I’m still playing my launch day 2017 Switch, and it’s my most used console! Handheld and so many retro Nintendo games to play anywhere, anytime away from the restrictions of a TV screen. The console may be underpowered compared to Xbox and PlayStation, but the quality of games are far superior!! Nintendo first party games are a work of art. They rarely require post launch patches. They’re complete from Day 1. They rarely use loot boxes and DLC. You buy the game cartridge and you get the full experience. They retain their value. Breath of the Wild is still £30-40 whereas most Xbox games are £10 a few months after launch. People still buy and value 30+ year old Nintendo games because they’re are great value and legendary! That’s why you should buy a Switch in 2024.
I have both and use the Lite primarly. OLED is only in docked mode to play with my son some Mario (yep I bought OLED at the first place but it wasn't so good on the go so I tried with Lite and can't get over it). :D
I have the newer version of the older switch for 2 years, some buttons don't work and the screen doesn't work, soo i can only play on the TV, overall it's not bad
'stay away from the lite" - the lite is perfect for so many people. You don't do it justice. "The original you could only use cartridges due to the storage" - SD cards work for all models
I got an OLED Switch at launch. The screen is amazing and in addition to having amazing-looking games it's actually really great to watch shows on it on Hulu or other streamining services supported by Nintendo. I decided to get a Switch Lite a few months ago (blurple color which reminds me of the GameCube and GameBoy Advance) and the portability of it is incredible. Really easy to throw in my bag and take it wherever I go. I use the Switch OLED primarily as my living room console.
Love my Switch OLED it got me back into gaming after nearly fifteen years away from it. I’m 50 now but still enjoy playing Zelda and replaying Metroid Prime and Portal games. Still looks great and the portability of it is excellent. I’m sure it still will be popular for many years to come. Hopefully the next console will just improve on this already great design.
New switch member here, got the oled with a nice bundle at a pawn shop like a week ago and Imho Zelda is a beautiful game to play on the switch. I am currently on a TH-cam rabbit hole of finding more games to play.
My partner bought me a OLED switch back in February for my birthday and I love it, I'm addicted to star drew valley and waiting for the 1.6 update in November
I am loving my Nintendo Switch Oled I don't plan to get the Switch 2 at launch maybe 3 years into the Switch 2 life cycle when the system has enough games then I'll get one but for the time being I am going to stick with my Switch Oled
Just bought a switch OLED a couple weeks ago. Been tearing it up on Super Mario Bros 3 mainly because never played more than one or 2 levels on it back in the day. Even just for all of the old Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Gameboy, Gameboy Advanaced, and Nintendo 64 games I'd recommend getting this switch. I was playing a Wii U for the last 8 years and this is such a massive improvement. And I haven't gotten to play proper switch games like Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild or Pokemon Sapphire. Stoked for the months, and most likely years ahead with my Switch OLED. Switch 2.....probably see you in like 6 years😆.
iv had my switch oled now for a while the best thing about it is the nice big oled screen the blacks and the colours just look so good and the tv docking mode is handy to have one game that amazed my mind how good it ran wich is a must buy for the oled is rdr1 being able to play red dead on the go is pretty cool
This is a great overview on the Nintendo switch. I had mine for about a year and a couple months now and I have no regrets. It’s just that the games are highly overpriced on average at $60. I feel like they should be lower. Some games are even higher. It’s crazy.
I just ordered me a Nintendo switch oled yesterday now im waiting til it get delivered, i have a Nintendo switch lite also but i hardly play it, i want to the one with the joy sticks with a wide screen, always wanted try it out

I will wait for a newer one though, but I am sold now. I’m just really hesitant about digital games and monthly subscriptions. I would prefer physical games, but willing to give the switch a try.
I've had the Switch for a few years now (non-OLED). It has sat for the past few years but this summer I've picked it back up. Honestly, I'm amazed at the library of games and how will all 3 of the Nintendo Switch consoles handle today's games. It's a great price and offers a ton of portability. I love my PS5 but also admit I'd really enjoy a Sony handheld.
I also have a Nintendo Switch OLED, and i have great experience using the switch primarily as a hand - held console and the dock version to! It is very fun to play with your friends especially, and the OLED screen is goood. If you want to buy a mid range console, BUY the Nintendo Switch OLED!
Been a gamer for most my life, game boy > DS > Xbox 360 > Xbox one > gaming pc > even better gaming laptop. But now I’ve got the sudden urge to buy myself a Nintendo switch, idk wants brought it on, maybe because I’ve just graduated and now I’m at home excited for the winter nights in bed and can imagine myself playing Pokemon or Zelda while tucked up in bed, hmmmm, decisions…

Ha! I'm thinking exactly the same about FC25 (and I have a gaming PC and PS5), but something about having it handheld (and the wonder of something like that running on basically a tablet) is very alluring.
