Great review. I think Nintendo is on the right track with "hybrid" system. They definitely need to up the power resolution they are on to something. I hope they drop a switch 2 4k 120 at least in dock mode. I think this is best alternative for future consoles. I love my switch.
This past Christmas I gifted my son a Nintendo Switch Oled & I found that in the little time I've played it, that it far exceeded my expectations of what it would actually be and do. I thought it was just going to be kind of gimmicky and mainly for someone my son's age, but I was impressed by the Oled panel, and the way games looked and played in handheld. It made me wish I was a kid who got it for Christmas 😅.
I use my switch more than my ps4 and pc. Its awsome to be able to bring it to work with me. That being said, its not great for many aaa 3rd party games. Indies and 1st party nintendo games are what the switch is built for
@@ComradeChyrk dying light and the Witcher 3 and saints row and the doom games run great. I’d rather play on PlayStation but the switch ports are great. Just putting this out there.
@Boga Destroyer yeah I hear you but once you play on the oled it’s like getting a color tv after having a black and white tv. Feels like a new console and ya just can’t go back. Seems like a small upgrade but it makes a huge difference. Now if you play on an oled tv and not in hand help then you won’t worry yo upgrade but also the screen is bigger though it may not be by much it’s very noticeable.
My ps5 is almost never touched. As a young adult, there's really no time to sit on the couch and play on your console for 3hrs. With the switch, Im able to just leave the switch on standby while im occupied or needed to go somewhere else and resume the game whenever during the weekend. I also find it convenient that i can just fire up my switch during my free time at work. Edit: if im getting a steamdeck, I'd rather just upgrade my pc
I’ve always been a Nintendo gamer and have always loved Mario. When I got to college I bought an X Box and played it only a handful of times for this exact reason. Now that I’m married the idea of me taking over the living room to play a game by myself just isn’t happening where I can instead play my switch while we watch TV, my wife reads or kids are playing their switch and we can all be together.
I'm an older gamer and have all 3 consoles and usually buy all the newest games but for some reason, the Switch is what ends up taking up most of my time. I think it's the simplicity of it and being able to go back into a game whenever I want, without having to remember what each of the 8 buttons on the controller did when I played the PS5 or Xbox game, 3 or 4 months ago. I don't have the time to play games every day or even every weekend but I do enjoy it when I can and it makes me feel like a kid again. Great video, you definitely have a great voice for making videos, so best of luck with your channel..
@@JamieReynolds89a lot of ~30 year olds (and greater) who grew up gaming and now work full time probably fit into this category. Money to buy all the shiny new things, barely any time to use them.
@@1Pandemooniumlol, same here. I was so excited to buy the Series X at 36, but I only played 2 games on it. Once you get older, you don’t have the time and stamina like your 16-year-old past self.
As a busy father of one and soon to be two as well as being a CPA and traveling overnight for work maybe 30 days out of the year, the switch is honestly what revolutionized my gaming and brought my love for the hobby back. I have a XSX and a PS4 and I barely get any time to sit in front of my tv to play them but I can play my switch in bed when everyone else is asleep or when I’m on the road. I play almost 90% handheld at this point and absolutely love my OLED!
I casually threw on this review to see the perspective, and I’m immediately blown away by your narrative and speaking skills paired with your professional writing and filming style. Really, truly some awesome work here. Especially because I relate to a lot of your perspectives as a gamer as well. Thank you for sharing!!!
It was a well done video, although I disagree with it wholeheartedly. Nintendo's just a rehash console cashing those nostalgia checks from those of us who grew up with Nintendo. Although Nintendo refuses to grow up with us. Zelda is the only reason I've even boughten a Switch.
@@Jmurder209 Nintendo is revolutionary while everyone else is evolutionary. The amount of controller changes that Nintendo is responsible for, you wouldn't be holding your PS5/XSX controller without them. PS, Zelda by itself is worth the console and trumps every single game on any other console. Horizon Zero Dawn - copycat. What's new? Everybody copies Nintendo. Sorry, Sony and MS just compete over the best graphics while losing to a superior PC. That leaves you then to the quality of the games, you are kidding yourself if you think otherwise.
@@elmalloc I wouldn't say all that. As it was originally SEGA that forced nintendo to step it up, followed by Sony completely edging them from day one... only having one Gen of console be beaten which was the PS3 to the Wii.. aside from that Sony has singlehandedly dominated from the console part of gaming that is.. Now I do agree that Zelda is worth a buy on its own, happens to be amongst my favorite titles since my early teens.. however to say it beats everything on the other platforms is purely a one sided perspective and opinion in which you are rightfully entitled to have.. Does Zelda stack up to the others like GOW, Halo, uncharted, Tomb Raider, metal Gear etc. Well yes it does... is it immediately and unquestionably better.. Well no it isn't IMO... What Nintendo has always done is keep our childhood alive and preserve our innocence in the form of games... as. Father a football size family lol... I wholeheartedly enjoy the continued local multi-player games like Mario Kart, Mario Party, Smash Bros etc. I also have always respected the fact that on all of there systems since Gen 3 I believe... all systems made by nintendo have come with that ability already available.. The Switch to me is revolutionary as you stated I definitely agree with that.. the 3 variances in which you can play has opened a plethora of gaming capabilities unlike anything before. With the accessories as well travel cases etc. Bringing the switch on the go is def the best thing I could ask for. As I can pack in in something the size of a standard lunch box.. Dock included which means fun time all the time. It's been a staple for entertainment at my job as well when downtime is present. All in all.. I respect nintendo for sticking to there guns and vision even tho I don't always agree with the angles... But I can say I've been enjoying building my switch library up. In the end Gamers win! Cheers mate.
Oh god, i coudln’t relate more to this video. I bought the switch OLED recently to play with my older son and jeez, it exceeded my expectations by far. I havent touched my 3k computer in a month!! Idk whats going on with me, I went from playing only AAA shooters to Luigi Mansion 3 lol. Being a father of young kids, makes it so convenient to just game here and there. You can just pause the game, put it to sleep and pick right back where u are. The prices of nintendo games are definitely high, but they also hold their value if you ever plan on reselling some games
@@GoTEnjoyerMatt At least Nintendo doesn't abandon their products after a couple of months.. unlike Valve. And also, despite the fact that the Switch is so underpowered, it's closing in on becoming the best sold console of all time. The Steam Deck could call it a win if they manage to get 10% of the sales the Nintendo Switch will get. So crawl under your rock and bugger off.
@@GoTEnjoyerMatt It's a PC that most games aren't even compatible with. And regardless, it's a PC that will sell about 10% of the total consoles the "Toy" sold. You see, people use consoles to play for fun, not performance. And that's something that the Steam Deck won't be able to provide as much as the Switch does.
I have to say this was on of the best reviews/deep dives of the Nintendo Switch OLED that I have seen(plus you have a great, relaxing voice to boot). I also love how you mentioned that you are also rocking other systems that are better hardware wise but why you have been using the Switch more on the go. I also had to write down all the games you recommend and I hope to get to most of them(if not all) eventually. As an owner of the original switch(I purchased it a few years back) who played it a lot and kind of haven't touched it, I have been thinking about getting an OLED(I would sell the old one to offset the cost) or maybe just using this one for a while longer you definitely reignited my passion into getting back into it. Thanks again and you got yourself a like and a new subscriber 🎮🎮
Exact same experience, I have always been a PlayStation guy but now that I am older I find myself not having time to sit in front of the TV and game. Enter the Nintendo switch OLED and I’ve been able to get some of that magic back especially with these awesome ports!
