Great video, especially for your first time on something like this. I plan to do the same on my E350 van conversion.
I noticed you said you put WD40 to slide on the pushing. WD40 will eat through rubber with time. Silicone or Lithium grease is a suitable alternative.
Thanks for the video. I just got done doing my 2006 e250 . And dam it was easy. I decided to do both sides since it was easy. It took me no for then 2 hrs. I didn't have to fight with it. All this time, I thought it was a bigger problem with all that banging noise . And $25. Dollar kit and some time solved the issue. Thanks to TH-cam.
Could not remove the three bolts. Released sway bar connection and pulled axel forward with come-along to where I could remove old bushing. Worked great.
I just changed these on my '79 F-350. It was pretty much the same. Thanks for the video.
One think to keep in mind.. I don’t know if u mentioned.. get all hardware on and snug but don’t torque the nut until the jack is off and the full weight is on the van. Great job.. great video thanks for making this
The reason they quoted you so high is because on most trucks/rvs the radius arm mounting bracket is either riveted or welded so the bushing replacement usually entails dismantling most of the wheel/suspension assembly, thus adding to the cost. Lucky for you yours was bolted to the frame (probably some smart chap earlier on down the road who modified it and made it easier for future mechanics.

Back in the day I could do both sides in an hour , with riveted brackets .
Good video. I'll be doing this job in the next couple of weeks. One thing I should mention is that silicone grease is what you should have used for sliding those polyurethane type insulator bushes, not WD40.
Yep I use dielectric grease same stuff.

I have the bolt type. I did drivers side, other side already done, soo, it took about 40 mins to do! I thought it would be tough, but using your method, it went pretty smooth! Didn"t need to jack it up, just crawl under and did it. Thanks again!

Little closer to your wrench that holds the nut near the exhaust.
Luckily the nut side is near the exhaust and the bolt
Pulls out the opposite side instead of pulling out the exhaust side which would mean the exhaust would have to be dropped.
If it was designed by Mercedes’ I can guarantee you they would have put the nuts on the opposite side.

Hi. You seem to have such a hard time getting that bracket off the end of the radius arm. Earlier you had a ratchet strap attached to it. Why did you stop using the ratchet strap to help? Seems like it would have made it easier to keep using the strap.

Yep. Your front wheels end up moving a little forward and down.
Damn. I got rivets...but it might still be easier/faster to grind them off and put bolts after the jobs done compared to taking everything off the truck

@@VeganIncline thats what i tought before starting the job. I dont know if its the -25celcius weather but im having a rough time for sure. Tought i could grid the rivet's head off and zip gun the rest of the rivet out but its not working so i have to drill them all the way so its taking a little bit longer than i tought.

Lol kudos for doing radius arm bushings yourself. Not knocking you there. That job sucks. I think its funny hearing people talk about car parts when they dont know what they are. Again though kudos for taking on that job. It really sucks especially when the brackets are riveted on. Then you have to drop the i beam
Where did you put the jack to raise and support the vehicle? Under the radius arm itself? I want to take the weight and tension off the radius arm, correct?
We put the jack on the frame and then once the front end was up we put a stand under the front wheel arms\__/
If you need help with getting the holes lined back up a jack right on radius arm is ok to get it up. I just put wood black in for cushion.
