Great video, Joe. One thing I learned with my Massimo 550 is to let the EFI cycle first. In other words, turn the ignition one click, let the tack cycle up and down, when the tack is back down, the fuel has been injected. I noticed in a few of your videos it sounds like it takes a second or two to turn over. Let the machine cycle first, then turn over. It will save your starter in the long run.
People like to rag on value machines. I get it. But I have some name brand machines and call it like I see it. This sxs should be well over $10k. Nice machine!
All about maintenance. I know folks that bury atv’s in mud and then switch brands because their prior swamped machine was a “lemon”. Lol. Would be hard for a manufacturer to put out junk and still sell them years later.
Have had mine for four months and have nothing to say that is negative. Reading the manual is helpful. My one disappointment is the long length of breakin (50 hours) before you are supposed to pull loads. (Manual, p 9-1). Other than that, I am more than pleased with this rig for working around the pastures fixing fences and cleaning irrigation ditches, and for just an enjoyable ride. Thanks for this review, now I know to check with my local Yamaha shop for maintenance!
Thanks for sharing. You are wise to follow the break in period…but it isn’t gospel. After 10-20 hours, I’d change the oil and do what needed to get done within reason. I also think its for cvt wear. Just be sure to be in Low when towing something heavy. Will extend the belt life. Thanks for watching!
What up Joe! It was really nice meeting you today. And, I’ve got the TBoss 550. It does a great job for us out on the farm. Taking that plastic off the windshield was definitely super annoying though. I did replace the headlights with LEDs. That made a huge difference.
Hey Man!!! Great meeting you too! Had a great time at the show brother. Appreciate you hanging with such a motley crew! Lol. The TBoss has been great so far! Only time will tell but super happy so far. Keep in touch brother!
I’ve owned my 550 T Boss for just about a year now and I’m pretty happy with it so far. My primary use has been for hunting and helping with chores. My biggest disappointment has been with the trailer hitch receiver. I attached a Hitch Haul to the receiver and loaded up my buck. I live about a mile from where I hunt and when I got home, I noticed the receiver hitch had bent down and my Hitch Haul was almost dragging on the ground. I researched the load rating for the tongue weight and it’s only 25lbf. No wonder it bent. Anyway, I will be reinforcing the receiver for next years hunt. I enjoyed your review on the T Boss and looking forward to future videos. You do an excellent job!
25lbs? Should be at least 120lbs if we go what what car manufactures do, 10% of the tow rating. 25lbs is useless. My CFMoto Cforce 500 can two about 800lbs and the hitch looks very beefy. I have towed heavier loads and the hitch looks perfect.
Thank for sharing. Do you live in a hilly area? I think for us I wouldn’t want less than the 550. We should be getting to test the new 1000 cc machine that is coming out soon. I can’t wait to try that on our hills!!! Thanks for watching!
Great review Joe. I own 2 Polaris units, 1 gas and 1 EC, I have owned Polaris units for over 20 yrs. I believe I paid almost 3x that amount for my Polaris 1000. I think you presented a great review and if I were in the market for a smaller unit I would look at them. Thanks, Bob
Thanks Bob! Polaris makes a GREAT machine. My buddy @kapperoutdoors has a REALLY nice xp1000 and I would love to have one of those! The HVAC for me would be a life saver in the hot summer. There is a place for these Massimo machines. I have really enjoyed tooling around the farm on it! Such a smooth ride and really fun to drive. Appreciate you watching my friend!!!
My friend has a 2015 400 sxs we trail ride and hunt it has been flawless and does great in 4x4 in light trail mud.Im a quad fan right now but would not hesitate to buy a Missumo great video stay safe and blessed
My concern would be a parts availability and service. A lot of these ATV / UTV's Outlets do not like to work on something that they haven't sold.. but it looks like a decent machine & affordable!
That’s the number one question I get. But they have built out networks of service centers. Some areas will have more than others; but they are out there. Solid machine so far!!!
I had one of these for years and put 6,000 miles on it never a problem. Mine was $8,000 from tractor supply drove it on every trail ,D.D. Gas station dump

100% agree. But the hard plastic ones at least come on the machine. I just priced out a Honda regarding another comment and Honda charges $245 for the A arm guards. They can for sure be replaced with beefier protection, but better than nothing. 🤷🏻♂️

Thank you Rik, appreciate you watching. It really has been a great machine. Haven't had an issue. I think it would be great for what you need it for and at the price it's hard to beat. I would look into the kolpin racks for your "pew pew's". Works like a charm.