As a Xbox series x and a rather high end PC owner the OLED switch is hiding it's age shockingly well and I love the OLED panel. 2017 nostalgia is real with totk
I bought a Switch OLED two days ago. Overall very pleased with it. But hiding its age it is not. My very first experience with this device was opening up the eShop. A horrible, horrible experience. It's almost unusable. I recommend anyone open up the eShop on their android phone instead. More importantly, the frame rate on some of its game ports aren't acceptable in an "updated, premium" 400 euro device. Nintendo has a long history of following up a successful hardware release with a complete flop. The Switch 2 is at a real risk of being substantially under powered. There are already sub 300 handhelds that blow the switch Oled's GPU/CPU out of the water.
Thank you for this video. So many of my "hardcore" gamer friends call the Switch a kiddie console. That couldn't be further from the truth. Playing Doom Eternal and Dying Light on the go is worth the price alone and cannot be overstated.
It's due to the 1st party games that make it seem that way. I do love my switch over my ps4. But Mario, Pokemon, Kirby are more kid friendly but it's definitely made for all audiences.
One of the best, most professional videos I have come across on youtube. Even my wife walking past the tv sat down and actually watched it with me. I had a very similar switch experience. My wife bought me the oled switch and after being a heavy xbox, playstation and pc gamer, I believed I would use the switch for exclusives only. I have barely touched those for the past month or so and the switch is my new favourite console by a long shot. I find I have a lot more patience for older games like castlevania, megaman and sonic on the switch handheld instead of the TV whilst still marveling at something as epic as zelda handheld. Amazing console but almost glad my first experience is the oled model. I look forward to your future videos, liked and subscribed. great job!
This is indeed the best summary about this amazing video game console that I have ever seen. You really struck a chord with me, especially on the subject of kids and being a parent. I love being able to play in handheld mode games that my kids aren’t suppose to see or that they are not interested in. Also, being able to play games for short bursts now and then is the absolute key feature for me. I’ve always been a huge PlayStation fan, but the PS5 is collecting dust while I gravitate towards my switch being my main (or only) console I game on.
This is the same for me... My PS5 has literally seen almost no use, while my Switch gets used at least five days a week. I bought my PS5 for one game specifically back when PS5s were still very difficult to get, and since then, I have seldom bought any games for it, because the choice was between Switch and PS5 and I always select the Switch version.
Well done. As a father of two, and a gamer, I've recently been enjoying more remote play. Now as a new switch lite owner, I look forward to a new frontier of games and also some others I would love to have as a handheld. It definitely helps to keep gaming accessible when your time is limited and life changes around you.💪👍
@TL You know it! Kids changed my gaming landscape. Remote gaming became clutch if I wanted to enjoy gaming throughout fatherhood. If its not the switch, it's gaming on my phone connected to the Xbox. 🙂 Now my son is almost 4, and my daughter is creeping up behind him now. So occasionally I'll let him watch me or play something easy with me like split-screen racing. Before that I could trick him into just holding another controller while I played. Now his eyes have been opened to controlling what's on screen. So it's a balance like everything. Good bonding tool occasionally also or reward. 💪😊👍 Enjoy fatherhood! 😁
The switch had the same effect on me. My main console was the PS4 thinking I would return to it after playing Breath of the Wild. I also have a gaming PC that I have completely abandoned for the Switch. It sounds crazy but it's the reality. Knowing I'm not the only one makes me feel less crazy. The Switch's OLED screen was amazing to look at, I also bought the skull and co. grip to take advantage of a more comfortable handheld experience. The Switch has been my main console for the past 5 months now.
The opposite happened to me. Owned the switch for 4 years, bought the OLED, and used it for about 6 months before I got my PC and started emulating switch in 4k on PC… Gave my OLED away to someone else
The main console will always be whatever you’re drawn to playing the most. It was the Switch for me, but after a while of Nintendo’s bullshit and just not playing video games in general, I gave it away to my friend. Right now the only console that has my interest is the Xbox Series.
Purchased one. I’m only use the switch in handheld mode (I don’t even have the dock hooked up) so this was built for me. I agree with the sentiment that this is what the switch should have been when in originally launched. I was more than happy to upgrade from my launch model. Also, as a newer dad, I could not agree more about this being perfect for gamer parents. It’s so easy to jump into a game for a bit while my 2yo watches Encanto for the millionth time.
Have all 3 with 4 kids. Thw oled blew me away. I got it to mostly distract the kids and I've put more time on it than my ps5 and x since I bought it. Love the portability and simplicity. Even with x cloud it's just not the same. Microsoft needs its on handheld where you can download directly too it. Perfect platform for gamepass
Awesome review and I totally agree. A lot of people don't even consider the switch because they are so focused on high fps and the best hardware. But Nintendo knows how to make amazing games, and your missing out on a lot if you disregard the switch just because of its sizes and power
To be honest I wasn't that excited when my girlfriend wanted to get us a switch since she really loved AC. I still had my PS4 that time and already satisfied with the games that I have. After the purchase and getting to play with it myself, I was surprised that I enjoyed it and felt that I need to get one myself and since the switch has more games for coop. A week passed, I got myself a Switch Lite so that I could take it wherever. Really satisfied with my purchase.
@@richardabreu1468 I was referring to Animal Crossing. But she was interested in playing Assassin's Creed again when she found out there was a switch port.
@@TheMissingLink2 thank you. Luckily I still haven't encountered any issue since I bought mine. I do tend to be extra careful when we found out that both the regular and lite has drifting issues. *Knock on wood*
dude same story here she loved AC and had a switch lite. i bought one with my tax return and now im addicted to smash. before i played on pc and the new xbox
Sitting here day 3 with no power after Fiona did her thing. Looking at my Series X and PS5 on the shelf thinking it's time to complete my console collection and get a switch OLED. This was an awesome video. You have convinced me to take the plunge. Thank you!
As someone who loves both Xenoblade 1 and 2 I would still recommend going through 1 first. 1 had the more focused and well paced main story along with a better main character. 2 I felt was better for the battle system and supporting characters. Without going into spoilers I will say that 2 does have a satisfying tie in to 1 so it still makes more sense to play 1 first. The music for both games are fantastic as well. Hope this helps!
@@willie3ero then you didnt understand the combat system that well , but i too had my fair share of issues understanding it .. and needed youtube guides to fully understand it ... the blame is ofc on the dev team side .. the tutorials vanish after only showing once .. and you cant revisit them in game afaik. but yeah i agree playing them in order makes the most sense
My first Xenoblade was XC2, followed with Torna, and I’m having such a hard time with XC1 because I’m so used to the other battle system. I’ll push through to prepare for XC3!!
