well im from llano and i can say its some pretty good food ..but know this 1st they may say its cooked not smoked but its cooked on a bed of mesquite wood ...so you still get some decent smoke flavor...the sauce is good but my advice is dont let them dip your meat...get it on the side..that way you have the option of enjoying some of it with the pure mesquite flavor of the meat and you can use the sauce at your leisure.. on tx hwy 29 on the west side of llano..(on the left if westbound)...:)
We have been eating at cooper a long time , 20+ yes, There too much fat on the beef. I went February 5, 22. I was very disappointed. After paying for 1 lbs of uneaten fat , It will be along time before I come back.
Just a small correction --- the "original" Coopers location (before Llano opened on Highway 29) is found in an itty bitty place just east of Mason --- about 30 minutes northwest of Llano. Same food - the same atmosphere and hospitality --- but the pits in Llano are giant compared to the small pits in Mason. =)
I've eaten there a couple of times. I'm not impressed and the sides are way overpriced. Cranky Frank's and Backwoods in Fredericksburg are better in my opinion.
This is not the BBQ place to order brisket or sausage. The brisket is cooked too hot and too fast and the sausage doesnt have a nutural casing. Order any meat with a BONE in it! Chicken poke chop, ribs, goat etc. All are very good. Skip the "sides" except the free beans, pickles, onion and jalapenos. "Famous" cobbler is Mrs. Smiths' and is sold frozen at the grocery store.
My mom and I went this past Saturday and for 1lb brisket, 1/2 pound beef ribs, 1/4 pound pulled pork, jalapeño bacon Mac and cheese, cherry cobbler, two corns and two drinks it was ~70. It's worth it though. Its that good. Skip the corn though.
Going there after visiting Fredericksburg to take a break from Houston
It’s time for you to journey to Franklyn’s BBQ in East Austin!
Their beef ribs are amazing!
Love watching the day tripper
Bon appetite.
By far the best. I will drive from Cypress. And have to get the cobbler.
Chet its yahno not llan oh

Laird's was the best BBQ in Llano until Ken and Esther retired.
Ate here in Llano and it was AWFUL. Chop was tough as shoe leather as were the ribs. I will never go back.

Next time we go to Llano we're going to try Inman's
I agree, the meat itself is good and the beans are great as well!!!

Best BBQ ever.
Wendy Lou I think it's way overpriced. I've had much better.

Not at all impressed with Coopers. I was greatly disappointed, especially after all the hype.

Everything but the pork chop looks great !! The pork chop looks like any pork chop I cook; dry an over cooked!!
What was the price of that meal? Did you have to rob a bank to pay for it😄

Great background music! Love SRV and his brother Jimmie Vaughan!!!
Looks a lot like Hard 8. They have the same setup.
If you like to pay high prices for a whole lot of fat....cooper’s is the place to go.
Finger schauen und lernen.
