    Story Summary :-
    Mei has been married to her husband for about a year and a half. Frank has a daughter from a previous relationship, named Simone, who challenges Mei at every turn, disrespects her, or just pretends she doesn’t exist. Her mother walked out on them when Simone was very young. Simone thinks that Mei only married Frank because of his money.
    Things don’t get better after Mei and Frank are wed. Simone refuses to eat anything Mei cooks or even be in her presence. Even after Frank talks to her numerous times, her bad behavior continues.
    One day Mei overhears Simone talking about hosting a party with fifty of her peers from university while her father is away on a work trip. Mei confronts Simone and tells her it would be a bad idea to have that many people in the house and that her father wouldn’t be happy about it. Simone tells Mei to mind her business. Later, Mei gets a call from her in-laws telling her to back off and stop antagonizing Simone.
    Mei then talks to Frank about how she’s been feeling isolated from the family unit. He goes and talks to Simone about her behavior and decides to cut her off. He sends he to her grandparents and takes Mei on his work trip with him.
    Weeks later Simone brings a puppy into the house and says she’s helping her boyfriend dogsit. But later, Mei sees a flyer saying that the dog Simone brought to
    their house was missing. She tips off the dog’s owners telling them she’d seen the dog with Simone and her boyfriend.
    This results in the police coming to their house, searching Simone’s room, and taking her cell phone, tablet, and laptop. Simone’s boyfriend is a suspect wanted for a string of dog thefts, but Simone claims she’s innocent and didn’t know about her boyfriend's crimes.
    However, while being interrogated by the police, Simone’s boyfriend throws her under the bus. He tells the police that she was involved in the harboring and selling of the dogs and got a cut of the money from the sales. Simone’s father turns his back on her, leaving her to rot in jail while he plans a vacation with Mei.

    The commenter who said that OP should not have given Simone's name as a suspect to the police is definitely deluded. Simone was part of an organized criminal enterprise. Can you imagine the grief the pet owners felt when their beloved pet was kidnapped? Most of these pets are not considered just as pets but a part of the family. Some could have been Emotional Support Animal and the effect on the pet owner is definitely devastating. Also, remember that Simone is almost an adult (if not an adult) already as she is supposedly in college. She already knows what is right or wrong. She even managed to concoct a story with effects (cutting hair and make up) to the authorities to land OP in jail. What kind of a person would do that framing an innocent person of a criminal act with possible jail time,. Good for that brat to be in jail and face the consequence of her acts.

      Yeah, I don't know what's up with these random comments defending criminals that have been caught red-handed, and then accusing the OP of being the real bad egg because she didn't try to cover for the step-daughter who literally tried to frame her for domestic violence and get her arrested. These people who are so brainwashed into thinking you /always/ have to defend/protect family even when they're clearly guilty of actually serious crimes and have even done horrible things to you.

    Simone has not been thru a lot in her life. She had one bad incident. My brother and I went thru hell from our dad. But neither of us went out and made the shot choices that girl made. She did that all on her own. Stop blaming the stepmother. She is not responsible for what that girl did.

    The comment that OP didn't need to alert the owners of the dog is wrong, I would turn in my own brother if he were involved in any crime. You don't get a free pass just because they are 'family'. Also dogs are a member of someone's family, how would you feel if your fur baby was stolen? Some people really have no morals.

      I've experienced someone stealing my miniature Yorkie (he was 3.5 pounds fully grown) right out of his own backyard!! We had an 8 foot privacy fence up around the entire back and side yard. We were both sitting out back enjoying a nice spring afternoon. I got up to go in for the restroom I KNEW he'd be okay while I was only going to the restroom right... WRONG. I was devastated, completely shattered!! I never saw my little boy again!! It took me almost 10 years before I would allow myself to have another love in my life, I just couldn't! The little boy I choose is another Yorkie his name is Prince Charles (he's Charlie to mommy 😁❤️) He's also a little one at 4.5 pounds. He will be 12 years young come April so he's not a young man anymore. But he acts like he's 11 months old instead of 11 years. He wears me out!! 😂😂. But in saying all of this YES there's THOUSANDS of people out there just like who look at their animals as part of the family. Some are WAAAY MORE drastic than others, but we love them all the same..
      Stay safe

    I think that the commentors that are making negative remarks about OPs in these stories are merely trolls or maybe even part of this or other sites. They are meant to rile up readers to elicit more comments and popularity of these sites. I love listening to the stories, but not to the nasty comments from trolls. Is there a way to remove them?

