Tim Mosso leads a line of the top luxury watch brands today on “Wake Up with Watches!” The premier TH-cam watch gallery is a curated safari through the best of Rolex, Omega watches, Patek Philippe, and Audemars Piguet. Rolex watches in precious metal are the topic of the day. A classic Rolex Submariner Date stuns in yellow gold with black ceramic “Cerachrom” bezel; its 300-meter water resistance and Glidelock bracelet adjustment system ensure that it lives up to the Submariner name. Rolex’s GMT Master II “green GMT hand” launched at Baselworld 2005, but it remains stunning fifteen years later in 18-karat yellow gold. Finally, a platinum Rolex Day Date offers the rare and desirable “Rolex wave” dial in signature “glacier blue.”
Omega makes only one appearance on this program, but the 2019 Seamaster Diver 300M Black Ceramic is all that’s necessary to make a splash. This dive watch resists both water and scratches thanks to a case with surface hardness that surpasses 1,800 Vickers. A no-date ceramic dial and 55-hour “Master Chronometer” caliber 8806 automatic movement complete the package.
Audemars Piguet watches encompass more than the Royal Oak, but there’s no doubting that Gerald Genta’s opus remains the beating heart of Le Brassus’ most famous watch brand. Today’s show includes a discontinued Royal Oak Chronograph in rose gold with a silver “grande tapisserie” hobnail dial.
As Patek Philippe launches the 2020 5370P-011, we take a look back to the landmark 2015 Patek Philippe 5370P-001. The 41mm platinum rattrapante remains one of the most striking and roundly appealing watches in the Patek catalog. With a grand feu enamel dial in black and an immaculately finished Patek caliber CH 29-535 PS movement, this high complication remains as relevant in 2020 as the day it bowed at Baselworld.
Fans of innovations in watchmaking will enjoy this channel’s first appearance of a Zenith Defy Inventor. The 44mm titanium (and Aeronith) TimeLab-certified chronometer uses a monobloc silicon oscillator to achieve a stratospheric 129,600 vibration per hour frequency and unprecedented accuracy of .3-.5 seconds gained per day.

Quick note: the Sinn is the 757, not an 857. This one is both a chronograph and GMT, whereas the 857 S UTC is just a GMT.

Glad you got right to the Defy Inventor. I've only seen the 'showcase zenith videos' of it and so it was awesome to see in your hands. Such an interesting movement and case; though I think looking at it doesn't make you calm but pretty jittery! Still awesome to see a movement other than the usual stuff we see.

Honestly: that new type of movement has the second ticking so fast.....it appears to simulate a springdrive, but isn't! Fascinating.

The Pateck Phillipe is the reason watch lovers love watches the dial is full of old world tradition and gravitas and when the caseback is revealed a world of mechanical wonder is revealed at first it appears to be chaos but when one looks closer the order of all those gears and levers and springs is slowly made clear one could be lost for days exploring and marvelling at this incredible hand made micro mechanical world .

If I could get ahold of a omega sea wolf the one with the helium valve inside that still works & in the style I like I could die a happy man & it has to be new not worn by anybody , with papers & case . I like the look of them & military watches & have been a certified watch repairman since 1994 & have had many many many of them come thru my shop throughout my career .
Hi Tim. As you are such a big fan of Sinn I wonder why you never talk about Damasko. For example the DC58 black is made in ice hardened steel, with Damest black patented coating, shock proof, magnetic proof, water proof. They even make their own movement these days. The DC line is used by EADS pilots ! I love mine and on its Hirsch rubber strap it's my best tool watch. Best regards from Europe.

That Zenith Defy inventor just doesn't do it for me. It kinda made me dizzy... Now that Blancpain Villeret Carrousel Phase de Lune, definitely can stare at it forever without feeling dizzy. Like you said, a time piece which has it all. Thank Tim.

I think I'd prefer the black dial, but then again...that new blue is beautiful! Maybe my opinion will change if/whenever I see one in person.
