    Luxury watch buyers, watch collectors, and watch enthusiasts know that “Weekend Watches” is the only Saturday morning curated video gallery of top luxury watch brands! Tim Mosso takes watch collectors on a tour of the best Rolex, Cartier, F.P. Journe, major group, and independent watch brand products. Whether shopping for a sports watch, a dress watch, or you plan to buy a watch as a gift, “Weekend Watches” is your one-stop luxury watch shopping plan.
    Rolex arrives with as a triplet of white metal watches. The vintage Rolex Cellini 4015 combines the lines of the King Midas with a striking blue metallic dial and a white gold “gadroon” case for peerless presence without bulk. The Rolex Yacht-Master 116622 with “dark rhodium” dial is a sleeper hit that proves core steel Rolex sports watches don’t universally trade for twice their retail prices. And the Rolex Sky-Dweller in stainless steel offers the practicality of a three-day power reserve, 100-meter water resistance, a full Rolex Oyster bracelet, a GMT function, and an annual calendar.
    A Lange & Sohne of Glashutte, Germany graces the show with two rose gold fusee-and-chain models from the “Pour le Merite” series. The 40.5mm Richard Lange Pour le Merite includes the fusee constant force device, a vitreous “grand feu” enamel dial, and a limited edition of 200 pieces. The Richard Lange Pour le Merite Tourbillon adds a tourbillon regulator, a disappearing dial panel, a hackings seconds function - on a tourbillon - and a more substantial 41.9mm case.
    Cartier makes a rare appearance on the show thanks to an underrated classic by celebrated designer, Gerald Genta. The Cartier Pasha “C” with blue dial revisits Genta’s 1985 design with a double date (“grade date”), a rich blue dial, and a universally appealing 35mm stainless steel case. The classic “canteen crown” and 100-meter water resistance ensure that this full-bracelet sports watch is ready for all manner of summer fun.
    F.P. Journe’s signature resonance chronometer makes the show in two forms, both platinum: 40mm and 38mm. The 38mm Chronometre a Resonance includes a warm rose gold dial, symmetrical 12/12 dual time dial, and quasi-vintage status. The Resonance Black Label adds a stark black dial and the “Resonance 3” dual time display with scrolling 24-hour time and a standard 12-hour dial.

      @@Luke-bt4do No, it's just that some Journe power reserve indicators run backwards like a marine chronometer. In that sense, they reflect the hours **since being wound**, so the power reserve indicator at "40" means the 40-hour power reserve has been exhausted, and the watch has not been wound in 40 hours. Most of the Journe power reserves that work this way are in the models with "chronometre" in the name.

    That Cellini’s blue dial is amazing. I wonder how it looks next to a Chronometre Bleu or an Overseas.
    That A&S is amazing! Their Pyramid of Time must be the most beautiful skeleton ever made! Their guillochè dials are amazing too.
    That GO Vintage Sixties rocks! I’d love a non-date version, dark green gator strap. They have a new PanomaticLunar with a green dial as well. I’d love to see one in person.

      Indeed, there are a handful of independents that eschew minimalism. Louis Moinet, Greubel Forsey, Molnar Fabry, and Bovet are of one mind on this matter. Kudoke used to be, too, but he made a few concessions to less extravagant tastes and evolved as a watchmaker.

    The rolex YM looks amazing. Two questions: 1. How does the bidirectional bezel feel and sound compared to the submariner? ( in no video we get to hear it). 2. How well does the platinum bezel deal with scratches and dents and how expensive is it to service/repair it?

    • @the1916companywatchreviews
      @the1916companywatchreviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The bezel is smoother and feels more like a 48-click rotation than the 120 sharp clicks of the Sub. This is intentional, of course. It gives the two watches different character.

    I have a question for Tim, I've been curious about this for a long time, what's a good watch for metal heads? Specifically black metal. It has to look evil but not in a flashy gaudy type of way. Not a joke question the closest I can find is maybe a Sea Wolf. But I don't really want a diver, I'm thinking more black polished indices on a black dial.

    • @the1916companywatchreviews
      @the1916companywatchreviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought the Sinn Damaszener 1800s would have been perfect for this. The Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Dark Side Black-Black would be a logical choice, but you'll need a moment to read the time. A Bulgari Octo Finissimo Ceramic in gloss or matte (both are offered) would give you exactly what you describe plus a matching full black bracelet and immunity to the scratches that plague PVD/coated watches.

    A lot of luxury watches, like the F.P. Journes you show, have gold movements. Since gold, even when alloyed, is a softer metal than steel, will the movement's parts wear out sooner?

    • @the1916companywatchreviews
      @the1916companywatchreviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, because all of the mechanical parts are brass, steel, or a variety of bronze. The bridges are set with jewels that anchor the pivots, so there aren't even moving parts in contact with the gold.

Maybe they wake up a bit and cultivate the G.O. brand, great watches already, but if Swatch put a little more 'market muscle', they have the potential to be a real world class brand. Say, keep Omega on the Tool/Sports division, and try to pump G.O. up to be their flagship luxury in the mid tier. Winning