      @sequoyasierra5671 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I never thought they were trolls, although I suppose some could be. I always think they are people who identify with, in this case, the daughter. Maybe they were kids of divorce who felt that their stepparent was an intruder in their life and because they hate the stepparent, they also presume the stepmother hates them. The commentators are just telling it from their point of view which is not objective.because they are projecting. Their comments are colored by their perceived experience.

    Simone was horrible to OP from the moment she met her. She never wanted to give OP a chance no matter what anyone else said or did. She was extremely rude to her and never even gave her a chance. It wasn’t like OP was trying to take her mother’s place… she was trying to be cordial to her at a minimum but Simone wouldn’t even accept that. Simone didn’t care what her father or anyone said or did. Yes she lost her mother at a young age but so have a lot of people who don’t act like pompous jerks and then become criminals. OP didn’t feel safe and time her husband wasn’t home and Simone was. She had reason to feel that way. Simone’s father gave her everything she needed and wanted so she had no reason to become a criminal. I don’t think OP was wrong for reporting her. Even if she would have tried to help her it wouldn’t have mattered. You can’t help someone who refuses to be helped.

    Better for the daughter to get caught now because she would have ended up getting hurt, because know this, if someone came on my property and tried to take my dog they would get shot, or if I seen someone with my stolen dog I would do whatever I had to do to get it back. Some people are crazy, what if her boyfriend got into trouble with really bad people and she was with him? He doesn't sound like a person who would try to help her.

  • @AutismTakesOn
    @AutismTakesOn 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +17

    Tbh, this was just unfortunate for Frank and OP. Frank made a mistake by spoiling Simone, but did his best to make up for it, and I disagree that he never stood up for OP. He DID stand up for OP by getting Simone to try her cooking, and scolding her when Simone tried to get rid of OP. Frank also chose to stay with OP, which, as OP was in the right, was proper. Frank also had no way of knowing that Simone's boyfriend was a crook, or that Simone was stealing. I mean, yeah, Simone having luxury items would've raised eyebrows, but that alone wouldn't be a big red flag.
    As for OP... She shouldn't blame herself. Even if she hadn't reported Simone, the authorities would've found out eventually. It was only a matter of time until the police were on their doorstep. OP merely hastened the inevitable. Frank was also right in leaving Simone. Even if he had hired a lawyer, it's doubtful that he could've won the case, given how overwhelming the evidence was. Frank knew that Simone was a lost cause, and rightfully cut her off, knowing there was nothing he could've done.
    I would advise OP to get Frank some therapy, though. That's the only thing she can really do at this point. And I don't think Frank would care if OP tipped of the police, as Simone committed the crimes, not OP. Again, the police would've arrived eventually.

Now if other family members have something to say then tell them hey you pay for her BS you let her come stay with you because I'm done

    Yes, this is a essay more than a comment. But, I thought it important to share a story from my family, especiallyif it helps even one perso out there. First, OP is NTA for reporting the crime. A good parent does not let look the other way when they know their child commited a crime. A good parent makes sure their child is held accountable for daid crime, otherwise they will commit more crimes, and the type of crime will escalate.
    My cousin used to commit petty crimes when he was a teenager, and my sunt always found a way to get him out of the trouble. She would either pay the victim off, or flat out lie and give her son false alibis, and my cousins crimes just got worse and worse. That was until one day he came home and was flipping out. Apparently, a teenage couple were out for their prom, and went to the pier at the beach. My cousin and his friends decided to mug them when they saw they were alone. One thing led to another and one of his friends started to make inappropriate comments about what he wanted to do to the girl. Of course the girl boyfriend spoke up and stood in front of his girlfriend to protect her. Well, my coudins friend didn't like that, so he pulled out his butterfly knife and stabbed the young man in the stomach, and the young man died of his injuries a few hours later. There was no way mt aunt couldvtalk pr pay my cousins way out of that one and she called her sister (my mom) for help. My mom tolf my aunt the best thing my cousin could do was go right to the police, turn himself in, and give then the name of the person that did the stabbing. My aunt and cousin did just that. Even though my cousin did not commit the actual murder, he was convicted of involuntary manslaughter during the commission of a crime, and was sentenced to 9 years in prison, with the possibility of parole after 3 years. The guy that actually did the stabbing which caused the death of the young man was convicted of Third-degree murder, which is unintentional murder that resulted from malicious actions, and was sentenced to 20 years with the possibility of parole after 15 years. My cousin served 3.5 years, was paroled on good behavior. Thank goodness he changed his life and bacame a law abideing citizen, and productive member of society since then. He has a great career, has been married 19 years, and does not let his kids get away with crap the way his mom fid with him. My aunt realized the mistakes she made, so she didn't repeat the same mistakes with her younger sons, although they never behaved as their older brother, because I think they learned from his mistakes. The other guy ended up serving 23 years due to additional convictions for crimes he commited while in prison.

