Jags are awful they break all the time. If you tune them they fall apart so much. I've own 2014 vw gti, 2015 Mercedes gla 45, 2017 audi rs3, and a 2022 bmw m5. Plus jags are so slow for the price. My bmw does quarter miles in 10.8 also my audi rs3 does quarter miles in 11.7 which is faster than that jag. That jag does quarter miles in 11.9. It's sad that a 400hp audi is faster than 575hp jag. My buddy had that f type and it broke so often. Same with his other Jag. Also electric cars are awful and a long story.
Dude. You built a magical video here. You expressed enthusiasm for the F Type commensurate with its heritage. You did the same in a more reserved teutonic manner. You are quite talented and intelligent. Well done and keep up the great reviews. Me? Old guy whose dream car at 16 was a 1968 Jaguar XKE in British Racing Green. Now, after a career as a Marine Corps officer and an oil and gas exploration geophysicist I can land 2023 Jaguar F Type in BRG with a couple of thousand miles on it for ^9 to 72 k. I'm a happy man. Cheers my friend.
Of all the things that can be said and delved into about cars, this guy here is succinct and seems to hit on the cardinal points. Mercedes is a bit more on the luxury range of the spectrum, while Jaguar (and BMW) is more on the sport experience, and it is interesting how you feel faster in some cars, even if you aren't (MGB GT's of the 1960's). Then there are Corvettes for speed freaks, but anyone who knows how to work engines can go much quicker. Hope you are in a drop-top!
Awesome video. Just purchased a brand new F-Type 4 weeks ago for my 46th birthday. It came down to the C8, Lexus LC500, and the F-Type. I do not regret my decision. Absolutely love this car as a daily driver and the sound.....oofff!
@@Thq-ff8wz so I always see mixed reviews about the reliability of Jaguar. Back in 2020 I purchased a brand new Jaguar E-Pace for my wife and she put about 50k miles on it in about 3 years before she traded it in for a bigger SUV. She only traded it in because we needed a bigger SUV keep in mind. During those 3 years 50k miles not a single issue. As of right now, I have now owned my F-Type for just over 7 months now and I have not had any issues. Yeah, I will admit the infotainment sucks, including the touchscreen, but that would be my only gripe.
In the UK the Jaguar has lots of appreciation, and this appears to be the case on US forums too. The F Type R is rare and unique and everyone loves a Jaguar!❤️
😜😜😜True story back in the day I bought new 1983 Jaguar XJS 12 cylinder coupe. I was going to trade it in on another car and sales manager said you will do better selling it private party. Put ad in newspaper-yes this was the 80s. Got call from professor from Long Beach State University and he came to see the car. He asked if could go by his mechanic to check the car. They talked quietly and after he came to me and said the mechanic was worried because of evidence of chronic oil leak. He asked if we could go by the dealer where I bought and serviced the car. The dealer mechanic put on lift and when asked by the potential buyer and mechanic replied in heavy accented English "This one has leak but better than most and they all leak". At the end of the day we made a deal and sold the car. Sorry for the long comment!
I have a F Type 5 litre R , older model 550 bhp with a fixed spoiler which really gives it curb appeal and I absolutely love it , excites me every time I get in it , recently done a 2000 mile across Europe and the car attracted lots of attention, for the price these cars are the best on the market , also for £650 I can remap to give 600 bhp, loved your vlog here in the UK
I had an Audi with a supercharger and loved that car. Not only does the supercharger give you instant boost from the first touch of the pedal but when you need to increase speed it allows for a powerfully smooth acceleration and do not have to kick it down a gear to achieve.
I owned a 2018 F-Type SVR briefly. It was a blast to drive and had power for days. Aggressive and unabashedly loud when you wanted it to be, but behaved and refined when needed. It was just too much power for me as a daily driver. Still loved that car.
@@yinshah3303 These manage to hold value after they fall about 40-50% off of their original sticker, picking a used one up is a killer deal. I had a 2016 F-Type R for a little while and even now I am itching for another.
