Thank you for the nice comment 👍 No issues around town. I don’t do a lot of stop start traffic but I do a lot of less than 10 min drives. The DPF just starts it’s burn as soon as the vehicle is warmed up and can normally do a full burn with a few short trips. It may become a problem if you only do 5 minute trips where you would need to do a manual burn or just take it for a longer drive. No issues in stop start traffic though 🤙

Hey mate, new to the channel and honestly it’s refreshing seeing you review on points that most reviews overlook. You also talk about practicality here rather than what’s in as a trend currently and I think that’s so important for people looking for suggestions on what to buy these days. I enjoyed watching this as I have one coming in late Jan and this answered some of the questions other reviewers have missed. 👏 By the way, if you haven’t tried it already, the lane departure control is still pulsing the breaks. Unfortunate but until they change to an electronic steering rack, that won’t change. 😊
Billy, thank you for taking the time to write such a nice comment. My approach with this video was to make it for someone like me who likes to know all of the ins and outs of what they are buying. I feel like big review channels just focus on a few main points and use that as their point of comparison across various vehicles. I’m glad this video helped you and thank you for subscribing 👍 I was hoping they changed the brake correction in the lane departure assist but from what you have said I’m not surprised. The 2022 Prado has the same system. They really should change that. I hope you enjoy your new Rogue, but in the mean time, I’ll be making lots of rogue videos to get you excited until yours arrives 😊

It depends how much you value things like resale, reliability and part availability. If you are going out bush, go with the hilux. If you are going around town with the occasional trip out of the city, go with the ranger. Hi Mark, I've just ordered a new Hilux rogue myself and couldn't agree more with your comments regarding the offset of the wheels not filling the archs. I am thinking 40mm bolt on spacers all round to fill the guards and improve the stance. Have you considered this? What is biggest spacer I could go with stock wheels and tires without rubbing? Your input would be appreciated, keep up the good work.
First of all, congrats on the order for the rig. That’s a big move 👍 I wouldn’t do spacers as the wider that wheel pokes, the more rocks and dirt will be flicked up the car when off-roading. If you are doing light gravel travels and mostly highway kms, go for your life. Just remember, wheels spacers aren’t legal. A lower offset rim is a better choice and can be legal if done correctly (just check your insurance will cover). You could probably do a 25mm spacer (or rim offset equivalent) to fill out the guards. You’d probably still have a bit more room to play with for a wider tyre too 👍
Thanks for the Video! Just sold my 2021 SR5 Hilux to buy a new ute. Didn't consider the Rogue till I saw this video. Made me go against purchasing a D Max or Ranger. Went to the Tablelands and the dealers there had them on the shelf ready to supply. Thanks again for all the detailed clips.

Hi Mark. Enjoying your channel, picked up my Rogue last Wednesday in Oxide Bronze, absolutely love it. Chose the Rogue over the Ranger for all of the same reasons you did. Was lucky, our local dealer (Country NSW) had 2 come in, so no wait time. Even had a choice of colour!
Honestly even just keeping the same size and switching to a good A/T will beef up the look and still improve offroad performance. Size isn't everything 😆
Thanks mate. Congrats on the rig! What an exciting day!! Regarding the tyres, it's a difficult one as some blokes are running them fine but not all tyres are created equal. Hi Mark iam in the uk just found your channel what an enlightenment it is now I know I want a hilux, can't seem to get the rogue over here we get the invincible and the invincible x do you know if it's the same as the rogue or if there's any difrances, all the best billm.
Excellent question. I had this same one a few days ago. I believe your invincible lineup is similar to our rugged lineup where the trim is higher than a sr5 hilux and there are off-road geared equipment such as side steps etc. I will do some more digging. Thank you for the nice words. It’s always cool meeting people from different places even if it is through comments 😊
@NorthOz yes I think it was me I just have to know what's what with them would love the rogue but nobody got one for sale over here, so it looks like the invincible. billm.