Both Xenoblade 1 and 2 have very strong stories. 1 has stronger early game pacing and hook, and will drag you along very strongly, while 2 is a slower burn with a stronger 2nd half compared to 1 imo and a bigger focus on worldbuilding and character moments. When it comes to gameplay, 2 is significantly better than 1, but 1 isn't bad once you get used to it...just a bit dated and clunky compared to 2. That said, either way you are in for a ride. These are games from the mind behind Xenogears and Xenosaga, many of the development team behind Chrono Trigger, and with music by Yasunori Mitsuda. The development studio is also heavily responsible for the world in Breath of the Wild and Skyward Sword. 2 also had Nomura brought on board as a character designer.
@@Whatsup_Abroad only if you try to play it as an action-adventure instead of an rpg. Figure out the characters, their roles, what items do what things for what characters, figure out how pouch items work properly, and invest your WP and skill points. There's also the combo stuff but that comes naturally if you have the fundamentals down correctly.
@@badlatency9979nice to see some good praise come with XC2. Agree with most of your points. Only gripe is it’s a pity that the Tutorial for 2 doesn’t do the battle system justice compared Torna the golden country, or 1 or heck X for that matter. Still need to get my hands on Xenoblade DE even though I own the 3D release of the game.
@@maroXUprising I agree, most of my issues with 2 are the pacing around chapters 2 and 3 which kinda feel like they bleed into one another, and things like the tutorials not being great and not being archived to reread. And the VA of a couple of the Torna people was absolutely Square-Enix tier horrible. If it weren't for these isssues I'd probably rank Xenoblade 2 higher than 1. Biggest other gripe I have has more to do with the fanbase than the game, putting out false information, or more readily heavily spoiling the game than 1, or just bad takes in general.
@@badlatency9979 seems like a lot of people had problems with chapters 2 & 3. Of course I understand why people would feel that way if you compare it to Xenoblade 1’s chapters 2 & 3. I’m the opposite of that tho, 2 & 3 were fine in pacing. But that’s just me. Oh yeah, that’s another gripe I agree with. The fanbase is so split both sides having bad takes here & there. Though It’s a pity that 2 gets the most hate & spoiled for newcomers online for sure because of these idiotic of hot takes. Both 1 & 2 have pros & cons. And love them both equally. I won’t delve into X all that much since I myself never experienced the game, but one things for sure X is a stepping stone that showcases Monolithsoft experience has grown with each new xeno release. Anyways the mixed bag of Xenoblade fandom is Pretty much same issue as what had happened with the Fire Emblem Fandom when Awakening aimed to cater to a casual audience.
I will preface this with this, I have been a PC gamer since my Teens so high Graphical Fidelity has always been a big part of an enjoyable experience for me. I understand some people will not care as much or others are much more flexible than I am. I bought a Switch when it first came out and never touched it after I completed Breath of the Wild. When the pandemic was in full force and I had to WFH for nearly a year I started getting into using my Switch. I decided I really wanted to make my Switch digital library more robust because I wanted a bunch of cool games to be on the go for me. I started buying games I was interested in, and frequently shopping the Nintendo deals and grew my library quit a bit. I will have to say in my personal experience I am not a huge fan of the Switch ports of games was they are not great. Mortal Kombat 11 hair kills me. The blurry-ness of World War Z is hard to ignore if you play it on the PC or any of the current gen consoles. Monster Hunter Rise came out exclusive for the Switch for a while and I was beyond hyped as I love Monster Hunter games, my wife and I got ourselves a copy and played the heck out of the game. I ignored the graphically issues with the game...it struggles to even maintain 30fps (in busy maps/more people you average between 25-30FPS and the frame dips are noticeable) flying creatures off in the distance looks like they very bad animatronic beings. I continued to play the game anyways for some time until I basically was waiting for more content to release... Fast forward to Today, wife and I decided to get the MHR for our PC since the expansion comes out next month and we figure we can have fun building up again and this time around we know exactly what we want for gear, and I have to say playing the game on my IPS 100hz ultrawide monitor on high graphical settings has been the greatest experience ever. Both my wife and I have similar desktops down to the monitors and we both agree the added smoothness of the FPS game has helped us play even better as our dodge timing was even more spot on. It felt like playing a whole new game. On top of this my wife and I both have Steam Decks, so we played Rise on our PC... then we ate dinner watched some TV and instead of going back to the PC she got her Deck out and I docked my decked to the TV and we started playing more Rise. lol. My Switch as of right now is mostly for the Nintendo Exclusive games, and party games that we can play with the kids (we also have family that plays Mario Kart and such with online) I feel the Switch still has its place but the market dominance of being a portal device is starting to come to an end because of major player such as Valves Steam Deck releasing at comparable prices as the Nintendo but with much more powerful hardware (there are other products like the Aya Neo or OneXplayer, but they can not compete with the Decks or Switches pricing) I agree Nintendo will need to beef up its hardware for sure, but I wonder what other changes could be made to keep the Switch on top. (this is even assuming the Switch is even continued in the next iteration of their consoles, Nintendo does have a reputation of changing the formula and not afraid to innovate)
The versatility of the switch has sold it for me, I have a full spec $10k gaming pc and a ps4 pro and haven't touched either since buying the switch. The pinnnalce of gaming would be a mix of the steam decks power and specs (not first gen but later models) with the versatility of the switch.
I have a modest PC but enough to run most AAA Ultra 1080p and I really enjoyed it. I also had my fair share of consoles from PS1-PS4, Xbox 360-One and Gamboys all kinds and PSP as well. I like them all and PSP was the best handheld for me until the Switch Oled which is my First Nintendo Console since Original Wii. I'm freaking addicted to this thing, I fell in love right away. Battery is excellent too. Being able to play in bed and on TV anytime is the best thing in the world. Cons are: - it's thin and a grip is necessary for comfort - 720/1080 is not the best but who cares its very clear to my eyes especially with Oled screen - Green tint issue is very annoying in Dark scenes and color shift is bad at certain brightness - Games are kinda expensive (I'm all digital) but I never buy full price only discounted but some major titles never get discount and honestly it can be justifiable - Slight wiggle joycon - You will need alot of accessories and probably a 2nd dock/charging station with cable input from the side - No Blue Light Filter - Dark theme don't apply to eshop, News, and Online page which is stupid and blinding at night None of these cons will stop me from playing and I can live with them. I try to buy Nintendo exclusives only because I can play all the other games on my PC, Xbox, PS4. Not to mention emulators, but man I want all the games on the switch because of how good the experience is. I'm glad I bought it and enjoy yours as well.. 👍
@@blxckghxst_0 yeah mine is all the top of line parts from 2020 (pre covid shirtage) i went all in for it the total cost of the whole set-up with desk and chair with a ups for power surges , gen4 m.2 ssd's, x570 motherboard, ryzen 9 3900x, LG ultra gear monitor, only got the 2080 super though, didn't see a point with the 3080 at the time due to shortages, me and two Mates built them soley for total war games at max settings lol.
