So glad to see videos like this where the guys are being honest with us just as we would want them to be. Have a lot of faith in all their opinions. We are all fortunate to have them on TH-cam.
I'm really surprised with the hate, I loved to especially the goat. Pit beans (eg free sides) were on point. Getting flashbacks of the smells, flavors and textures. I loved it!
You are in my town! Llano. You said it right the first time. There’s a Coopers in Ft. Worth, TX as well. I’m surprised you guys didn’t try Franklin’s spot.
I've been to Coopers in Fort Worth and Austin both were awesome. I'm from Northern CA (Napa) We have great restaurants but no Texas BBQ. I love Coopers. Had the brisket, chicken, beef ribs and sausage... I thought the brisket was a touch over seasoned with salt. I liked the ribs better. My beef rib was good the day I was there. So good. We parked by the bat bridge for a few bucks and walked. We watched the bats fly out that evening. Thanks for the video!
Hey Jack if you ever find yourself in San Antonio Texas I recommend you go to the Rusty Bucket BBQ place. Its not that of a big place but its really good.
Your Texas judging is wrong. Should be about 1. Brisket 2. pork ribs 3. Beef ribs 4. Chicken In that order Pulled pork is good, but and east coast thing that only recently arrived here. And......chili has no beans! Love your channel otherwise
Love watching Jacks food wars videos, I like to see whats all out there in the US for BBQ Smoked foods.....best of all me and Jack have the same hair cut
The only Cooper's location to go to is Llano. It's the original and has always been good every time I ever traveled there. I don't trust Austin or New Braunfels.
it's sorta like the Billy Goats in Chicago, my eye doctor was down the street from the second one on Washington, which looked a lot like the original on lower Michigan, then they put a cheesy one on Navy Pier and more recently one at O'Hare airport. I used to go to the Washington street one until it closed a few years ago, they actually served fries (SNL "no fries, chips!") The original looked ok, but their beer was overpriced, over $5 for a 12 ounce bottle of Bud (a 6 pack goes for less!) I got a nice cap for $15 and left.
Love that you have Mitch with you again but really wish you had Jim with you again. Miss him. Loved the 3 of you doing the BBQ. Always a good show Jack!
If you choose restaurants based solely on one person's review, you're gonna miss out on a lot of good food. He totally passed up the free beans and sauce (which are amazing) and the camera work is really shoddy, makes the food look pretty bad. I've been to Cooper's several times and haven't been disappointed.
Some of the best BBQ outside of Austin! Southside & Myers in Elgin Tx. Kurtz and Black's in Lockhart Tx and City Market in Luling Texas.😆 City Market will have the best prices ever! Advice from a Local
Jack I'm froom Austin and live in Houston now and the coppers in downtown austin is a very low standard. The one in Llano is worth the trip. Please check it out next time you are in the Austin area.
If you do BBQ in Austin. You gotta do Franklin's, La Barbecue, and Stile's & Switch. Also my personal favorite Micklethwait Craft Meats! Advice from a Local!
Jack thank you for the review I could see you on your face how was dry look like it was tough and didn't really like it I think so far the Pecan Lodge is the one that you guys liked the best
Everyone says go to Cooper's then you go and your like what's the big deal it's that great then everyone says you went to the wrong one something is a miss in the BBQ matrix
That is not the same as the OG, the 90 minute drive might have been worth it. As far as the meat selection portion, and where’s the free beans? Also the peach cobbler is the best I’ve ever had in llano
Hey man, love your channel. I"m a long time resident of the ATX area I have hit most every BBQ joint there is. And you're right about Coopers on Congress. They original in Llano is amazing, just went there last weekend (I live north of Austin in Georgetown). The original is lights out fantastic, but I think they franchise the others. I've heard the Coopers in Ft. Worth and New Braunfels is also pretty weak, and I know for a fact the one in Junction Tx is pure garbage...Rudy's drive thru blows it away. Sorry you had a bad go there. If you want great ribs in Austin, go to Blacks BBQ on Guadalupe St. For outstanding brisket, La Barbecue on Cesar Chavez is very, very good, although I think they were a bit better when they were still in a trailer. Franklin's? Yeah , it great, but NO place is worth a 3 to 4 hour wait, period, end of story. His Highness The Arrogant One, Barack Obama ate there once and now everyone in this deep blue city thinks it's magic. Yeah, it's pretty damned good, but it's.way overrated when figuring in wait times. Even County Line is pretty decent, both locations. Avoid Iron Works on Red River, it's over priced dog food. But Cooper's in Llano is the best, IMHO and everyone of their sides is outstanding, too. Not all BBQ places can do great BBQ and great sides, but the original Cooper's does. Especially their cobblers! Man oh man oh man!
"Why is he cutting it?" Because they don't expect you to gnaw at an entire half-carcass or rack of ribs like an animal? Dunno, seems like a pretty reasonable thing to do.
You missed the free beans that are self service.... and you missed the sauce at same booth that they suggest you use on all meats. FYI Coopers is not true BBQ, they grill all of their food. Similar to the Salt Lick. Look it up.
****CORRECTION: TOTAL SCORE IS 55. I AM SORRY FOR THE MISTAKE. THANKS GEORGIA1 FOR SPOTTING THAT.
So glad to see videos like this where the guys are being honest with us just as we would want them to be. Have a lot of faith in all their opinions. We are all fortunate to have them on TH-cam.
Went to downtown coopers when I went to Austin was absolutely hands down the best brisket I've ever had, it ruined me for my local BBQ joints, lol.
I think they've stepped it up quite a bit since this was filmed. I found coopers to be the best bbq in Austin, and their brisket was fantastic
that would be cool
I'm really surprised with the hate, I loved to especially the goat. Pit beans (eg free sides) were on point. Getting flashbacks of the smells, flavors and textures. I loved it!
I was just there at Coopers a month ago, it was simply fantastic!
I thought it was just ok.
You are in my town! Llano. You said it right the first time. There’s a Coopers in Ft. Worth, TX as well. I’m surprised you guys didn’t try Franklin’s spot.
that might be next week. *wink *wink
Cooking With Jack Show get there bright and early. Good luck!
Hey Jack your total score is not 59, but 49, so the total should be 55 instead of 60