@@KLucero22Comments like this from people like you just demonstrates how little you actually know to anyone who does know the real deal. Hope you know that. Absolute nonsense for modern day Jaguars, particularly F-types. But that’s fine, keep adding the Internet echo chamber until the crap u r spouting essentially becomes true. This is half Jaguar’s problem. People like yourself spreading this garbage.
I’ve got the 2019 F-Type V8 so I’m biased, buts it’s my favorite sports car Ive owned, I had a DB9 and a supra both excellent, but this machine is so much fun to drive. I’ll also say I’m truly pleased about its reliability, zero issues at 20,000 KM.
@@ymnop9652 I’ve never heard of one that high so can’t comment but I know a guy with a older 2016 with 66k and his biggest issue was brake dust chutes clogging off the front brakes seemed to require bi-yearly cleaning Regards
Out of curiosity, have you driven a Lexus with the 2ur v8? (Is500, lc500, RCF, ISF, GSF). Got to be one of the best sounding and feeling v8s I’ve driven. The LC500 is an event to drive, it’s just such a pleasure!
@@AudryHepborn1 Yeah, the LC500 is great. It's even more old-manish than the Jag, but it is a truly beautiful car and sounds good, all-be-ti a little more refined than the F-Type. When I was shopping, the LC500 was the other car on my shortlist. I found a gorgeous 2015 F-Type R with low miles, though, and I couldn't pass it up. The F-Type R is such a visceral experience to drive.
I’ve had an F-Type SVR for almost 2 years and it’s been my absolute favorite car I’ve ever owned. It’s an absolutely beautiful extremely underrated car. People ask me all of the time of the “maintenance nightmare” it must be, but honestly the only issues I’ve had were an O2 sensor and a battery that needed to be replaced. I could not recommend this car more.
You had it only 2 years. What do you expect? Having an O2 sensor go bad on a car less than 2 years old is pretty bad. It is a pretty car, but I do NOT trust Jaguar quality.
@@kevindepew8193Luxury cars, particularly sports cars, aren't intended to be reliable. The more luxury and sporty, the less reliable. For instance, the build quality of a McLaren is arguably crap.
I moved from a 2018 infiniti Q60 red sport stage 1+ to a used for 8k miles 2022 jaguar f type R coupe and I'm really happy with I don't have a problem with the infotainment system cause my car it's a coupe even with open cover for the moonroof , the sound system is not the best but is still good n I'm planning to add a subwoofer in the trunk and changing the door speakers with better one but in the same diameter to keep the stock looking for the interior , the exhausts are amaaaaazing in stock , people don't believe me that they r stock but definitely I'll modified theme just by deleting the cats or a stainless steel 3 inches straight pipes , and maybe i will create a wide body for it by myself cause i have a 3d printing machine with a scanner cause there's no tuning accessories in the market... I will tunit after few thousands miles n drive it till the 30s thousand miles and sell it or trade it for an aston martin vintage v8 2022 or a Corvette c8 z51 stingray
Smashing stuff. Your channel popped up on my TH-cam feed and I immediately wondered “where has this been all my life.” Your reviews are fantastic. Keep it up! Two comments on your review: 1) yes, the Meridian sound system in the F-Type isn’t the greatest, but I honestly can’t remember when I turned the radio on in my 2021 F-Type R…the exhaust note is my soundtrack. 2) The simple fix for people who want the sub 3500 RPM roar and all the pops and bangs of the post 2021 F-types, is to pull the active exhaust fuse. I did it, and will never go back. No modifications necessary!
I have a 2015 E63S and that one def have the twin turbo's you are mentioning, but my god, the space and the fact that it is still just shy of 600 HP with what feels like instant delivery more or less puts a smile on my face :)
I love my 2014 red v6 jag roadster! Traded my boxster for it and it rocks. The thing is you can really get good deals on these vs many other roadsters. thanks for the great review.
First time I have seen one of your vids. Well done. Followed. I have a 2010 Jaguar XFR and nothing blends comfort and raw visceral performance like a Jag.
