After watching this video I drove 10 hours down to Texas a couple months ago and had that beef rib. So worth it
The “char” you’re referring to is called the Bark. True Texas style seasonings are made with Salt, Pepper and Garlic. Makes an amazing Bark.
Since you're from Texas, I would like to know if there's halal meat joints cause this looks heavenly
@@CarbonPower sweet, If I go to texas i will definitely try it, Btw what is the joint called?
MetaDude it’s called THE HALAL GUYS. It’s on Louetta Rd and it’s quite good
@@CarbonPower oh I have seen those guys on food insider, The Gyro ones right?
6 minutes in and I'm looking up flights to Austin.
I'm with you-= Icant take this much longer without a RIB in my mouth lol
The wife is retiring from teaching and already I'm semi-retired, we ARE heading down to Texas for these BBQ s this Summer for sure!
Gus Becerra yo Gus. Get yourself a cheap smoker and make it yourself! You will be so happy you did!
Make sure you head to Lockhart Texas brotha, you won’t regret it. Best bbq in the country
Make sure you go to the wineries outside of Austin. Bbq meat and a great merlot are awesome!
I like how people are just chilling, minding their own businesses, eating bbq, while you record and bask in the glories of smoked meat.
It’s because in Austin they have. Lot of people who record, so we just mind our business.
Austin has been ground zero for alot of live music, video recording and a plethora of selfies. We are used to it. Glad people enjoy Austin as much as the locals do!
"When I'm older and can't chew anymore, I'm gonna come here." LOL
So excited you came to our neck of the woods. Terry Black.s is amazing and so is Franklin BBQ. LOVE the cheddar jalapeño sausage at Black’s and. Franklin’s beef brisket and Beef Rib is AMAZING. We’ve been to both several times and we actually just did a Step by Step guide to Franklin BBQ. Glad you got to truly enjoy some of the best BBQ in the world. The only thing I’ll tell you is that Brisket and Beef rib flavor will stick with you for at least a week. By the way could you check out our latest Franklin BBQ video as we’d love to hear your thoughts. Thanks Mike!
Is this an new kinda torture we gotta endure during covid 19 lockdown.
Liu Kang bruuhhhh it's 3 in the morninig and i can't even eat it cause im muslim
So... get you a smoker ... meat... and enjoy it ... and in quaratane...you can eat it all alone :D
this dude is the real deal! love how he just tears into the food without caring about how he looks chomping on those huge chunks of ribs lol reminds me of me when I've had way too much to drink and I find some left over bbq in the fridge and just tear it up!
He talked about that beef ribs for 6 minutes straight. Lol 😂
I had that rib twice during a trip to Austin last month. My only regret was that I didn't go three times. Or four. Or, well, you get the drift. Line isn't as super crazy as Franklin's too.
hard not to talk about a rib that looked like it was on The Flintstones Movie. lol
Every time I go to Texas my grandma makes jalapeño sausage and brisket with cassorale and it is soooooooo good your vid reminded me of home cooking
We just dropped by Terry Black's, wasn't busy since we went for an early dinner, but it was the best Bbq I've ever eaten. The pork ribs were seasoned so well and the bark tasted like jerky; it was awesome. 10/10 would recommend
The funny thing is, this is just Austin. There's so many places in Texas that are just as good or better than these places he visited. It's incredible. I have to make my own BBQ just to bring back memories of Texas BBQ.
Lol 😂 I don’t know man Franklin’s BBQ should be illegal because it’s just that damn good. God I miss Texas sometimes. I’ve had a lot of BBQ in that state and Franklin’s was well worth the 2 hour wait. Holy shit that brisket should be outlawed because it just blows the competition away. Texas owns BBQ and Mexican food.
