Danny, in all the years I have taken golf lessons, no one has ever explained to me, as clearly as in your videos, the importance of weight changes and rhythm on all golf clubs. Thank you very much for your effort and clarity. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Hi Danny, after watching your video this morning I went out and posted a 77, my best score ever. It included a bogey on each of the last three holes because I started to get nervous when I realized how well I was playing. I really appreciate your coaching from all the way on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. I turned 70 three weeks ago so now shooting my age is in play, thanks to you.
Danny! Man. I’m just here to say thanks. I saw the skepticism in the comment section and may still respond to that, but first. Thank you so much. I’m I am a big strong guy who can crush the ball. Off the tee, until about a week ago, slice city. I would abbreviate my swing to try to create control and sometimes it worked. Generally not, and always unreliable. I watched this video after hunting for help for hours. I simply took the info to the range and took a few loosely goosey swings with no power. Stepped up and hit a bomb down the center. Effortless. As soon as I figured out ball placement in my stance, it clicked. I haven’t hit an errant drive in two rounds. Simply incredible. Thanks a million.
@@DanielMaudehey Danny! Just wanted to check in and ask a question if you had a minute. I’m still perfectly happy with my driver and was 75% FIR on the last round. A first! Good topic as it is such a common question from students. Each and every shot on the course needs intentions. What club and where do you want to hit it and not how to make it go there. Train on the practice tee...play on the course.
After watching your videos over the last six months, I have finally been able to do this. I was a position person and still do check on video every now and then as I tend to over rotate the forearms and whip the club inside. The heavy towel drill has been excellent at helping me with tempo, rhythm, weight transfer, and speed. Thanks Danny!
Hey Danny just wanted to express my deep gratitude for your wealth of knowledge, articulate way of explaining everything and overall demeanour. I’ve gotten the golf bug very recently with my soon to be father in law and play your videos on a loop the few times I’ve gotten practice on my own!
Staying relaxed is an absolute must. Started out the year swinging free, was smashing it every time off the tee. At some point I lost my swing? Took round after round trying to figure it out. Watched an earlier video you had put out about staying relaxed, bingo I was finally able to free up my swing. Stay relaxed and stay quiet 🏌️

@@DanielMaude Hit a few balls on the range yesterday. Started of straight away with the driver, instead of a smaller club initially, as I wanted to simulate the game conditions where we go straight to the course and the first club is the driver. The shots were dead straight initially when I was just swinging without using any power and ball was going about 190-200 yards carry. When I tried to hit it further, I started slicing again. I think the weight shift got messed up when I tried to swing harder. But, generally it was a very satisfying experience and I hope to build on it. Thanks.
You have helped me so much, thanks Danny! Today on the sim i will do exactly this with the driver☺ Havent been able to try driver yet, but all the other clubs feels Great! With the down and around, right arm just goes up and down "chopping wood", and left arm just straight pushing to the side..the ark is the same every time, and the lowpoint is consistent. Hi Danny, I've tried this drill during warm up. It feels and looks good. When it's my turn to tee off I somehow forget and fall into old habits. That’s really kind Matt, thanks so much for your support and taking the time to feedback this year. Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy Christmas and new year
Spot on Danny. I've started to transfer weight slightly before the top of my back swing. Automatically adds that essential rhythm. Straighter, further for less effort!
Danny, I like the way you teach. Best guy on the internet in my opinion. Thanks so much. I’m 59 with orthopedic injuries and hit the ball inconsistently from 220 on average to one over 270 - this explains why that happens. I couldn’t figure it out until you explained this.
Sounds so simple. I have several swing changes that I plan on implementing in spring to maximize my power. But last season I consistently hit my driver in the fairway but only 250 yards or so. I believe I can do better but I love the simplicity that Danny shows us. Thanks Danny.
