Absolutely love listening to knowledgeable people. That guy has probably forgotten more about Ducati than we ever knew, an absolute fountain of riveting info👌
Absolutely chuffed for ye, Rich and his mate are top class bike mechanics, fair play to the guy who had it in the shed for 17 years, he deserves a pat on the back as well.
Easily one of my favorite BVG/44 teeth videos already. Ive been working on my 998 for years now, so I know enough to follow Rich's comments. I also know enough to recognize that he is a real Ducati mechanic and i am a hack. The engine start up was excellent. The startup after a major repair is a great feeling. I cant wait for the first ride Chris. Im sure you will enjoy it.
Love this series on the 916 . 90s bikes have so much more character than the boring modern bikes which ride themselves. We should all go back to riding them instead. Great series thanks
I ride a 1997 VTR 1000 Firestorm, and i wholeheartedly agree. A big old analog bike is so much more fun than the modern alien spaceships without any soul...
It's funny you say that I was just thinking the same that people should stop buying new bikes out of protest to tec, I vave a few. Ikes and want to sell half and been thinking of selling my new bikes and keeping g the older ones with very little and no tec, I'm have come to realise the tec gets in the way of enjoying the bike and if your a good rider you don't need it and the way I like to ride is wheelies and rolling burnouts ect😮
@bergerniklas6647 I have a zx14 and it's my favourite bike over several more in the stable because of its minimal tec, you start it and go it does every thing g I like 👍
That guy is awesome ... clearly knows his stuff and his attention to detail is superb. Makes me want to buy a Ducati just so I could get him to work on it.
Best video to ever come out of your camp. I think we all agree that the 916 is a dream bike. What many of us drooled over for years and years. I LOVED this video Baron! And thx for not letting this channel die. Love 44Teeth!
Rich is a hero, he helped me out with a look over my 1098 at a trackday at Castle Combe a few months back and he's so flippin' nice and mega helpful. What he doesn't know, is not worth knowing
It says Cusworth Bikes on the plate, which immediately perked my interest even more. This dealer was based in Doncaster and flattened in 2008/09, being replaced by a furniture store and later a car park to aid the nearby job center and disability centre. I'd say take the bike to its origins and park it where it once stood on the showroom, but knowing the area it might get stolen.
As an ex 996 SPS owner, this was absolute gold!!! That mechanic of yours is a treasure trove of ducati lore. That engine startup brought tears to my eyes
Had a Datatool 50 on a bike for 31years, no false alarms even in heavy wind, stopped it being stolen twice before it was garaged, still works fine, great piece of kit...
Absolutely loved this from start to finish. Rich is an absolute gem, such a deep, deep knowledge of Ducati's. He has a touch of the Dibnah about him. He should have his own channel.
Rich is awesome when it comes to fettling with all manner of Ducatis, he is also a top instructor on track and very popular with many of our customers.
Brilliant! Rich even spotted the none standerd bolt,Attention to detail was top drawer.Graet to see. And the bike is a cracker I still have my old posters of 916 sps in folders in the loft. Im going to fish them out now :)
Why do I get the impression that the whole of Britain is filled to the brim with knowledgeable talkative motorcycleshop owners? What a joy to hear this man share his passion for these bikes. Great vid!
23:10 Pah ha ha! “If you’re doing the belts at home…!” Yeah right! Top work Baron, this was a really nice relaxing video. This guys knows his patients inside out, really super to watch. Top narration for us lamens as always. A perfect soothing Sunday night treat to enjoy with some leftover party snacks and a glass of flat Dr Pepper. Love it.
I had a feeling you’d lucked out with this bike. Absolute git. Really interesting to hear someone who knows exactly what they are doing talking about this stuff (Papa Luigi I mean). Al’s face when it started… 😂 That sounds takes me back… Love the early three-spoke wheels as well. I think I need to add another Ducati… 😂 And lastly… what do you mean, “maybe I need to put some new tyres on it”?! Yes Chris, you do need to put some new tyres on it! 😂
You accidentally made an educational video! Really enjoyed the old school mechanics. Reminds me of when I was a kid and the bike shops were owned by ex racers and mechanics and seemed to know everything
Got nothing but good things to say about Rich and Lougi Moto! Absolutely lovely bloke who really takes his time and does a proper, thorough job, is happy to help if you need it and has completely earned his outstanding reputation! What this man doesn't know about Ducati's isn't worth knowing.
What a great find!!! I remember watching Foggy riding the 916 battling with Scott Russel on the Muzzy Kawasaki way back in the day. The fact that you didn't gag at the smell in that tank after all those years is actually amazing.
Loving this series of vids, what an absolute champion Rich and his off sider are, very enjoyable, could watch and listen to Rich go over this bike for hours.💚
Hey up a 916 is so beautifully styled so don't get the Claudia part as her legs are a bit stumpy, I do get what you mean tho and do have a preference for the 888
I love the glimpse through that white top. No idea how Gary gets anything done with you around. I need to watch the older videos again always a good way to relax.
This show was excellent, what a treat to hear from a legend like this chap. Chris thank you thank you for this video. Would be so awesome to have content like this more often. Best creator of bike content.. well done Chris.
She's coming back almost immediately on both barrels at once. That is one happy Duc I reckon. Do not flip her, they won't get better than that one I'm afraid, plus that lovely Gentleman praising every nook and cranny he was peeking into during biopsy - she's a keeper. And she doesn't even sound like triangle-shaped bearings in idle speed. Massaged back into life. An enviable piece of machinery You found Yourself there.
Always so satisfying to hear a bike come back to life after a long ‘slumber’ and she sounds fantastic….. methinks you’ve got yourself a great buy there 👍👍
Brilliant video, such a wealth of knowledge from Rich at Luigi Moto. Thanks for the tips as well. I might attempt a belt change as my 848 is due in approx 2k miles. So pleased for you Chris, she’s a beauty. Keep us updated on the progress with the rest of the re commissioning. Love these kind of videos. 👏👏👏
Got some funny looks from the misses as I was grinning away when she fired into life, awesome. Could watch and listen to Rich talk and work for hours, just amazing
This is movie gold!! Brilliant subject, top Ducati master, propably the best bike ever, and not to sloppy on the editing!! Well done Chris! Very well done!!
Loving the Ducati! You can tell this bike was cherished and maintained to a high standard! That dry clutch rattle is soo iconic of Ducati! Great work Chris!,, can’t wait for the next episode !
Super video and fantastic, skilled and knowledgeable mechanics giving you such really sound advice. Getting the SPS's heart beating again, was an absolutely joy. Onwards and upwards from here!
Amazing! Properly made me smile watching this and it’s not even my bike!! I could listen/watch Rich work on these bikes all day - such incredible knowledge…👌🔧👌🔧
Great video Chris, really interesting and while you and Al are both pretty handy (steady on), I love seeing experts working on these beautiful machines. Can’t wait to see the progress 👍
Another amazing shop video! All of your shop vids are personal fav's. I can't wait to see James at JHS's reaction to this bike, and what he can do with the suspension/chassis to make it perfect. I believe he said he had built a few of these bikes back in the day. You're lucky to have shops like these guys and JHS in the UK. We don't have many in Canada, and the ones we do have, that are fair, knowledgeable and do amazing work, and usually British Expats.
Fascinated by this, I’m picking up my first Ducati next week, a Supersport 950S which has similar performance stats to the 916 which when it came out and I saw as the pinnacle of superbikeness, utterly gorgeous and esoteric, it’s taken until I’m 65 to buy into the Ducati mystique but better late than never. Following the restoration with great interest.
Absolutely love listening to knowledgeable people.
That guy has probably forgotten more about Ducati than we ever knew, an absolute fountain of riveting info👌
Can't agree more. Motor enthusiast channels that show us those guys are not that common. Big thumbs up.
Took my 999 down to Rich in 2018 to get it road worthy after years sitting from previous owner. Absolute genius and a top bloke.
I have one 4k miles been sitting 25 years in my dining room
I automatically trusted him when I saw him wearing a flat cap.
That was also my first thought.
You know you in the hands of a expert
Henry Cole wears a flat cap too, but he gets a lot of flack!
@@royhayes-ry6rw there’s always exceptions to the rule.
my thoughts exactly