I will have to look up the exact specs of the tires. But the payload of this ute is 854kg due to the new off-road suspension. Towing capacity is 3.5 tonnes. Thanks for the comment and for subscribing 👍
Hey Mark, I like the video. I guess you didn’t go for the JBL audio option as it wasn’t mentioned in your run through ? I am in the market for a new Hilux to upgrade my current 2017 SR5, and the rogue is on the top of my list, but as I want to do a GVM upgrade I will have to wait a while for one of the big companies to make one available pre rego. And I guess there won’t be any Bullbar’s available yet either due to the wider flares Cheers Scott
Hi Scott. I believe the JBL option is holding up production due to the whole electronic shortage thing so that’s why mine arrived quicker than others. So I didn’t get it optioned. To be honest, the speakers are fine. With the different suspension, you’d be looking at a different kit for sure but if you ask around, I’m sure there is some cross compatibility. Or you could always get the gvm upgrade later and get it engineered. Bullbars from the last Rogue would be too narrow so we’ll have to wait and see what is available if the manufacturers support it. For me, I’m keep the suspension stock and I don’t plan on doing a bullbar. But for you, it wouldn’t hurt to ring around to places like pedders, iron man, arb etc to see what they have in production. Thanks for subscribing and you have any more questions about the rogue, let me know 👍
@@NorthOz If was to order one I probably wouldn’t go with the JBL either, as I have just recently added A Full Apline system , Halo 11” Screen and Type R-Speakers to my Hilux I will remove it before sale. I have been into ARB just before X-Mas to ask, but they were no help, just nothing available yet for GVM upgrade, I guess I will have to ring a few others 👍🏻
Hi Mark, I have the exact Rogue model and the colour just pops, best Ute in the market but there are a lot of knockers, like you my last car was a Toyota ( Hilux SR5 extra cab also in red but in the super bright red. When I was looking at getting a new Hilux this time, there were many blokes saying that with the wait time, why don’t just get a ranger, but as you would know, that would be going backwards in my opinion. I just watched your review on the interior and exterior and thought this is the guy to follow, you shown me a thing or two that I hadn’t known about, so I’m going to keep watching and maybe get a few ideas from you. Keep up the good work
Thank you for the nice comment Michael. As you can imagine, I have a had quite a few unpleasant comments but the truth is, this is the best Ute on the market right now. I needed something new and reliable that can get me to work and also going very remote. Thank you for following what I’m doing here and I look forward to sharing more about this vehicle with you 👍
Hi mate, gotta ask do u think the back sets are too bumping during driving on free way with around 110 - 120 km/h? And what do you think the noise during that situations? I know this is a working hourse, but gotta know a real owner's think
Hi mate. I haven’t driven in the back but it is very quiet in there. You sit quite high up so not great for people over 6’3. It’s quiet and is fine for occasional additional passengers
Hey mate you’re probably all over it but with the snorkel, take the air filter out and make sure you block the hole that goes to the inner guard before you do any deep crossings. For some reason Hilux has two holes, one protected with a one way rubber grommet style but then the other is just a hole with no protection. I just wrote my 2019 hilux off in a water crossing due to it sucking water through the air box even though I had a snorkel. The water wasn’t even that deep but the bow wave made it into the engine bay and that was enough. I would also suggest raising the breathers if you plan on serious crossing. I’m now looking to upgrade to a rogue thanks to your video. 👍
Sorry to hear that mate. I’ll definitely look into that. Unfortunately, blocking it all the time could cause water to enter through the snorkel so a temporary crossing solution may be the go. Thanks for the heads up and for letting others know. Cheers for subscribing 👍
Good luck with the roller cover! I have a 2020 Hilux rogue and I have had constant problems with it for 2yrs. Warping on the plastic, motor blew up, switches to open/close broke. I’ve even pulled up strangers who have the same vehicle and before I finish asking them if they’ve had problems the answer is yes!! Also, my 12v plug doesn’t run my Arb Zero fridge freezer due to the cable size. Been waiting 12 months for replacement parts.
Good to know! I’ll keep an eye on that roller top. Hopefully they fixed it but if it doesn’t work out, I’ll rip it all out and put a canopy on. When you say cable size, are you talking about the fridge not having enough cable length? The plug on mine puts out 15A which is plenty for a fridge under load. Thanks for the comment and I look forward to your response 👍
Yeah, so the cable from my battery to the plug doesn’t put out enough amps to run a fridge. I’d have to replace the wiring for that. Good to know they’ve upgraded that! Keep an eye on your trimmings on the roller cover in the heat and I was also told to give the cover tracks a light spray with silicone spray to keep it running nice and smooth 👍🏻👍🏻
@@jamieweston3376 they probably used too thin of a gauge of wire for the distance that caused voltage drop. I’m glad they fixed it. I’ll give it a spray tomorrow for sure 👍
@@jasonhassarati9954 The dealer invoice didn't state it anywhere so it wasn't really mentioned. I probably lost out there but the sound system is fine to me and if I wanted a better system, I could install it myself in an hour or 2.