Hey Buddy! It's actually a similar wheel base to the smaller bighorn. The cabin is just bigger. But it really is a nice ride! The BigHorn 400 is a Linhai machine too so there are a lot of similarities!
I was wondering when you were going to do a review on it. I almost bought one because I like the size and looks and I have watched other reviews kind of a mixed bag but most still like it. 👍
Great video/review! Hell I’m all pumped up to go look at one tomorrow now!! Really looks like a great high quality and value machine. My company does/builds all their distribution centers and have for years around the country. They are really solid folks especially at the corporate management levels. I do have a Polaris Northstar 1000 machine but I for sure see a ton of value in a smaller and very capable ATV machine. 👍👍🔥🔥great video!
What is your opinion on the build quality of the tboss vs the coleman(hisun)? They are sooo compairable, i got a hisun but i just felt them both (tractor supply and rural king respectivly) and felt the tboss felt a little cheaper, but i kinda wondered if it was just me,… i assume you can feel them side by side(lol) of each other…
I guess i never really concluded, i felt for farm use, the bed in particular on the tboss seemed MUCH weaker than the hisun, even though the capacitys were close…
TBoss is just a much smaller machine with the same power. It's more compact and narrow, whereas the hisun is a bull in a China shop! Lol. I love the Hisun man. I have done things with it that would void any warranty. Ran over trees, saplings, brush, rocks, etc. It just comes back for more. The Massimo is a tighter machine. Assembled flawlessly and well appointed. May do the same, but it's just too nice to abuse (yet!). Time will tell, but I think the "big" manufacturers are nervous for good reason. Make no mistake about it...they are losing a TON of sales to these value machines. And it's not because the value machines are junk. Thanks for watching!
Yeah the service on my Polaris Ranger 700 is much easier than my Honda Rancher 4 wheeler . Both are 20 years old . And the Ranger is wayyy more comfortable lol
I bought one of these 550's recently to replace my Polaris Ranger - that I've had constant problems with for the last 9 years. Yes, Polaris was almost 3X the price. I've had my 550 for 5 months now, and I'm super pleased with it. For the money, I don't think you can beat it. I'm down on paying for a high priced name plate!
@timbinman Hey Tim! I hear Polaris is really hit or miss. But I guess thats all machines. We have been running the 550 all over the place and it hasbeen a solid machine. Only complaint is the same I have with all machines. Want more power! Lol. Thanks for watching!
Hey Tim! I still do have the Coleman! It's an absolute workhorse. I keep flirting with selling it but just can't pull the trigger. The Coleman is a much larger machine and very no frills. The Massimo is FAR more refined and overall just a tighter machine. Though I am a huge fan of the Coleman, the Massimo is more comfortable to drive, quieter and smoother steering.
In the market for a UTV to be used in our 18 acres. This machines look good paper not sure how would hold up. I went to the Massimo website and looked at their warranty and they seem to not cover much. Essentially you are on your own. It does seem that they carry parts and that's a plus.
@@JoeTheFarmer By the way, your property is amazingly beautiful. Our property is probably tiny in comparison, only 18 acres but we love it. We are working on a trail for our ATV and hopefully a UTV. Next year we are hoping to finally finish our pond to stock it.
I think for stalls the size of the Massimo would be more nimble. But the BigHorn will hold more weight. The BH is a much larger machine. Just know the cab on any machine makes the machine much louder.
Hey Jim. We don’t get a lot of snow so no need for us to have one. But I know Massimo sells one that fits the unit on their website. Thanks for watching!
Looking to buy one of these cheaper SXS, my day's of going fast are probably behind me.. I want something to drive around the neighborhood, I live in the Northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan.. Plenty of 2 tracks, and dirt roads. My question is the topspeed? If it doesn't do 50MPH I would be disappointed?!
I doubt it will do 50. Pretty sure 40-45 would be max at this cc. They do make a 750 thats identical that would probably pass 50mph. But boy thats FAST! Appreciate you watching!