I agree with you. I think steam is going to have the market in a chokehold. Keeping your games forever. Is a huge plus. Also makes devs have to develop more games. And not get away with continuous re-releases
I have a Series X, One X and Switch (Day-1 and OLED). The Switch got the most play right out of the gate, and usually in handheld. I’m also a father of 2 young kids, and I can relate to everything you said 100%. It’s not a love of Nintendo- it’s literally my first Nintendo console since NES (yes, I’m one of the 100 people who didn’t buy a Wii 😂). That convenience factor led me to try games I would never consider, and I was surprised how much I loved them. I also used it for Crysis, Darksiders, NBA, Doom, etc, which would typically be Xbox games for me. Probably the most telling experience is that I got Darksiders II on 360, played 75% of it and put it down forever. I got it again for Switch, started from scratch of course, and finished the whole game. I also replayed the original Darksiders and Crysis 2, which is something I never do. Anyway, I could ramble about this forever 😂. Much love for the Switch!
I got my first Switch about 2 months ago, I got the OLED one. As someone who has only played games on PlayStation consoles (and a little on iPad and iPhone) for the past 9 years I was at first a little unsure if I would truly enjoy the Switch. I have a ps5 that I love and it’s my favorite console right now but I really do enjoy the versatility of the Switch. It is so nice to have the option to curl up in bed with the switch and a cup of tea and play before bedtime. I’m really enjoying the games too, these are games I’ve wanted to play got a long time but they were never released to Ps :)
Before buying the switch my most concern was the drift. Because I've read about that much people talk about it I thought it will happen to me, or that it'll be a thing that "WILL" happen. I've had the console for almost 2 years and it goes as well as when I just bought it. Obviously, only time will tell but for everyone thinking about buying a Switch this is my recommendation: don't think about it. There's only a small chance it can happen. And even if it happens, you can fix it
I had my v2 for 2 years too and I can consider myself a a very active gamer but my joycon didn't drift. I still have no idea why people get theirs drift after few months.
This is an awesome review! I had the same prospectives as well when playing my switch. Lately, I’ve been putting a lot of time in Handheld mode than in docked, I feel more inclined to play in short burst during the day since I’m always busy, which led me to buying a lot of third party games on my switch. Added in with some games having cross play/ cross save compatibility, like the Witcher 3 and hades, makes pc gaming and switch gaming a near perfect gaming experience
Just bought this as a bundle at Costco yesterday for Xmas for my son. My son really likes the Wii sports and I did not know that the switch could be used on the TV as a dock for the family to play I just assumed that I was gonna buy a used wii. I assumed the switch was just a handheld game for kids. I was so wrong. I’m 40 years old and my video game experience was just playing madden FIFA play NBA as a teenager. Knowing that I could play some sports games on here makes it such a versatile console. Thank you for this great review And explaining everything. I’ve been out of the loop for 20 years.
These reviews are high quality content, as a recent switch oled buyer and lifelong pokemon lover Legends Arceus has become a dream come true for me. Your narrating is perfect as well, easy to listen to and almost soothing, thank you!
I bought the Oled months and I havent even bothered connecting the dock my tv. Not only would I be missing the oled vivid colors playing portable, but also, if Im going to play a game on my big screen I rather play it on my PS5 or X to enjoy the full specs. I loved playing Doom portable and have no issues playing it at 30 fps on the go. But on the big screen, knowing that I can play the same game at 4k and 60 fps is a no brainer. The switch is meant to be played portable.
A very good review, from the perspective of a 'serious' gamer. I similarly picked up a Switch OLED a few months ago, and figured it would never outpace my PS4. I was wrong. The portability and quality of games has drawn me over to the point where I rarely play my PS4. Also, nice reviews on games and accessories. I'll have to pick up a few of these!
I stumbled upon your video and you literally described my use case. I as well have a PS5, Xbox series x and PC. I haven't played Nintendo games since the original Wii, i did purchase the Wii U but literally played it for like a month and never touched it again. I also thought of the switch as a normal console and just underpowered and never appealed to me, however, recently I've been using Xbox Gamepass and Xbox remote play to play on my phone using the gamesir type c controller which btw is similar to the switch controller pretty much a copy cat. Since I've been gaming often from my coach bc i have a 6 and 8 year old and need to be around often I found myself gaming from my phone a lot more than vs going to my basement where I have my PS5, Xbox and PC. Typically i go there when the kids are asleep and game a little late night. Long story short i picked up a switch OLED 1 month ago and this has been a game changer. I do wish Xbox Gamepass was available on the switch but still playing some of the ported games and exclusives have been amazing. I also remapper my buttons as well because I'm so used to playing Xbox and ps5 that it kept messing me up (muscle memory is a real thing). Anyhow I enjoyed this video because you basically described my gaming experience and can relate. Have a good day.
When I bought my Switch I had no idea I would end up playing it as much as I have, but there's something about being able to play a game on the go, then come home and just slap it into the dock and continue the exact same game in the exact same spot, knowing you can grab it and head out the door without a hitch later. Yeah its not a "powerhouse console", but it is an amazing piece of tech that isn't like anything Sony or Microsoft have even dreamed. I gave up on consoles, and haven't really owned one since the PS3, opting for games on my PC instead, but I bought a Switch to play Monster Hunter with my brother and to eventually play Metroid Dread. I ended up buying more games than I had planned and I love it! There are such great games! My only real complaint is that gyro controls on the Switch pro controller have spoiled me on first person shooters. I prefer gyro with a controller than keyboard mouse. It just feels so much better having so many buttons in hand at once while maintaining the mouse like accuracy of gyro controls. It may not be exactly the same, but, man, its close.
Get yourself a PS Vita if you don't own one. Unlock it's power and enjoy the best handheld to ever exist in it's price range. Modern handhelds that are powerful cost a lot...P4P the Vita is a beast
Not only do you got the PlayStation 5 you got the switch over there I love the whole white thing let's go I'm happy you dropped another video true I love your intro music
Great review. I'm in the same boat where I find myself mostly playing in handheld mode while keeping an eye on the kids. I bought myself an OLED for Christmas, my first new system since Wii U (and before that, 360 😮). Being able to play away from the TV is a game changer.
Next gen Switch will remain 720p but that's the right choice. The extra power needed to render 1080p would deplete battery life and set us back to struggling frame rates. There's a reason SteamDeck also chose 720p. It's the ideal handheld resolution. But for docked, it seems it will utilize DLSS upscaling to hit 4k. I'm expecting March 2024 release.
I think that they should focus on boosting frame rates instead. Boosting Breath of the Wild from 30 fps to 60 fps and Smash Ultimate from 60 fps to 120 fps at a native 1080p resolution with DLSS features enabled while docked would be amazing.
The chip in the next switch should be fairly powerful and 1080p shouldn't be a problem as arm chips should be more efficient than what's in steam deck, saying that I'm fine with 720p for handheld mode I just hope we get more 60fps game and better render distances. Also my bet is march 2023, big Zelda E3 with name reveal then a direct about October with botw2 and switch 2 reveal and the same release date for both.
How can I dislike this comment 1000 times lol what the heck is a dress deck? That thing looks awful look at that button placement no one will be able to play no game with that lol
For Xenoblade, every game has its own story with its own unique start and end. It’s exciting the way the stories tie together, but 1 and 2 are great on their own without any knowledge of the other and in no particular order. I expect Xenoblade 3 to also be accessible to newcomers without needing to understand ties to the other games in the story.
