Over the course of 2 months of editing, I realized a lot of the video games, anime, movies, and soundtracks I listened to during that time started to influence my video style, especially in the music selection. Can’t remember the amount of times I fell asleep in my chair while searching for the right track, but it was a lot, haha. A few of inspirations: Your Lie in April, Xenoblade Chronicles, RL Grime, The Bear, Chef (Jon Favreau), Lofi Girl, and Ocean’s Eleven. Sometimes I’d finish editing for the night, start playing video games, then immediately rush back to editing because of a boss fight, a cutscene, or a musical theme that inspired me to change up a particular song for a scene. sounds kinda weird, but man I love video games and anime
I have to say. You set the bar so high for yourself. All the work, effort, long nights, second guessing, skill, experience, and time you put into this... You HAVE to keep doing it.
Whatever you did to make this video, dont change up the recipe. I watched this video two times, once myself and once with my gf. We loved every second of it. Please continue doing this and make more great captivating content!!!!!!!!
Your editing was professional. However, I was even more impressed with your journalism. Your interview with Alvin and the gang and the amount of time you spent interviewing and filming the crew for the entire week showing us the very details of their day be day operations. Normally journalists are in and out in a day or so. The quality of the production of this video shows how passionate you are about getting the story out in your specific style and with that said you probably have a long career in front of you in this field.
I just drove 1300 miles from Minnesota to texas specifically to eat at goldees and experience genuine texas bbq. I’ve never had anything nearly this good. These fine people don’t just smoke meat, they make art and they are absolute masters at what they do. I WILL be back again!
@@sheppygawdog1954 I already have too many hobbies that I’m not fully committed to. A smoker would just turn into a coat rack in my garage lol. Plus it’s super expensive for someone with no knowledge to just start smoking brisket and hope it turns out good.
Dude, this is a really top notch documentary! I think I almost shed a tear for a place and food and people I've never met. You got an ear for music choices too man, I feel like I pride myself in that area too when I edit, it totally makes the piece come together. Keep up the good work!
Just have to say-this is incredible filmmaking. I watched this because I love barbecue, but after seeing this, you could do a day in the life of an accountant and I’d probably watch it. Great work.
I like how she's comfortable enough to be straight up about wanting her own restaurant. This shows the owners don't have big enough egos to want to supress that desire and have confidence they can fill her role.
It’s fairly common at the “institutions” of TX bbq. People come from all over to work and learn the craft with the goal of going out on their own. Muellers, Franklins, Killens, P Lodge, Truth, Goldees, etc etc… many of them worked or learned from the others. I talked to a kid who was unloading wood at Terry Blacks. Originally from South Carolina, him and his brother moved to TX to learn, work for a few years, and go home and start a TX bbq joint in the middle of the Carolina’s..
@@callspreadzero854 that's how it ought to be. I've heard people going to Mexico to learn how make their cuisine to open up restaurants north of the border. I think that's awesome.
You can tell the reason they’re so successful isn’t necessarily because of the food, it’s because they love the food they cook. They take an insane amount of pride in it. They love the process and every step it takes to get there. And the most important is they love each other.
Adding to that, how often do you see on one of these restaurant rehab shows where the owners of the restaurant are actually evaluating their own food like this place (21:34)? That scene alone shows the care they're putting into their craft.
As a BBQ lover, this film was so captivating. The cinematography was awesome. The guys at Goldee's seem like such a chill group, no egos at all. Great to see and hear their story.
wtf would any of them have an ego for? Only one of them owns the place. You going to look down on people because you get to sweat your ass off cooking meat for other people? lol what a loser
I'm from Texas, spent over 23 years in the restaurant business, and that is honestly probably one of the best, truest, behind the scenes look at a restaurant I've ever seen, short of being there. I hope this lets people realize the kind of work and dedication that goes into owning and running not just a bbq place, but a restaurant in general. You live and breath it. If you think of getting into the restaurant biz to just make a buck, to start one and then sell it for a bundle, because it's an easy way to make money.... DON'T!!!! you will fail. It's a way of life, not just a "job" or an investment. Fantastic video. Fantastic BBQ.