I had a 2020 Atv 400Atv 4wd bought within 400 miles done put another gear shifter and water pump.Had enough Chinese crap but maybe there is a few good ones out there. But is it worth taking a chance or just paying more upfront
I think like all things, not all manufacturers are equal. Linhai has had a relationship with Yamaha and they build thousands of machines with a great reputation. I’m not saying it’s going to replace the Honda or Kawasaki in someone’s garage…but for most folks that want a machine that isn’t clapped out and has a warranty, looks good and has all the accessories included its hard to argue with. I think Linhai and CF Moto are giving a lot of premium brands headaches. They are solid machines for far less money.
No issues at all. Some quirks like all machines, but it's more safety feature things. i.e. Have to go back to N before it will start. Overall, I like this machine a lot.
I just bought a new 550 and was driving around the property for the first time. On a downhill slope the engine/cvt don't hold the vehicle back. Is there a way to slow the atv without standing on the brakes?
@@JoeTheFarmer I got the Boss 550 side by side. Our property here in Colorado is mostly hills and a steep driveway for part of it. I tried going down the driveway in low and it went was freewheeling. Am I doing something wrong? I have owned and ridden many motorcycles, mostly dirt bikes, over the years, but this is my first side by side. We have an old Honda trx 300 that took a while to get used to also.
@@JoeTheFarmer Thanks for the replies. Two things I forgot to mention, great videos, I think I've watched most of them, and the transmission is a cvt. Don't know if that matters. I hope I'm not being too much of a pest.
Hey, thanks for the kind words. Appreciate it! And I was on the machine yesterday and it didn't freewheel. In low seemed to go downhill really well. Not like an engine brake, but smooth. CVT doesn't have engine braking (I think!) so I just put er in low.
I'VE HAD THE SAME MENTAL GYMNASTICS EVALUATING UP AND COMING BRANDS VS NAME BRANDS. I'LL BE LOOKING HARDER AT THE UP AND COMERS. BESIDES; MY DAYS OF GOING FAST AND HEAVING HEAVY THINGS IN TO A SXS BED ARE DONE. THANKS.
You can get the Honda pioneer 520 for the same price. This may be more decked out than the Honda, but in 10 years this will be in the junk yard while the Honda will still run like new.
Not arguing that Honda makes fantastic machines...we own them. They are excellent machines. But I just built out the Honda 520 on their website and without doors (they don't offer hard doors) the price comes to $13,564.92 plus a destination charge of $685. That's a total of $14,249.92. With all due respect, not the same price. The Massimo is far less expensive (saves $4,350.92), but offers hard ABS doors and a camo finish (not offered on the 520). Again, not arguing that Honda's are awesome. But the Massimo is a really good price compared to what else is out there.
I have a ten-year-old Massimo 700 on my farm and for the $9k I paid for it, I have no complaints. I use it and abuse it and make it go places it has no business going through. All the other manufacturers charge extra for roofs, windshields winches, and bumpers. I got all that for just under $9 grand (ok, I bought it new in 2014). For the price, I thought I'd give it a try. The only thing I have ever done to it is add an LED light bar. I climb steep rocky ravines and tow a 5x10 work trailer every now and then. I did break a mirror in the woods and followed that by backing into a tree and cracking a tail light lens. It doesn't go on the paved road and that explains why the tires aren't worn out. It probably has the same air they put in it in China. Its 4x4 locker is an absolute necessity while climbing steep trails and the only option I would consider on a new one is power steering. It will be on this farm until it is a bucket of bolts. Good luck with yours Joe...
Thanks For the true honest opinion, I am way past just going fast! I want a machine I can enjoy on the weekends, but use everyday around the yard.. honestly the heaviest load I would carry would be my snowmobile trailer or my Ski boat that I have to take 300yrds to the Lake!
Hey! Not sure, I would reach out to Massimo to be sure its done right. For what its worth, my son just turned 12 and drives it all over. Not what its made for, but if they grow up around it and respect it, can be a nice tool. Thanks for watching and good luck!
I’m looking for something that I can once a year or so move some sand with a blade. The rest of the time is 5-7 miles at a time. no real offroad, 25-30 mph. If it wasn’t for the stupid sand I’d be looking for a fastish golf cart.
This would be a great option. Mostly because it's a light machine with 4wd. They have a snow plow option online that may fit the bill. Thanks for watching!
Hey Billy! They are built by Hisun so it's basically a Coleman/RK/Etc machine with a larger engine and cooler tires. We had a Coleman and I loved it. Sold it cheap to a friend that uses it daily.
