as many as possible. At first, no expense was spared and so many of our parts came from Germany while Shanghai spooled up. Those transmissions had the best parts but the worst assembly processes in ITP4 while we learned how to build them.. After 18 month of that, the whole damn thing flipped over to being horrible parts and just working with what we had.. For what its worth, if you just keep the fluid clean and the pan wiped out every 60k or so, they'll serve the owner well, who drives cool and doesn't race the hell out of them. The two big things that kill the 62TE is heat and contam. Keep them cool and clean and don't skip out on the fluid swap. If you do, just leave them alone because now you are just on borrowed time. My advice is if you let them go past 120k, sell the damn thing.
Thanks for your comment I appreciate the info
My 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan is doing the same thing - slipping gears. Hopefully it’s just low on transmission fluid. I took it to one garage and they said “you have a sealed transmission so we can’t check it. You have to take it to a dealer.” NO WAY! A dealership is gonna nickel and dime me. Thanks for this video!!!
A minute into the video I was like "hmmm he sure sounds Canadian eh" and sure enough you are lol. I'm from Toronto, with at 2018 DGC.
I grew up in Scarborough tho. Moved out of Ontario years ago
@@Southsideboystyle I came to Canada in 91. I like Toronto but I feel the need to move out too. Nice video btw. Keep it up
I saw "south side". I'm from the south side of Chicago. But when I heard "onscrew" and "diller" (unscrew and dealer)... i knew I was out of my realm. 😀 Btw I have a 2015 Grand Caravan and mine setup looks way different. It has a 1/2" metal tube rising up between the battery and engine. I'm assuming that's where my trans cap/dipstick/fill location should be. (It's missing the cap/plug).
@@bossfan49 must be a different model
Thank you step by step I have to check mine great info❤
I will just make me a stick so I don't have to redo it 😂 but definitely awesome tip 💪🏻✊🏻✌️
Thank you for the step by step. I checked mine when it was cold and it showed full. With explains why my van didn't want to shift gears
Glad the video helped
Your video is AWESOME. Perfect explanation. I check my 2013 and it was L O W. Marked the oil stick just like you said. Worked Great. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
You’re very welcome. Thanks for watching.
Don't do that. Any time when you leave the engine running , fluid will be low.
@@mikaTx that’s how you check most vehicles transmissions is with it running.
Look it up.!
Thank you so much for helping me out🎉🎉🎉🎉
you're very welcome!
Take your mark and use a small scribe and make a little line its top in the bottom of your marks and then don't worry about washing off.Because it'll just be there so you can check it easily any time.I've done that.I have that on five different vans
LOVE You Thank You!
You’re welcome
Nice detailed video
Thanks
I just changed my fluid and filters on my 2007 Dodge caliber and I would like to check the fluid level. I was just gonna to put in the exact amount of transmission fluid I took out.
Problem with that is was there the correct amount in it to begin with
👍👍✅ thanks for your help
Great vid bud thank you
Your welcome
thanks you
Thank you
measurements are wrong, use care here, mine says 10mm to 40mm range for average cold to hot levels. Be sure to cycle through the gears before making the measurement.
I have a 2011 Dodge caravan with a 3.6 vvt I have a fuel leak if I am standing at the front driver side looking at the motor almost towards the back is where I noticed it. What could it be?
The graph at 13:27 shoes 2.1 for low and inches and 2.4 for full.
Also your transmission will never reach 200°F in 15 seconds of driving
They don't have a transmission dipstick because they say that their transmission fluid does not have to be changed during the lifetime... Question is just what they consider "a lifetime"... Once the warranty is over, the lifetime is over? What if I drive the Grand Caravan longer than the warranty lasts?... Thanks for the video!
Greetings, sir, will this work on a 2007 Dodge caliber RT 2.4 L?
You mention if its low to top but what does one do if its bit over fill?
@@NycForgiato there is a drain bolt somewhere towards the bottom
Have you gotten your transmission repaired yet? The level you measured looked ok for warm transmission fluid. The level you marked on the dipstick was for hot transmission fluid. What were your codes for the check engine light?
My transmission is fine. Van works great. My engine code was evap system. ( gas cap )
Your vid says to drive it for just 15 SECONDS to warm it up. Better change it to minutes or it won't be warmed up and you won't get an accurate reading because the fluid won't be expanded and you will end up adding too much fluid.
