I'm a little bit of a luddite when it comes to mobile technology etc , I bought the Sony Xperia 1 original model when it first came out (2019) and although its nearly the end of 2023 , I still use it as a daily , battery is less than yours but still gets me through the day . Speed still great , sometimes its noticeable that it's slower ,but its rare . I use it literally for everything , banking etc . And its probably the longest I've held on to a mobile phone 5 yrs plus . Android 11 is the last system update , and yeah security updates are no more . But everything still seems fine. I'm reluctant to change makes , I've had most of the android phone's manufacturers , but fine Sony Android skin more user friendly . I'd like to see Sony give longer duration of updates especially security , If other manufacturers can , Sony should given the price of Xperia phones . Would i change to iPhones ? Unlikely , I've used iphone in the past and to me it's a bit vanilla . I found windows 10 mobile to be good although thats dead now , and blackberry 10 in my eyes was far superior to android alas thats gone too . A shame as it really did show up android in ways and for me rivil iphone . Blackberry Passport was great for spreadsheets if a little weird ( i loved it ) Blackberry android was improving but sadly it was killed off . Sony Xperia 1 v or hold off for a 1 vi probably i like the Sony experience and am determined to hold on to my Xperia 1 for as long as possible . Good reviews you do of older mobiles and tech that have been classed as obsolete , 👏👏
I use the video in basic mode almost always in 1080p 30fps, i notices this had the best night video, can also still slide the exposure slider all the way to high so its even more bright. im still experimenting with raw shooting in the photopro app when using the automode, it seems to use the nightmode of the camera then within raw, and i want to experiment then with rawtherapee what i can make from it on the pc. still an amazing phone. even at night it does make wonderful photo's
I like the tall display, but I do understand that it might be a bit too tall for some. And fitting my xperia 1 in my pocket is also a bit more annoying because of the long form factor
Replying on my 1 II. Had been wondering if anyone would do a mark II review in 2023, nice one! Mine is still working fine except the battery, full charged power can drain to 60% and shut down within an hour, unfortunately they've stopped making battery for this model.
The 4K screen was put there for professional photographers and videographers who will use it an a second screen for their main camera, with the best colour accuracy.
I will upgrade to an xperia 1 iv soon, but I'm convinced that I'll notice few if not any differences between my 1ii and the 1 iv aside from maybe a brighter screen and slightly longer battery life. The 1 ii is incredibly fast, gorgeous and it has a no-nonsense feel to it. It's a chique little machine and I like the fact that the next generations will look the same. If sony keeps up with this philosophy, then I'll stay with this brand.
Nice! The smooth zoom and 4k 120fps, better front facing camera are nice features that the 1iv has over the 1ii. But like you said: In day to day usage it probably won't be a massive difference in terms of performance
The fact that I can control the camera the same way I do with my DSLR or mirrorless was the reason I bought it. It's also the first smartphone I own that can shoot RAW. I can post-process using lightroom! How cool is that? Thanks for your review, I just subscribed.
hi im plannig to get this phone to learn video and photography are the camera and video app relevant to the latest version? and what does it missing? or should i get the 1iii one?
There are some differences between the apps from the 1 II to the 1 V, but sadly they don't update it for older models. I can't list all the differences because I don't have both of them. But things like improved basic mode in photography pro is something that the 1 II doesn't have. But that doesn't mean the 1 II is bad. I've heard that the later 1 III has more overheating issues according to others online.
@@ImportantTech Thanks for the reply. I am planning to get one as a backup device. I just worried that I may have to deal with a broken fingerprint sensor.
It does work, but switching between lenses is slow. It also doesn't always work correctly / feels buggy. I honestly prefer the stock camera app over gcam on this 1 II.
Sadly not. I think that is because the hardware wasn't optimized for that feature. Also 4K 120fps on all the lenses is not supported, but it is supported on the main lens.
@@ImportantTech yeah but i do think its a software problem. Cause when i make a video in instagram i can easely switch to selfie video while making the video. So weird but its probably just all possible. Hopefully they will do it in some future phones. Seemless zoom in New phones is nice but why leave the selfie camera out of that. 🥲
If you don't mind that the update support has stopped, can find one for a good price and don't need the latest and greatest, then this can still be a good option.
Generally Sony tune their cameras for real life accuracy. The auto mode is designed to give overall nice photos but with minimal processing. For absolute control use the manual mode, which should help with the shadows. Night photography sucks because as I said they are doing minimal processing. They expect you as the user to know when there is enough light to get a good shot. Or you produce a light source to get the shot. But they don't like to do all the processing other phones do, which make night like day.
would agree with you on the battery part. my biggest issue with it is network, Wi-Fi drops to 2bars as soon as you exit the room, while my Samsung s8 still has full bars. mobile network is another major downside, inside the house LTE drops by half bars, I don't face this issue with my S8. I still love the phone but they're just giving me reasons to jump ship to OnePlus.

The big issue of this phone for me is how long it is, don't know why they thought it was a good idea to make it long, it's a good phone though

Great to have the speakers wider apart for musick,movies,videos.etc.
I like the aspect ratio. It's long but it don't dig into my thighs when I keep it my pocket like my Note 20 ultra
The reason i switched to 5 series

Have you encountered issues with the fingerprint sensor? I've been reading some complaints about it stopping working and not being detected.
Like I said in the video sometimes it doesn't work for me.
But it never fully stopped working. But sometimes it doesn't recognise me

Sony Xperia 1iii
I miss this phone. Got the SGS24U. And its too big, and has android issues

I like the phone but disappointed with the camera
I found this phone on Facebook market for 300 great condition is it still worth it?
I think 300 is a bit too expensive

Samsung s20 plus or sony xperia x ii
Sony

What do you think of its dynamic vibration when watching series/movies or listening to music?
It's an interesting feature, but not the main reason to buy it.
Sometimes it makes it better, sometimes worse. I noticed I almost never used it.
@@ImportantTech I would like to use it when watching a movie or playing a racing game, it must be a good experience...

Sadly it doesn't have reverse Wireless charging

Can you zoom in and out (to ultrawide and telephoto) while recording a video?
Sadly not. Only the 1 mark 4 and up has that
