By far the best machining videos I've ever seen the way he lays it out in sequence and displays the tools needed for the job absolutely epic and I'm jealous of all the machining tools I wish I had that in my garage.. THANKS PAUL X
100% AGREED!!! Paul X is an awesome mechanic with awesome tools! Too bad he doesn’t live in the U.S. (Do you Paul?) I definitely have a few dirtbike repairs and modifications that would be awesome to get his help with and insights on. You don’t find this kind of talent at your local dirtbike repair shop.
I 've watched it twice and it's just insanely cool. You're a great fellow. I am writing through a translator if anything, I'm sorry, your subscriber from Russia is the city of Chelyabinsk Я смотрел его дважды, и это просто безумно круто. Ты отличный парень. This video blows my mind. I have a CRF250 head that needs the seats reconditioned. I have a Bridgeport mill and a South Bend lathe but I don't have the stones to even attempt a job like this. I am sure I would mess it up. Bravo!
Dont, beryllium is one of the worst cancer agents known to man, get rid of any bike that has it, dont touch it dont work with it, the guy in this video is going terminal very soon, im a metal refiner and i dont fck with beryllium ever, that entire shop is now contaminated even the children he went home to... google beryllium affects, hes dying soon sadly
Awesome video,I’m a 2 stroke guy & I Just bought a New 4 stroke…I know Some stuff about 4 strokes but This is New to me…that’s a Lot of Work but You made it look Easy🏆
Never cut Beryllium dry at all if there's a way to wet it and worst case scenario, hook up a vacuum cleaner on the flanges of the head to suck any dust coming out with the chips.
Amazing work done there👌,really satisfying to see all that perfection and exactness of all your processes and machine work, makes me somewhat envious for real...I have the same 2007 Honda CRF250R 4-stroke which also made me enjoy the video a great deal! About a year ago my bike had to have both exhaust valves replaced since the bike was starting only after being pushed and even then it was misfiring while in idle ending up turning off sooner or later. An experienced friend looked into it and detected the issue,I then ordered the 2x exhaust valves,2x seals and new gaskets. It solved the issue,it starts and runs🙂,but it makes a slight rev cut when cold which fades a way once it takes off. My friend said for me to order a new replacing kit for the carburator which I did and I've been waiting on my friend to have a chance to mount the kit up...Do you think the new replacing kit for the carburator with new needle,o-rings,jets, valve and a couple of other brass parts will solve this issue🤔? Thank you in advance,my best regards to you all the way from PortugaL🇵🇹.
A beautiful job, as always! Your workshop is like a surgical operating theatre- so clean. I appreciate the style of your videos, we can see clearly what you are doing without an unnecessary commentary or any annoying music.
I had a co-worker do the same thing as this with his CRF 250 but he had the head ported and polished new seats all the way around. It had plenty of power, sadly the engine only lasted 3 races. The bottom end gave out spectacularly and destroyed the whole engine.
@@daddy5225 actually my CR500 doesn't have a power valve. Those are optional. There are plenty of two strokes that use a reed valve but it's a completely passive device. What I posted is called a tongue in cheek comment. It's a joke that the original poster seemed to completely understand. Primarily because he was working on the top end of a four-stroke, specifically the valves while none of those parts exist on two stroke bikes.
I like the intake valves being pushed on with his fingers cause it failed the vacuum check the first time lol. 45 degree seat angles are cut way too wide as well hence the reason why the intake valves failed the vacuum check. Thin seat angle = best seal and flow. Other then that overall good job doing the oversize valve seat.
Just by eye, the exhaust valve with the non-replaced seat appears to be more recessed into the head than the one with the new seat. How different in thickness were the shims needed for them? Maybe it was an illusion, but I thought they must be pretty different if visible. Neat seat cutter, I never saw one like that!
I have a cnc mill and just got 2 bridgeport manual mills and wanted to get into head work for some local customers..but i am shocked to see that handheld tool you have cutting through the copper bereylium so easily.

I wonder why they use beryllium copper for the valve seats, I hope you know to use proper protection with that stuff, it's like one of the most toxic material there is to machine.
