    Good review. I have an Elksmaker Laser Engraver and one big problem I had was the limited "print" area. I think that is even a bigger drawback on this system than the software, and it had a 300 x 400 mm area. I was able to enlarge it to 900x 400 by changing the extrusions. Once you get started with laser engravers you tend to get into signs or other larger projects.

      I have the Eleksmaker A3 pro 2.5 w and I love it! T2Laser software FTW!!! My favorite medium is glass painted black, engraved, and then backed with white paper. :)

      @@KarrMcDebt I also purchased the T2software and was very impressed with it. I have not used it in over a year, since I discovered 3D printing. I found I can do so much more by adding plastic on top of plastic, than I could by removing material by burning.

    Hey man so do I need to take the laser off to go back to 3D printing? Or can I leave it on? Do I only have to take it back off to use the BL touch again? Why the heck can they not make it so I don't have to chose one over the other.

    The laser module is basically an off-shelf generic laser module which is pulled to ground to turn on, most controller boards work the other way around where 0V is off and PWM to 5V is on, this could simply be fixed by making one transistor not gate with a (3904 or any other NPN transistor) and two resistors hooked up between the controller and the lasers TTL board.

      How do you know how this laser is operating? You have one and have looked over the circuitry?

    • @patprop74
      @patprop74 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@timmturner I bought a few China laser made modules before lol if that answers your question, and for some reason, most of them favour high to be the off state and pulled to ground for firing. and clearly, this is the case here if the lower the number the stronger is the output, wouldn't you agree? They do the same things with those K40 laser cutters also.

    1. The red lenses and green lenses are not the same. You can still see blue light through the green lenses, even at low power, which means they are NOT adequately protecting you.
    You can not see the blue light at all through the red lenses, even at full power, so we can assume that they are offering a minimum of protection. Despite all that, neither set of glasses are actually acceptable in a professional environment. For real safety, buy something that has a verifiable OD rating of a minimum of 3. You have it 100% right about using an enclosure. The reflected laser light does not harm webcams.
    2. WOW, you mean there is no "low power mode" to focus the laser!!!!! This is a deal-breaker right there. There is no reason you should be trying to focus a full power beam.
    I bought and assembled an Eleksmaker A3 Pro with a 2.5 w laser from China that puts the Shark laser to SHAME!!!!
    T2Laser software FTW!!!!
    Thank you Chris for verifying that I don't want ANYTHING to do with this machine.

    • @ChrisRiley
      @ChrisRiley  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good to know on the glasses. Yes, there firmware/software needs some work on the laser side.

    • @patprop74
      @patprop74 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For 1. Actually, it's not if you can see the light or not, you can have Clear Lenses AKA GLASSES and see the light and still be protected, It has all to do with the material and thickness to which the laser can no longer burn throw that is the protection, the different colour glasses are simply a marketing factor to help consumers know which wavelength any given product protects from.

      No, you just made an inaccurate statement about how laser safety lenses work. Red lenses block blue light better than green, plain and simple.