Hey Danny. I couldn't wait to get home to write you about how well I did, in the rain, today on the course! I've been struggling with finding MY swing for years. But this weekend, I watched THIS video all weekend long, repeatedly. It finally sunk into my thick head that the momentum thing is what was missing from my swing. Your explanation of swinging in rhythm and rotating did the trick! Even though I shot an 85 today, most my drives, as well as several of my fairway shots, were dead straight! The "One and Two" swing timing thing did the trick! I can't wait to get out this Wednesday to try it again. THANK YOU for making the golf swing, particularly the driver, simple, easy and EFFORTLESS! Keep up the great work!!

Great lesson Danny. Coincidentally, I've introduced 3 non-stop effortless, relaxed swings as my pre-shot routine. It's been very helpful in 'letting go', particularly driving.

In the past when i first started watching your videos, I found that in the trying to copy your swing i would end up going too much inside with the backswing, but now lve learnt overtime how to set the backswing properly so ive fixed that issue with my wrists. I wish knew about this when i first started watching your videos. Ive learnt a lot of useful tips otherwise about how to swing the golf club properly and better 😊
using the shopping bag trick is very helpful. so much easier to get the club going on the intended line. just have to trust the body to find the easiest path. thank you Danny.
We are now on the winter Tees and this has the effect of shorten the course an will allow me (an old duffer with a dodgy back) more freedom to get back to this flowing swing
After watching this lesson.Im 62 years old and i can honestly say that i have never hit the ball so much further!Hitting drives over 275 That was amazing fun day driving down the middle,And used the same ball the whole round..Cheers Danny
Newbies like me told to never move the left foot, elbows locked to your sides, left arm straight. But that means nothing flows naturally. Seeing how effortlessly you swing the club, and not afraid to let both heels come off the ground, as the body does naturally, the whole process just seems so simple, more effective and enjoyable. And the same principle applies to all clubs, not just driver. Another great video from the master.
Wonderful and as always a very friendly way to explain things. Especially the words about "accepting" one´s personal limitations. I - with 63 years of age, battle with that stiffness! When teeing up at hole one I will always imagine your swing as an exaple of effortless and yet dynamic power. A pity that my brazilian wife has problems understanding you speaking quite rapidly, she is so talented but not much into learning via videos like me. I have to translate the basic informations into portuguese all the time but the images are already helpful. Thank you very much!
@ thank you Danny, what does perturb me though is that you hit your duff shots further than my decent drives but I am more your fathers age, I guess I need to work more on my timing, I looked back on my gps watch stats and saw I hit a drive 262yds, must have been downhill with a following wind haha. Have a great Christmas
Great content and informative coaching Danny I’ve been working on relaxing the tension in the forearms to be more relaxed the difference in shots is so much better,to have a firm grip sometimes puts tension in your arms so for me it’s getting the balance, also working on relaxing the shoulders before taking the shot.Still work to do on the transfer to the lead side as I’ve got a problem with the trail knee I find it interesting your action through the feet to transfer to the lead side great coaching Danny beers up mister 🍻🍻
Another great video, Danny! You always demonstrate what you're talking about to a tee. But you do one other thing that I don't think you've done a video on yet and that is the move you make at the top where you suddenly lag the club and more or less drop into the slot. I think this move is created by the lower body motion you talk about in this video, but I'd love to see a video on that move and how to do the right things for it to happen. Thanks!
Thank you Mike, yes the lag is naturally created by the forward motion of the lower body which’s causes the upper to lag behind. Will create a video on how I naturally create this
Excellent video, just noticed that you started your practice swing always with a swing forward - also found in other you tube videos; think this also helps those losen up the swing and helps to be in the right plane- see your drill with the bag where you also start opposite direction…
Not sure how you do it but you make so much sense in so little time and so easily. Clearly you are a great golfer but you are an even better golf instructor.
UPDATE COMMENT: I took this to the course today … I’m not a big hitter and have a tendency to slice. But today I finally got a chance to take this lesson to the course today. Not only did I strike everything (including my fairway strikes, using the same techniques described here) cleanly I also added 30 yards to my drives … my other half said I was playing like a different bloke 😂😂 Thanks Danny 😊⛳️
Thanks Danny. Brilliant as ever. Hand injury at the moment so laying off the golf.....but this will be the starting point for my getting back into it over the next few weeks when I'm fit again.