Thanks for sharing!!
Wish you had gone to Franklin's in Austin or Kruez, Smitty's, or Black's in Lockhart.
I went to the one in Llano when I was a kid in the 80's. Wish I could remember how it was.
I love these tours! Thanks for sharing, Jack!
I appreciate the honesty! Keep em coming
Hands down the best I've ever had. I did not get a chance to make it to the original, someday
Hey Jack if you ever find yourself in San Antonio Texas I recommend you go to the Rusty Bucket BBQ place. Its not that of a big place but its really good.
If you were going for offshoot bbq joints, you’d have been better off going to terry black’s in Austin.
In Llano you walk up to the open pit and tell the pit master what you want. You can’t have that pit set up inside Austin as far as I know.
Your Texas judging is wrong. Should be about
1. Brisket
2. pork ribs
3. Beef ribs
4. Chicken
In that order
Pulled pork is good, but and east coast thing that only recently arrived here. And......chili has no beans! Love your channel otherwise
Brian Wilson preach!
Brisket, Ribs, Sausage in that order. It's literally called the Texas Trinity.
The one in Mason is even better
Nooo the best one is Fort Worth right near the Stockyards!!!!
Another informative and fun episode!!!! TYFS

Nice!! I was just downtown Austin in Monday!! I don't know about Cooper's though, after you review...I probably won't be going...

I don’t know, it’s like going to New York and going to the farm league team cause it’s 90 minutes away
Most people that live in the area think pecan lodge is overrated, coopers is far better in Fort Worth
Barbque wars tour without going out of our way.
Some of the best BBQ outside of Austin! Southside & Myers in Elgin Tx. Kurtz and Black's in Lockhart Tx and City Market in Luling Texas.😆 City Market will have the best prices ever! Advice from a Local
Opie’s in Spicewood, TX is incredible too!
I’m soooo envious!
I want that blackberry cobbler recipe please.
4 minutes in and no info on barbecue? What happened to editing?

Funny, if I order Brisket and there is no fat cap on it, I’m upset. If cutting properly it should present with a copious hunk of fat cap.
What if we see you at Wal-Mart in Hendersonville? Saw you there last Friday and started to ask why you weren't in Texas doing BBQ Wars.

Why dont you inhale the rib bone as well Hog Boy!!
Stiles Switch in Austin is really good and reasonably priced.
You really should of gone to the one in Llano, anything below the Balcones Escarpment just isn't that great.
Just giving a heads up.. Mason, Tx is the original location
The coopers in mason and the coopers in llano are not the same. They do not use the same recipes, although they do have family ties
Should have gone to Franklyn's
👍 🇲🇽 🇺🇲 🇮🇹 💪
Have fun. 🍖
YOUR MISSING OUT BY NOT COMING TO EL PASO!!!!!!! JACK
I don’t understand all the hatefull comments...
Come to San Antonio
So jealous!!
After all this time the dude hasn't learned how to color correct his camera. Looks like green mold on the food.
Yeah, especially if you like green mold on your chicken and ribs.
steak dip n’ rock
The real restaurant to go to us Franklins. It is the one that prople who live in Austin scream about.
Franklins is absolutely not worth the wait. Not to say it isn't good, but it's more of a 30-45 min wait good, not a 3-5 hour wait good.
Love the vid! That chick from London was fabulous too 😏😏😏
In Austin: Iron Works BBQ
Houstonis bad on traffic alsp
TOOK YOU 6 MINUTES IN TO FINALLY walk in. I’m here for Coopers NOT listening to you with closeups.
That was a bad choice for Austin. If you go to Coopers, you'd have to go to the original one.
JJ would you ever allow another JJ's BBQ to exist and not do the same quality?
Probably not. I'd take Franklin's approach. That's the reason he hasn't expanded.
Why is he cutting the chicken waaaaahhhhh oh he's cutting our brisket too waaaahhhh, build a bridge and get over it. Cry baby 😭😭😭😭
Koji 888 awwwww how cute. You're jacks TH-cam body guard 🤣😂😂😂 dork
Say hello to Mitch. The UK thinks he's a cool dude.
I will. God bless the UK
Thank you. We need it :-)
Is this guy: Chef John from food wishes?
I'm so confuse, please somebody tell me.. I don't understand: Jeff- Jack, Mario B. etc.
Eclectica Eclectica No way - this is not Chef John. Chef John is way more refined and less whinny.
Flashing your ring on camera every 2 seconds is tacky asf
First :)
