I own a farm with woods and deep ravines in the Missouri Ozarks. I shopped hard and test drove all of the Big Three from Japan, including Mahindra, John Deere, and Kubota. Every one of them was over well $12K (and a few were $15K -$16k+) by the time you added the options of roof, windshield, winch, mirrors, bumpers, etc. I bought the Massimo Knight 700 in 2015 from a Massimo dealer and now have over 750 rough and hard farm work, towing, hauling, and hunting miles. I ripped one tire open on a limestone rock and broke a side mirror in the woods. I maintain it and it is easy to work on. They say it is a Yamaha clone, but I have had no reason to test that claim. The engine is powerful enough to climb some very steep grades with loose rocks here on the farm. My only complaints are the engine is, even with engine slight behind and under the cab, it is noisy. But so were my test drives on the others to one extent or another. I understand the Hondas and Yamahas are much quieter now. My other complaint is that the polycarbonate windshield scratches too easily by tree branches. Mine was well under $10K and I ride it hard and put it away wet. When it is a bucket of bolts I'll scrap it.
A little fun fact for all of you looking into buying this machine... Massimo takes back all of their unsold units at the end of the year from Tractor Supply. If u call the factory in Texas, you can get a "leftover display unit" for $2500 less. I just picked up a 2017 for $5000. You're welcome...
I bought the Hisun 500 in November of 2013. I have literally beat the crap out of this machine ever since! I've been in several states on hunting trips and hauled 100's of animals and hunters out of the woods through ridiculous terrain. I use it on our farm almost daily and it just doesn't quit! I do agree that the low power can be an issue but come on!! I paid $7k for this thing and it has done everything I've asked for years! If you are shopping for or thinking about one of these, buy it. You will not be disappointed. (Or pay twice as much and get the job done 30 seconds faster).
I know these video's are old, but appreciate your time and effort in telling me about your experiences with this brand of UTV, I've read other's opinions on this and they're saying they're junk not to buy them, they over heat and some other issues, but I'm seeing the pros outweigh the cons. And like you, the cost helps. I've priced the other brands, and like you I'm not financing 15k for something like this. Yamaha, Honda,Polaris, Kawasaki. All way over priced, and then you have to pay extra for the accessories like the winch at 1300 bucks, 1500 bucks for different wheels and tires, 350 bucks for the top, etc, I think I'm sold on the Massimo, only the 700 though, it's priced at 8999.00 with free shipping to my front door from Texas within a week. I'm ready for it to get here. Thanks. Sorry for the long winded comment.
Jimbo Edwards thinking about the Buck 400 myself, I have Already called the plant in Texas but still pondering it. I to have looked a others with twice the price for Less options, read the cons to but pretty sure I’ll get one next month, should be OK for N. Floow’da having the 391cc, 400 Buck.
I own one myself from tractor supply I think it’s a awesome machine for the money I have a plow and dot windshield with electric electric from emp in Ohio and also installed a cab heater awesome machine
I have the MSU700 and absolutely love it. Yes some of the plastic parts suck, I caught the front plastic bumper on a limb and cracked it, but other than that, so far so good. I've had no overheating problem that others have complained about. I pull a 170 gallon water trailer with it and have no problems. I've used it to go firewood cutting, pulling a Tractor supply 5x6 trailer, works great. It does use a little bit of oil, but not much, I have noticed no leaks. The wench is great. My biggest complaint is that it has no spare tire. That I will have to remedy shortly.
Great summary! I got my Axis 700 a week ago from Lowes and all checked out except for having no trailer hitch part in stock The only annoying issue is bending like a pretzel to reach cup holders on the center floor so I got 2 bicycles bottle holders and strapped them to bars. Otherwise it’s a great machine and a great reliable workhorse that can do some serious trail riding