    OP, you are not the AH and any commenter who says you are hateful, and an AH is wrong. Simon made her own decisions when she got involved with a dog thief ring. And I find it funny that some commenters were jumping on OP for contacting the police for a real crime when her stepdaughter had turned her into the police for physically assaulting her and that was all a lie. Seems Simon was willing to make a false accusation of a crime to hurt OP and that is fine with you guys, but OP is condemned for letting the police know where a expensive missing dog was and giving them the information that her stepdaughters boyfriend brought it over and her stepdaughter watched it for a time. In the end if Simon had been innocent she would not have been arrested. And OP had noticed her stepdaughter purchasing items at a time when OP knew her husband wasn't suppling her money. Simon was a criminal and criminals sometimes get caught. It shouldn't be the person who calls the police who is to blame, it is the person who commits the crime. I personally believe that there should have been consequences from the police, and very severe consequences by the husband when Simon called the cops on OP and said OP physically assaulted her. So, this wasn't the first crime, or the only crime Simon had committed in the house, after all I believe that is against the law for someone to falsely accuse someone of assaulting them and wasting the time of police.

    Simone was a spoiled entitled brat, who had always got what she wanted when she wanted. The father and grandparents are guilty for making her that way. OP was stupid to give simones name to the dog owners as now she may be found out by her husband, who will leave her if he finds out OP was responsible for his daughter being found out and jailed.

    21:55, Fathers dont let kids ROT in jail unless the child has Repeatedly done behavior like this in the past... and I dont know why the Grand Parents expected Dad to Fix it when what she was doing was a Serious Crime... Did they think it was just one or two dogs, and not HUNDREDS?

    You don’t snitch on family and the fact she’s hiding it from her husband proves she knew this was wrong.

      I call BS on the you don't snitch on family. If they do the crime, they deserve the time. My oldest daughter was about 7 and we were at the mall in a little store that sold cheap stuff. It was back when Michael Jackson used to wear the one glove. My daughter had spotted one of these gloves and wanted me to buy it. I was a single mom at the time, living with my parents and not yet employed, so I had to tell her no. She was upset and begged a bit, but I told her if she keeps it up, we will go home and I wouldn't buy her the treat I had promised her. So, she said OK, and I thought that was the end.
      I got home with her a while later and when I was hanging up her coat, the glove fell out of her pocket. I hit the roof and confronted her about stealing the glove from the store. She was in tears, made excuses and it made me mad, so I told her to put her coat back on because she was going to go back to the store and return the glove, and whatever the store decided to do with her for stealing was just going to be. My father and mother jumped in trying to tell me that I was being too harsh and that it wasn't a big deal. My dad even told me he would pay for the damn glove because it wasn't worth making a big deal out of and stores like that overcharge for shit just to cover the shoplifting that was part of doing business. I couldn't believe what I was hearing from him, or the idea that he would actually say it in front of my daughter and undermined a commandment that I was raised with, and my parents insisted on. Thou shall not steal.
      I took her back to the mall, and I made her go to the clerk and ask if the manager was in. I made her give the glove back to the manager and confess that she had stolen it. The manager obviously was a kindhearted person who saw this little girl who was crying, and his heart was broken for her. He told her it wasn't a big deal. But I told him that it was a big deal and I wanted him to tell her what happens when an adult gets caught stealing from his store so she would understand stealing was a big deal and hurt people. So, he did tell her how much money the store lost, and how sometimes store people got fired for letting too much stuff get stolen when they were working. And he told her that when the items were small, and people got caught the punishment was that they were not allowed back into the store. So that was her punishment.
      Yes, I was harsh about it, but I didn't really feel I could afford to let this just slip by. I had friends in junior high and high school that used to shoplift and think they were really being smart and cool. But when they would finally get caught, they usually didn't have much in the way of consequences, but all of the rest of us students who never stole anything would end up banned from stores without parents with us or treated like we had to be followed and watched like criminals. I lost a lot of respect for my parents, especially my father that day. And later on, when my younger brother was caught shoplifting and my dad got called to the sporting goods store to get him out of it I actually heard my father say to my brother, as he was chewing him out, that if he was going to do something stupid like that again make sure he didn't get caught. So now I understood something about my dad and all of these rules we were told we had to obey. He didn't really care about us following the commandments and the rules, he just cared that we do not get caught. I am so glad that I was able to get on my feet and move me and my kids far away from my parents before they learned that the only thing wrong about breaking the law was getting caught.