I finally got back to the simulator to try this out. First day, I'm no better or worse in terms of distance or consistency, but the amount of fatigue and pain I (no longer) feel after a session is night and day. Definitely worth traveling down this path to an effortless swing! Something I noticed is that my natural swing is kind of like a tennis swing. While I'm finally not over-the-top with it, I really don't get my trail shoulder down enough and I want to fix that. Please give some more tips on how to really get the weight transfer happening through the ball instead of just over it. 🙏
Excellent job Danny in explaining that a driver swing can be effortless if we just "let go!" Remove the tension from the arms and shoulders and let gravity and the club do the work! Well Done Danny!
Danny, thanks a lot for this video. This has helped me with my driver, even though I’ve still got a horrible slice, I’m managing to hit the ball in the air now where I was topping it before. Have a blessed new year from New Zealand 💪🏽🇳🇿
Beautiful.... sometimes I will test myself and try 50% power vs 75% power. I do better at lower power vs high power shots. Lesser and smoother swings are definitely the way to go
Yes, everyone knows the weight transfer to the lead side needs to happen before the top of the backswing and we all try to achieve this but I’ve NEVER heard anyone explain the simple reason for doing this i.e. if we don’t do this, we’d lose balance (or even fall over in an extreme situation). It’s simple physics really, like as kids we’d stand in the middle of a see-saw and try not to let the ends bang in the ground (does that make sense ? 😀) Brilliant Vid !
Cheers Danny, I must give this a try. I’m so constricted trying to control the swing my drives are down to 170 yards. Trouble is the more bad swings you hit, the more constricted you become.
Badminton players may have difficulty with this, but could also have an advantage in putting this relaxed swing idea. Tennis players will have most difficulties with this because of the idea of keeping the tennis wrist solid. Squash players should feel this as a natural part of their strike pattern and thus adapt easily to this golf idea. I gave up playing, then coaching badminton and squash, to play golf - it was an age and mobility decision. So why is it that in my later years, particularly in the last three months, this easy relaxed swing idea has disappeared from my game? I am now convinced that the reason for these degradation in golf results is because I'm putting more effort, determination and aggression in to replace the gradual loss in flexibility. So thank you for this heads up reminder that really stressed muscles move more slowly, especially when control ideas have crept into the swing. I'm going back to old man relaxed swing, instead of once younger man looking for previous results.
Very timely Danny, I've been hugely struggling with exactly this problem the last few weeks. Even if you can relax on the range or in the simulator, it's a whole different story out on the golf course. Can't wait for it to stop raining so I can go try it out!
Danny, in your practice swings in trying to make a nice, loose turn, you start by bumping the club head forward first, which allows you immediately release the tension created by the simple act of starting the swing,. Where I get in trouble is in that slight creation of tension coming from starting the backswing from a stationary position, and trying to keep the hands and body in sync. How about a drill to combat that?
Just took this to the range this evening. Wow. Completely broke me out of the rut I’ve been going through with my driver. Left the range with a smile on my face for the first time in weeks 😂. Thank you Danny!
Perfectly timed vid Danny. - Naturalism, that’s the direction I’ve been trying to evolve my swing into- so much advice / technique out there, overwhelms the mind- strip it back to a natural rhythm and allow the bodies momentum to impart the head speed. Easier on the body and mind. I just needs to see it done,
So amazing how you effortlessly get over 300 yards. Tense shoulders are my worst enemy. Will try shaking them up like you showed us. Thx and roll on 1.5 m subscribers!
Am 77 and trying ever so hard to get down near the low 90's or even more. Only then will I get a new set of clubs.... hahahaha. I have reasonable mobility. Have been watching how you are improving your dad's game. Thanks for your advice on getting better.
Hi Danny, I have been following your advice re relaxing, right hip and lift left heel for my driver and it has worked a treat. I have been trying the same with my irons but keep pushing way right, not a slice but push right. Should I be using same method for my iron shots?