This was probably the best doc i've seen in a while. Let them speak for themselves and the passion just comes through them effortlessly. Great job Alvin
I don't know what it was but this actually made me emotional thinking about back in the day working in a restaurant. Looking back at it you don't remember the early mornings, feeling exhausted or the anxiety involved with a busy service. You remember the good times joking around, prepping food, listening to music, playing video games, taking a smoke break and having real conversations. I don't know exactly what it is but you captured something awesome in this video and it made me feel something for sure.
They all seem so chill and get along. And they're friendly with other venues and hungry to continuing learning and better themselves. That's some humble #1 And that burnt end of the brisket as a snack for people in line? GOLD
@@gg025 assuming or not don’t know if your still friends with you mates from elementary school but I am and trust me these type friendship are genuine you know what one and other can do you can tell if one is getting irritated or one should be left alone for a while you been around each gorge for so long that you literally become brothers and sisters trust me it’s hard to break these type of friendship not saying they all perfect but if you respect each other even though you are friends you will go a long way with them and you can clearly see that in this video it’s not just for the camera these guys been through it together and will continue to
There is something really amazing about a group of people coming from different background of different skins colors being friends for life and coming together over a shared love and killing it. This is whats right in the world.
It’s really amazing to see how young these guys are. Just a bunch of guys that love BBQ come together and open their own place and it just explodes. Hats off of these guys!
At 40 years old; I hear too many old heads saying that kids nowadays are lazy and won't do anything worthwhile with their life. This is an example that it's completely false. All it takes is tenacity
I’m from the state of Texas and I haven’t been down there in years, but man they take that shit seriously. I highly recommend you do it. Hit up Franklin’s BBQ in Austin Tx where they have the best brisket on planet earth and go across the street to another BBQ joint that is also rated in the top 5 on a weekday as well and then hit up this place on the weekend. You’re gonna have to wake up super early and stand in line for hours because it gets busy and people wait outside for hours. Like I said when it comes to BBQ the south don’t play but Texas is just on another level
If you ever decide to, Huntsville Texas has 2 amazing BBQ places in it. Holy Smokes (ranked #24 in the state) and Bennie J's Smokepit (the absolute best BBQ I've ever had in my life) are both with a visit :)
I love how they're busy but they don't rush or give attitude to the customers. Most places when they're super slammed they get annoyed and rude but these guys always keep a calm composure throughout. Great work to you as well Alvin, you're fucking amazing bro.
Having worked in food service before, both cooking and with customers, yeah you get those smashed busy times where you cant 'think', you just hit auto pilot mode. Sadly some people have a nasty auto pilot, and likely should find another line of work that has a little less speed and stress.
Considering they're only open for three days and they have that Texan hospitality. If you were in that position where you only serve customers three days a week and prep the other four. It's no wonder they're able to keep a calm attitude with customers
These people seem so genuinely content/happy with their relationships with each other and the work that they do. You can tell they’re all there for each other as well as each of their own little segments of the craft that combines into making this place great and I can see thusly why it’s ranked number 1. They’re all proud of having achieved that status and care and are so appreciative of not only their customers, but of each other as well. I wish that I myself could feel literally just a mere fragment of what they’ve got going on there/in their lives. Any of you guys reading this ever feel like what you do is meaningless and you’ll never find what they’ve found?
@@AssistanceCS on the contrary, they actually don't look that happy lol, its work. made to look happy? nah. if anything, they look tired and bored/robotic, it's always going to be a routine. lol.
Man, I'm not going to lie in this review. I really thought that I was watching a live action, well thought out production by a high-end company. The fact that this was just done by an individual is INCREDIBLE, and you have earned my subscription. Please keep up the great work!
Check out his main channel. Great stuff there too. Love his "72 hour beef wellington" video. A stressful recipe and process but totally undercut by a presentation that is incredibly relaxing.

In September 2022 hurricane Ian hit my town (Fort Myers, FL) and we evacuated to my aunts house a cpl hrs away. While we were there me n my Dad came across this documentary and we both really loved the story. My dad loves good bbq restaurants and has traveled to a lot of different ones all over our state . The next month October 2022 while our town was rebuilding, i got a new job with a $3000 sign-on bonus. I told my mom for Xmas, as one of my dads gifts, I'm using that bonus money to fly me n my dad to Goldees bbq in March for his birthday. One month later on Nov 22, 2022 my father died unexpectedly. It crushed me. But I still took the trip in March 2023 to honor his memory n celebrate his birthday. I brought one of my best friends who my dad really liked in his place. We got there at 6am and we were number 9 n 10 in line. Best bbq I've ever had! It's painful to watch this video but it also reminds me of my friend who got to experience waiting in the cold for 5 hours for BBQ with me lol. This year, on the same day from last year, me and that same friend went to one of our local barbecue restaurants we like here and had lunch in his memory and in memory of the trip we took. I love n miss you Dad and I'm sorry you didn't get to experience the #1 BBQ in Texas. Thank you Goldees and Alvin for making this unforgettable documentary ❤️🙏🏻
I love their relationship. Different ethnicities, personalities and at the end of the day it's all love, friendship. The way this world should be daily.