Love how that gentleman caressed and coaxed that bike back to life, gently like it was a living thing. A real artisan.
I love the way he tensioned the belts by feel, hes probably done thousands like that. I did my own belts just once and shat my pants over it 😂
Watching someone do the “not too loose, not too tight” with Desmoquattro belts sure is something.
That was great to watch someone with the knowledge and the love for what he does.
Love this series on the 916 . 90s bikes have so much more character than the boring modern bikes which ride themselves. We should all go back to riding them instead. Great series thanks
I'm probably gona buy a Kawa ZX-4rr because of this reason. I want fun but also midern reliability. Modern 1000cc bikes are just too strong

You're all wrong, fools.
90s bikes are over complicated garbage.
If you really want to experience true analogue riding, you need to get a horse.
🐴 ❤😂

@@overbuiltlimited Could never afford a 916 but I did enjoy my 900SS.

Cusworths of Doncaster - that brings back memories

My dad had a 916 SP2 when i was a kid. Hearing this one come to life actually made me tear up a bit.
My fave episode you’ve done .. well edited & watching a true professor doing what he does. It’s fantastic. .. Well done all
The Fred Dibnah of Ducatis. Lovely to watch someone with that much experience.

I’ve always loved the 916 bikes. Nothing else like them. They’re the Claudia Schaffer of motorcycles where the 851/888 are the Mike Tyson.

Great video and what a bike. That sound takes me back to WSB races at Donnington and the reason why I’ve had a few Ducati’s😊👍🏻

Excellent educational video. I know nothing about engine maintenance and repairing and I learnt so much from this.
Lovely. Simply lovely Chris!

So satisfying. A real feel good story for all. Thanks
Nice to watch and listen to someone who knows what they're talking about, fantastic service!
It's so satisfying to listen to a master in his particular fieldexplain things. What an impressive man Rich is. Well done
Really enjoying this series so far. Keep the momentum, keep her original too.
Great vid, loved Rich could listen to him talk for hours! What a knowledgeable bloke!
Great video. I suspect this'll do more for Rich and Louigi Moto than a ton of adverts in MCN. Experts at work!
So awesome; great find!!! The Aprilia and now this quite the collection!!! Can’t wait to see the next one on this beauty!!