I was looking at the suspension in the front and it seems they have used lift blocks. Is the suspension the same with blocks or is it actually different. Cheers mate. Very cool vehicle!!
I’m doing an off-road review next week so I’ll let you know. On the road, it feels great 👍 I’ll look more into the lift blocks too. Thanks for the comment, always appreciate the interest 🙏
It depends. If you really want a new Ute then Dmax, Hilux and Ranger are probably your top options. All of which will set you back about the same if you go with the sr5 hilux. The rogue is only beneficial for more serious off-roaders with the better suspension and brakes. Otherwise, stick with the SR5, Dmax and ranger and save your money. I think Toyota make the best vehicles on the market regardless of their “aged” tech. I think this is their biggest advantage. But if you are after value, probably a base model Ford is where the value is. I hope this helps 👍
Thanks for the comment and for subscribing. For the money, I think it actually represents good value. Did you say you bought it for your wife? How does she find driving it?
@@NorthOz haha was meant to say WIDE but stupid phone wrote wife. Either way, Ute is very comfortable compare to SR5 and few other Utes I have driven. New ford is next level but i I wouldn’t buy it as still has fair share of its problems already. Your Ute is nice Red mate(goes faster 😛). My Ute is frosted white. Keep up the good channel and hopefully you grow quick. Happy new year
I also got tail gate assist from grunt 4x4 so now tailgate comes down and up pretty easy. Not sure why your Ute didn’t come with Tow bar as my one came with Tow bar and all wired up. Paid $74.5 k includes weather shields and bonnet protector.
Hi, I can buy a 2022 model Rogue for $75,990,. It has 6,000 k’s on the odometer. Apparently it’s perfect condition. Do you think that’s a good buy? Or would you buy new instead? How much more dollars would be for brand new? Just after your opinion Very kind regards, Stan
Really nice rig bro hilux are the best looking Ute on the road in my opinion, I agree with the buttons you mentioned I really hope Toyota don’t go full electronic
Thanks manny! I appreciate the nice comment. Me too, analogue is the way to go and I’m afraid every manufacturers might lean towards more and more electronic
I have a Red Rogue arriving in a few weeks time. The Red was an impulse decision for me because my dealer received an additional allocation so I skipped the huge wait if I chose Red. But I've had the occasional doubts as I don't usually choose red cars as a rule. Thankfully your video has really sold me on the colour. I'm loving the look of your ute, it's mint 👌 I'm impatient for mine to arrive now 😅
I was in the same boat. My dealership had 2 allocated and this was the only option but I would’ve picked it again. It stands out in a crowd and photographs well in any situation. The red a very nice shade too. Not too light and not too dark. Good choice and hopefully these videos keep you entertained until yours arrives. Well done on the purchase 👍
@North Oz Thanks 😊 It's nice to see someone excited about the Rogue too. Most reviewers just repeat the same negative speel over and over. Like you I also chose the Rogue over the new Ranger. I ordered the Ranger back in May but after extensive research I decided the Ranger had a few deal breakers for me. Luckily a friend picked up my V6 Wildtrak contract and he actually collected it from the dealership yesterday. I have no regrets. The Hilux has just the right mix of quality and functionality that gives me piece of mind. I'm looking forward to your Ranger/Rogue comparison video. Love your work. 😊
@North Oz The Ranger had many quality assurance issues. 1. Phone connection / call quality is terrible. Sounds like you're underwater. 2. The roof insulation is non existent so it's very noisy when it rains. 3. Vibrating tail shaft issues causing a very large number of vehicles to be recalled. Many people are getting stranded away from home and end up out of pocket for towing, accommodation etc. 2 week plus wait for tailshaft replacement and multiple inspections. 4. Dealerships not having required parts for repairs so if something goes wrong you're screwed. 5. Front Grill very open with huge gaps, means anyone wanting to travel long distances rurally need to pay for a bullbar and/ or mesh solutions to protect against rocks and debris on the road destroying the cooling fins and entering the engine bay. 6. Leaving your ranger parked in the hot sun can cause your the huge centre screen to overheat and go black until it cools which can severely compromise functionality. 7. I don't love the quality of leather on the Ford seats. It's soft and shows wear very quickly. Some of these will be fixed as time goes by but they would be very annoying after paying nearly $80K for a vehicle. Hilux system is older sure but it all works. Happy Days.