Bought new T boss 750 in 2021 they look good have lots of extras that don’t do u any good if ther broke down and in shop more than u use it warranty compared to Joe Biden
I bought a 700 Honda pioneer just for Hunting if I had it to do over I would never have bought a Honda their warranty SUCKS Statesville Honda would not fix it took it to Wilkes would not fix it I had a bad break problem
Sorry to hear that man. I have always been a fan of Honda; but haven't had to deal with warranty work (all out of warranty when I bought them). Hopefully you get it resolved and that machine treats you well. Oh, and any luck hunting? You're speaking my language brother!!! Thanks for watching!
Be aware - you are responsible to transport your T-Boss for warranty service. Tractor Supply is not a repair shop -- other sellers that may provide warranty service may not service your unit. I've had mine for about a week, and it's got parts falling off, less than 50 miles. This doesn't keep the vehicle from working, but what is going to fall off next. Warranty service is 60 miles away and say, 'bring it in, they'll get to it in a few weeks.'
We haven’t had any issues and it’s been worked hard. Sorry you had that experience, what fell off?! Also, every machine I own (tractor, skid steer, etc) with warranties do not cover transportation. If the new skid steer has a warranty issue, I pay to transport it or trailer it.
after the second engine went out they whould not warranty it massimo hung up the phone on me refuse to help took me 6 months to get tractor supply to give me my money back and calling every week massimo refuse to help finely tractor supply did only after the service guy they recommended said it was not my fault run they are junk bought a polaris in 2018 no problem have got 700 hrs on it
lol a what should be a 500 with a 550 badge? I understand rounding 496 cc to call a 500. But what! A company who legit is lying in your face is someone I dont think is good. Plain Jane through a complete lie directly first thing in your face action lie! No but trust me this is good? Yup not going there.
So is a Ford F150 100 or 150 hp? Or a Silverado 2500 “2500 cc’s?” You don’t HAVE to buy anything brother. Go buy a Honda Rancher. Its 420cc’s, but spoiler alert. Doesn’t come with a Ranch or make you a rancher. Lol
If you are serious with the f150 is 1/2 ton f250 is 3/4 ton and f350 is 1 ton and silverado 1500 is 1/2 ton and 2500 is 3/4 ton and 3500 is 1 ton. If it all stays the same then I can figure it out. But cant figure out what companies are saying a 550 is actually a 496. And I am no into getting a atv but maybe another sxs idk but thanks for pointing that out. And I dont mean any disrespect at all. Maybe it came out that way but nothing but props to you!

I think for stalls the size of the Massimo would be more nimble. But the BigHorn will hold more weight. The BH is a much larger machine. Just know the cab on any machine makes the machine much louder.
Joe, what brand of plow fits this unit?
Just got ranger570. Midsize. 11500.00. With a 567cc.
That's awesome! Congrats on the new machine. Should serve you well for a long time. Thanks for watching!
Does this one have the transmission binder that reduces friction and band drive with that traction belt through all the gears on it?
Brother, sorry but I don’t know the answer to that
I had a 2020 Atv 400Atv 4wd bought within 400 miles done put another gear shifter and water pump.Had enough Chinese crap but maybe there is a few good ones out there.
They are solid machines for far less money.
i had one had two engines go out with only 50 hrs
Dang man. That stinks
Any issues with it yet cause I am paying close attention to the t boss 560
No issues at all. Some quirks like all machines, but it's more safety feature things. i.e. Have to go back to N before it will start. Overall, I like this machine a lot.
Can you seat 3 in the cab?
Depends on the people; but two of me would be very spacious. Three of me would work, but I wouldn’t want to do it long. Lol
That hill reminds me of Charlotte, Tennessee area.
Tennessee is one of the most beautiful states in the country. Especially when it greens up some
@@JoeTheFarmer yup. My family lives in Charlotte, but I've driven all over the state.
Who builds this machine?
Massimo builds in it TX; parts from China.
I just bought a new 550 and was driving around the property for the first time. On a downhill slope the engine/cvt don't hold the vehicle back. Is there a way to slow the atv without standing on the brakes?
So you got the atv or the side by side? If you are in low it will slow you down
@@JoeTheFarmer I got the Boss 550 side by side.
@JustMe-cg4vp hard to tell without being there. When its new it has to break in the gears so just be sure its in low. Shouldn’t freewheel
How load is it?
