Suspension System:
The automobile vehicle's frame and body are mounted on the front and rear axle not directly but through some form of springs and shock absorbers. This is done to damp road shocks transmitted parts that perform this function are called a suspension system.
Thus, the suspension system includes springs, shock absorbers, and mountings. The suspension system of a motor vehicle is divided into rear-end suspension and front-end suspension.
Types of Suspension Systems:
Independent suspension: In this type of suspension, each front wheel is independently supported by a coil, torsion bar, or leaf spring. Most passenger cars now use independent front suspension, in which the coil spring system is the most common.
Types of Independent suspension:
1. Macpherson Strut Suspension
2. Double Wishbone Suspension
3. Multilink Suspension
4. Trailing Arm Suspension
Non-Independent or Rigid axle suspension: This type of suspension was universally used before independent front wheel suspension was introduced. It may use either two longitudinal leaf springs, as shown in the figure, or transverse springs, usually in conjunction with shock absorbers. These assemblies are mounted similarly to rear leaf spring suspensions.
Types of Non-Independent or Rigid axle suspension:
1. Solid Axle Leaf Spring Suspension
2. Solid Axle Coil Spring
Other Suspension Types:
1. Air Suspension
2. Hydro Elastic Suspension

Nice one XD
There are only very few TH-cam videos that show the details of how car systems work in detail.
And yours is the best of them all.
Keep up this good quality content.
Thanks 👍
Great content
@@TheEngineersPost can you tell me
Stages in suspension system?
I love cars so much, that's why I am a motor vehicle technician by profession,I hope I get mine soon
You will get your own car this year in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen
It'll happen. Keep working, keep saving, make it happen. Trust
This is well done and easy to digest even for non car guys or beginners.
I would also like to add Torsion Bar rear suspension, it's also a non independent suspension common in economy cars. The torsion bar also acts as an anti roll bar but most of the time it is tuned for comfort. The design is simple and cheap to make also there is rarely a way to adjust the wheel alignment for such suspension.
He did happen to mention it at 3:20, and I completely agree! This made it way easier to understand.
The kind you're talking about acts as the anti-roll bar but not as the springs. The cars I'm aware of that have it use coil springs, not torsion bars. A true torsion bar suspension is found on the front of Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth rear-drive cars from the '60s to the '80s.
Yes, probably you refer to semi-independent suspension which is very popular today because its simplicity ,low cost and almost independent suspension. I have a car with this type of suspension and I am very satisfied with the behavior of the car.
*tortion BEAM, not tortion bar (which is a whole different thing).
Super informative to be honest.
The breakdowns are basic fundamentals, and easy to digest.
Well done, thanks for making suspension easier to understand. The video was very detailed (if a little disorganised in places). This presentation would really step up a class with the addition of 2 concepts in the English language:
- the definite and indefinite article needs to be added (“the” & “a”). Example: “the tyre” for a specific tyre, “a tyre” for any tyre.
- plurals: most English words add an “S” at the end when referring to multiples. Example: “cats” is plural, “cat” is singular. However some words are both plural and singular. Example “sheep” or “fruit”.
English is hard - but I really appreciate you translating so I can understand your video.
Judging by the sound artifacts in some phonyms and the fact that many videos on many channels have been using the exact same voice recently, I'm pretty sure that this is a robot voice. Still informative !
but how we can make a different bitween a robot voice and real voice ?? do you have any idéal...😒
Great!!!
Very explicit description of the suspension system.
Thanks for the lecture.

This is so good, didn’t realise there so so many. Very informative video
Thanks for explaining suspension system in simple way. Now a days Twist beam rear suspension is commonly used in cars and small SUV. Same need to be included.
I’ve been working on car since a was ten years old and never seen a twin I beam in the real
Explanation was high level but it could easily understand by a beginner.
I really thankful to this video and concept of types of suspensions used in cars.
Thank you.
This video couln't be any better. Thanks for resolving all my doubts
Awesome video! Everything was easy to understand and simple for the average person. One suspension system I would have liked to be included is the “i-beam” with is like a solid axle but a little different.
The Ford Ranger being the king of camber thanks to the ibeam
Superb presentation and very educational. The graphics, photography, format and core teaching are seminal, which makes the poor computerised English and syntax easily forgiven because the overall instructional video is truly excellent.
Thanks for such an elaborate explanation, really love your video
This is the best tutorial in suspension I ever had...... sooo...knowing the Citroèn AIR SUSPENSION...I’d say.....AIR SUSPENSION IS THE BEST SUSPENSION SISTEM EVER...in my experience...🤨✊🙏

Very nice. We are very happy to know suspension system. Please show and explain us all over knowledge about suspension system and show test of famous cars company's suspension position
after loading full passengers and luggage.
Excellent. You didn't mention de Dion suspension but I realise it's rarely used now. But Rover 3500 and some Alfa's used them. They kept the rear wheels flat on the road. .
It's awesome , excellent video I never see in my life .it's. Really explanation very easier manner

Magnetic or electromagnetic suspensión? Thanks for the video.
I love the independent suspension system then other options of suspensions
Well presented
Perfect analysis, thank you! Just a question: if you add a spring spacer at the springs of a torsion beam (in order to raise the ride height at the back), do you affect the spring preload?
Thanks for excellent introduction of different suspension types. coilovers is missed?
Please, do the same vid explanation to super exotic cars suspension, im extracting your knowledges for an hour in this vid, great job

No doubt U have explained very nicely , but one thing I would ask atat type of suspension should be used , or would be better for some particular, vehicles , and no doubt as U told some R not easily available, or very costly so in thst case what would be the better or best many thanks , GOD BLESS YOU