I clicked on the video because I wondered what the #1 BBQ pit in Texas would look like and i left with such respect for not only these cooks but how much love and time you put in this video. Felt like i was on a Disney ride. Keep up the hard work 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Well it's cooling off a little now due to Fall. The State Fair has come n' gone, Cooler weather needs some good hearty hot meat to warm up your insides. Texas Barbecue (written: bbq). Who's bbq is the best in Texas? Ok, that's like asking someone, "who's the best Momma in Texas?" Somebody's gonna fight. You always gonna go with what you know, trust, and frequent. In my experience if the bbq joint is a Black owned, and Black operated bbq, you really do need to stop and try it out. Serious! You'll kick yourself in ya' butt if you don't. Brisket is king in Texas, yes. Ribs (both beef and pork) are the close second, & depending on where you're at in Texas also determines bbq preferences. Chicken, & Turkey legs, links, & sausages, Hell, I saw a sign on a joint close to Houston advertising: Try our NEW "Bbq fish filets." (crickets chirping), with "fresh" bbq bologna. Oh sweet Lord, no wonder Houston folks got that certain "glow" all over 'em (I'm from Dallas, we look normal). South Texas bbq has a more Tex-Mex selection; barbacoa, lengua, cabrito, and some are starting to sell Borrego Asadito (lamb). South Texas bbq's also serve the onion, and jalapeno peppers, only now they are grilled, and have a delicious sweet flavor. Then, here comes all the fancy stuff: many accoutremonts, deserts (i.e. bananna pudding), sauces (true, Texas bbq don't need no freaking' sauce, ya' damned yankees), sides, and Texas style sweet tea. People ask, why do Texas bbq's always serve sour dill pickles, yellow onion slices, and jalapeno peppers along with the bbq? It's Traditional. Your tounge, and taste buds get so overwhelmed by the richness, and smoked flavors that you need a little acidic bite to freshen your palate. Hope all those that have not yet visited Texas, will consider stopping at a bbq joint if they find themselves in The Lone Star State. Stay away from chain restaurants. Here, even the bad bbq, is good & filling, and makes ya' burp really satisfying. See ya'll soon!
@@stevenserna910 i think people sould try lots of different bbq. I cant tell you one is the best. I can tell you that no new kid on the block is king of bbq in Texas. I know some of the hill country pits are 50 plus years old. Thats a lot of time to master your trade 🤠🇺🇲👍
A diverse group of friends with different backgrounds, different taste buds, different skills, learning from each other, but one love for making great tasting bbq. I think that's why they won the award with their differences coming together for the love of bbq and making it work like a loving family, that's freaken America right there!
My dad was a top editor for this magazine, and since we got to know what the list was before anyone, we got to visist some of them before there were 50+ people lines. We went to Interstellar, #2, and oh man was it good. I can only imagine how good Goldee's is
I’m not an American but to me this looks like the American dream to all of those friends and the story told with how this film was out together was incredible!
Glad you can see that in these young people and their opportunity. It is all about having the chance, being your best, competing with the best and providing value to your fellow man. Come visit us in the USA!!
Not only does the food look heavenly, this week-long prep while hanging out with the gang looks and feels like a religious experience I wish I was part of. Stellar filmmaking dude, absolutely amazing
Especially multi, colors of people work together with the same mindset. Folks, this is the ideal of what America stands for. Today is very difficult to find people like this with "hard work, teamwork, multi-culture and colors (example, the guy name Zain 4:55 destine from Arabic origin and an Asian guy at 5:58).
Everyone was laid back and friendly, but also professional. Not only would I love to try out their BBQ, I'd be happy to have a beer with this team. Can see why they reached #1 👍
They're better than a thousand academic lectures on how humans get along and cooperate to make something good in the world. What a friendly, motivated place!