BBQ in Texas is pretty much what dreams are made of. Those beef ribs?! Amazing.
this is the most in depth and informative bbq review video I've seen. The passion for the meat ones through vividly. I'd go as far as to say this guy is an artist whose medium is reviewing bbq. Excellent. One thing though, every time he said "char & spice" crust or level, I was. in my head like, "BARK...IT'S CALLED BARK", lol
He sat in the exact same spot as guga in Franklin's
Glad I met you while you in Austin TX! I’m so glad you liked those round rock donut!
Oh wow you were the one who brought him the donuts how cool those donuts look bomb
Wholly mother of humanity ! That looks so freaking amazing ! I'm so jealous right now. 🤤
This dude is just so fun to watch. It’s soothing for the soul.
Really great at story telling. I felt as if I was tasting the food with you. Great vid
A moment of silence for the vegans who will never enjoy true happiness.
@@swankswag Well.. while you're at it; get the best slice of meat out there.. Don't cheap out, lol
When it comes to BBQ, Texans are the kings of Smoked Brisket. C’mon!
I think I've watched this video for more than 20 times now, definitely one of the best Mikey has put out lol
I love how you pull the tender meat apart with a cheap plastic fork. It truly shows how tender that meat is. good job my friend!
The incredibly long line at Franklin’s always turn me off....Terry Black’s is amazing anyway with hardly any wait time.
Exactly. We're so lucky to have our choice of BBQ joints in Austin. Have only been to Blacks in Lockhart, but that rib def has my attention! I agree about Franklins. Can't imagine ANY bbq place is so good that I would stand in line four hours for it. Only if it were free, and maybe not even then.
@HeyWould Ja’Blowme MGTOW I think the pickle juice is a myth. I've heard he uses - 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup water. He never specifies in his book exactly what he uses so guess we'll never know.
I don't like waiting in line as much as the next person. But if you really like BBQ that much you would wait for Frankllins. I have eaten at most of the highly reviewed and acclaimed BBQ in TX, but the brisket at Franklins is at another level. No one else comes close IMO.
Franklin's is over hyped hipster bbq, it's good but not worth the wait!
Damn straight. No food no matter how good is worth waiting at 5AM for.
"That turkey's dry, Give me another piece." What a subtle way of criticizing ... 😂
Hey Mike! Glad you enjoyed some Texas BBQ. Please try to make your way to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area someday! We have an incredible blend of Texas BBQ, a huge Asian population, and down-home southern comfort food! It's basically heaven!
So much fun watching you. You are so poetic about describing your food.
I think it's safe to say that even the 'bad' bbq in texas is still better than what you can get in NY.
@@ratlips4363 fette sau. Good brisket and amazing pork belly, pulled pork
......and let’s not get started on that place in NYC that claims to sell Austin breakfast tacos......they don’t 🤓
I've watched this video a year or two ago and finally just went here for the first time yesterday coming from Massachusetts and let me tell you this is probably the best BBQ I've ever had the pleasure of consuming, the flavors, hospitality, and all around quality was top tier I wish I was able to eat more of it! Everytime I come back to Texas im making it a thing to come back to Terry's Idk if I will be able to enjoy bbq from anywhere else without thinking about or comparing it to Terrys
Amazing. And your description of the culinary experience is superlative.
I went from watching this man talk about ancient civilizations to reviewing good foods from everywhere
Excellent video! That Smoked Texas Barbecue looked amazing! Thank you!
That kind of restaurants should be everywhere, damnnnnnn 😍❤️👏
As far as BBQ goes the South has the best,BUT when it comes down to brisket TEXAS can NOT be beat 🍗🍖.
@@mercy9458 I'm not a southerner myself but Texas brisket is pretty damn fantastic.
This is obscene. I can't believe TH-cam allowed this porn to be uploaded. Everyone please report
I'm personally offended. I'll never be the same again. I made an appointment with a psychiatrist after viewing this video.
This is the best BBQ I’ve ever had. It’s insane good.
Salute to you, man💙...who after waiting for 5 hours, had the patience of showing the food items and explain them detaily🤤.....i would have straight driven to food and would have ate like a Monster😂💙
Mike, I'm from San Antonio and no joke for months I've been wanting to go to Austin. I'm only 3:30 minutes into you're video and I'm already drooling, I could practically smell the Barbque.
