I love the energy and aggressiveness conveyed by almost all Jinjer songs, contrasting with beautiful soft sections within the same tracks. You will find that a lot in their music. Also the complexity of some of their songs, Vortex is a good example of those, very progressive, without any chorus but transitioning from parts to parts with genius. And their sound is great, tight and precise drums, every musician has his place in the mix without overshadowing the others. Also they like to incorporate other genres into their metal sometimes, you'll discover that if you listen to more of them!
I have been a Jinjer fan about 6 years now, yes the screams are all her, Tatiana is a world class growler. There are probably a handful of female front women who can switch between screams and cleans as well as she can. Jinger is a progressive metal band that uses jazz as a foundation for many of their songs. The group produces music that can be unpredictable. A Jinjer song can be very much like a thrill ride.
Vortex is kind of supposed to be chaotic just like the video. They tend to do that with songs. Everything about the song is about what it's about to one extent or another. Vortex is about being sucked into a vortex of despair and confusion and Pisces is about the duality of being Pisces. Their song Perennial is about seasonal depression so evokes emotion throughout the song until the end when the winter goes away and spring comes, everything rises again.

That is 100% Tatiana! She has such voice control that has taken her so long to perfect and she just belts it out. No voice manipulation except a few harmony parts that is also her 100%. Jinjer is an amazing live band - I have seen them 3 times - and their best performances are onstage, where they live. Check out Perennial live at Whacken 2019, Pit of Consciousness live in Kiev and Who Is going To Be The One live OMV for great examples of the talent that Jinjer possesses and displays to the fans. Tatiana is quite the impressive front-woman also! Judgement (and Punishment) one take vocal is great to see Tatiana just stand there and deliver her unique vocals. 🤘

I'm glad that you've discovered Jinjer, the whole band are excellent, but of course Tatiana is an amazing vocalist. They're a band from the Ukraine, the members are: Tatiana is the Vocalist, Roman on Guitar, Eugene is the Bassist, Vlad is the Drummer. Other tracks by them which I suggest you react to are: "Perennial" live at Wacken Open Air Festival from 2019, "Judgement (and Punishment)" Tatiana's One-Take Vocal version, "Teacher Teacher" the official music video, "Just Another" the official music video, "Who is Going to Be The One" live, "Call Me a Symbol" the official music video, "On the Top" and "Pit of Consciousness" both live in Kiev, There are plenty of other tracks but these are good ones to continue with. Tatiana primarily uses a harsh vocal technique that is toneless, meaning none of her singing voice comes through on it. It sounds insanely low, but if done properly, everyone could do exactly the same thing. That’s why it all sounds like it’s the same low note. Will Ramos in Lorna Shore also does this technique a lot (albeit interchanged with other high and low tonal techniques).
Check out Tatiana's lyrics as you further your Jinjer journey. Tati weaves some great poetry into them that you may miss between the singing screaming and growls
They double-tracked the growls in Pisces which fills out the sound a bit and also makes it a bit more disturbing. Perennial at Wacken, Judgement & Punishment one take, and Teacher Teacher official are some great next steps with Jinjer.
Listen to Vortex a few more times, Juliett. Jinjer songs reward multiple listens. Pisces is one of their most easily-digestible songs, which is why it's one of my least favorite by them. :) They'll make you a better music fan. Keep going! Subbed. :)
@@JuliettJess- Each part of Vortex is different and it's never repeated again throughout the song. Not having a standard structure (intro, verse, chorus, bridge, etc) was probably what threw you off. Don't worry, it happens to most first-time listeners. 😄 With this in mind, the next time you listen to it you'll start to grasp the concept of the song and how each different part flows into the next to form a whole.
Vortex is a purely progressive song. Never repeats except the "light" interlude before the end repeats the intro guitar theme. Otherwise, it is written kind of like a classical piece of music with different movements. Also the confusing nature of the song is also enhanced by Tati's lyrics which is about getting devastated by the gravity of intrusive dark thoughts. One of my favorites.
Great reaction! So glad you checked out Jinjer. Tatiana is one of the best pure growlers out there and is better than most men. There is a never ending conversation on Tati vs Courtney which is unfair given that both of these ladies are so incredible! I would check out "Judgement and Punishment" one take and "Teacher, Teacher" which showcases Jinjer's groovy genre bends. Also take a look at "Holy Roller" and "Cellar Door" by Spiritbox if you want to see Courtney's heavy side. Lastly for something different check out "We Love Sweets" by Hanabie, an all girl J-Metal band. Yukina, like the other ladies is another great contrasty female vocalist. Hope to see more soon