Man I totally get the feeling you are describing. I have fc24 in ps5 and recently I bought it also on switch. Although of the performance is night and day between the two, I find myself 9/10 times playing on my switch. There is something so appealing playing in handheld although the ps5 controller is inches away.
I own a Switch Oled, Steam Deck, and PS4. All great consoles, probably with the Steam Deck being my favorite. Switch Oled is great, too, especially if you really enjoy playing handheld, even if it is a bit underpowered. That library of games, both exclusives and third party titles is enormous, and in real world usage, it's hard to tell the difference... most of the time... that it's less powerful than so many other consoles that are currently out.
I’ve replaced my kids switch lite joy sticks and batteries several times. Honestly not that difficult. I did break one of the cases because they are so cheap bought u replaced that too and now they all look super cool. My favorite is the atomic purple.

Amazing video, totally agree with all. Buying an Oled has been one of the best decisions I ever made (even having ps4, XboxOne, N3DS, PC,NDS,ps2,etc). It's perfect
I just bought OLED last month. Really want a handheld since were all grown man now have work and a part time work, wife and kids. PS5 or xbox well no time to play anymore. NSwitch really is handy at times. I barely touch my gaming laptop.
It’s also the best value for a handheld device. Nintendo first party and the robust indie library gives plenty of value to any gamer. You don’t need a Steam Deck to run Stardew or Factorio.
I’ve had my Switch Lite for over 4 years, and despite the Switch 2 ultimately being revealed at some point next year, I still might consider upgrading to an OLED just as to be assured of what I was missing.
I got the Zelda version the day it came out and I was hesitant as I thought the new gen would come out soon, let me tell you, I'm so glad I got it, it's the perfect console for a quick fix after work or when visit comes over. Played thought all the Zelda games at my own pace, got Mario wonder, Hogwarts legacy, No man's sky and even Stardew Valley, I see myself still playing this console for years to come. It's a no brainer
Switch is affordable nowdays, the switch 2 will be able to buy and play new and old games. So do it if don't allready have a gaming system or systems yet, with nowadays everyone has VR or something else, handhelds, cloud, big console, or some type of upgraded pc, with streaming people can get away with just a controller 😊 I have grown to love the switch for personal play and mobility.
I bought the original before the OLED was announced. But here's how I would determine which to buy using their different modes: TV? Original. Handheld? Lite. Tabletop? OLED.
I have a switch OLED and I love playing handheld mode and tabletop mode. And yes I use my custom shelled Joycons and a 8bitdo pro 2 for tabletop mode. The OLED isn’t heavy imo
Got my first switch for free from Verizon. Sure it’s the original model but not gonna lie I’m loving it. I’m a hater and the switch did not appeal to me at all. But now that I have it, I completely get it.
Welcome haha. On paper, I get why PC and xbox (which inhave too) crap on it. But the experience is just great. Not only are smash, mario kart, zelda and more just awesome games, the handheld experience is fun
Switch OLED is my favourite console for the past three decades. I still love my N64, PS2, etc. but the Switch is something *different*. It is is just this wonderful hybrid home and handheld console. It's not quite the pocket form factor as the Gameboy/[3]DS type handhelds but it's still portable and then you can just pop it in a dock and play on a TV/monitor. It has everything I want and love in gaming. Sure it struggles a bit but where a lot of people don't "get" how I feel is that I play the games just to enjoy them, it isn't some competition for me. Of course I would love it if it could play TotK at a perfect 60fps but I will take the TotK we currently have that I can play just on the go over not having it at all or only being able to play it on a TV it just trades off one thing for another to me. See the thing is while Switch games are not perfect performance they're great fun and the majority (I would argue all major titles) are perfectly playable even if they do have moments of stutter and dropped frames. I have thousands of wonderful memories playing things like Dragon's Quest XI, Zelda Link's Awakening and Octopath Traveler chillin' in bed or on a plane or a train or just relaxing out in the park near where I live then continuing it on my nice OLED TV when I get home. I will take _that_ experience over a perfect 1080p 60fps game every time. For me the overall experience is better than just the framerate and resolution. Of course that's just me though and there's nothing wrong if what you prefer is a perfect 60 or 120 or 144 or 240fps at 4k with ray traced graphics. Everyone has different wants and measures of how they enjoy things. For me the Switch hits that balance pretty much perfectly and that is why I love it so much. It is just a hand sized little slab of fun and happiness to me that I can pop in my bag and enjoy anywhere.