MSU 500 here, love it, carry extra fuel injectors, put an inline fuel filter after the first one, on number four now, replaced the plastic skid plates with homemade steel skid plates after the plastic ones only lasted two outings, rock busted through and thankfully only tore up a rubber boot on the cv axle., ran steel slider bars along the entire length of undercarriage. This things had HARD miles and still going strong. 1200 miles so far. Time to replace the tires. Looks like mops with all the plugs. (Slight exaggeration ) did have an overheating issue, flushed the system and used good coolant, no problem with that again. only other thing I had to do was shorten the front bars on the front of the roll cage, I didn't like how the roof tips up in the front.
Ok so I have read and watched plenty of reviews on Massimo Motors. I have come to realize that the majority of reviews are from disgruntle customers. If a consumer is happy with the product they are far less likely to take to a review and say its an awesome product. I myself am an owner of a Massimo Knight 700 2017 model. The only issue I have had was with the muffler exhaust cracking. Massimo Motors replaced the whole muffler free of charge. So like the author of this video I am very pleased with my Massimo purchase. I have a local repair shop who services it and has absolutely no problems with parts. Engine performance has been great with plenty of power to traverse rough terrain and top end speed is more than adequate at 55 MPH. Massimo motor company has treated me with nothing but kindness. Do regular maintenance and run the correct fuel and this machine will reward you. Abuse it and like any other UTV you'll pump money in repairs. As a UTV I would rate it as GOOD. As a UTV for the price I got mine I would rate it EXCELLENT!
My concern other then being a cheap Chinese machine is the plastic floor. I saw another video where running over a small stick shoved it through the floor. This could cause serious injury
I'm getting ready to get a free massimo , my buddy's dad has it and it had transmission troubles and electric troubles and would stay charged. I really don't know all the details yet. I will be picking it up next week.
If you want to spend a little more, buy a Hisun and not a Massimo, as Hisun is better made than any Massimo that I know and they are usually more costly, but you get what you pay for. Had my little Hisun Strike 250 for 3 years and I've never had a problem.
Joey...talking about power..have you though about doing the clutch and sheave mods.?.looks to be pretty straightforward average mechanical abilities to do those mods..and a few youtube tutorials on here
THE ONLY CON YOU LEFT OUT WAS THE FIRST STYLE WINDSHEILD WITH THE SEAM IN YOUR FIELD OF VIEW. I SEE THAT YOU HAVE UPGRADED TO A BETTER WINDSHEILD.I STILL LOVE MINE
I bought an 06 Rhino a few months ago and although it’s old, it’s a damn unit. I was walking out of Lowes and started looking at the new ones they had and realized that it’s a clone. The running gear is an exact duplicate and a lot of parts, minus engine parts, are interchangeable. If I were to buy a new one, it’d probably be a knock off. The guy that designed these supposedly sold the plans to the Chinese right before his patent expired
You said the power going up hill was not that great I changed my cvs belt gates G force 29G3596 help a little. Better than stock has more grab on amazon for 40 bucks if that helps you
Should of gotten the Kawasaki teryx, i have seen them loaded with 4 people climbing straight up insane hills!!! Plus the kawasaki strong 3 year warranty!!!!
My friend had one for couple of years but he never notice how to use it. Now looks like the 4WD not working, can u check when you push the 4WD button , and display on dashboard? Thanks.
@@JoeyFerrisMusic Oh sorry, I mean is there some light on for 4WD working? I push the switched only got a "LOCK 4WD" light blinking, but in normal 4WD nothing happened. And no 4WD when stuck in the mud, have to check what's wrong with it.
all side by sides are loud if you dont do things to help with that and you def shouldve gotten a 700 i also live in the mts and i find it hard to believe if you put it in low range it runs out of power going up any size hill i have a 700 rhino clone and my buddy has a 700 rhino if it wasnt fpr the badges you cant tell them apart in anyway!! now if i was going to use a side by side to just ride around i would prolly get anything but a rhino clone or any other designed more for power not speed!