👍
But that's only half the job. Now that you know that fluid needs to be added, how do you add fluid with the opening way down there where you can't even see it? Is there a special tube or funnel or other device to facilitate adding the fluid?
Use a funnel as I do. With a long narrow spout.
How did you get the dipstick to go down that far? Whenever I put the dipstick in It doesn't go down nearly that far before it bottoms out.
Sometimes you have to twist it a little and pull up a bit than try. Yea at times it’s a bit difficult
At 1045 you stick bottoms out but then you push it down further after that. I take it the engine must be running while checking the level?
Yes that’s correct you really have to make sure it bottoms out.
Where did you get the bug visor up on your hood
it was on it when we bought it
The motor most be running while the stick is in?
Yes
After warming up the Caravan, where/how do I add the trans fluid, if needed?
In that same hole with a funnel
@@Southsideboystyle thanks!
To confirm as I am sure the van engine is running, you check it while it is running?
Yes. As in most vehicles check while running
@@Southsideboystyle Thank you subscribed 🙂
What is the transmission number for an '05 T and C?
It’s just a 4 speed automatic
Open the driver's side door and look for a white placard with small black lettering. This card contains specific details about the year the car was made, its transmission, engine specifications and other details.
@@Southsideboystyle great thanks
I heard never touch your transmission fluid. I also have 2017 Grand Caravan. Never touched or checked.
In manual it says you need to change it every 60000 miles(if I remember right). Dodge just doesn't want people to work on their own cars and they want you to bring it to the dealer so they can charge you for stuff people could normally do themselves.. If you do not ever change your trans fluid your car wont last long... All fluids over time break down and get dirty there are some dealers that say "it's a life time fluid" what they mean is that the fluid will last the warranty and then after that it's not their problem..
The chart you showed was for a 68RFE transmission not a 62TE
Also for the 62TE
How to do a total transmission flush?
Remove the trans pan get a new filter and gasket. Than trans fluid.
@@Southsideboystyle Loooooot of work and you need to lift the car, no way you'd have enough room just crawling underneath it... Let alone the fluid pouring out all over your face while you're laying there... lol
8:18 Bird's eye view!
Do you check it while it running
Yes while running
@@Southsideboystyle Why while running? I am not too keen on getting my hand into the hot motor, let alone all the moving parts and wiggle around in there... When you drive around to heat up the transmission fluid and then come back and turn it off and do the measurement right then and there (not taking a break and going to the restroom and drinking a coffee and chatting with the wife and all of that lol, but do it right then), wouldn't that suffice?
@@danielthommen8243 as to be running to check the level , i suggest you go to a mechanic .
Amazon trans fluid dipstick $9.95 for this transmission
Do you have a link?
use mm and cm for next measurement . i promise you the fact that fractions are not involved results in a more accurate and math ease.
YES! Finally someone comes to his senses... 1 7/16... seriously... Why not just 41mm (or whatever is closest)... 1 MM is WAY more accurate than 1/16 of an inch...
However, it really gets me when people combine the metric system and the US system with 1/16, 1/12 and so on, like when someone writes a measurement of 0.7 INCH... So what is .7 inch? Basically it is 0.7 of an inch, so one inch divided by 10, multiplied by 7, but an inch is divided in 16th, So 16 divided by 10 and times 7, hence 1.6 times 7, which also leaves us with a metric system result... I mean, come on, make a decision and go for the metric system, you are still in the USA and nobody will laugh and bully you, it is just simpler and easier, 10, 100, 1000... Not 1/12, 1/16, 3 feet, and all the other things... Multiply/divide by 10 and done... 10mm = 1cm... 10cm = 1dm... 100cm = 1m... 1000m = 1km... And so on...
When it’s hot?
Yes
Thats not true i have an 08. Se 3.3 and it has the trans dipstick
I said in the 3.6.
Another key board happy def person lol
IF it takes a 17+ minute video to explain how to check the level, then THAT is NOT the definition of simple!
Einstein once said that if you can't explain something simply then you don't understand it well enough... he left out the part where you can explain something well enough to someone simple and they still won't understand... so sometimes it takes a lot to explain stuff... this video is a simple explanation but may seem complex to some...
Good video!
Do you leave van running when checking?
Yes leave it running
@@Southsideboystyle thanks