I’m looking to get a switch very soon but I imagine I’ll be playing mostly through my tv (planing on playing monster hunter rise) so would the oled even be worth it in this case?
I argue switch is the only remaining true gaming console In its 8th year it has multiple exclusive titles that im excited for including new pokemon, Mario , Kirby and Metroid And more wild wacky titles In contrast the other consoles are focusing on SBI , DEI slop or live service shit
The way I see it, Nintendo is a games company. Playstation and Xbox are the product of two big tech companies that wanted to get a piece of the gaming market.
Personally the form factor, the size of the lite and the ease of traveling with it on the train, is much preferred than upgrading to the OLED. I play 95% handheld for Switch games but I also have my launch switch and an OLED tv so I dont feel like I'm really missing out. But if someone new wants just one switch I completely understand getting just the OLED.
got mine (oled) for my kid last dec. bought a switch type hdmi cord since we travel to my parents house every weekend and carrying the dock was a pain in our bag. also my uncle also got my cousin the oled yesterday. my uncle already has the ps4, i have the xb1x. so yes you could still buy the switch since its portable and mario games are just fun especially for the kids.
Ive been using my oled for 6 months now and i dont really check nintendo eshop because theres alot of good games that are right up my ally from 3rd partyports to first party games. Some indie games too, i remember trying not to buy windbound but nah i really like the premise of the game so i bought and now no mans sky is calling upon me. I can play all day with this, play couch coop with people who have no idea what video game is, and finally ill be able to play all zelda games that has and will be releasing on switch this is heaven.
This is such a nice video to look into the mind of a casual gamer… You emphasized on the portability, 3rd party, TH-cam, NSO and glossed over the real meaty 1st party library…. Saying if you just want a console to play on your TV just get a ps5 is CRAZY LMAO… thanks for the video it was an interesting watch into the mind of a casual gamer
Switch lite is a great way to play the switch. Yes you can still replace the sticks it’s just a bigger pain disassembling, and there’s an OLED screen replacement mod in the works for the Switch lite. The only problem is not being able to dock the switch lite
@@kidrobot. oh for some reason i thought the comment meant the nintendo switch’s games, not the switch itself. Yeah i dont think the nintendo switch lite is that expensive, but i do find the games way too expensive
I think the 3 variants we have is perfect for everyone. I use my switch lite at work and I work in warehouse I don’t want to lose the controllers and it’s so easy to pick up and play. Normal switch is perfect for children or for someone who just wants to play and doesn’t care about anything else. OLED for us gamers and people who care about graphics.
i was thinking of getting a oled since i have the v1 switch from 2017 with less battery life but after the rumors of the switch 2 coming out next year im probably gonna save up for it
I have a PS five but when I have my Nintendo switch, I play that more than I play my PS five I feel like the Nintendo switch games are more entertaining than my PS five games
The opening of the cardslot is as much as impossible with the OLED if you have short nails. I can't open it without a tool, which possibly damages it.(I have the TOTK edition). The first Switches had a easy to open cardslot. I don't understand why they changed this and it seems to me it's done deliberatly so you buy more in the e-shop. There was no need they changed this.
Just got a switch today and played Legend of Zelda:Breath of the wild for 5 hours… wow.
How is it. I want to get the OLED for my birthday in 2 weeks and im looking at getting zelda is it a good game and worth buying?

I just bought OLED last month. Really want a handheld since were all grown man now have work and a part time work, wife and kids. PS5 or xbox well no time to play anymore. NSwitch really is handy at times. I barely touch my gaming laptop.
im thnking about buying one this week! great video :)
It’s also the best value for a handheld device. Nintendo first party and the robust indie library gives plenty of value to any gamer. You don’t need a Steam Deck to run Stardew or Factorio.
I’ve had my Switch Lite for over 4 years, and despite the Switch 2 ultimately being revealed at some point next year, I still might consider upgrading to an OLED just as to be assured of what I was missing.
hey man love the videos keep up the good work !
So do it if don't allready have a gaming system or systems yet, with nowadays everyone has VR or something else, handhelds, cloud, big console, or some type of upgraded pc, with streaming people can get away with just a controller 😊 I have grown to love the switch for personal play and mobility.
good video, keep it up man
I bought the original before the OLED was announced. But here's how I would determine which to buy using their different modes:
TV? Original.
Handheld? Lite.
Tabletop? OLED.
I have a switch OLED and I love playing handheld mode and tabletop mode. And yes I use my custom shelled Joycons and a 8bitdo pro 2 for tabletop mode. The OLED isn’t heavy imo
Quality is so good for a smaller channel and I love the switch to this day.
