    Hi Casey both tops are a raging success. I love the neck shape and lettuce edges of first, and the button area slash and spread on second. I love these videos, this is what I aspire to. Sewing can be ridiculously expensive but you encourage creativity and learning the techniques to have a go yourself. I'm still at the stage of finding good fit items to use as blocks but I definitely know where I'm going with my hobby thanks to you. Your head deserves to be bigger with these fantastic videos 😉. Enjoy your tops and your dinner out 🙂

    I love these tops on you!!! I was secondhand nervous for you about the fabric being difficult for shirtmaking, but they turned out amazing!! It’s giving me all kinds of inspo to rethink what I can do with knits for winter. I gravitate toward them almost exclusively for that warm hand feel in winter but I keep making basic Nikko tops - love the idea of using Comfi + Cozi together for a knit button-up!

    • @PatternScout
      @PatternScout  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha thank you!! I agree, the button-up in a knit is a nice shake up for the knit tee category. So comfy but a little more jazzed up! It would work really well for jersey knits, too.

I loved the way you styled both pieces. I am actually thinking about making the Adrienne blouse by Friday patterns and had in mind a fabric with flowers and black background to wear with straight cropped jeans and boots. I will have to check out the fabric store you purchased the mesh fabric from. Looking forward to the rest of your fall wardrobe.

    You are so talented. Beautiful work. I’m not a see through kinda girl but on you it’s stunning. I especially love the look with the skirt and jacket. Very nice

      Thank you, Debbie! I was a little worried before it all came together that it might be too sheer...but it's not too bad! Both of these tops would also work beautifully with other (non-sheer) knits. I might have to try it in other fabrics :)

    Love the tops, Casey! I have both your top patterns mentioned and the mods you made seem very doable. Appreciate you enabling us to get even more value from your existing patterns. And I’ll just add, being 45, I can honestly say that so far this has been the best decade of my life. I agree, aging is a gift and I think truly beautiful and worth embracing in order to make the most of it. Definitely some meh stuff, but what decade doesn’t have some type of crap to walk through? At least the older we get, the greater our maturity and resilience…hopefully 😂 Welcome to the season of self acceptance and resting in the awesomeness God designed you with! ❤

      Thank you, Faith! I am ALL about stretching a pattern haha. Your description of and appreciation for aging is beautiful and very inspiring! I always joke with my husband that I'm shooting for 120, so I hope to have many decades of growth and discovery :) and creativity!!

    These aren't my personal style but I can see how happy they make you and that's wonderful! I liked seeing your decision-making process for the different types of stabilizers and seam edges you used. It'd be dope to see this type of collared mesh shirt with blousy sleeves and a traditional cuff as well.

    • @PatternScout
      @PatternScout  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh that would be really cool! The fabric is so soft and slinky, I think it would be really fun for something blousy or something with lots of gathers.

    Casey, (I hope I spelled your name correctly!) I wanted to tell you thank you for sharing videos that spark my mind. I am by no means an expert seamstress even though I have sewed off and on for years. However, your videos make me THINK!!! I appreciate the way it helps me think about how things are put together And the Possibilities!!!! Oh yeah!!!!

    LOL. I feel like I'm looking at the brunette version of me. Your style caught my eye and I was hooked when you said you're tall, as well as slim, too (tall girls have special fitting issues like anyone else.) But I'm ahead of you on the Invisalines (and I wore my retainers!). Four years later I still need to wear them at night.
    I've been sewing for many years and know how to do many of these things already but it's so reassuring to see you sew the things I've been kinda shying away from lately. These days I'm needing more of a sure thing. It's nice to hear your thoughts as you adjust things and it reminds me that when things don't turn out EXACTLY as I first envisioned it's still really great. I also LOVE D.P.C.'s book - game changer! Thanks for giving me back my Sew-jo.

    You look stunning in both tops, Casey 🤩🤩🤩 It's lovely to see how happy you are after creating them, and I particularly loved them paired with the skirt 👍
    It's so inspiring to watch you draft your ideal garments, I am learning so much from your videos!
    I'd love to make the turtleneck one in a pastel floral mesh for spring! I'm going to do some googling, but can you only achieve the lettuce hem with a serger?
    And thanks for talking about taking sewing breaks... Once I start I become really obsessed with finishing the garment and I find it very hard to even consider taking a break or leaving it until the next weekend... Something to work on 😉

    • @PatternScout
      @PatternScout  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much! I think you can do the lettuce edge on a regular sewing machine (there are videos here on youtube, I searched lettuce edge hem and found one at the top of the search results showing it both ways). And i totally get tunnel vision when sewing too! Sometimes it is hard to stop, something I am also working on :)