Knowing I work for a dealer group that works on these, I would consider it because I get an employee discount for maintenance and fixing the damn thing
love that jag. truly underrated af! great vid miles! considering the F Pace SVR next, its just so perfect, hopefully reliability aint too bad. (currently got a basic caddy cts, but i hate how turbos feel, i want supercharged and awd)
@@zali9657 yeah it seems to be a mixed bag. Seen plenty of ppl happy with them, but I also seen plenty of people who have issues with all sorts of jaguars from diff models to years. GLC 63 AMG from what I’m hearing isn’t any more reliable, at least from the research I’ve done (and also costs an arm and a leg and maybe even your kidney to repair and maintain). No such thing as a reliable fast suv that doesn’t destroy your wallet huh 😂 (unless ofc you do some modding but I mean stock
Sounds VERY nice. I'm generally a turbo fan, like the woosh more than the whine , I have a big turbo Cobalt SS which turbo lag isn't too bad, about 3599-3600 RPM and you better be pointed in the right direction OR know how to play with the throttle especially coming out of a corner in third, very fun car, and the sound it makes,.not like a ricer, not even close, a much deeper roar, violent when the boost kicks in. I didn't hear any whine from the Jag, I also love the body style of the F Type, rarely see them which makes it more cool when you do. The Jag sounds so good.
I owned a 2015 F-type R coupe (I was 30-32 at the time of owenership). What a machine. Pure theater all the time and handled well once I fitted Michelin PS4S tyres. Mine was RWD too and the backend was playful. And the noise, what a noise.
Dude, your car reviews are the best. I like your detailed descriptions using precise language that leaves no ambiguity. Plus, you seem like a great guy, so it’s enjoyable watching and listening. Great job.
I have owned my F-type for a year now and it is just a fantastic car. I've owned two SL-500's , Porsche Boxster S , Lexus SC400, and the F-Type makes me smile the most.
Bought a 2018 R Dynamic V6. The wife took to calling it “poppy” because of the silly ass sounds it makes. It’s almost impossible to drive it without giggling.
The jag f type svr is my dream car. i love how under the radar it is, how fast it is, and how affordable it is in comparison to cars with similar performance
I wouldn't really call an F-Type a supercar, but they're gorgeous in my opinion. I do see a lot of them where I live, so a bit of a downside if someone likes something different here. I do like "old guy" roadsters (former SL owner), so the intro was working for me lol. Loving your videos BTW.
Supercar is an arguable term, but it's definitely not exotic, as I've heard some people try to refer to it as. What is undeniable though, is that these things are a blast to drive. I had a 2016 F-Type R for a short time and even though you can get more features in a Benz or Porsche, the F-Type always just felt like a wild animal that was ready to misbehave the moment you stopped asking it not to.
I always think of supercars as being mid-engine. But then again, you also have some front-engine cars like certain Ferrari's and the AMG GT that are considered supercars as well. So I guess it depends. But yeah, the F-Type to me is more of a grand tourer/sporty kind of car instead of a legit supercar.

Jags are underrated even here in the uk, as for reliability they are just as good as the germans, I think they suffer from outdated stereotypes and probably fly under most peoples radar. Jags are so well designed imo and because of their rarity, they make em more special than competitors.
Not anymore than their German competitors, bmw engines were recalled for catching fire, and there have been reports of police bmw engines blowing up, but yet bmw don't automatically get tarnished with a bad engine reputation. All manufacturers have their problems.
@@GetawayGuyDriver no hate. I love F-pace ( F type too) but googling about engine blowed up is wild. Even the one I wanted buy had replaced engine. @esterix101 you'll probably find articles on all manufacturers engines blowing up, the safest cars for reliability are probably toyota and honda, anything else and it's down to a mix of luck and care.

I do know it's all coming to and end for ICE powered cars and that makes me sad as ICE cars have personality compared to EVs. I think I miss the sound more than anything. I actually got a new ‘17 R convt for my girl back in late ‘15. Thought I was getting a ‘16 but it turned out being a ‘17 cause of the special spec I ordered. It already sounded badass but I put on a Capristo exhaust and a blower pulley size swap and some sweet HRE rims and custom tune. All said, this thing was insanely loud and really quick. Just as fast as my Vanquish Volante with more mods. I really has a blast in this thing and smoked just about everything around. Great bargain
There are a few cars where sounds are so exhilarating that it really makes the experience. The car is usually fast enough, and when the sounds are exciting to hear, it never gets old...
