  • CarGurus contributor, Clifford Atiyeh, invites you in for a look at his personal car: a 2017 Jaguar F-TYPE.
Sharp looks, great sound, and a manual transmission: what else could Cliff ask for in a daily driver?
Although it's not always the most practical car (just look at those blind spots), Cliff appreciates how the F-TYPE allows him to feel like he's living life to the fullest. When your job entails driving dream cars and then giving them back at the end of a week, it's nice to have your very own sitting in your garage every morning.

I bought a 2015 F-Type from CarMax two years ago for $48,000. The car had 19,00 miles on it and was virtually new. I paid CarMax $3,500 for a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty. Nothing better than that. New F-Types drop value like a rock, so better to buy used. In the two years I've had my F-Type I've had zero problems. And it's a gorgeous car. A piece of art, in a world where BMWs look like Hyundai's.

And... my CPO (7Y/100K bumper to bumper warranty) 2014 F-Type has appreciated, not a lot, but its worth a chunk more than I paid 45K miles later. My 2011 M series was $50K and is now worth $8K (KBB) but needs a new clutch ($5K), a new top ($9K), has most of the warning lights permanently on, and has cost me a small fortune in repairs, already, raising my cost basis almost 100%.
Two ways to buy cars - buy consumer level, or buy collector worthy dream cars. Modern Jaguars are sort of the dividing line. The first goes to $0 and everything is lost, the second way is free to profitable.

I have a 2017 manual ftype coupe v6 340hp and get 26 mpg on average and thats mostly city. On a recent road trip I got 34 mpg at 70 mph over 400 miles. I was most surprised about the great gas mileage. Cheers brother! Never had a problem with it too.

I shopped a manual F-Type (convertible) when I was in the market, along with a Corvette convertible and the Boxster. While I ultimately when with the Boxster, I was very impressed by the way the F-Type drove as it was very fun and made awesome noises.
BTW, if you tap tap tap on the gas while in gear, you can make the exhaust pop and crackle on demand...that never gets old!

I picked up a 2018 model P-340 V6 R-Dynamic this week and it's absolutely awesome. I've upgraded from an Audi TT mk2 also manual. The F-type is a mix of sports car and luxury GT that sounds like a super car. It's amazing. 🇬🇧

You got the best F type. The V6 is way more fun than the overpowered R. Manual, great exhaust and 300 to 400 hp you can drive to the limit is the perfect mix. Enjoy, great video btw!

I completely agree with people judging me by my car. I am a woman who loves cars maybe even more than many men. I chose the 5.0 v8 AWD version in 2017 because I feel the acoustics of the exhaust is much better than ‘20 or ‘21’s plus I’m not that crazy about some of the changes they have made recently. I love daily driving mine and I’m hard pressed to find a car that I would equally enjoy as much as this.

i've had about six cars with manual transmissions over the past 50 years. volkswagen bug, MGA, nissan 300 zx TT, ford ranger pickup, dodge ram pickup and an aston martin vantage. rarely stalled any of them. i stall the aston, it seems, at least once per outing. usually when in reverse. don't be embarrassed... i blame it on the transmission. :)
and generally, i don't like any wheels with more than five spokes (old-school "mag" influence i guess), but with even ten those wheels are very attractive! from the red center cap, the ba-relief ornamentation on each spoke, and the muted silver, they really add to the looks of the car.

The F-Type is way overpriced, in terms of luxury, quality, interior, performance, everything. It does look nice on the outside, but that's about it. If you MUST have an F-Type, the 4 cylinder turbo is the way to go. Other than that, the SVR (now SV) is the only other option you should consider. Either going for the cheapest F-Type or the most expensive one. Either way, they're still not worth the money.