I’ve had a switch since launch and I would say that i probably played the switch more than my ps4/5 over that time. It’s been a bit of a revelation. The ability just to curl up on the sofa/in bed and carry on with your games is wonderful and honestly trumps graphics or power etc. Id actually be over the moon if Sony released a hybrid too, especially now with their new subscription service with access to older games.
I'm probably playing this thing 80-90% in handheld. Technically the only reason for me to own a Switch since I'm not a huge Nintendo fan. Though I have enjoyed a lot of their first party games on the Switch (BotW, Splatoon, Mario Kart, Smash, Xenoblade, etc.). But anyway... handheld is pretty much the only way I can play games these days, especially when things get so busy, so the Switch is such a boon. It's just more convenient to play on. I even get to play occasionally tedious, grindy games that I love like Diablo, Warframe, and Monster Hunter. Now if only I can get my hands on a Steam Deck, things would be perfect in my gaming life.
@@vdoza33 I don't really buy consoles for those games. And a lot of those, I only really enjoyed for the first time on the Switch. Played Mario Kart and Smash on the 3DS VERY briefly. I think the only series I actually "dived" into before was Zelda. And that was just Link Between Worlds (actually finished it). edit: Oh yeah... I forgot, I actually spent a couple hundred of hours on Pokemon X and Animal Crossing on the 3DS too. But only because of FOMO, since everybody I know who has a 3DS were playing those. I DID enjoy them very much, but I'm not really that interested in the newer ones. Maybe Arceus one of these days.
@@clockwork204 dude you sound like a Nintendo fan. Idk why you’re scared to admit it. I like Nintendo and I haven’t even played or cared about Pokémon since middle school. I’m 30. You clearly like a lot of Nintendo content. You just said so more than once.
@@vdoza33 I'm not really sure why it matters to you so much if I label myself as such or not. Simple fact is, it's just not true. I think it's disrespectful to actual fans. edit: Okay, maybe that's a bit much. To rephrase it, I just don't want to misrepresent anyone.
Monster Hunter Rise is like all I play on it now and I have it on pc as well lmao just something about playing in bed or anywhere else that's not at a desk appeals to me more. The switch oled rules!
I was on a major Switch kick for months. Something about being able to bring it to the couch and laying down just made it more desirable. But after awhile, playing on that limited library started to get to me. That and my PS5 & Series X were literally gathering dust. Kind of a waste of hardware to keep playing a console that game out in 2017… and who’s first party output has slowed considerably. The Switch is an awesome digital/indie machine.
Metroid Dread was made for this console I swear, and Dread mode is the perfect amount of challenge for the hardcore gamers coming from “grown up” games. Stick drift is real and my theory is that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the biggest offender of it, I think the stick wears out real quick with drift boost mechanics and people hitting the home menu while in that drift, like it confuses the standby position or something. I’d love it if someone could open a joy con up and see if that’s true or not.
I have a ps5 and a switch lite, just got the Oled last week, and I love it! So far I’d say I’ve been about 50/50 between tabletop mode and handheld. Currently playing through Crisis Core Reunion and loving it. Brilliant review! I love the switch for its versatility and sheer volume of games for it
I mainly play my Nintendo Switch in hand held, and play the PS5 on tv. Both consoles have significant value and place in my heart, albeit for different reasons. Currently playing Triangle Strategy on the Switch and Horizon Forbidden West on the PS5. If you’re thinking of picking up Xenoblade Chronicles 3, I recommend that you also consider playing 1 & 2 (though not entirely necessary but I think you’ll likely enjoy the story better). Take note though Xenoblade has a rather unique battle mechanic which might not to everyone’s liking. Also, if you like strategic rpg then I recommend Fire Emblem 3 houses and Triangle Strategy, there’s a demo for the latter.
1) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 2) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild 3) Super Smash Bros Ultimate 4) Kirby and The Forgotten Land 5) Luigi's Mansion 3 6) Super Mario Odyssey 7) Overcooked 2 8) Metroid Dread 9) Rayman Legends 10) Hollow Knights 11) Zelda: Link's Awakening 12) Animal Crossing 13) Super Mario 3D All Stars
absolutely top tier review. i’ve been considering buying a switch oled but have been sceptical about whether it’s worth buying it so late into this gens lifetime. after watching this, i’m definitely going to be buying the switch oled. i’ll also be subscribing :)
Your videos are awesome dude, keep up the good work! I’m in the same boat as you - own a PS5 and XBSX and bought an OLED Switch last week. I’m really loving picking up and playing indie titles in handheld mode!
THIS DUDE GETS IT! Bro! you Absolutely NAILED IT. I am also an XSX + PS5 and NS (og, lite and OLED) owner and i couldn't agree with you more on EVERY point made in this video. INSTANT SUB. looking forward to new videos (and crawling through you back catalog) Thank you.
I finally bought a Switch 2 months ago. I've always been a big PS fan since the first one. I like nice graphics. I have an expensive LG 4K TV. Never have I thought to myself "it's too bad that the Switch isn't as powerful as my Playstation"
Great review brother, I’m in the same boat as you. I immediately wrote the switch off when it dropped in 2017, but decided to give a chance last month. Now it’s dominating my gaming time more so than my PS5, and Xbox Series X. My favorite part has been the classic console gaming apps.
I started with an xbox360, loved the controller and I really had fun with it, but I didn’t get to play it much. I still own a lot of sealed games even. For the next gen I bought a ps4, just because so many friends had the ps3 and loved it and I wanted to experience all that passion they had. I ffff hated the ps4, the thing would take ages to load up a game. Every time I wanted to play a quick game, it would just take ages updating. I live in a rural area and the internet was and still is very slow. I ended up practically not playing the thing. It’s stored as good as new. I still regret expending all that money for a thing I didn’t get to enjoy ever I think. I ended up thinking gaming wasn’t for me. When the switch was released I didn’t think anything about it, I thought it was just another gimmick. I gifted a wii u to my sister years before but she didn’t really play it so much, and his scumbag bf ended up being the one playing it, so it didn’t appeal to me to even consider a nintendo console. But that changed when I met a girl who loved the old snes donkey Kong country and I figured there was a dk game for the switch, tropical freeze, which I now know is a port from the wii u. So I bought the switch oled at launch (i didn’t even realised it was the new model), and OMG this thing is the greatest console ever made. The fact that you can take it anywhere and resume your gameplay on your tv is not a gimmick, it’s the way to go. It’s grab and play. I’m becoming a gamer because of it I think, the only problem is I still suck at games 🤣
Damn dude, I love your voice. Just listening to this open on my other window while playing the new Sunbreak expansion. You're putting me to sleep man! But in a good way lol.