Hi Mark 👍 awesome rig mate , the red sets it off and it now looks tough as. I also like the Nepula blue .The looks match the reputation now 😀 just wanted to ask you is the trailer plug a 7 or 12 pin as standard ?
Great looking vehicle Mark. I’m looking forward to seeing future videos. I live in Scotland and was reading today that Toyota U.K. are in the process of developing a Hilux that will run on Hydrogen. I was wondering what you think about that sort of development.
Thanks mate! I think hydrogen will work for a few places in the world but i think electric is more achievable at the moment. Where I live in far North Queensland, we barely have any electric charging places and electricity prices are pretty high so even that isn’t great. I’d say hybrid is a good compromise for the foreseeable future but going full hydrogen and electric just isn’t practical for most markets at the moment. Personally, I’d switch to hybrid at any point but wouldn’t rely on the alternative fuel source. Otherwise I probably wouldnt even get out of my town, let alone state haha. Interesting ideas though and there is definitely a way forward but it has to be practical and accessible to the masses
Love my Fortuner power Mark, your right they don't need any more. They go well and you have factory reliability. Also really like how my factory snorkel sits in nice and flush and you can hardly see it when driving. Spoke to the Workshop when they predelivered mine and they sealed it up for me. Left the duck bill as it is to drain rainwater if any ever.
The reason I ask if 77k is ok is because I’ve been offered one at the price because the person who ordered it has changed his mind. Just want to know if 77k is fair?
I see. To put it into perspective, I paid $72k inc on road, tint and floor mats. All dealers have wiggle room in their bottom line. I would push them for a better deal. It depends how much you want it
Great review mate, very clear and well spoken, congrats on this great rig, I would of liked to see Toyota put the 300s v6 diesel in this model hilux maybe with a single turbo or down tuned just for that extra appeal, but nonetheless, well done, I have a next gen raptor on order expecting q1-q2 this year.
Thanks Chris! I’m happy with the 2.8L in this. It pulls pretty hard and it’s tried and tested. Although, no one would complain if it had a v6 in it haha. Congrats on your raptor! It was tempting ordering one. I would like to know your thoughts on it when it arrives 👍 Have you test drove one yet?
@@NorthOz I'll be sure to let you know, yeah my local dealer had a test unit for test drives, it drives and handles really nicely almost like a luxury suv with the fox suspension, stays extremely flat through corners and awesome power and torque from the engine, can't wait until it arrives.
That’s awesome bro! I’ll have to check it out. It’s definitely tempting. The suspension changes could be worth it if you want to go with a big legal lift. The interior and wide body is nice too. I’ll be making some more videos on this exact topic so keep an eye out. Thanks for the sub 🤙
Haha from some angles it definitely looks that way. Bigger wheels and tires is on my list. Just so expensive. I’m happy with the lift and probably will leave it as it is

Actually, it might’ve even been you who asked 😆
@NorthOz yes I think it was me I just have to know what's what with them would love the rogue but nobody got one for sale over here, so it looks like the invincible. billm.
If you don’t mind me asking.. What’s the towing capacity / payload on the stock tires?.. beautiful truck btw.. 🚗
I will have to look up the exact specs of the tires. But the payload of this ute is 854kg due to the new off-road suspension. Towing capacity is 3.5 tonnes. Thanks for the comment and for subscribing 👍
I live in Sydney and most of my driving is Urban stop and go. Will I have any problems with DPF?
Cool! No issues at all 👍
Hey Mark, I like the video.
@@4Toylux good call. I don’t think the upgrade is worth the $1000 odd dollars. Better off doing it yourself. Hopefully the upgrades are available soon
Cheers for subscribing 👍
does rogue have a bottom engine cover?
It does but not suitable for hard hits off road. You would need thicker protection for that
Good luck with the roller cover!
Hi Mate, your Hilux rogue come standard with the JBL speaker system and Apple carplay?
Mine is optioned without the JBL stereo. CarPlay is standard across most of the Toyota range, including this one 👍
@@NorthOz thanks for the prompt response. Did they offer you a discount to not have the JBL system?
@@jasonhassarati9954 The dealer invoice didn't state it anywhere so it wasn't really mentioned. I probably lost out there but the sound system is fine to me and if I wanted a better system, I could install it myself in an hour or 2.
Very good details we can rely on keep showing us more content
Absolutely mate 👍 I still have big plans for this beast 🤙
I was looking at the suspension in the front and it seems they have used lift blocks. Is the suspension the same with blocks or is it actually different. Cheers mate. Very cool vehicle!!
