    I'm glad the 90s has come back too. I finally get to live my Delia's/grunge/90s sitcom character wardrobe dreams.

    Thrifting is my jam. I love all the interesting fabrics and clothes and the wool that’s dirt cheap and new. I just took up sewing a few months ago and it’s great fun. I actually found your channel when I screwed up a pair of pajama pants and was looking for help lol. I love to watch you sew. And the little hacks are perfect. You make everything seem possible. Those pants were perfect. You would never know that they were altered. Well done!

    Another fun video! So true that our coming-of-age decade makes a huge impact of our clothing love for life. I'm so glad I was a teenager in the '70s. It still gives me so much inspiration! And, btw, opening that inseam to get at the pocket placement was genius. I love how you don't shy away from taking extra steps in order to guarantee the nicest results. 🙌

      lol, not me. Was a teenager in the 80ties... and always thought that the 80ties fashion was horrible - even then! Really was very relieved then the 90ties arrived with a much more interesting and fun style :)) Great fan of cargo pants myself.

    This was so fun! I love the idea of thrifting as a low-cost time/money commitment to trying something new. Or old, haha. You’ve definitely got my creative wheels turning. I’m right there with you with the nostalgia for 90s/00s trends!

    Good Score on those Buttons!! Really, everything you bought was great!
    On a personal note: I just had a really hard laugh, I was working on a home decor project painting over an old Canvas print. I had "Fear Freeze", I decided to take a break, your other video popped up where you had "Fear Freeze" about the dress you were working on. It was great to see other people have that same experience. 🤣

    I love your style and in you really know the colors that suite you. All of your picks were cute! Something interesting is that I also loved clothing since I was a child and would beg my parents for the teen magazines etc, just to look at the clothes. I almost went to fashion school but studied accounting instead and also had that same fear that maybe I wouldn’t like it so went the safe route. I am a good accountant but at least sewing remains an outlet for that love of clothing and desire to be creative.

    • @PatternScout
      @PatternScout  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Omg...same!! Would BEG for the magazines (also was curious about the "how to flirt" advice 😅). And never owned a single thing from Delia's, but you better believe i was on the catalog mailing list!

    My friend went to fashion school so of course she became a florist 😜 and now she's a stay at home mom. I don't think she's sewn a thing since her final school fashion show projects lol. I love the clean simplicity of your cargo pants but my past self would insist on more pockets. And maybe some pockets inside other pockets. 😂

    • @PatternScout
      @PatternScout  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. This. haha when I was an architect, I met so many people who said "I always wanted to be an architect!", so I have a feeling if I had gone to fashion school, I would have thought I should be something else (like maybe an architect lol). And I think more pockets would be even cooler! I also thought adding patch pockets to the front and maybe even one of those hammer loops on the leg would be fun.

    Hi, when it comes to the frills on your sweater vest, if you use it with a long sleeve either sweater or TShirt, then, the frill won't bother you because your sleeves will camouflage them. However, if they still bother you, you can weight down by adding something on the heavy side at the edge. I don't suggest to get rid of one of the frills, you won't be happy with it. Once you take it out, there might not be a turning back.

    So much fun! I love how your cargo pants turned out. Sometimes altering pants, with all the belt loops and topstitches to work around makes me sorry I ever started....but you barreled through and did a fantastic job.
    Everything you modeled looks promising for your wardrobe. To me the wild card is that knit tank top with the shoulder ruffles, but it could actually be a stealth winner - the unexpected contrast piece. Before removing any ruffles, how about steaming them to see if that would tame some of the volume? Would the top look good back-to-front? I'm a big fan of giving a romantic piece more edge by wearing it with something tough. Like cargo pants, lugsole boots or tevas (heh.) Khaki menswear pants, black faux leather. Editorial eyeliner, black accessories, anything that's ultra modern and a bit dangerous looking. Thanks for letting us play in your closet.

    Very fun video! I love having a tutorial on altering the waist and hips of pants. I've always just made darts between the center back and surrounding belt loops, but this is infinitely better. At first I was thinking that you should have started with the other pants because the rise was so much better on you, but you proved me wrong. :) I think they would would also look great with those white sneakers on your rail! I'd love a pair of emerald cargoes or carpenter pants. I wonder if that stone color would dye to emerald. Does anyone have experience with dyeing thrift finds?

    • @PatternScout
      @PatternScout  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Yes, that method is my go-to because it is more comfy (I've done the dart method before and can get a little bulky)! I kinda want to get some "chunkier" sneakers to try with the cargos! And you could use rit dye for to dye the pants for sure (I'd recommend getting a pair that are a natural fiber content, like cotton or linen for best results).

    • @jacquelinea8224
      @jacquelinea8224 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PatternScout you could roll up the pant legs a little until you get chunkier sneakers. But I hear you there. I have a pair of Cheery Rocket Dogs with a little platform that helps give the sneaker some weight. I like that they look a little feminine.

    • @daxxydog5777
      @daxxydog5777 ปีที่แล้ว

      A size 16 or 18 would work, or they sell a “jeans” needle specifically. For thread, I would use matching thread for the construction, and (again) “jeans” topstitching thread. You can usually buy it at the fabric store or Amazon. You may need to play with your tension though since it’s so thick.
