    This little freaky and implausible move has given me a feeling of using the ground I never believed possible. As with most things related to golf, everything ends up feeling the opposite of what it appears to be. Keep it up, Danny. You are my number one TH-camr for golf-related content.

    Danny I went to the driving range today and worked on tempo moving my feet , rocking myself and hitting easy shots. The ball rocketed off all my clubs straight as an arrow.
    It was the best practice I ever had using all the irons and my hybrid.
    I was taking such an easy swing and relaxing drills before the shot.
    Your relax routine really works Danny and hitting easy shots
    Feeling good where I am heading

    This is a great drill that I’ve been employing for a couple of months with very good results. My ball-striking has improved and my standard flight is now a nice draw. The other advantage is that thinking only about the movement of my heels is a great, simple swing thought. Thanks Danny you’re a terrific teacher.

  • @BillyDee159

    I’ve been playing for 70 years at a fairly high level and consider myself a student of the game. I never heard of this little move/feel. I took it to the range yesterday, and literally started hitting my pitching wedge 15 yards further with a much better strike, not sure I can even explain it to my golfing buddies - - or if I should! Thank you Danny, your lessons have been really interesting and entertaining. You have a very nice way and style about you. I love your video’s. Again, Thank you very much.

    If they only knew how many well known top 100 instructors I've seen and money spent. Started watching Dan the man and found out that the joke was on me. You would think one instructor would tell me I was swaying off the ball. One! The light bulb started to go off with your video of an effortless swing, the one where you met up with your dad and saw him hitting the best that he has at an older age. The tip on rocking the heels front and back was genius. I was always chasing the swing when I was always sound except for that sway. My golf game has improved in every area and continues to improve with every video that I watch of yours. The putting videos are also golden. Thanks for all you do Danny! Keep up the great work, your teachings really had an impact on my golf game and enjoyment of this great game that I love so much!

      Had a similar experience when he described the hip motion not as a turn but a straight motion. Now instead of a sway as my trail leg straightens the weight moves onto my lead leg at the transition. Rory is obviously moving his weight to his front foot while his heel is still slightly off the ground and his heel moves forward

    • @bobwayne5965
      @bobwayne5965 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@georgedelaney7085 Agree with that too George. That straight motion is indeed what was missing. Take care.

    Although it is early days, this drill has given me hope after years of golfing disasters. I have been pushing instead of pulling! I used to have a good long game but abismal short game, and trying to develop my short game, reduced my long game to being abismal as I grew older (75) and less agile. Just going through this drill has made everything much more effortless, even the short game, and I hope I can get back to enjoying playing. I don't need to be good, I just want to stop embarrasing mysellf. Thanks.

That video worked miracles but i was still not consistent. Than I watched this video and the light came on. At first I could not feel what you where trying to describe. But I finally figured it out. • @wordclouds2906
    @wordclouds2906 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One of the best videos all together.
    Danny explains it with focus on the heels; if you want to look at it with focus on the forefoot (contact point with the ground) it would be something like this:
    When the bones of the left big toe push COUNTERCLOCKWISE, the pelvis turns CLOCKWISE. When the bones of the right big toe push CLOCKWISE, the pelvis turns COUNTERCLOCKWISE. (Proof: standing on ice, the feet would slip in the direction of the push and the pelvis would stay square).
    The pressure feeling on the bones of the big toe resembles the quarter turn to the right(left toe push)/left(right toe push) when starting to walk in that direction(right/left).
    When the pelvis reaches its max rotation of the backswing, inertia of mass causes the upper body/ club head to continue on its path to the complete reverse at the top.
    At that time you start pushing your right foot (pressure on the inside of the bones of right big toe) CLOCKWISE, bringing the pelvis counterclockwise back to the target line. That move does 'not wait for the club head', let it finish its travel (waist must be kept flexible). This creates the separation between pelvis position and club head.
    At this point the CLOCKWISE push has brought your pelvis COUNTERCLOCKWISE back in line with the target. You squat and push the the right foot-bones-big-toe explosively CLOCKWISE. This whips your pelvis around to face the target.
    This motion of the feet is joined by the upwards jump: at that point the bones of the right toe push initially CLOCKWISE, the bones or left toe COUNTERCLOCKWISE; this snaps both femurs into endorotation when the weight comes off the feet (supporting the jump) and the knees snap together.
    Conclusion: control of the swing with the bones of your big toes causes the swing to be in proper sequence. With a passive upper body, this will create the proper separation and the path will consequently be in-to-out.

    Excellence is par fo your instructing Danny,I have only been playing a couple of years and during my first summer was able to strike my irons very well for a beginner but that changed when playing partners kept telling me I had too much weight on my front foot at the top of my swing causing my front knee to go forward as the club reached the top. I listened,and changed to how they felt my weight should be moving and proceeded to play terrible golf for months.something clicked after one of your lessons a couple of weeks ago,and thankfully I returned to my old ways .
    Now hitting irons sweetly again.thanks so much Danny.

    This makes so much sense for me. Years ago I was told to "fire your hips". But that results exactly in the "weak position" you describe. Fire the right hip (righthand player) forward and your heals turn backward in response. But if you move your hips just a bit sideways towards the target just before/during the downswing, your heals feel like they are towards the target. Keep on posting like that, this helps so much...

    Been practicing using the Down Under Board, as my footwork was sloppy. That gave me ten yards on my irons as I stayed centered and did not sway off the ball. It also helped with early extension. The instructional video with the board really didn't explain the why's of how it works very well. So I hit the net on your early extension videos, which helped me understand the footwork aspect much better. Then I came across this puppy. This may add up to another ten yards. 8 iron carry for me has gone up from 140 to close to 150 with the board. I have a tendency for a pull as my miss large due to a lack of rotation. Using these two things, my rotation is so much more effective in translating into better contact and smash factor. Just hit a few balls on SkyTrak and this is sick awesome ! Ball is starting to the right of the target line with a draw. Carry is approaching 160. P.S. Shiels is good, but you are a little better. :-O

    OMG! This just crystallized for me, "use the ground"!! Girlfriend got me a Down Under Board for Xmas, but this "feel" is even better !!(sorry, honey). I think doing this barefoot will really help groove the move and feel. I think this is a great "first move" to start my downswing (if you agree) I'll be working on this for the next few days while I'm snowed in...

    Wow! This is exactly what I needed to see and hear in my golf practice! I got one of those “Accustriike” practice mats. The one that shows where and how you are striking the ball. Well, I discovered that time after time I am striking well behind the ball and coming across the ball . Which really explains my lack of power and control. I’m all over this new swing drill. I’ll bet I will be shaving a few more strokes off my score. Definitely will be having much more fun! Thanks Danny! You’re enthusiasm and knowledge is priceless!

    Hi danny i took this tip on the driver swing last weekend, to my local club to see if it could improve my swing, well i do see an improvement, im not pushing it to the left as much. I spent 3 days last week working on this, and i find ithas helped me alot, an easy drill to remember which i will be putting a lot of time on this swing tip, also i would like to thank you for showing this easy tip.

    Hi Danny. I bought a couple of cheap waist twist boards which really got me used to the feel. Your drill really reinforces the feel which I can more readily take to the course. Just hit a few balls into the net and whow. This is the year I am not going to be hitting the ball with my weight in my trail leg !!! Thanks and as ever stay safe