Just got back from Goldee’s. Watching Alvin’s masterpiece of a documentary made me want to get up at 7AM on a weekend and drive 30 minutes to wait in line for 3 hours just for food… Worth. The. Wait. What those guys (and girls) are doing over there is insane and the care they take of their product is no joke. I’ve had a lot of brisket but this one blew me away with when I tried a piece of the burnt ends while waiting in line. I will be back!
As a Londoner born and bred I can confidently say that good BBQ is not very available. I stumbled across this video and watched it with my wife. You are obviously brilliant at what you do and your success is due to the incredibly hard work that you put into everything you do. My father told me when I was a young man that there are two things you need to love in life , your partner and your work. We found it emotional when you said that you had all been friends since you were very young. You have created not only a look into your success in business, but you have given inspiring to anybody who watches, whatever their choice of career. I would love to come to Texas to shake your hands and taste your food. God bless you all, and may you continue to succeed. Kind regards, Les and Anne xxx
Fantastic words! As a born and bred American, we would love to have you! And despite what you see on the news or read about Americans, this is was most people in the states are like. People of all races living and working together. Especially in the southern states.

@@lesroberts3226 it’s funny that you say that. I have a friend that was stationed at Lakenheath AFB for 5 years. I went over twice and spent a total of two weeks there. After growing up on Anthony Bourdain, I have to say I'm very pleased that despite his passing, the ethos of food television, journalism, documentary.... whatever you want to call it, is headed in a similar direction to what he taught us it could. The people doing the cooking, the amount of attention, love, and force of will that chefs work with, every single day to make something that quickly disappears (literally) down inside of us; that is what it's all about. There's no greater way to appreciate food other than eating it yourself. Pretty great job for a debut film. Wholesome as hell. And please keep channeling the experience of watching a good anime crier when you arrange the soundtracks.

I can't remember watching a more enjoyable story in my 69 years of living. The humility of a restaurant striving to please their cliental, the cooperation of a staff all working together to "dish-up" the best food ever to grace a human's palate this side of Heaven, just makes me want to hop in my car and drive to Kennedale! The shared camaraderie of the staff is amazing. It is like they all have the same goal in mind - to serve the best food in Texas. The music, the story-line, the video sections pieced together made me feel like I was a part of this family. To me, that is a way of life in Texas; we are family. We have our differences, squabbles, own opinions, but when it comes to Bar-B-Q or Bar-Be-Que or Barbeque, we all agree, TEXAS has the best. Great presentation! Heartwarming story! Undoubtedly some of the best food ever! Hope to make it there soon. I'll be in the white SRX camped out Thursday night at the front door.
Just watched this, and for some reason it hit me emotionally. The young girl pitmaster had tremendous work ethic and seems so humble….her smile, her sincerity….she had a charm about her. As a Dane, living in the cold northeren parts of Europe - I absolutely love watching a video like this. There's so much atmosphere and vibe in the video. And my word - the inspiration is just second to none! Dude I'm hungry now!
Not once did anyone say the word family and yet they give off huge family vibes. They're like the Fast & Furious family of the BBQ world. And they're all so different, like a casting director chose the perfect group of people.
Which is ten times better than companies which say "we're like a family!" but treat their employees like crap. Maybe 'cause they came from dysfunctional families, who knows.
They look different, that's it. They're extremely similar people tho, hence why they been friends so long. Most real friendship groups look just like that.
After watching Alvin’s other videos on 2 day cookies, 100 day lasagna and all of that I’m really happy to see him filming and editing again. I love his style and I wish him the best with what is a promising career
100 day lasagna you say...? Please, tell me more! It looks like this is the only video on Alvin's channel. Edit: Ohhh, Alvin had another channel before this one, and it was a 100 HOUR lasagna. Still impressive, though!
Man the ending really got to me. You can definitely tell she’s all about her team but will ultimately have to decide whether to leave or not. My upmost respect for these cooks and owners. Work day in and day out to provide the very best bbq for the community!
Good stuff. Totally the way it is and SHOULD be in any craft. Learn from those around you, work hard enough to separate yourself from the crowd and eventually hang your shingle with your name on it. No student loan debt required!
