these old CRs are just pure badasses. I had an ‘87 CR80 that blew everyone off the line…and I mean everyone, regardless of how many CCs they had. it was hot.

It's my belief that any bolt that's gonna be spinning or around.Spinning parts should probably have thread locker applied. That's my opinion anyway. But please don't use red.So the rest of us when we have to tear that damn thing back down can actually get the bolts back out. Just use blue it works just fine.

Got an 89 CR250 that seems to be having power valve trouble. When I pulled the right side crankcase cover off I noticed the actuator you referenced at 30:50 came out with it. The flat side was against the rod, so therefore the rod did wasnt going through the notched part. Itd be safe to assume thats the source of my lack of power?

Yes I reckon your rite, if the power valve isn’t working you’ll have power up high and no bottom end if it’s stuck open and vice versa if it’s stuck shut. 👍

Where can I find a metal tray like the one you have on your workbench?

Hey mate, there nice trays aren’t they stainless steel and perfect for doing forks seals and engine rebuilds. Not really something you can buy I don’t think, I acquired them from work as I’m in the dairy industry but I’m sure you could get something similar made.
      Cheers 👍

Hi I’m having trouble getting my cylinder back on, seems it will not seat properly and may be getting hung up on the power valve actuator that is right on the gasket. How did you align it??

      Hey mate
Yep not a very good design I’m glad they changed that, but it was probably easier for me as I had the engine on the bench and yours is still in the frame? Have you had your power valve apart? Just make sure it’s timed correctly and the arm is sitting in the rite spot when the valves are closed.
I had a torch and a oring picking tool to get it in the rite spot when the cylinder was nearly all the way down, hope this helps.

The power valve has to be properly timed or it will never mate to the crankcase. Those HPP motors are finicky. When they are timed right and accuating proper it's lights out.