Idk who would ever wanna buy new after I bought a 2012 e93 m3 with an ESS supercharger and 50k miles clean title with rod bearings and throttle actuators already done for only $30k flat. I know the hard top convertibles weigh significantly more but it’s absolutely justifiable with a straight pipe S65 sound going straight to my eardrums❤️
Jaguar neutered the exhaust sound In 2017 models. If you were able to get your hands on 2013-2016 the pops and burbles are INSANE. I purchased a 2016 V8 R AWD and removed the stock airboxes and put large cone performance intakes. When the car revs around 3,000 rpm it sounds like Ferrari. This version also has the upgraded meridian surround sound that 770W and comes with a TV tuner and DVD player stock. You could go to velocity AP and purchase the supercharger pulley and tune to get the exhaust notes from the 2012-2016 models but its going to run you almost 5 grand.
I LOVE my F-Type! He's right; it's fun, emotional and raw... and it makes for a great daily. The only thing he got wrong is the amount of attention you get in one. It's almost embarrassing how much of it I get. Great video though!
I wouldn't say I got that wrong because I'm simply sharing my experience with the car. Compared to the Benz, the car was hardly acknowledged by anyone, especially when the V8 wasn't roaring. I think a lot of people simply can't identify the car which affects how people can get excited for it or not. Thanks for watching though!
@syfer1016 bought it new in 2018. Recently replaced the water pump, the only mechanical issue I've had to date. Maintenance is expensive now that I no longer have the complimentary maintenance, which it always seems to require. But I LOVE it!

If your worried about fuel costs I can assure you this isn't the car for you. I have a 2019 f type R uk fuel is approx $7 per gallon, but its not really a consideration in total cost of ownership.
@@scoops0406 I think you're assuming that everyone buys these cars, new. Many of those who buy them used are less likely to want to spend $200+ a week on fuel.
@@davepaturno4290 Not at all, but like any high performance cars, the maintenance bills are high. As an owner of a f type R I'll give you an example. I had all the fluids changed plus a fully major service plus some other bits and pieces, the cost was about $5,000. A new set of types will set you back $2000. So if you're worried about fuel, you really shouldn't consider one, just like most people can't afford to run 911's etc etc, as a daily drive as regardless of fuel costs, they all cost you dearly.
@scoops0406 When I buy a sportscar, I do look at all costs associated with ownership. However if every cost segment that I have no control over is very high, then I will pick a vehicle that fits my budget. I change my own oil and filters, as well as sparkplug, diff and trans oil, etc. But fuel costs cannot be reduced much, so if I can get an excellent sportscar that averages 20+ mpg vs. 12 mpg (and is not as dyi-friendly), I'd be more likely to buy the former. There are many owners out there who feel the same, especially those who represent middle to upper-middle class or who are living on a fixed income (retired).
@@davepaturno4290 12 MPG is pushing it, on a motorway in the UK I can get 30 MPG in my f type R, you can DIY all you like, tyres are a fixed cost item, as are the oils, it's not the labour so much its the parts and consumables, they aren't cheap and like all performance cars if you skimp on maintenance, expect even bigger bills.

I waited until I was aged 55 to have my SLK. I have had it 4 years (I'm now 59). Its a super charged Mercedes SLK R171 (The SLR lookalike model in obsidian black), its one of my daily drives. It's quick, highly reliable , holds the road like a sucker on a plate glass window, looks like new and is 18 years old on a 2006 plate. I love the long bonnet, sheer elegance and the vario auto convertible roof. The SL range simply does it for me above other roadsters or most exotics, even though the SL family may not be to everybody's taste. For me, it's an iconic classic, stylish sports car on a very sensible budget (well under £10k sterling - UK). 😁
My vote goes to the Jag! All things considered, I'd use the funds left over from NOT buying the MB to upgrade the sound system! Other than that, that cat is a prowler that flies beneath the radar, yet still rewards the driver as much as the observers!
