    for normal user, the m1 is more valuable and enough powerful as buying the M2 can be a waste of money for them because they cant use the the 100% performance of M2. what do you think about this. for my opinion, the M1 with 16GB ram is more valuable then getting M2 with 8GB ram.

      I think the question of upgrading M1 to M2 is moot as there is likely only a tiny percent that will be doing that. The question is if you are coming from an Intel Mac i it better to pay slightly extra for the M2 MB Pro 13 than the M1 version (whilst still selling)? I would say if the storage and RAM are equal then it is a no brainer to buy the M2 version due to the multiple upgrades. These include encoder/decoder engines, 50% higher bandwith, faster RAM, faster storage, longer battery life, 2 extraa GPU cores meaning 25% improvement, 10/18% single/multi-cor improvements. Hard to think that you would even contemplate the M1.

      Let’s be honest, about 97% of all MacBook users barely do anything taxing on their device, even iPhone users will barely stress their device at all because the processors are just that good. The M1 models are great for the lower price but even so MacBooks are ridiculously expensive to begin with.

    They are both on the Apple Refurbished Store now and I went with the M1 with 16GB of RAM. It ran Portal and Civilization V with Crossover without any issues and can handle everything I throw at it. It was great when it launched and it still is today. I saved about $400 compared to getting the M2 in the same configuration.

    Just looked on the Apple store in the UK: Base level 14” M1 Pro, £1899. M2 13” Pro with 16Gb RAM and 512gb drive (to bring it to the ‘same’ spec) £1749. £150 extra for a better screen, faster chip with more cores, more ports… I think I know what I’d be doing, and it doesn’t involve the M2!

    Your comment about CONTEXT is perfect. If you already own the M1 MBA or MBP, you are probably ecstatic about performance. The incremental change to M2 won't be significant enough unless you didn't "buy it nice" the first time. I love my base MBA (8gb/256) so much because everything (e.g speed, sound, and performance) is a stellar experience. Then that I wanted to run Windows with Parallels for my accounting software. It does okay, but there are times that 8GB isn't ideal for virtualization. I would consider the M2 MBP with 16GB as a replacement option. Of course, I've got more options now and the M2 MBA or 14" MBP are going to make the decision harder.

    Well, I didn’t see anything REALLY NEW in the new MacBooks to justify buying a new one. The M1 MBs do the trick just right, and they’re literally fresh as well. Upgrading just for the sake of it is not my thing, I’ll hold onto my M1 buddy for a couple more years, I think.
    Thanks for the video tho!

    • @andyH_England

      I am surprised that is even a question? How many people upgrade their ultrabooks every 18 months?

    • @dr.dolzur223
      @dr.dolzur223 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@andyH_England Oh, they are in a minority of course. The upgrading I was talking about concerns both the customers and Apple. Buyers shouldn’t be upgrading every year or so, that’s true, and the company shouldn’t release a new device annually. While the “old” version is working like a charm, they could focus on some real development and upgrading.

    • @andyH_England
      @andyH_England 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dr.dolzur223 Yes, it is a catch-22, as research does show that if an individual is looking for an upgrade, their time is here. They are less likely to upgrade to an 18-month-old device than something just released with all the latest components. So, knowing this, OEMs are drawn into that endless cycle of yearly upgrades, afraid that by holding on, they will lose customers. These practices are inevitably driven by demand-side pressures so this is how it is.

    You are raving about the battery, but right from the start, when not in use, the battery of my M1 MacBook Pro is 50% drained. After two weeks, it is completely dead. Wonder if you experience the same. Most people will use their M1 daily, so it will never be tested. I wouldn't be surprised if they all are like that or maybe only the first batch. I've been reading on-line this same issue, Apple replaced logic boards and the issue was still there.

    The M2's GPU is 35 percent faster than that of the M1, according to Apple. But the M1 Pro, with up to 16 GPU cores and way more memory bandwidth, is about twice as fast as the M1. So expect the M1 Pro to still come in around 40 percent faster than the M2.

    Everyone knows that this is what Apple does. They release product with minimal features so you have to buy the "upgraded" one later, if you want the new features, which, chances are, you'll probably want. When the first iPad came out it had no camera, which was ridiculous because it came out during a time when cameras were available on even crappy devices! Apple's no camera move was deliberate because if you wanted a camera, and again, chances are you wanted the camera, then you had to plunk down more money for the upgraded model! This is their operating model...That, and also making these items eventually obsolete. The planned obsolesence is so egregious at this point that its disgusting! This is why I have been moving away from Apple for a while now. I'm tired of being held hostage and forced to buy upgraded models when I have hardware that's in great shape. I take care of my stuff but I still need to replace it and that doesn't seem right. My iPhone 6 Plus, which I still have and use daily, looks absolutely brand new, and it is only crappy because Apple has limited its ability to download apps and has slowed it down significantly. I can no longer pay bills through my phone because my operating system cannot upgrade to the required apps, and it is also running so slow that I will eventually need to replace it. However, I'm not replacing it with another iPhone, this time Samsung gets my money at the next upgrade!

Really. two dedicatee keys to control keyboard illumination? Two dedicated keys to control screen brightness? &c. Who really needs or even wants that? As for RAM. macOS is noticeably happier with 16GB of RAM than it is with 8GB of RAM.

    No mention that new m2 macbook pro 256GB have 50% slower ssd so in real performance in aplication that use ssd, have a lot worse performance than M1 chip. Second M2 chip can up heat to 104 c M1 only 87c when is heavily loaded. So M2 is not perfect and better than last year M1 have slightly more performance not huge deal.

    The M1 Is way better than the M2. M2 is slower and gets hot. whyy. complaint to apple report.

  • @andyH_England
    @andyH_England 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I feel that most people buying the MB Pro 13 M2 will buy the base model, I saw >80% in one report somewhere. So for the vast majority it seems that price is the driver and therefore the MB Pro 14 really does not enter the room as an option. Prosumers will of course go straight to the 14/16 Pro. The MB Pro 13 M2 is an ultrabook at heart, forget the Pro, that is not to be taken literally, it is Apple’s moniker for top of the line (just marketing ergo the iPhone Pro). So the choice if buying Apple for the majority is the M2 Air or Pro 13? Both are priced the same if you have the 10-core GPU variant so it is down to how much you use intensive apps and whether you care about thermals and saving a little time. The upgrades on the Air are pretty superficial, smaller bezels, 1080p webcam, MagSafe (do not need a fast charger as battery is forever), slightly better speakers (I use external speakers) and new design. Hardly life-changing? So, I would def get the MB Pro 13 M2 as the fan looks like it will be useful, the TouchBar is great for me, the studio mics are great and the new ISP makes the 720p webcam (in good light) more than passable.