There is more to running a restaurant than cooking. People do not realize that. Supplies, employees, business aspects, etc. Best restaurants are a good restauranteur plus a good cook. Often good cooks fail when they open their own restaurant. E abuse they are too busy cooking and neglect (and do not know enough about) the rest. But not always.
She’s a cutie but the boasting I did not enjoy.. That was a team effort through and through. They created an atmosphere that created success. Being trained and recognized and given a very important position is truly something. Starting from the ground up. Demanding part ownership after that? That just left a bad taste in my mouth. Sweat equity… I get it. Taking an opportunity from people to help better yourself and becoming a key aspect of the team and in exchange giving an ultimatum? So long as she was getting paid her worth I’d have another person being trained on briskets the very next day. I’m sorry maybe that’s just me.
As a teenager I fell in love with filmmaking. The way you can express emotions and tell a story through the use of cameras and lighting intrigued me so much and I always wanted to learn more. I ended up working in Visual effects on some blockbuster Hollywood films, and even picked up an Oscar for one of those projects. But with time I've lost track of what got me into this business. Seeing this video, Alvin, has brought me back to the level of pure awe and amazement I had when I was growing up trying to understand how to use this medium to tell stories. The level of mastery and control of all your tools-- Wow. I don't know what to say other than... Wow. Thank you for making this and allowing these people to share their passion and story through your own art.
Something incredible beautiful with people from all the different backgrounds coming together being one. Loving each others company, excelling and treating eacother as the equals they are.
The cinematography on this is pristine Alvin, great work. you can honestly see the time that went into this video, for everyone in it. The storytelling, the scenes, the carefully thought out standstill areas, the uniform color distribution, and the smooth editing, in conclusion, amazing amazing work!
There's a cafe in my area that doesn't open weekends, but only Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 3:00 pm. I thought they were crazy as cafes are busiest on weekend mornings, but they are absolutely flat out during the week. They charge $7 for a coffee and $18 for a bacon, egg and tomato chutney wrap but they're hot commodities. Success will inevitably come if your product is top tier.
That means nobody is showing up except weekends. A real test is if they were packed on a Tuesday afternoon. Maybe its how things work in your shithole country.
@@Nitrous_Busa If you can't figure out that they meant small business and they're not making a comparison to multibillion dollar corporations that dominate entire industries and have boundless economies of scale and scope, then you probably shouldn't be commenting.
I've watched a lot of similar videos but this one was the most natural, organic and emotional I've seen. You captured the true spirit and vibe of this place and it made watching this video effortless. Such a great story and such great 'cast' and the end product looks truly amazing. Well done Alvin and well done Goldees
I got the privilege of eating at goldees a few weeks ago for first time. Jalen was running the counter and gave me a sample of the best brisket I've ever tasted in my entire life. I flew from Florida to Dallas and my biggest reason for visiting Texas was to go to Goldees. Got in line Sunday morning at about 9:30 am and was probably the 50th or so spot and I’d say by open time there was a good 200 people. I got a 1/2 pound of Brisket, 1/2 pound of pork ribs, sausage link, coleslaw, and banana pudding that blew me away but all the food was incredible! Clear off your schedule for the rest of the day cause you won’t wanna do anything. I’m a bbq snob and make pretty good bbq myself. Food was worth the wait, met good people in line, enjoyed the oak aroma outside, and I enjoyed meeting the staff who all seemed excited to serve everyone! Just all around good vibes. I’ll be back again!
Watched this with my teenage son, he asked why I had tear in my eye. Just amazing to see a bunch of friends get together and make a dream happen and see it go number 1. She's worked there 6 months and believes she deserves ownership, but since she isn't being offered that she is going to start her own restaurant. That's her choice but she hasn't even worked there long enough to know the other processes or the business side of it. She isn't brave and isn't showing commitment, she's really showing entitlement.

You know, at the beginning of the video they looked like what you might think would be just the typical hourly-paid hired help, the young people paid to man the service counters, not necessarily what you think of when you think of great small town Texas barbecue pitmasters. But it is the personal backstory starting at 11:04, of how they "all knew each other in elementary" that really makes you want to cheer for them. For a bunch of young life-long friends who have worked hard, taken a chance on themselves, and excelled together - now That's the story! Being ranked #1 in Texas by Texas Monthly, well that's just the rendered fat glazing on the brisket. Much continued success to this great group of young people - let's just hope newfound fame and fortune doesn't go to their heads and ruin their life-long friendships. (Also hope they all have an ownership stake - that's the American Dream for entrepreneurs! Risk much - Work hard - Enjoy the fruits of your labor.)