Enjoyed your video. I currently own a '07 MB SL55 AMG with a modified M113k engine. Mercedes/AMG is making their cars smaller and I cannot comfortably drive the ones they are currently producing. Thank you. I'm 70 and drive a Jaguar F-Type R convertible. I stopped in the service center on Thursday and one of the things I told the manager is that you can't buy a better supercar for the money. Yes, it's a supercar. 0-60 in under four seconds, I've done it. 11.2 quarter mile at 122 mph. 186 MPH top speed. Haven't done those yet. I've had it to 142. Scary. He just said, people don't know. It's an amazing automobile. The sound. Oh my God, the sound. I also learned Thursday Jaguar won't sell or, service internal combustion autos in five years. $200,000.00 electric cars, only.
I owned the car about a month when I hit 142 on a stretch of Interstate. I'm not in a contest. I'll never try to go that fast off track again. I don't want to die, either. I won't have to change the factory tuning to go a lot faster. Some guys North of me said they could get 650HP out of it. 550, now. Are you 70?
@gregpate3640 No. I am almost 50. I do like jaguars , I think they have a nice exhaust sound. I might own one someday, but I like german more specially the RS5 or RS6..
The F Type became a sleeper the moment they gave it that unsightly face lift. So glad I got a couple of SVR's in my stable before they discontinued them.
As a Jaguar Land Rover employee, (accountant in product development) I can say that even we employees are sad that it is to be no more. A lot of us stop and stare when one drives by even off the factory floor. They have a presence that sadly won’t be replicated. It’s an unfortunate sign of the times when the Greta’s of the world spoil the enjoyment of the petrol head. Great video 😊
Your right sad indeed but many other companies are not following jaguars lead , combustion cars are not going away, I think Jaguar is making a fatal error here
I test drove a F-Type. It was a ton of fun! The crackles when you let off the throttle after flooring it are also awesome. Just couldn’t see it as a daily driver.
I have owned a v6 ftype for 1 year and a v8R for 2 years, it’s a love hate thing, I’ll say it how it is, great looking, sound amazing, fast in a straight line, handles ok, it’s very heavy for a 2 seater sports car, not the best on the track, very unrealiable with expensive maintenance and problems happen too often
@@sdallnct it's not the matter of it being modern or not. In 99% of the cases convertibles will be worse than suoercar variants, soft non cornering boats because of added weight and totally not suited for anything hard top variants can do
The F-Type. Truly compelling. Like your videos. That said my dream cars all come with a manual. Because paddles are for canoes. Yeah I coined that. And yes I put my money where my mouth is, so don't blame me if manufacturers kill off the few remaining options to row your own gears. The last two cars I bought- available only with a six speed manual. Jaguar and Mercedes, not to mention Ferrari, Lamborghini, Corvette etc. have lost the enthusiast plot. Pity. So we get heavier, less involving cars needing more power to compensate. Sonewhere between a spartan Lotus Elise and a sumptious Bentley Flying Spur is the sweet spot of engagement and livability. It is sitting in my garage.
I recently bought a 2016 F-Type 3.0S coupe, manual transmission. Nor a supercar but a beautiful car with a wonderful sound. The manual F-Types are quite rare, you have to really want one to get one, mine was 2,000 miles away.
@@3ducs They are special for sure. Glad you found one. If 'nobody is buying manuals' how come they are in more demand and get higher prices in the enthusuast market? Try finding a Ferrari F430. 360, 355, or Audi R8 manual and then compare pricing to the much less expensive ones without that gated manual. The fact Honda sold every Type R and SI it made- without any transmission option other than a six speed manual speaks volumes. 2,000 miles is a long way to go. Much respect.
First time coming across your channel, you had me at the intro! Great overall comparison and I also would have to take the F-Type. I don't care about anyone seeing me, and if the sound system sucks, oh well, I'll just listen to that exhaust for hours!
I'm so happy that this is a thing, I loved the old Jags and wasn't super excited about the recent ones - but this, THIS is nice. This car is too damn nice
The interior from 2005 bothers me about the jaguar but man it sounds REALLY good. Update that interior, especially the tech, and I’d seriously consider one.