If you didn''t stick to engine oil safe for wet clutches initially, you absolutely should change. regular, gas engine, motor oil, has certain lubricants that will glaze the glutch in your utv, because the clutch is in oil
I had to leave the top off to get mine home in my trailer....I Thought it would be simple to bolt on....NOT...the thing seriously did not fit without fleing/bending to line up boo on points ....took leverage tools and two men swearing to hammer that bad boy on! POOR QC at hisun ....windshield mounts I broke one trying to put on and gave up...rubber was too thick and hisun customer service was beyond awful...."care less"....they made it so miserable with back and forth communications that I just gave up....I recommend spending more money and buying from a much higher quality company like Yamaha....Life is too short just to save a couple dollars and have to deal with poor excuses for human beings

Wow yes I got one and love it
They make lots of parts for other domestic ones. I think it's an awesome machine
Well well worth the money
Enjoyed all your videos on the Massimo, hope you post some more and let us know how it's holding up.
Sold it 1.5 years ago, but it was great till then.
My concern other then being a cheap Chinese machine is the plastic floor. I saw another video where running over a small stick shoved it through the floor. This could cause serious injury
I followed your experience with this and got one! thanks
Now after a year, how is the maintenance?
Please do a video after you have 300 hours on the machine to tell us what breaks?

Did you do the power bump electronic module? Supposed to up power 15% really easy to install
Never heard of it
I'm getting ready to get a free massimo , my buddy's dad has it and it had transmission troubles and electric troubles and would stay charged. I really don't know all the details yet. I will be picking it up next week.
Did you use low when climbing the steep hills?
I just got the 2017 Hisun 500 blue in colour, have had it for 2 months, for the price I paid, I will not complain. So far so good.
Don't forget to change oil at 100 hours
Whats the number for the factory in TEXAS im looking to buy a UTV
Love the new window. I want one like that... what that set you back?
They are on eBay for about $300, but I just kept complaining to Massimo until I got this one free
what year is yours
A year later, how well is it holding up?
Really well
If you want to spend a little more, buy a Hisun and not a Massimo, as Hisun is better made than any Massimo that I know

Hisun and massimo are the same unit made in same factory with the same interchangeable parts
How did you get the tilt out front window?
Looking at the Buck 400 right now, I will get it straight from the Texas plant .
Hello Rob did you get a Massimo buck 400?
I'm curious. How well has this machine held up in 4 years??
Sold it in 2020

Have you done any mods to make it faster like the governor
Sold it
What is the top speed? Great video, thanks
About 35mph
Ever adjusted the valves
No
And how is it now 2021?
Sold

Sold it last year
Can you swap jug and piston on 500 Massimo to 700 or are the blocks different?
I have no idea, sorry
good thinkin brother
Glad you are happy! I can tell you like it, Every time you guys are on it you have a big smile. Nice review! Question, Dose it have a dump body?
Yes.
Yes, the bed dumps
Thanks for the videos. Just picked up a Cub Cadet 500 Challenger (same machine) 2016 with 26 hours. A little light on power but still a lot of fun.

Yeah it's loud when driving, I thought I covered that... I'm working on sound proofing
I hope I have as good of luck with mine👍
Did it have trouble now that you have had it for a year?
@@iowaunemployment No, I have had it 17 months zero issues. I love it 👍
mine was $8k out the door with taxes and everything a couple years ago now,,so that was probably about $7k or so before anything added

i have a 16 challenger 700 and currently having 4wd problems. anyone else have issues.
Should of gotten the Kawasaki teryx, i have seen them loaded with 4 people climbing straight up insane hills!!! Plus the kawasaki strong 3 year warranty!!!!
Twice the price
Twice the price and transmission is terrible
what do you mean trans is terrible? lol I know a couple guys with teryx's and zero problems?
Up here in Michigan, you can get a new 2017 teryx for a bit over 11.5K
Eats the belts. No way to avoid it because of design so those couple u know don't ride much or are getting close to a failure
Hisun makes a lot of parts for the more expensive brands including engines for John Deere
Another good video.

Yamaha>>>>everything
I like the massimo 500 the best because it's a rhino clone and they where pretty tuff for the most part
Massimo is not a Hisun, Linhai currently manufactures the engines and most other parts for Massimo's line of utility vehicles
No not really just got take your time there is a good detail video on TH-cam cvs on a hisun