Awesome review, my man, I enjoyed the content and easy listening to your narrative conclusion on the Oled switch. I also own a Oled switch and enjoy the 7" screen more then the original switch. Games like Mario Kart, Monster Hunter, Smash Brothers an so many titles to choose from my Wallet is going to explode, also from having PS5 and Series X....lol and now waiting on the Steam Deck which I'm eagerly ready for that Small PC on the Go....what a hell of a year to be a gamer 💪🏾😂🎮
Great video, like almost all the comments here the Switch definitely got me hooked. Exclusively played PS4 for awhile then got a switch during the pandemic mostly for my wife to play Smash and for me to play Metroid Dread. Needless to say, we both got so hooked on it that I had to go out and buy her a Switch Lite so we didn't have to share any more. She plays 100% portable hours a day, everyday. I play exclusively docked with a pro controller, due to being a person with big hands, I can't comfortably play on joy cons, attached buttons and analogs are too small, detached in addition to the small buttons my knuckles touch while holding it. But like you, I got it expecting only to play the exclusives and I am still in awe at just how many indie titles and non exclusives that interest me. Not to mention I'm currently coming up on 200 hours in Breath of the Wild, so I haven't even gotten to Tears of the Kingdom yet. The Switch is definitely the best console out in my opinion, and one of the best ever. Nintendo did an amazing job.
Very interesting to have the experience of the Switch from someone used to primarily play PS5 and XSX. Personally, I am now enjoying Doom Eternal on my Switch OLED handheld mode. And while of course it's best played on a PC, there's something to be said about playing this kind of game in the train when I commute or in the comfort of my bed, with a Satisfye grip and bluetooth headphones. By the way, if you want a game that is very enhanced by the OLED screen, pick up Tetris Effect Connected!
I've had my first switch since 2017, it's still used the most. Some how there is a lot of games that skip my attention on other systems, but when it appears in the eshop sales, it catches my attention and I'm like how did i miss this??
Wow… from your opinions, knowledge, and commentary to the editing, shots, and attention to detail in this video… what a complete rundown of everything I wanted to know to buy a switch! Gained a sub and likely new switch user haha
I bought an oled just this weekend, for myself and my partner (we’re 29) and my 4 year old son, I’ve definitely been the main user so far, playing breath of the wild and Mario kart has been great
Loved this video and confession. Thank you for your honesty. I was stunned and shocked by the obvious absence of breathe of the wild. Also, have you played Splatoon 2? I have been absolutely addicted and would love to know your thoughts, at this point I would almost wait till Splatoon 3 later this summer if you haven't picked up 2. I play 90% docked because I want to feel the sounds (7.0 channel surround sound) and experience the game which is partly why I haven't picked up the OLED version. Nintendo, give us 4k please. Anyways, thank you for your review (PS I have been recently spending much of my time on PS5-GT7, Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden W.....they didn't do a very good job spacing these out..... its like a need to have a play schedule to keep up...)
What an amazing video! I’m a father of 2 and I just bought the Nintendo OLED! Love it and love it even more after watching your video! Definitely handheld mode is my favorite! Thanks again!
I really enjoyed your review of switch especially with the deck coming out soon. It only get worse from here on out in terms of being able to use that gorgeous large tv. My TV(with a rule about having only tv outside of the bedroom) hasn’t seen me for decades except maybe super bowl time. For me the switch especially with the better kickstand allow me to play anywhere anytime. I can instantly put it to sleep and pick up where I left off when I have free time. Play it on the sofa, garage and in car without any worries. I too also agree it’s better than mindlessly scrolling on the phone. Will you be getting a deck too?
I subbed, hit the bell 🔔 liked, everything! This was so well written! Almost mesmerising yet easy and calming. Your passion for gaming shined through your articulation! I loved this video! I also am in the same boat with the switch oled, I bought it but haven’t used it much. To see your top recommendations was super helpful! Thank you ☺️
Great video, I agree with all you said. Just one more thing about the switch capabilities : motion controls. Swing your sword and raise your shield in Skyrim docked, turn the whole console in mariokart handheld, or play Doom handheld as if it was VR... Turn the whole console around and behind you to shoot. Switch has so many configurations!
Great video. I, personally, do not have conflict with the OLED having the same hardware specs internally. A lot of people got into the Switch, only after people got into the Switch. Developers initially said it would never be powerful enough to run a lot of the games people wanted to play. Well what do you know, up pops more talented individuals known as “port studios” and prove it was simply incompetence, or developer laziness preventing games from the Switch. In fact, the only reason we need to ever upgrade hardware “to run new games” primarily lies in a developers unwillingness to pay the resources for quality optimization. Why should they? When people convince themselves they need more Hardware and will pay hundreds, if not thousands to compensate their ignorance? Once we get to 4K @ 120Hz with the Switch, which will likely be the very next model, we have no need for more powerful hardware ever again. Beyond 4K 120Hz is more than the average human brain and eyeball can take in. This is proven by Nyquist Rate, Neurology, and ophthalmology, and sitting 8-10 feet from a 50”ish TV screen. Computer Engineers will sell you more powerful hardware all day long, so long as you never talk to your eye doctor.
@@py0rt I mean no you can’t. That’s just your machine running more smooth at that FPS. Your eyeball isnt seeing 240Hz. Can chug some more game fuel and maybe but an optometrist still gonna call you a kook ball.
absolutely loved your video!!!, am a recent oled switch owner and really happy with it, cant believe its overtaking my love for pc/ps despite its obvious shortcomings, most anticipated game for me is definitely TMNT Shredders Revenge!!!! you have to check out Fight n Rage its just a pure awesome beat em up in every way possible, plus made by just one guy its a miracle to experience, bought it on ps4 ealier and just had to get it again on switch because its how its intended to be.
Good review, though I just don't think people know what they want when they say they want 4k output. Do people know that will mean games need 4x the power? So even if a Switch 2 is 4x the power the games will look basically the same graphics but @4k. 4k is just a luxury upgrade - it's something you add to games if you have a lot of spare "overhead" power (which is the case with these new home consoles - slightly better looking games but 4k @ solid 60fps). It's just not worth wasting resources on 4k if that power could help boost the baseline graphics or FPS (30fps to 60fps only uses double the power but you get far more quality of life from that). Basically it's just ridiculous to ask a handheld to output 4k - There is a reason even the new Steamdeck can barely handle 1080/1440p (hooked up to a monitor). I suppose an argument could be made that 4k could be a useful OPTION for developers who stick to making relatively simple looking games on a Switch 2.
People be asking for 4k games on a switch when even the PS5 and Xbox Series X struggle lol. Set your expectations to something more realistic. The switch Is a tiny little gaming device. Don't expect 4k.
I bought a switch OLED over a year ago but only opened it yesterday. I can see why people love this console so much. I should’ve opened it much sooner because I can tell that I’m going to use it a lot.
@@MrTekSuggest I picked mine up just about a month ago, I've got it specifically for fh5 and absolutely love it. Don't even touch my Playstation anymore
Okay first of all, 10/10 most soothing voice I’ve ever heard. Secondly - your writing/narrative is so on point and easy to listen to. Also - ‘have you ever seen a sequel to a game you’ve never dabbled in?….’ About xenoblade - MY EXACT thoughts.
