    Those bushes and shocks need to be torqued once the wheels are back on the ground.

    I'm not a mechanic but from what I know, the upper leaves are for daily driving (without a load in the back) and the other ones engage when you put an amoynt of weight in the bed. So I suppose that the new ones would a little stiffer when the bed is empty, but it also depends on the thickness of the leaves. Usually those kind of leaves (with more upper leaves) are used when you constantly carry some weight in the back (like a rooftop tent, overlanding equipment etc).
    Greetings from Greece. Keep up the good work!!!

      Excellent point - we have fitted a back box, the weight of just that has improved the ride to a surprising extent, so we are also about to get a new rear bar, very beef, so add some more weight.

    Love watching this with your banter reminds me so much of me and my dad 🤣, doing my shocks and springs today on my l200 also putting 32mm strut spacers on the front to level off, my old springs had 4 on top 2 on the bottom new ones 5 on top one on the bottom it does give a lift back end already sits at 40” from base to arch so interested to see if the 5+1 makes much difference. Did you notice yours lifted at all

      Hi Louise - Nath does well to put up with me, but we do enjoy some decent banter, most he edits out (due to my potty mouth :) he's too much like his Mum !! - ours was very low at the front when we got it (if you know who Starsky & Hutch are, I love the stance Starsky had on his Torino ) Nath wanted it level, so he played around with the torsion to level it off - he has now put a rear box on, so a bit more weight on the back - our problem was that we did it all at once, so never noticed a drop or increase in height - being simple !! also forgot to measure it 🤓

      Have you seen the smoke coming out 😂 there are a few small (cheap) upgrades coming soon - but we are starting some work on the old boys JEEP, but the L200 stuff won't be long - plus we are going to see what it can do off road over the next few months, camera work will be our problem, but hope to get something watchable - thanks for commenting !!

      We got all our bits except the shocks from www.milneroffroad.com/catalogue/rear-leaf-springs-components-slsc-su - but before brexit, they will not ship to us (or cannot) in Portugal at the moment.

    What have the daft IPO inspectors been saying about your powdercoating? :D

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its a while ago - and my memory struggles with yesterday 😂 - we powdercoated some rusty bits for the L200 and my Jeep - as we used a colour other than black, they were stating it was a non conforming aftermarket part - we took it off, I painted it black with a brush - took it back and they passed it - the L200 has some blue bits on for 3 tests now, never mention them ! my Jeep we have done 4 tests since, first 3 fine, last one moaned about the mud flaps not being long enough (not changed a thing), but passed it, I took it back that afternoon, with some riveted rubber on (and hand wrote JEEP on it 😂 ) insisted they retest it - and removed the "warning" from my certificate - they did, I just then took it off👺 .... Your English is perfect - I am embarrassed how poor my Portuguese is😩

    The new Terrafirma shocks I bought for my Land Rover had some zones of no-resistance in them when extending and compressing by hand. Is that normal ?

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We never tried that - we have some shocks ready to go on the ML - I will try one tomorrow (not Terrafirma unfortunately)

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, unscientifically pushed them down (dam hard to do, but our ML is well over 2 tons) and could not feel any dead spots - Nath believes, if you compress the damper, and it rises back to extended, that should be fine - allegedly they need time to bed in - we found this for you: ..... "For the first hundred or so miles after installing your new dampers, the driver will notice that the suspension feels a little stiff and bouncy. This is normal and happens primarily for two reasons: First, a new set of shocks and struts needs to be broken in just like anything else"

    How did you find the terrafirmas ?..ive just ordered some

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They fit the vehicle dynamics really well - appear a quality item, at the price point, look underpriced - happy days - from its on road manners, we have seen an improvement at the front, speed humps / pot holes etc are much better sorted - off road they are giving a more composed (if thats the right term) feel and hold the tyres to the surface better. We have a "test" dirt road, we are yet to do it / film it as its pouring with rain here (Portugal) and we filmed the stock setup in the very dry, so are holding off until the track has dried out. The rear still bounces about, but we 99% of the time have no load in the back, the new leafs and shocks to us, make no difference - think with a massive load in, we would see an improvement. Let us know how you get on with yours 👍🏼