Best thing is buying the F type two years old, and getting it for 60% off, they loos there value very quickly. There not known for being very reliable so enjoy for a few years, and sell before the issues.
Love the Jag, but chose an SL55 earlier this year when I was in the market. Looked at about everything, and within 5 minutes of a test drive bought the SL. Took delivery in March and I’m approaching 3K miles. Looks like you might be in ATL, if so check out Gas Gears and Beers at Wild Heaven Brewery at the end of most months.

She only traded it in because we needed a bigger SUV keep in mind. During those 3 years 50k miles not a single issue.

I would definitely choose the f-type.
The f type exhaust is just so unique and beautiful
Can’t wait to buy an F Type. They made so few, I’ve already been waiting a few months for the right one to pop up
I drive a 10 year old Jaguar XKR and I get tons of looks, compliments and conversations about it. Its the four seater big brother of the Ftype
My vote goes to the Jag! All things considered, I'd use the funds left over from NOT buying the MB to upgrade the sound system! Other than that, that cat is a prowler that flies beneath the radar, yet still rewards the driver as much as the observers!
You know what’s underrated? Its this channel. Well done!
Type R is the best bang for your buck
Enjoyed your video. I currently own a '07 MB SL55 AMG with a modified M113k engine. Mercedes/AMG is making their cars smaller and I cannot comfortably drive the ones they are currently producing. I was loaned a 2019 Aston Martin Vantage (the sister of the F-type) when I visited Southern California and it was a very comfortable and powerful.
SL any day. The interior tho 😮💨😮💨
To each their own!
Is a absolute nightmare yes.
Only good thing about is the leather.
@@gaara4667strange opinion, how so?
@@Gs.1f1 just don’t like the look of a giant screen slapped in the middle of the car. Just look like a afterthought to me.
F-Type has a big dose of muscle car infused within. (Love the exhaust notes) Drive the Merc to be seen, the Jag to be heard
I like the wise guy interactions 😅 keep ‘em coming haha
This car rocks! Also you're video production is top notch. LOVE the channel!! Keep up the great work.
They won’t service their own gas vehicles?
142..umm I did 150 on my old Audi A4 1.8T... I am trying to beat my own record after I tune my A6 supercharged..Hopefully won't kill myself trying
I bet you they will walk that back. 100% electric is suicide
The F Type became a sleeper the moment they gave it that unsightly face lift.
So glad I got a couple of SVR's in my stable before they discontinued them.
I think I would go with the Jag. It would come down to cup holders
F-Type is my third favorite dream car. Number 1 is the 911 and number 2 is the C8 Corvette.
I have 2022 F Type previous FType 2018 I have done over 90.000 miles with absolutely no reliability issues
Convertibles aren't supercars, they are just convertibles...
😂 think I’d disagree. Tho if want to differentiate w/modern supercars, guess u could.
@@sdallnct it's not the matter of it being modern or not. In 99% of the cases convertibles will be worse than suoercar variants, soft non cornering boats because of added weight and totally not suited for anything hard top variants can do
You have a great delivery style in your reviews. Subscribed.
The look and sound is good but these cars are not known for their reliability personally never seen one over 80k miles😂 for sale
"supercar"?
Soup-poor car
Budget? Haha
Having owned an XK, fvck Jaguar.
“Budget”
@@Milpower I wanna buy an XKR, why do you say f Jag after ownership? Genuinely intrigued
First time coming across your channel, you had me at the intro! Great overall comparison and I also would have to take the F-Type. I don't care about anyone seeing me, and if the sound system sucks, oh well, I'll just listen to that exhaust for hours!
That jag interior is from 2008, its so bad.
Nah keep your dumbass touchscreens to yourself. I don't want that gay shit on my car
10:47 i like how you changed the lighting and contrasts to make the amg pop more lol 😂😂😂
I just wrapped an R for the first time! They're like Aston Martin's but jaguar. Pretty bad ass
It’s classic British Sports car. Stylish but unassuming, one can go relatively unnoticed roaring about the country side with a smile on your face and a semi in your trousers.