Compared to other 400cc machines it's not very loud. The comparable BigHorn machine is much louder.
THANKS.
Thanks for watching and good luck!
Wrong
Fanboy
Can it be governed down? My mother in law just bought one for our 12 yr old granddaughter. Not a decision i was a part of, unfortunately
Hey! Not sure, I would reach out to Massimo to be sure its done right. For what its worth, my son just turned 12 and drives it all over. Not what its made for, but if they grow up around it and respect it, can be a nice tool. Thanks for watching and good luck!
Gas pedal?
Yep. Has a gas pedal. Comfortable setup.
@@JoeTheFarmer I’m seeing that lowes has the axis 700 on sale for 9k currently. Very tempting.
Built by Hisun. We had a Coleman Sector 550 and it was great. Not sure about the newer Hisun's.
Stick with Honda and you’ll be money ahead and happy
Thanks for watching.
Do you know anything about Bad Boy UTV side by side or any body know how they hole up
Hey Billy! They are built by Hisun so it's basically a Coleman/RK/Etc machine with a larger engine and cooler tires. We had a Coleman and I loved it. Sold it cheap to a friend that uses it daily.
i just bought a used 2022 tboss 550 on the title it says massy fergason
Yikes. Who’s the seller?!? Lol
@@JoeTheFarmer bought it from a individual enjoyed the review
Bought new T boss 750 in 2021 they look good have lots of extras that don’t do u any good if ther broke down and in shop more than u use it warranty compared to Joe Biden
Time will tell on this one. Sorry you had a bad experience. Did you ever get it fixed? What went wrong?
What state are you in?
Tennessee
It’s beautiful there!
Thank you! We love it. Beautiful seasons.
I hate it does not come with a wireless winch ......easy fix though.
I haven’t gotten it stuck yet!
Can I have it I really want it
No. But you can buy one at TSC! Lol
If the new skid steer has a warranty issue, I pay to transport it or trailer it.
after the second engine went out they whould not warranty it massimo hung up the phone on me refuse to help took me 6 months to get tractor supply to give me my money back and calling every week massimo refuse to help finely tractor supply did only after the service guy they recommended said it was not my fault run they are junk bought a polaris in 2018 no problem have got 700 hrs on it
What year TBoss was it? A new one or a 18' model? Glad TSC took care of you. Sorry to hear that!
2017@@JoeTheFarmer
Country view acres send me to your channel.
Welcome! I appreciate you coming by. Evan is a great friend and I appreciate him sharing our story. Keep in touch!
@@JoeTheFarmer Amen.
1 its not a honda
2 its not a yamaha
I’ve owned both. And I am not brand loyal at all. Its been a great machine; especially for almost half the price
You will never convince me to buy anything outside of Honda or Yamaha!
Not trying to convince anyone of anything my friend. Everyone is free to make their own decisions buddy.
lol a what should be a 500 with a 550 badge? I understand rounding 496 cc to call a 500. But what! A company who legit is lying in your face is someone I dont think is good. Plain Jane through a complete lie directly first thing in your face action lie! No but trust me this is good? Yup not going there.
So is a Ford F150 100 or 150 hp? Or a Silverado 2500 “2500 cc’s?” You don’t HAVE to buy anything brother. Go buy a Honda Rancher. Its 420cc’s, but spoiler alert. Doesn’t come with a Ranch or make you a rancher. Lol
Not to be bad to you Joe the farmer. Still like and already subbed.
@rabbithomesteading3797 All good man. I don’t get the names either.
@@JoeTheFarmer lol its all messed up.
It is still better than the Colman piece of crap they used to carry. The colman is just underpowered and shift cable is useless.
Man I love the 550! The 400 not so much; but the Coleman 550 is an anvil.
The winch appears to be to lowest point of the vehicle. That renders it useless off road.
🤦🏻♂️
Waste of money
Why???
Hunk of junk.....buy a C F Moto instead
Some Massimo machines have CF Moto engines.
@@JoeTheFarmer THE CF MOTO MACHINES ARE BUILT TO A MUCH HIGHER QUALITY STANDARD THAN MASSIMO
Not sure about that. Never operated a cf moto. But have heard good things.
Polaris ranger i have 3 of them a 2007 2022 2024 the best
Polaris makes a great machine. Pricey, but you get what you pay for. The Massimo has still been flawless...but time will tell.