Fantastic video tried it on course today, just relaxed and let it go wow what transformation hit some of my best ever drives a couple of wild ones aswell but will keep working on it.thanks and merry Christmas to you and your family
Brilliant, all so true. I play well when i get weight through, i tend to stay bank trail side to protect my knee, and then the strike is crap. Great stuff
Danny, excellent tuition and some super thoughts in here to move ones golf onto the next level. Could you consider doing a piece on the psychology of the golf swing. By this I mean taking the course characteristics out of play and just swinging freely. I always play a new course better!! With no existing scar tissue 😢 Im currently trying to just swing naturally and ignore what's in front of me. Im assuming the ball doesn't know where the hazards are, however I do and that impacts the result 😂 Anyway just a thought for your thoughts. Ray. Perth WA

@larryeggleston9032 thank you so much. Enjoy practicing. Let me know how you get on 👍🏻
Can't wait to try this! Thank you so much, Danny!!!
You're so welcome!
As ever Danny your teaching is effortless. Great communication- and having watched your video I'm off to the range with a bag of shopping!
😂 thank you!
Excellent video, just noticed that you started your practice swing always with a swing forward - also found in other you tube videos; think this also helps those losen up the swing and helps to be in the right plane- see your drill with the bag where you also start opposite direction…
It really does, it helps with momentum
Simply brilliant danny I'm too tense and this is simple and makes common sense relaxed and just swing with momentum 👍
Thanks Iain 😊
Great golf lesson thank you
Not sure how you do it but you make so much sense in so little time and so easily. Clearly you are a great golfer but you are an even better golf instructor.
That’s really kind of you, happy to help
Excellent Danny, as ever you keep it simple and relatable.
I appreciate that!
Great video. I have found that swinging a rope helps with tempo and weight shift. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
And you Jim, all the very bath
UPDATE COMMENT: I took this to the course today … I’m not a big hitter and have a tendency to slice. But today I finally got a chance to take this lesson to the course today. Not only did I strike everything (including my fairway strikes, using the same techniques described here) cleanly I also added 30 yards to my drives … my other half said I was playing like a different bloke 😂😂 Thanks Danny 😊⛳️
Amazing Robin, well done. Thanks so much for taking the time to feedback
Thanks Danny. Brilliant as ever. Hand injury at the moment so laying off the golf.....but this will be the starting point for my getting back into it over the next few weeks when I'm fit again.
Wishing you a speedy recovery Brian 👍
I finally got back to the simulator to try this out. First day, I'm no better or worse in terms of distance or consistency, but the amount of fatigue and pain I (no longer) feel after a session is night and day. Definitely worth traveling down this path to an effortless swing!
Something I noticed is that my natural swing is kind of like a tennis swing. While I'm finally not over-the-top with it, I really don't get my trail shoulder down enough and I want to fix that. Please give some more tips on how to really get the weight transfer happening through the ball instead of just over it. 🙏
I certainly will
Excellent job Danny in explaining that a driver swing can be effortless if we just "let go!" Remove the tension from the arms and shoulders and let gravity and the club do the work! Well Done Danny!
Thank you John!
Danny, thanks a lot for this video. This has helped me with my driver, even though I’ve still got a horrible slice, I’m managing to hit the ball in the air now where I was topping it before. Have a blessed new year from New Zealand 💪🏽🇳🇿
@haamid_2390 you are most welcome. Thank you for your support. Happy New Year 🙏🏻
Beautiful.... sometimes I will test myself and try 50% power vs 75% power.
Brilliant Vid !
Absolutely Philip, one doesn’t need to think about transferring our weight. If you swing the club with momentum our bodies will naturally respond
Great video Danny. I use kettlebell and orange whip to help create loose feeling.
What kettle bell exercises do u do for this? Curious. I also have the orange whip and feels it helps tremendously with sewuencing
That sounds great Russ
A 10kg kettle bell works great
Yeah, I started loosening up the grip and feeling the weight of the club face this fall - it’s been a huge improvement especially for the driver.
