    I bought a rolex explorer 1 36mm for my boyfriend and ever since it had been his every day watch on any outfit he put on. I'm just amazed how versatile the explorer is.

    In the coming Zombie apocalypse, when the last remnants of humanity are trying to find that fabled walled city in the mountains for safety, I shall launch a quest to find and raid the Watchbox vault - I shall die in a heap of undead with F. P. Journe on my left wrist and the Lange on the other.

    I think a green picture of the sunglasses in the background would be a good addition to the new studio
    My favorite two watches on the table would be the ALS Richard Lange Pour Le Merite and JLC Master Ultra Thin 1907
    I have to say IWC has to make more like the Portugieser Hand Wound 8 Days 75th, looks much better than their current font and shape.

    I much prefer my TT Root Beer (126711CHNR) to the all everose 126715CHNR. The interplay of the everose and oystersteel is extremely interesting to look at. Much more eye popping and stunning than it's big brother, IMHO. It's like a work of art. The all everose is monochrome and boring in comparison. Just my opinion.

    • @damachine3
      @damachine3 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @austin rosin I agree about the mass. That's why I'm wearing my yellow gold blue Submariner, 116618LB, right now whereas I was wearing my TT Root Beer earlier this evening. The reason I was wearing my TT Root Beer earlier is because my YG blue Sub would have been too flashy at the party I was attending.

    Great vid Tim. What’s your feeling on the Zenith logo applied to the crystal? Do you feel it’s obtrusive or detracts from the watch or is it a non issue for you?

    • @the1916companywatchreviews
      @the1916companywatchreviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This kind of logo is the rule for skeleton or open dials, so I'm at peace with it. Other than printing the name on the bezel, there aren't many branding options, and I can't imagine and LVMH watch brand going no-logo. It's not distracting, either.

    • @the1916companywatchreviews
      @the1916companywatchreviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Yes. Right now, the smart money is buying brands like Lange, Glashutte, Zenith, Vacheron, Omega, De Bethune, Kari, JLC, Bulgari, and others that are not hyped and inflated to the level of Journe, Rolex, and (some) Patek.

Hard to choose but those two featured "Panerai Luminor Submersibles".Both are fabulous and I can just picture each one upon my wrist. That Lange Cabaret tourbillon, stunning! Love that enamel dial on the Richard Lange as well. The Reverso very nice indeed too and Panerai Luminor Submersibles are my favorite dive watch design.
    What’s the accuracy rating on the Journe Elegante 48 quartz? The standard +/- 15 secs a month of standard quartz or closer to GS high-end battery powered quartz watches with their, what is it...+/- 10 secs a year!

    • @the1916companywatchreviews
      @the1916companywatchreviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's tough to translate directly, but +/- .5 seconds per day seems to be the claim. When Grand Seiko claims this margin, it translates that into +/- 10s/month while listing the +/- 1s/d as a 15-second-per-month watch.
      Best,
      Tim

    • @DavidDatura
      @DavidDatura 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      WatchBox Reviews all a little ambiguous then, still 0.5secs a day. Well that’s officially at least about twice as accurate as standard quartz I suppose (on that daily basis anyway) if not up there with the high-end battery powered (as opposed to Spring Drive powered) super accurate GS line. Maybe Journe will incorporate thermal compensation amongst other refinements is future versions? As GS/Seiko (and now Citizen) already do.

    • @the1916companywatchreviews

      Watches need meaningful mainspring torque to self-start. Usually, a few turns of the crown are required to start an escapement. Automatic winding systems usually don't provide that kind of immediate energy to a depleted mainspring, and that's why all automatic watches can be wound manually for a quick start. Well, all but an old JLC Futurematic.

      Tim

    Mechanical watches are not worth the time or trouble. I want a high quality and highly accurate watch rather than just a status symbol. I am wealthy enough to buy high end watches, but I choose to wear quartz watches. My daily rotation consist of a quartz omega golden eye seamaster 2541.80, a quartz omega double eagle gold constellation, a omega seamaster black sword hands 2254, and Seiko sne441. Please convince me to buy a Rolex Explorer 1 or Submariner no date.
