      The M2 chips generating more heat on the performance cores specifically because they have more cache space to crunch data, and the tolerance has been pushed to the 105 Celcius area. The wattage of course comes into play, but Apple needs to adjust its fan curve to these M2 chips with an update for sure. At first I thought it was just the wattage but its really the performance cores getting hotter cause of the ability to crunch more data
      After reviewing certain tasks I do, I can't advise a M2, the SSD bottleneck is too large on the stock or upgraded model. I'd rather wait for m3 or Dragon ryzen cpu's

    This is an excellent comparison. For Lightroom, I suggest that you take a set of photos and combine them in a panorama. For the ultimate test you can Auto Bracketing for each shot. For instance a panorama consisting of 10 photos with Auto Bracketing will merge a total of 30 photos. I would be interested if this was included into your tests as it can be challenging to handle so many RAW photos. A RAW photo from my Nikon Z6 vary from around 30 to 33MB. A camera such as the Z7 will take photos closer to 60 MB each so this could be a good meaningful test for you to perform.

      @surena9451 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tech-geeky I forgot that I even made that comment so had to think back what I meant. I probably was refering to the "silence" in a sense like very low noise of two fans running at idle, which would probably be enough cooling to sustain the higher performance.
      Having a single fan and letting it kick in with a more aggressive curve (or anything earlier than thermal throttling) could have the consequence of more noise while two fans could have the same or better performance at lower or same noise levels, respectively.
      Not to mention, if you have two fans then you also need two sides with a heatsink instead of one. This would directly corelate to more surface area aiding the fans in low RPM low noise scenario. It's easier to remove heat with big surface area than a tiny one, hence why passive coolers are so massive but silent while stock coolers also do the trick with much smaller footprint at the cost of much more noise.

    From a CPU only basis, it seems the M2's performance comes from higher power use rather than any really significant improvement in core design. Nothing here suggests any future M2 based mac (pro/max/ultra) will see a really significant performance boost at all, over M1. GPU is better (but not that much as better M2 performance is also core count driven).
    It doesnt look like there will be any particular general reason to change up from an M1 Mac right now. Better off wating for M3 ?

    Oof. Not a good look for apple. Cripple hammer the m2 13'' on the SSD limits the gains that it could have had to be sure. We all knew this was a "let's use up spare parts" config, but wow, that m1 air for example looks like a massive beast in comparison for the price point for anyone looking for a good basic laptop in the mac environment on the cheap. Im super curious to see what m2pro/max/ultra will bring in the 14/16'' down the line in likely 2023, something tells me that we will continue to be more than happy with our m1pro/max/ultra until at least m3 or even beyond. This is one of those times where "Early adoption" seems to have been a winner to be sure, which is almost never the case with anything. Great video as always guys. Thanks so much!

One question is 512GB storage enough to get 2 chips instead of 1 on the 256GB model you bought? That could be a huge performance reason to buy 512GB storage instead of cheaper 256GB?

With the recent improvements in Microsoft 365 device management for BYOD Mac OS, the base level MacBooks have become the perfect companion device for developers of SAAS and MSPs. Only thing I wish I could do is add more RAM (simply) and that it had LTE. This is why I still prefer to travel with my Surface Pro X (Windows 11 22H2 has made this device come to life).
