So after a lot of research, i went the hilux. Mainly for reliability and after sale service, my brother works at Toyota. They still replace n70 motors under warranty, even though they are well out of warranty. The Ford looks good and ticks all boxes but everything will stop working in a few years. My mate got a raptor and his on his second diff and now his gear box is playing up with less then 20k his been months without a car and thats something i couldn't afford to do being a work car. Plus i got a good deal 68k for a brand new 2023 rogue 😊 ps the towing capacity is 3500kg
Toyota can only charge this much bc a lot of the market for Utes value reliability so much that they’re willing to pay obscene prices for a car that is factually dated and bang average
@@reelmm3311 this is a myth, do you think that a HiLux doesn't breakdown or needs repairs. The 2.8L Diesel has had its problems, there is a large class action against Toyota now. By the way, shouldn't be an extra charge for reliability.
I’ve done 50,000 in my 21 Hilux, 90% Highway driving and it’s never done under 10L/100kms. Your Raptor review was awesome. If the Raptor did less than 13L/100km on the same driving, and it sounds like it does, that is fricken impressive!
Had my Rogue for a month now and only drove around town so far with 70kph being my max speed and I'm getting 8.9L/100km. Can only imagine on the highway it will be better like every other car
I wonder why Australians prefer the Toyota Hilux family over the American Toyota Tundra Tacoma , I noticed TH-cam clips of Australians fixing cars. Most of them are Toyota Hilux
Yes I would pay more for the Hilux. I've owned two in the past and they have been exceptional .Only sold my last one as it was 18 years old and px for a brand new Great wall I had a good deal on . Nothing wrong with the Great Wall just stopped selling them in the UK and the dealer stopped selling the service parts . If I win some cash the first thing I'm going to buy is a new Hilux. I don't need one as I'm retired but I just want one .
So pretty lacking on info. What size are the brakes? What type of callipers are used? What axle loads will rear axle load be exceeded when trailer added? Combine mass does towing two ton with a load exceed GCM? Would be good to have this info rather than the fluff stuff.
I used to have ford, after 2 years everything start falling a part. If you want more servicing time of your car than running on the road get Ford. 6 months is easy only to wait for parts. Ask any legitimate mechanic, if they recommend ford you’re lucky.😂
Lux, Latin for "light". Not luxury. The pricing of most new cars is pretty rude these days. Buyers need to vote with their feet but too many don't so sellers keep asking for too much. Kudos to the buyers of Chinese utes and the Triton is still better value but their prices are catching up as well as their quality.

Looks good with the extended track, but $70K.??.I'm in the market for a cheaper twin cab ute and just recently test drove the Ssangyong Musso in SWB and luxury pack. WOW! Incredibly comfortable, luxurious interior and good performance and at $44K drive away, a deposit was made then and there.

@@granthenderson687 Strange you say that mate, our company has had rangers since 2016 and almost every ute was dead at around 200k km. We have now switched back to hilux and haven't had any issue's at all.
Sorry, but it's not just this vehicle - and it's not even a new situation... Almost all 'leather' in anything less than premium brands, and their premium variants, uses a low percentage blend of leather fibres, blended with vinyl and other plastics. Genuine _leather hide_, has been very rare in cars for a couple of decades now. Also, what is sometimes labelled as P.U. leather, or leather-like, or 'leather style' (and more) is _entirely_ synthetic: vinyl with polyester fabric backing. Of course, this CarSauce clown either makes it up on the go, or parrots the makers' spin. Tbh, he's not really a guide on _any_ aspect of the test vehicles. 🙄
Yep..! 🙄 Combine those with the novelty front bumper, and side-steps, it all makes for more low height components to damage - and buy replacements of. 🤑
LOL - Good bye bad ass, love it, its freaking amazing vehicle for blah, boring, not even close to amazing. Who hoo! Wow! Can you get less impressive? Too funny! Can't wait to get my Ranger Raptor. You can park it next to your VW in your 70s home, I suppose. Pay more for old must be the motto.
Wider wheel track….rear disc brakes….out board shocks….hmmm sound familiar?? Coming next V6 engine, portrait infotainment system….rear side steps….10speed auto….sound familiar? Probably the reason it’s limited to 3000kg towing is because it only has 500Nm 😂😂 The most embarrassing thing is that they’re asking $80k for this 🤦♂️
Even more embarrassing is that there is no v6 engine coming. Gr hilux comes with the same crap 2.8 Diesel just uprated to 165kw. Ranger raptor leaves this thing for dead.
As said by others $80Grand another rip off by Toyota it does look good but no tail gate dampener & only 3 ton towing same cheap interior 🤔 ford will B laughing all the way to the bank 😎
1. It's a 3.3L twin-turbo diesel in the LC. 2. Toyota has a cleaner 3.5L turbo petrol in some markets, but Strayan emissions laws have a gaping hole - which lets makers sell us their more polluting variants. 3. Even in this very old Hilux generation, the 2.8L diesel is getting another 10% peak power boost, released in a few weeks.
Hmmm, I don't _think_ so,@@tarik567. I only read it a last week, via one of those regular car industry periodicals - CarsGuide or sumfink. Me thinks it'll be a 'top of the range' variant, and not just a freshened engine for the whole range. Toyota's more serious market competition product for Ford's Ranger Raptor: 165kW, 550(?)Nm + (you know the deal, by now... 😄) wider track, bigger tyres which are unsuited to expected 95% of urban driving, increased clearance, fancy brand dampers, stickers + badges + typically macho / Tonka / non-functional stuck-on plastic bits a-plenty...
Couple of pointers my good chaps. Tailgates are not 'light' per se.. they either have a torsion bar fitted or they don't. Then regarding the 'manual' shifts (at least for the auto Toyotas), that is just a shift range.. the computer is always going to decide when to shift up, all you can essentially do is tell it how many gears are at its disposal. That is all. Good vids btw and good humour 👍

Tiny little clown car, look at the back seat. I do think the price on this one is steep I don't see the value in it, but you can't go wrong with an SR5. Sure it may not have as much crap as some of the other makes, so what. The Chinese ute has everything there is why not run out and buy that? The Hilux will take everything you throw at it in it's stride without issue and then when it's time to sell you'll pay your loan out and put money in your pocket... so that's the reason you buy a Hilux
What’s the aftermarket support on those? Not fancy stuff, pads and rotors or other consumables. Only asking because all the Chinese brands (LDV, HAVAL etc) you can only get genuine pads and rotors and they cost a mint even at trade prices
Just like every chinese made ute the past 20yrs but they were all lucky to make it to 100,000kms without major rebuilds. This new crop will be no different