Bought my first switch last weekend, I have 2 boys both under the age 6 at home. So far I haven't taken the docking station out of the box and the time I get to play it's full handheld. Great video
I just did the same thing you did and bought an OLED Switch after owning a SeriesX & PS5. I went on vacation a few months ago and wanted something to travel with. I thought that it would only be something that I used on the go. I never even plan to dock it. But something unexpected happened after my girlfriend said that she wanted to play a Mario game. I got Mario 3D World and docked the Switch for the first time so that we could play cooperatively together on the big screen. We’ve been playing together on the regular ever since. We never move on to the next level until we obtain all 3 stars. We have a blast working together to unlock the different worlds and progress through the game. It shocks me to report that, as a result, I play way more in docking mode than handheld mode. And there are so many other great cooperative games on the Switch that I can already see I was sorely mistaken to think that the Switch would only serve to pass some time on an airplane every so often. It turns out that much more time will be spent playing cooperative games when the system is docked than time spent will be spent on-the-go. The total opposite of what I thought was going to be the case when I bought it. I’m quite pleasantly surprised as it gives the Switch much more value than I had anticipated. I encourage anyone who loves video games and doesn’t already have a Switch to get one. The innovation and fun factor more than make up for the lower hardware specs when compared to the SeriesX and PS5.
I love it when you dont know a youtuber and only by the voice make out the skin color.... Its a soothing bass tone you have. Its not as dry as the white deep voices. ❤
I have been deciding whether to buy one of these for a while now! I have watched a tonne of reviews and I can honestly say yours was the best one I’ve watched. Your narration and editing skills are so clean! And the review itself was super thorough and helpful. Cheers mate!
One reason I like to go digital for switch games over physical is because with their gold points you basically get 5% back on purchases if not more sometimes. I find myself with $10 credit pretty frequently just from accumulated points (as well as games already going on sale pretty frequently)
Im an 80s baby....just purchased one for a road trip. Red dead and ZELDA BOTW...man its dope...i only regret not getting the white one....might swap it out for white within this return window. The system is awesome. Great video man
I play about 97% handheld, 2% tabletop and only 1% docked (mainly with friends for multiplayer). I wasn’t actually overly impressed with the concept of the Switch when it first came out, as it seemed huge to me after the 3DS, which permanently resided in my handbag. The graphics also turned me off initially. I couldn’t help feeling that the Switch was trying to do everything and thus didn’t do anything well. That was until I got one given to me as a gift. It took me a while to abandon my beloved computer and give the Switch a fair go, but when I did, I was converted! Turns out what I needed wasn’t a different console, but a bigger handbag! Now I haven’t played on my computer in ages 😆
This is absolutely the best video I’ve seen! I’m old school and want to purchase Nintendo Switch OLED and really want anything that allows me to play those type games (i.e. Mario Brothers, Sonic, Pac Man and the like. Yeah, old school. Not as much into the bloody gun filled games, although on occasion I will play them as well. Love that you shared examples of each system. If you have info on which can play old school games as well as the new stuff, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and definitely subscribed to hear more of your crystal clear and detailed reviews!!👍🏽
I'm so glad I found your channel. It's like your meant for this, nice narrative and reviews clear tone of voice. Not overly shouting like others. You got yourself a new subscriber. Video has great info. I also do agree on mario kart 9. Should be release with the switch 2 all together with 1080p. Also you got me thinking of getting Xenoblade Chronicle 1,2,3 as well
I’ve been getting a lot of questions about the game shown at 00:24. It’s “Jet Kave Adventure.” And yes, it’s awesome.
What about the game you’re briefly playing at 8:19 and 8:42?
It's also only 1.99 currently lol
We share a the name 😎
Great review. I think Nintendo is on the right track with "hybrid" system. They definitely need to up the power resolution they are on to something. I hope they drop a switch 2 4k 120 at least in dock mode. I think this is best alternative for future consoles. I love my switch.
what's the game at 3:38?
This past Christmas I gifted my son a Nintendo Switch Oled & I found that in the little time I've played it, that it far exceeded my expectations of what it would actually be and do. I thought it was just going to be kind of gimmicky and mainly for someone my son's age, but I was impressed by the Oled panel, and the way games looked and played in handheld. It made me wish I was a kid who got it for Christmas 😅.
Ha! Great share
@Boga Destroyer why? The switch they have is competing just fine. Outcompeting actually.
Since you don’t play ur ps5 , u tryna sell it to me 👀
U sound like me I’ve had a switch since it came out and upgraded to oled when it released and got ps5 when it came out I still play my switch more
Me too. Switch gets all the time, even on my LG OLED. I prefer it to the PS5. My son says otherwise.
Steamdeck would blow your mind
I'm an older gamer and have all 3 consoles and usually buy all the newest games but for some reason, the Switch is what ends up taking up most of my time. I think it's the simplicity of it and being able to go back into a game whenever I want, without having to remember what each of the 8 buttons on the controller did when I played the PS5 or Xbox game, 3 or 4 months ago. I don't have the time to play games every day or even every weekend but I do enjoy it when I can and it makes me feel like a kid again. Great video, you definitely have a great voice for making videos, so best of luck with your channel..
It's takes up most of my time because I take it everywhere go .
you buy all 3 consoles yet don't even get time to game. ok lol.

You just like his setups.
Here I was about to spend 2k on a gaming pc. Ended getting a switch OLED.

@@GoTEnjoyerMatt sure software. What about hardware. It’s bulky. Regardless. I love my switch. To each their own
@@GoTEnjoyerMatt At least Nintendo doesn't abandon their products after a couple of months.. unlike Valve.
Seriously. The Switch is how I experienced LA Noire. That’s about as far from a kiddie console game as they get.
The Witcher and BOTW on the go is 👌🏻 too
It's due to the 1st party games that make it seem that way. I do love my switch over my ps4. But Mario, Pokemon, Kirby are more kid friendly but it's definitely made for all audiences.
These conversions are barely playable in portable mode and very ugly while docked on a big screen. The Switch is obsolete even as a tablet.
i consider it a great portable vs a console. i rarely dock it.
I look forward to your future videos, liked and subscribed. great job!
Right that's what I said
Appreciate you stopping by and sharing your experience. Glad you enjoyed!
As someone whos owned a switch since damn near launch, it’s crazy seeing a video from a tech expert rather than a Nintendo fan
As someone with kids, when I have time for gaming it’s only for around 20 minutes. So I’ve been considering the switch.
this video is really how I feel about having a nintendo switch OLED as a pc gamer and ps3 owner. 100% accurate
I feel like thats the best to have, gaming pc + switch
Well done. As a father of two, and a gamer, I've recently been enjoying more remote play. Now as a new switch lite owner, I look forward to a new frontier of games and also some others I would love to have as a handheld. It definitely helps to keep gaming accessible when your time is limited and life changes around you.💪👍
How do yall manage to play at any capacity with toddlers around??
@TL Wake up early, naptime and after their bedtime if I got the energy. Remote gaming is good if you have the ability at work on break also. 💪🙂👍
@@BabyBane1231 I’m looking into getting myself a preowned lite for that exact reason. Thanks for the tip fellow dad
@@Ash-bl7vm crazy how the OLED has only been out only 5 months
Same here bro i got a gaming pc and ps4 yet i still find myself only playing my switch oled
@@JJnirvanafan 5 and a half months… that’s why I said “about”
The main console will always be whatever you’re drawn to playing the most.
Encanto+kids = 40 minutes of Zelda 👌🙌😂
I hope you don't get JoyCon Drift with that Switch Lite.