That’s great to hear Dale
I like these driver tips and will try it but the one starting with both feet together that worked so good!!!
Great to hear!
Cheers Danny, I must give this a try. I’m so constricted trying to control the swing my drives are down to 170 yards. Trouble is the more bad swings you hit, the more constricted you become.
That can be the case Terry, the key is to learn to let go a bit every shot
Perfect visual Danny!!!!
Really happy to help Brian
You can do it Ian
Very timely Danny, I've been hugely struggling with exactly this problem the last few weeks. Even if you can relax on the range or in the simulator, it's a whole different story out on the golf course. Can't wait for it to stop raining so I can go try it out!
Thanks John!
Thanks for the lesson as always Danny
Brilliant Danny thank you as always…
You are Very welcome Ricky
This is gold. Thank you!
@@mwmurraycpa you are very welcome
Love the weighted shopping bag drill
Thank you Paul
Trail cheek to target is an innovative backswing move, Danny. And it seems to work!
That’s great to hear
As ever Danny your teaching is effortless. Great communication- and having watched your video I'm off to the range with a bag of shopping! 5:09
Just took this to the range this evening. Wow. Completely broke me out of the rut I’ve been going through with my driver. Left the range with a smile on my face for the first time in weeks 😂. Thank you Danny!
@HCvidz1 that’s great. Well done 👏
Brilliant!!!
Really kind John thank you
Perfectly timed vid Danny. - Naturalism, that’s the direction I’ve been trying to evolve my swing into- so much advice / technique out there, overwhelms the mind- strip it back to a natural rhythm and allow the bodies momentum to impart the head speed. Easier on the body and mind. I just needs to see it done,
Happy to help 😁
@ 👌
Great advice again! Thanks Danny, you are the best...
I appreciate that Peter, love to hear how you get on
So amazing how you effortlessly get over 300 yards. Tense shoulders are my worst enemy. Will try shaking them up like you showed us. Thx and roll on 1.5 m subscribers!
You can do it!
Am 77 and trying ever so hard to get down near the low 90's or even more. Only then will I get a new set of clubs.... hahahaha. I have reasonable mobility. Have been watching how you are improving your dad's game. Thanks for your advice on getting better.
Thanks. Good video, so I will let go ,don't think, feel. Merry Christmas, my friend . It was a good year learning with you. Life bless you.
Merry Christmas Oscar
Hi Danny, I have been following your advice re relaxing, right hip and lift left heel for my driver and it has worked a treat. I have been trying the same with my irons but keep pushing way right, not a slice but push right. Should I be using same method for my iron shots?
Golf poetry. Lovely ❤
Hope it helps
Fantastic video tried it on course today, just relaxed and let it go wow what transformation hit some of my best ever drives a couple of wild ones aswell but will keep working on it.thanks and merry Christmas to you and your family
@paulstone4207 that’s great. Keep practicing. Thank you for your support 👍🏻
Brilliant, all so true. I play well when i get weight through, i tend to stay bank trail side to protect my knee, and then the strike is crap. Great stuff
Thank you Lou!
Hi Danny I'm heading to the range tomorrow to put this into practice, fingers crossed 🤞
Excellent Danny!! Love this one.....
Many thanks!!
Fantastic! Incredibly inspiring as always, Danny . Thank you! 🏌️♂️
All the very best Matt
Thanks again Danny .
My pleasure! Ronald 👍
Ray. Perth WA
I think that’s a great idea
Playing in an hour - so glad I watched this.
I have just bought a Rypstick - is this a good way to achieve what is in your video?
I prefer a heavy towel as there is flexibility in the towel and you can feel it snap
Great explanation as always Danny, you’ve helped my game improve this year, thank you 👍🏼
Happy to help Nick 😁
Fantastic lesson Danny , well done 👍
Glad you liked it! Alan
Great lesson, thanks Danny
Thanks Alex 👍
Love your content, very easy to follow and put into practice 😊
Awesome, thank you! Really appreciate you taking the time to share