I’m doing an off-road review next week so I’ll let you know. On the road, it feels great 👍 I’ll look more into the lift blocks too. Thanks for the comment, always appreciate the interest 🙏
The best tyre size for your rogue is 285 75 18 falken wildpeak at3w
Just screen shotted that, thank you 🙏 Should I stay with the stock wheels or upgrade to a wider and smaller diameter wheel?
If you want to stick on the original wheel the 285 75 18 are not going to be fit, it possibly touch on full lock turning.
For me smaller diameter wheels its only for landcruiser and other SUV cars, . You better stick to 18"X9 wheels and 285 75r18 if possible 🙆
Good to know. I’ll stick to 18’s and see how big we can go with the tire 👍
Is there any USB ports in the back seat
No there is not. I hope this helps 👍
Thanks Mark gr8 review by the way 👍
@@dalesmithers5043 Cheers :)
They’re asking about 77k for this now including on roads. Is that still good value?
I got MY23 WIDE BODY rogue too and they pretty good compare to normal SR5
Good call with the tailgate assist. I don’t really need it’s good to know it’s there. Mine came with a tow pack and tow ball 👍
Hi, I can buy a 2022 model Rogue for $75,990,. It has 6,000 k’s on the odometer. Apparently it’s perfect condition.
Do you think that’s a good buy? Or would you buy new instead?
How much more dollars would be for brand new?
Just after your opinion
Very kind regards,
Stan
Is it the new wide body one like mine? If not, I wouldn’t pay over $65k. I got mine for $72k new
Really nice rig bro hilux are the best looking Ute on the road in my opinion, I agree with the buttons you mentioned I really hope Toyota don’t go full electronic
Thanks manny! I appreciate the nice comment. Me too, analogue is the way to go and I’m afraid every manufacturers might lean towards more and more electronic
Hi buddy what was the Waiting time for the new hilux 👍
Hi Steve. I got a dealer allocated hilux, so for me only 2 months 👍 Thanks for commenting and subscribing
I'm loving the look of your ute, it's mint 👌
I'm impatient for mine to arrive now 😅
I was in the same boat.
Good to know! What were those deal breakers?
Happy Days.
@@rd6416 Thank you for sharing! Very important points your brought up there and you won't find that in the Hilux that's for sure.
Very nice review. Looking forward to off road review and a walk through of the off road controls :)
Thanks Adam! I have a video coming up soon where I’ll be taking it off-road. I think you’ll like it 👍
Good review mate. Enjoyed it
Thank you. Your kind words are appreciated 👍
You made me love the Hilux even more, nice car.

Hi Mark 👍 awesome rig mate , the red sets it off and it now looks tough as. I also like the Nepula blue .The looks match the reputation now 😀 just wanted to ask you is the trailer plug a 7 or 12 pin as standard ?
Thanks mate! 7 pin plug 👍
Good advice. I wonder what is needed to seal it up? I’ll have to investigate further for sure
It depends how much you want it
@@NorthOz I can wait
@@chris_s01 nice. I look forward to it 👍

no gas struts for tailgate
Nope. I don’t need it anyway. If I wanted it, I could install one for cheap. I like slamming it open and shut. Feels like a Ute that way 👍
saw someone posting your yt channel on hilux australia. New subscriber, I'm thinking of trading my 22 SR5 for the new rogue.
That’s awesome bro! I’ll have to check it out. It’s definitely tempting. The suspension changes could be worth it if you want to go with a big legal lift. The interior and wide body is nice too. I’ll be making some more videos on this exact topic so keep an eye out. Thanks for the sub 🤙
are you a toyota guy?,beacause i am . iam from greece
Hello Giannis! I am a Toyota guy. I like them a lot 👍
Desperately needs a wheel, tire and suspension upgrade with those wide fender flares. The truck looks like it skipped leg day.
Haha from some angles it definitely looks that way. Bigger wheels and tires is on my list. Just so expensive. I’m happy with the lift and probably will leave it as it is
@@NorthOz you could do a lift, keep the stock wheels, go with 285/65r18 tires and do 35mm wheel spacers. Just make sure they're hub centric for a Hilux.
My dream is to get this car one day... ❤
They are very nice! Work hard, save as much as you can and try to avoid spending on little things you don’t need. Over years, they add up. I can’t wait to see your rogue out on the tracks 👍
that water pooling in the back is concerning.
Yeah it’s a bit annoying. I found it was only an issue with heavy rain. In light rain it didn’t seem to be affected
