Here in my city, we call it pastel de nata or pastel de Belém because instead of cream cheese we usually use "nata" but I don't know the translation lol
I just visited Lisbon and couldn’t stop eating the Pastel de Belém! So good! But these cheese tarts are actually different…they are Hokkaido style Japanese cheese tart and the crust is more like a shortbread and not flaky like pastel de Belém. I know this because when I was in Japan several years ago I bought this style of tart expecting it to be like the Portuguese style tarts in Hong Kong. Totally different but also delicious!! I love them both!!

Try baking both together, you don’t need to bake separately, my mom used to bake them, and she always baked it 3x a week.