You're from San Antonio & have never been to Austin? How long have you been in SA?
@@MattD1911 no no I've been to Austin but it's been a while since money has been so tight.
This is now on my bucket list! I'm going to go here all the way from the UK, South Wales. I cannot wait! I'll tag you Mike whenever it happens 😛
I hope you don't have to drive ten hours like that other guy in the comments......😊
This has been in my suggested feed at least 3 times and ive watched it every time
Im watching this video almost every month. I cant get enough of it. Lol. It's so good 😍😍😍
Love your videos! You have a special skill explaining and describing food in a way everyone can understand. I can relate to walking everywhere, love to travel and walk to explore new places.
I love your video... currently driving to Austin right now JUST to try this barbecue!
That's one authentic slow roasted tender juicy beef brisket i've seen in like my whole life..Literally deserves a standing ovation
Whenever my mood feels very low, mikey’s voice comes to the rescue without fail, works like a charm
Hilarious video. I consider myself and expert bbq guy but I’ve been dreaming of Franklins also. Thanks for the vivid descriptions!
i jas love this guy when he describes the composition of food tastes
Travelled all the way from the UK to be there at no.1 in the queue. 5:30 am. 10/10 would do it again! We also visited Round Rock Dounuts and IMO, the best sausage was at Louie Millers in Lockhart. Thanks for the video and you even caught my sticker on one of your camera pans at Franklins :-)
You went to Lockhart and did not try Smitty's sausage in Lockhart? Now that is the bomb. Need to reschedule.
Wow.. hes just glowing with bbq happiness. ❤😍😍 All looks absolutely fabulous. Want to send out prayers to Texas after the vile domestic terrorist attack in El Paso. New Zealand sends its love and support.
I've had the Terry Blacks beef rib and it is a life changing experience.
Was there a couple months back and I will say the beef rib is next-level as well. Waited five hours and would do it again.
Doesn’t get better than this. I’ve never felt so hungry watching a food video before!
It's great that you are equally passionate about food and also exercising, because you need something like that to balance everything out! I love your channels Mikey, you are a national treasure :) I wish you all the happiness, only good things should be going your way.
i watched this video multiple times nd mamy many fav videos loviinnnn itttttt jackii chann
I'm about an hour from Austin and 3 hours from Dallas. I can't believe I've never been to a Terry Blacks. You can bet that will change the first chance I get!! That charred crusty outside is called the bark and we love it so much and everyone always asks for it, that a lot of BBQ places started taking some of their brisket and chopping it up putting it back in the smoker to get it charred up and it's called burnt ends. I'm surprised they didn't give you dill pickle slices what we call hamburger chips and raw onion. The dill pickle is really essential to have that vinegar to help break through the richness of the beef.
When he said, “ it’s 6 am and it’s 100 Degrees outside.” I really felt that 😩😩😩 I’m from Houston and I’m gonna have to come to these places. Love my Texas 🥰🥰
Traveled to Austin because of this video. Thank you for the info.
Come to the houston area and check out corkscrew bbq in spring. It is a definite banger and they are on many of the best bbq lists...
Ever since the owners wife told me the reasoning of not making more bbq to accommodate sales later than 2pm, i have been going back.
Her answer, Will would not be able to put out the same quality of product by doing more.. so if you dont make it by 2pm most days its all gone.. they are open for service id guess maybe 4-5hrs a day
hey theres another vid u should check out! their bbq is prob the best in texas tbh
Lockhart isn't far from Austin and it's called Texas BBQ Capital for a reason.
Man your close-ups are off the charts! I love Terry Blacks!
Always love your videos, next time thru there will definitely stop n try. Mike may you continue to have wonderful and successful channel. Also just rewatched giving your parents the new home. Awesome!
Dude. You gotta love those Franklin pork ribs and I will tell you the Franklin Beef Ribs are AMAZING and to top it off having those delicious pies. SO GOOD! Great video and glad you enjoyed it.