Is that AC assassin's creed or animal crossing?
I agree and also want to add that we dont know how exactly they are gonna tie together in XC3 quite yet
Yo I felt Xenoblade 2 was battle wise boring as hell.
Appreciate it!
From one dad to another, thank you. This is somehow a video I just needed today!
The gameplay is pretty clunky in 2 as well tbh
Though
It’s a pity that 2 gets the most hate & spoiled for newcomers online for sure because of these idiotic of hot takes.
The way you describe gaming as a dad was spot on and almost exactly how I play the switch great review and points made.
Nice breakdown.
I probably played around 120 of my 200+ hours with BOTW in handheld or tabletop mode. It truly was a game-changer for me.
Cons are:
- it's thin and a grip is necessary for comfort
- 720/1080 is not the best but who cares its very clear to my eyes especially with Oled screen
- Green tint issue is very annoying in Dark scenes and color shift is bad at certain brightness
- Games are kinda expensive (I'm all digital) but I never buy full price only discounted but some major titles never get discount and honestly it can be justifiable
- Slight wiggle joycon
- You will need alot of accessories and probably a 2nd dock/charging station with cable input from the side
- No Blue Light Filter
- Dark theme don't apply to eshop, News, and Online page which is stupid and blinding at night
None of these cons will stop me from playing and I can live with them.
I try to buy Nintendo exclusives only because I can play all the other games on my PC, Xbox, PS4. Not to mention emulators, but man I want all the games on the switch because of how good the experience is. I'm glad I bought it and enjoy yours as well.. 👍
Bro is that pc just used for gaming? What specs?
Lol by the time a later steam deck releases, your “pinacle performance” will have reached new heights and your future steam deck wont meet them.
I’m bless to have all 3 consoles and paid all for retail and not resale and I’m loving all 3 🙌🏼
A very good review, from the perspective of a 'serious' gamer.
Thanks for stopping by and for the detailed share!

With covid and wars i think youre right but i think it should be 4k oled in handheld as well
You’re probably bang on, and we’ll see Wii U and Switch type of simultaneous release for Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 on Switch and Switch 2
Id actually be over the moon if Sony released a hybrid too, especially now with their new subscription service with access to older games.
hello is it still good like the battery because I just want to lay on my bed play zelda in handheld mode
@@something2941battery is amazing yeah
Zelda, splatoon, Mario kart, smash bros freaking Xenoblade AND MORE??
How are you not a Nintendo fan?
@@vdoza33 I don't really buy consoles for those games. And a lot of those, I only really enjoyed for the first time on the Switch. Played Mario Kart and Smash on the 3DS VERY briefly. I think the only series I actually "dived" into before was Zelda. And that was just Link Between Worlds (actually finished it).

Oh yeah... I forgot, I actually spent a couple hundred of hours on Pokemon X and Animal Crossing on the 3DS too. But only because of FOMO, since everybody I know who has a 3DS were playing those. Okay, maybe that's a bit much.
1) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
2) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild
3) Super Smash Bros Ultimate
4) Kirby and The Forgotten Land
5) Luigi's Mansion 3
6) Super Mario Odyssey
7) Overcooked 2
8) Metroid Dread
9) Rayman Legends
10) Hollow Knights
11) Zelda: Link's Awakening
12) Animal Crossing
13) Super Mario 3D All Stars
absolutely top tier review. i’ve been considering buying a switch oled but have been sceptical about whether it’s worth buying it so late into this gens lifetime. after watching this, i’m definitely going to be buying the switch oled. i’ll also be subscribing :)
It’s amazing bro, I own every system and it’s the best. I only play it handheld too
Love your content. Most of your use is the exact same things i do. I use my switch as handheld 100% of the time. And with kids you are 100% correct
Thanks for checking it out man! Glad you enjoyed!
Your videos are awesome dude, keep up the good work! I’m in the same boat as you - own a
PS5 and XBSX and bought an OLED Switch last week.
Fantastic review! Solidified the decision to buy it. After messing around with it, it really makes me wish the PSP would come back to life
I started with an xbox360, loved the controller and I really had fun with it, but I didn’t get to play it much.
Oooh I love metroid dread. The fuqqing panic I get when the the EMMI comes.
Glad you enjoyed. I’m adding your reco to my wishlist. Looks really cool!
I was in exactly the same situation. I bought my switch a month ago and couldn't be happier.
I bought an oled just this weekend, for myself and my partner (we’re 29) and my 4 year old son,
I’ve definitely been the main user so far, playing breath of the wild and Mario kart has been great
Thought I had accidentally started playing Shawshank Redemption for a minute
Most definitely. Glad you enjoyed!
You are better at this than most. Keep going.
Thank you ☺️
Appreciate it!
This is a very good comment! I actually touch on some of this more recently here: th-cam.com/video/z6n6HTxNqC0/w-d-xo.html
I mean I can feel the difference between 120hz and 240hz on my desktop but go off ig
@@py0rt I mean no you can’t.
That’s just your machine running more smooth at that FPS. Your eyeball isnt seeing 240Hz. Can chug some more game fuel and maybe but an optometrist still gonna call you a kook ball.
You have a beautiful voice my friend! Great video 😁
absolutely loved your video!!!, am a recent oled switch owner and really happy with it, cant believe its overtaking my love for pc/ps despite its obvious shortcomings,
most anticipated game for me is definitely TMNT Shredders Revenge!!!!
you have to check out Fight n Rage its just a pure awesome beat em up in every way possible, plus made by just one guy its a miracle to experience, bought it on ps4 ealier and just had to get it again on switch because its how its intended to be.
Thanks man and appreciate the recos!
It's the charm of underpowered system that can still do what you want it to do you know how it is full time work kids all that the switch is perfect
This man's voice has to be the best voice I have ever heard. His voice makes you want to listen for hours. This man should make audiobooks.
Omg I love your voice so much. I keep just putting this video on when I’m dinking around cause it’s just so unique and cool sounding.
It’s an AI generated voice lol
95% handheld 5% docked
Great video. What game is at 8:07? Don’t think it’s in the description.
Why does this sound like A.I.?
This video is AMAZING!! The amount of detail that you fly through is excellent. Thank you for creating this!
Do you have a series s ?
I don’t actually, went straight for the X. How about you?
@@MrTekSuggest I do actually: i love it !!
@@Jayvante When did you pick it up? What game have you enjoyed the most so far?
@@MrTekSuggest I picked mine up just about a month ago, I've got it specifically for fh5 and absolutely love it. Don't even touch my Playstation anymore
I own both X and S.... and I can say that the series S is amazing. The true winner of this generation, you will see...
You sound like Gustavo from breaking bad 😂 great video btw 👍
I'm so glad I found your channel. It's like your meant for this, nice narrative and reviews clear tone of voice. Not overly shouting like others. You got yourself a new subscriber. Video has great info. I also do agree on mario kart 9. Should be release with the switch 2 all together with 1080p. Also you got me thinking of getting Xenoblade Chronicle 1,2,3 as well
Thanks man, and welcome!
Mmm that Kickstand is exquisite! Love the screen. I absolutely adore this system.