Yes! I'm a native Texan living in San Marcos. I'm smack dab in the middle of some of the best bbq around. But this video is more than bbq like you said.
Hands down, this is the best documentary I've seen on BBQ. These folks put their heart and soul into their product, no wonder why they sell out of food at times. Would love to visit this place one day
Agreed, I just woke up and this was the first thing I saw and I didn't feel like I was watching a 30 minute youtube video I was just captivated in everything and before I knew it the video was over.
I have been a cook for many years but I never knew how much hard work went into BBQ restaurants. Hats off to this crew and I salute you and your team for such a great insight into the production of what goes on. My Admiration goes out to all of you.
I love putting in the work the night before a BBQ at my home. Waking up at 1 am to get the fire started and the pit warmed up. To get the brisket on and smoking by 2 to 2:30 for an evening meal. Sitting in the heat of the sun tending the fire to get just the right color of smoke out of the stack. While everyone else is in the pool, or playing corn hole. Then when the ladies tell you they generally don't like brisket but you've seen them at the cutting board grabbing 2 or 3 more slices. Non commercialized BBQ is a labor of love.
This is a spectacular doc! Ive been in the kitchen industry for almost 6 years now and worked many a restaurants all different styles...these folk got it RIGHT! It all starts with the synergy between all of them...when it all connects it doesnt even feel like you're working... Hope for continued success and hope to make my way there some day! All love!
I loved how you captured the inner-workings of their friendship and passion for what they do. It was beautifully filmed and definitely looked like you put tons of effort into the whole film. This was such a wholesome story thank you for sharing to the world.
Those last few shots with Chuck at the end and the lovely piano in the background almost made me tear up. These guys genuinely deserve all the love and praise they receive, definitely making the trip all the way from England one day for sure!
My father in law would be proud to see these young people take great pride in making food with the most important ingredient, Love, the way he did God rest his soul. Thank you! You’ve brought tears to my 62 year old eyes
The first thing I got from this was how genuinely happy all of them are, that translates into the food, the second thing was how much dedication this takes, theres no short cuts here and boy does their food look amazing *
Alvin, dude, this documentary is absolutely amazing. The insane amount of love Goldee's puts into their Q is perfectly matched by the love you put into this video. If some streaming service doesn't offer you a series for this kind of thing, it's their loss.
Excellent production and editing. I feel like I know the people at Goldee's now and that takes a lot of talent to convey them properly to your audience. BBQ is an American icon and full of bold characters. You have me ready to gas up and head to Texas to see this place. I live in the Ozarks and KC BBQ is king, but seeing the folks from TX do well makes me happy. Offset cookers, low and slow, that's where the magic is.
I live in the KC area and KC does BBQ right. My favorite BBQ is LC’s BBQ in kcmo. Next time you’re up there you should give it a try. I’d say it’s kind of a hidden gem since most people tend to go to Gates or Joe’s. But I for sure want to try some texas BBQ now
@@thefinishbeast5430 gates is very overrated. It’s like the Burger King of BBQ. Joes is always good to take out of town visitors too and I LOVE their sauce. They’re good don’t get me wrong, but for sure not the best. But then again everyone has their own opinion
I watched the video where the Brits tried this place. Each of them even their camera crew - when they tried a bite their eyes widened to this point and no words needed - you knew it was amazing.
The videography of this is amazing! I came for the BBQ and stayed for the storytelling. You feel like you are there with them on their journey. These hard workers are Olympians at what they do. And just like them, you are going places.
So hype for Alvin that this video blew up like it did. He'll be able to point any restaurant in the world to videos like this, and I'm sure after this they'd all be happy to have him. Huge props.

