    We hunters usually guilty of over kill..... just keep it inside 100 yards . You should be able to shoot quarter size groups easily that far with 223.
    Meaning you should be able to hit a deer in the eye 👁 at 100 yards....
    that being said
    It will smoke 💨 a deer with a double Lung shot.
    Iv never had an issue with 223 for deer it’s plenty....... people who disagree probably haven’t seen it 1st hand or aren’t confident in shot placement.

    I killed a deer using 75gr PPU match ammo. The first shot was 200yds. It fell and got up and ran toward me. I fired a second shot at about 125yds and hit it on the run. Both bullets went clean through and made pretty good exit wounds to track by. Didn't have to track it much. It fell in the tree line and expired. My first shot went through the shoulder and the second hit the back and came out a ham.

    I shot a 8 point buck with my new ruger American 5.56 on Monday night. I used a fusion 62 grain .223 on it. It didn't go far before it dropped.

    I've killed quite a few deer with my 223 rifles. I would highly recommend the Fusion MSR 223 62 gr ammo or equally the Speer Gold Tip 75gr or 62gr. All of these are bonded bullets and yet expand very well. Better than your Win xp loads. which are not a bonded bullets..

      The Fusion 62gr is what I use as well. It's a fantastic cartridge for deer and hogs!

      Dude same here I killed a decent sized mule deer buck with those same rounds and I aimed for the shoulder. I double tapped with my Ar15 since it was under 100 yards and I have a good muzzle brake on the rifle.

    Just ask my father in law if .223 is big enough for whitetail... He smoked a BIG doe last year and she only went maybe 30 yards... 64 grain soft point... Her lungs looked just like you would hit one with a 308

    what are the hunting laws in your state. some states dont allow big game hunting with 223. not saying it wont kill a deer a .22lr will kill a deer if your shot placement is right.

    If you support handgun hunting but not hunting with an AR you are clueless on ballistics.

    Love to see a ballistics comparison, 223 vs. 5.56. I can shoot both through my AR and only stock 223 if I can't find 5.56. Never thought of using my AR for hunting, now I will.

    • @GunTradition
      @GunTradition  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That's a very simple comparison. Usually, if you shoot both in a 5.56 chamber, the 223 is about 100fps slower with comparable ammo. The difference is a bit less accurate,(we're talking 1/2 moa or so), a tad less practical distance, and a tiny bit more wind play. But all that is too small a difference for most people to notice. The bigger difference is that the 5.56 chamber can more easily fit longer bullets like the 70-80 grain range. Those bullets are slower, but more aerodynamic so they actually have more energy and less wind play past 250 yards. Come to think of it, that might make a good video.

    PPU often use Sierra bullets - says what they use on the back of the box (308 match) - not sure of the 223 but you can check

    • @GunTradition

      They do use Sierra bullets on their match ammo, but I think they make their own bullets for the normal stuff.

    I have a question: I bought a thermal scope, but the recoil for this devise is limited by 308, and I have a 30-06 and 223, but scope is not new, used and no warranty. I plan to use it on moose thise fall season. The range is under 100 yards, and I think to make neck shot from 223, fmg or sp to use?

    • @GunTradition
      @GunTradition  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure where you are, but everywhere I know of, it's illegal to shoot moose with a 223. I would never do it even with neck shot.

      Hi, Jordan
      I'm hunting Vologda region, Russia . There is no restriction concerning moose or hog, we have limitation in small game, not more than 5.6 mm (223) for hare, fox, and 22lr for birds.