Just got an OLED switch had to get it bc it’s my favorite console ever
Got my first switch for free from Verizon. Sure it’s the original model but not gonna lie I’m loving it. I’m a hater and the switch did not appeal to me at all. But now that I have it, I completely get it.
how did you get it for free??
Welcome haha. On paper, I get why PC and xbox (which inhave too) crap on it.
But the experience is just great. Not only are smash, mario kart, zelda and more just awesome games, the handheld experience is fun
@@kidrobot. it was a promotion for getting internet service and staying on it for three months
You seem like a great guy. God bless you!
Just ordered me and the wife a Nintendo switch oled I cant wait to get them.
Nice video mate! Subbed 👏
I’m looking to get a switch very soon but I imagine I’ll be playing mostly through my tv (planing on playing monster hunter rise) so would the oled even be worth it in this case?
Top tier video bro
I cant wait for the Switch 2!
I argue switch is the only remaining true gaming console
In its 8th year it has multiple exclusive titles that im excited for including new pokemon, Mario , Kirby and Metroid
And more wild wacky titles
In contrast the other consoles are focusing on SBI , DEI slop or live service shit
What is sbi and dei?
Awesome vid bro just earned a sub ❤😊😊😊
Nintendo will still support the Switch even when the Switch 2 is released.
The way I see it, Nintendo is a games company. Playstation and Xbox are the product of two big tech companies that wanted to get a piece of the gaming market.
lolllll
Agree about Xbox. Not sure about PlayStation. I get you though
@@Joker-yw9hl Yes Xbox for sure.
I have the OG Switch no OLED and I really want to upgrade but I don’t want to buy the OLED if the Switch OLED2 is coming soon.
I mean the system is still a classic no matter if Switch 2 comes out or not
got it for 20 days and its amazing i dont care about switch 2 for the next 2 years
100% I know I’m gonna upgrade eventually but it’s going to be a while. Just cause there are so many good games!!!
Any rumours about OLED switch 2 supporting Netflix and hulu? 😢 would really appreciate much
Wish it would support other streaming services like Max as well
Do u recommend me to get the oled one or wait until nintendo 2 came out on 2025? 🤔
This is such a nice video to look into the mind of a casual gamer…
You emphasized on the portability, 3rd party, TH-cam, NSO and glossed over the real meaty 1st party library….
Saying if you just want a console to play on your TV just get a ps5 is CRAZY LMAO…
thanks for the video it was an interesting watch into the mind of a casual gamer
Switch lite is a great way to play the switch. Yes you can still replace the sticks it’s just a bigger pain disassembling, and there’s an OLED screen replacement mod in the works for the Switch lite. The only problem is not being able to dock the switch lite
I got NS Lite but thinking if I'll upgrade to OLED or wait for the next gen NS.
Buying the nintendo switch has been my dream forever but just cant afford it :(
Work and saving will get you a switch👍
Theyre expensive af, i would buy every nintendo game ever if they were cheaper
@@skelerpupis2447 isnt it like $175 used?
@@kidrobot. oh for some reason i thought the comment meant the nintendo switch’s games, not the switch itself. Yeah i dont think the nintendo switch lite is that expensive, but i do find the games way too expensive
@@skelerpupis2447 sorry, english isnt my 1st language. but yeah, the games can be expensive
cool video man, keep it up
Thank you man ❤
I think the 3 variants we have is perfect for everyone. I use my switch lite at work and I work in warehouse I don’t want to lose the controllers and it’s so easy to pick up and play. Normal switch is perfect for children or for someone who just wants to play and doesn’t care about anything else. OLED for us gamers and people who care about graphics.
i genuinely laughed out loud when I read the title and thumbnail
If it got a price cut I’d upgrade. Just for the better screen. The OG one is basically impossible to see outside.
i was thinking of getting a oled since i have the v1 switch from 2017 with less battery life but after the rumors of the switch 2 coming out next year im probably gonna save up for it
The oled should be fully backwards compatible with the next switch
I have a PS five but when I have my Nintendo switch, I play that more than I play my PS five I feel like the Nintendo switch games are more entertaining than my PS five games
The opening of the cardslot is as much as impossible with the OLED if you have short nails. I can't open it without a tool, which possibly damages it.(I have the TOTK edition).
The first Switches had a easy to open cardslot. I don't understand why they changed this and it seems to me it's done deliberatly so you buy more in the e-shop. There was no need they changed this.
Sup guys just wondering, is it worth buying is it durable is the hardware durable do i need to change the termal paste?
I will wait for Switch 2 comes out only to buy Switch Oled when its price becomes lower.