Watching this I was thinking "why are you so emotional about it?" Then I remembered, I love meat, I love fire and of course I love cooking with all my soul. That was an amazing video. I'm sure everyone can appreciate the business, the owners, and the food but you have to appreciate the cinematographic artistry. Well done all the way around. 👏👏👏
I love that even though they are competitors, the bbq places support and learn from each other. It’s a healthy competition where everything gets better, and the food becomes best
As a BBQ cook who recently took the leap to start my own business/popup, this left me emotional and with tears in my eyes... The good kind. Amazing cinematography and soundtrack, Alvin. Really brought me into the story. Nothing but love for the Goldee's crew. You've left Ghost Smoke BBQ with even more inspiration to bring Texas style BBQ to Ocean Beach, San Francisco. Outer Sunset 4 Lyfe.
You're a legend man, the production is top notch! :D
Ayo, this guy watched Chef
My name's Chef. Have you watched the movie Chef?

As an accountant just imagine the office except less ridiculous except for clients. Clients are ridiculous.
Couldn't have said it better. Great job by all. Congrats to the team at Goldee's. Also, superb filming.
I like how she's comfortable enough to be straight up about wanting her own restaurant. This shows the owners don't have big enough egos to want to supress that desire and have confidence they can fill her role.
Right. She also put it out there about the ownership thing.😏
Chuck is Awesome!!
Led me to think
You can tell the reason they’re so successful isn’t necessarily because of the food, it’s because they love the food they cook. They take an insane amount of pride in it. They love the process and every step it takes to get there. And the most important is they love each other.
Well said. 💚
It's because they love the food they cook that the food is the caliber it is.
They put their soul into the food😌
Adding to that, how often do you see on one of these restaurant rehab shows where the owners of the restaurant are actually evaluating their own food like this place (21:34)? That scene alone shows the care they're putting into their craft.
OK kiddo
i’m not crying over a bbq documentary, you are
Honestly if a person watches that and they aren't deeply affected by it I worry about them.
As a BBQ lover, this film was so captivating. The cinematography was awesome. The guys at Goldee's seem like such a chill group, no egos at all. Great to see and hear their story.
As a youtbe watcher, this video shows why the USA is full of morbid obese people.

They are a great example of what I want my children to be like when they grow up. Passionate, hard working, successful, and humble.
right? I was so surprised, no ego, just making the best food they can
wtf would any of them have an ego for?
Nah...
Yah....🙄
Yea, but they forgot the Smoking weed scenes, and all the cursing that goes on behind the scenes! lol
It's pretty common knowledge that most restaurants fail

I don't know what it was but this actually made me emotional thinking about back in the day working in a restaurant. Looking back at it you don't remember the early mornings, feeling exhausted or the anxiety involved with a busy service. Hit up Franklin’s BBQ in Austin Tx where they have the best brisket on planet earth and go across the street to another BBQ joint that is also rated in the top 5 on a weekday as well and then hit up this place on the weekend.
Agree. Another reason they’re number 1. For the BBQ AND the experience they create.

If she's good enough to handle the briskets and beef ribs, she can definitely run her own restaurant. Managing that fire like A CHAMP
Got me to man, heart felt moment.
THE FACT THEY’RE ALL YOUNG MAKES ME PROUD AND GIVES ME SHIVERS!! I love hard working people like them.. God bless each and every one of you ❤️🙏

You know a business is successful when they only have to "open" for 3 days a week.
So Amazon isn’t successful because it’s open 24/7? Huge difference in “successful”

I started watching this video because one I’m from Texas, two I love BBQ and three to brag about Texas to my coworkers but as I watched this I was in aw on how well y’all showed the world what hard work, friendships and believing in something is what matters. Great group of hard working Texans y’all are in my book the best because of who y’all are and how you represent Texas….
Great example of why Texas has become the #1 state.
But Texas is an "At-Will" state. My livelihood is at stake everyday if I were to work there.

@@MB-go6uy I would lose my mind and my shape😅 I would probably ended up working there to be honest😄
@@Hyogasaint Theres no way in hell I could work there. I would be fired first day. I mean I'm being dead serious. I would not be able to NOT take bites of all that meat I was cutting up after it was done.
@@MB-go6uy Oh...I would definetly take bites of all that. I'll need that writed in the contract though😅
Choked me up as well.
I love it! A bunch of childhood friend grinding together to make a business successful and having fun in the process. I definitely will be stopping here on my next trip through Texas 🙌🏾
I love the story and vibe of these guys. What a pleasure to see this Alvin, thank you for sharing this.
Chefpk when you gonna go there irl and rate their food?
Anyone else seen this video more than 5 times? I swear i keep coming back to this