My stereotyping
Texas people ➔ big
Japanese people ➔ skinny
After I saw this video, I know why,,,
Yes, we need this in Japan, especially in Osaka😂
Looks so yummy,,, 😂😂
love his video as always😂😂😂
Pretty sure we’re the fattest state. So not much of a stereotype, considering it’s true xD
@@FecalMatador when you eat big, it's only natural that you'll get big, that being said i know if i was living in texas i'd be on TLC's My 600-Lb Life. lol
There is a place in Nagoya called Midtown that does Texas style BBQ. I make trip there when I miss home!
Ok, Glad to see, I'm not the only one who can discuss BBQ and other great foods like a passionate momment...:)
Well described Texas food details. Great video
yes! I live in Austin and am so glad you came!
We were just saying the same thing. We're also Austinites, and also full time travelers. We just did a step by step Franklin bbq experience video and watching Mike was awesome. He actually sat right where we sat. Glad to see he enjoyed it as much as we did. LOL.
Watching this at 3 am don’t know why but now I’m hungry GREAT
The commentary is priceless lol! love it
From San Diego and when I visited Austin I went there. Bbq heaven
That looks so good I have tears in my eyes because that beef is a thing of beauty
This guy is awesome at explaining how the beef meat is !! So many adjectives with metaphors !! Yes man, i want to kiss the rib too 😃
Aaaaand for Christmas I'm smoking me a Franklin style brisket. The 12-14 hrs will be worth it!
Going to Texas and trying all the best bbq spots is on my bucket 🪣 list 😋🤤
Wow I’ve been waiting for Mikey to head to Franklins for years it finally happened ❤️
Can’t wait to travel again. Awesome video
I've lived in Austin my entire life and you cannot find bad BBQ in central Texas. Even if you go to a BBQ at someones house it's still guaranteed to be good.
Omg I’m watching this during the stay at home thing and this is torture I’m craving everything
8:10 Mike: "I think it is time for me to have some fruit."
Me: Yeah something healthy seems appropriate.
Mike: Grabs the banana pudding
XD
I love how they cooperate to the vlog showing the Meat in perfect angle thats what i called perfection
I love how he says " This is the Shmokiest " lol
Been waiting for you to do this one bro! Thank you so much.👍🏽 bbq 🍖
Mike’s visiting Franklin’s BBQ? Its about time!
If anyone is traveling to the houston area, the south side of town has Killens bbq, and the north side has Corkscrew BBq... and both are amazing
Im glad you liked texas brisket. I love it . I live in south texas and frequently smoke my own ribs, brisket, chicken.
Been waiting all Sunday for a notification! :)
I'm jealous of my aunt Marth now, she lives in Texas and gets awesome BBQ whenever she wants!
My mouth watered this entire video looking at that barbecue. Bucket list restaurant.
Feel so lucky I work 2 building down from here. Consistent with their BBQ everytime. Excellent lunch spot.
who else is surprise that he ordered some green beans? lol
It's called balance! I always have a veggie with my BBQ, but it's usually corn-on-the-cob.
I missed Mike by a few days 😩 🤦🏻♀️
Fan from Texas and Philippines right here! 🙋🏻♀️
Hahaha I love that I have the chance to go enjoy this whenever I please
I went to try both during the pandemic and franklins bbq is just a different breed.
That first place, Terry Blacks....O M G!! The food looks soooo gooood!! Only thing missing on that platter was the "rice"
🤤🤤🤙🤙🤙🤙
I’m from Texas, I love whenever people from around different states come here and try our bbq. It’s good with some sweet tea!
I wonder if their sweet tea is like our southern sweet tea
Or a shiner beer
Sweet tea but it ain’t sweet enough. I Tell you what.
I love me some sweet tea as a Texas myself but i prefer Big Red with my meal.
I'm from Brazil and I was there last year ... I loved it and I'll be back 🇧🇷