Courtney and Mike are great with Spiritbox. Been following them since they took over iwrestledabearonce from Krysta Cameron. But...and it's a big but, it ain't Jinjer. Prog metal built around jazz, ska, punk and reggae...it's musical flavortown with double the MSG. Btw, Vortex is considered kind of mainstream metal level for them. No two Jinjer songs sound alike, but you always know it's Jinjer.
Nice reaction. One thing about Jinjer is they are never ever boring. If you think they will zig they zag. The guys often write complex music and Tati writes deep meaningful poetry that just flows perfectly with it. Not to distract you from Jinjer but If you don’t know them already I would highly recommend the band Unleash the Archers. Start with their full band play through of “Awakening”. It's still all Tati, just layers added after to fill things out :) Tati's female vocalist icons are 'Gwen Stefani' and 'Amy Whinehouse' - you can definitely hear the influence of Gwen in her cleans. For her growls, she was inspired by 'Otep Shamaya' Jinjer still add some subtle backing layers in their live performances. Sasha Kardanov helps with this. He is their live sound engineer & technical director, and considered the 5th member of the band. Doing the video for Vortex first, is the reason you are unsure. You have to work your way to it. Many started with Pisces, so by the time you get to Vortex you will be absolutely sure, it’s a great Jinger song. After I saw the Vortex video the first time I didn’t know how they could pull that off live on stage. There is a video of Jinger performing Vortex on stage. It was absolutely perfect!

Vortex is prog-Metal, many Jinjer songs have unique and changing time signatures. Once you catch them it elevates the song to another level, at least to prog fans. By the way Pisces is an astrological sign you kept calling it Pieces.
Wowsers you don’t take the easy way to listen to Jinjer, Vortex is a bit wild, it’s about chaos that could happen in a hurricane 😂 Pieces is usually the first one to ease you in, but One take Judgement and Punishment is easier on a first time listener! In Pieces the drum clicks before the first harsh vocal is like a ticking time bomb 😂, it’s usual for reactors to stop when the clicks start and say how nice she sings and then 🤯🤯🤯 Subscribed to see if we can help you find some really cool music! Edit: I did mention on your Spiritbox video a couple of days ago about a band called The Warning, they are really good and very different from Jinjer, more old school rock with a modern twist. Vortex is a tough first listen. It's an odd song structure with no verse or chorus. The more you here it, the better it gets. One of my favorites is Cloud Factory live.

Also they like to incorporate other genres into their metal sometimes, you'll discover that if you listen to more of them!
Starting to get to know Jinjer with Vortex is extreme, of course.
It is! I had no idea what I was getting into but everyone recommended it so I went full force 😂
I have been a Jinjer fan about 6 years now, yes the screams are all her, Tatiana is a world class growler. There are probably a handful of female front women who can switch between screams and cleans as well as she can. Jinger is a progressive metal band that uses jazz as a foundation for many of their songs. The group produces music that can be unpredictable. A Jinjer song can be very much like a thrill ride.
Vortex is kind of supposed to be chaotic just like the video. They tend to do that with songs. Everything about the song is about what it's about to one extent or another. Vortex is about being sucked into a vortex of despair and confusion and Pisces is about the duality of being Pisces. Their song Perennial is about seasonal depression so evokes emotion throughout the song until the end when the winter goes away and spring comes, everything rises again.

That is 100% Tatiana! She has such voice control that has taken her so long to perfect and she just belts it out. No voice manipulation except a few harmony parts that is also her 100%.
Jinjer is an amazing live band - I have seen them 3 times - and their best performances are onstage, where they live.

Tatiana primarily uses a harsh vocal technique that is toneless, meaning none of her singing voice comes through on it. It sounds insanely low, but if done properly, everyone could do exactly the same thing. That’s why it all sounds like it’s the same low note. Will Ramos in Lorna Shore also does this technique a lot (albeit interchanged with other high and low tonal techniques).

They double-tracked the growls in Pisces which fills out the sound a bit and also makes it a bit more disturbing. Perennial at Wacken, Judgement & Punishment one take, and Teacher Teacher official are some great next steps with Jinjer.
Listen to Vortex a few more times, Juliett. Jinjer songs reward multiple listens. Pisces is one of their most easily-digestible songs, which is why it's one of my least favorite by them. :) They'll make you a better music fan. Keep going! Subbed. :)

@@JuliettJess- Each part of Vortex is different and it's never repeated again throughout the song. Not having a standard structure (intro, verse, chorus, bridge, etc) was probably what threw you off. Don't worry, it happens to most first-time listeners. 😄
With this in mind, the next time you listen to it you'll start to grasp the concept of the song and how each different part flows into the next to form a whole.
Vortex is a purely progressive song. Never repeats except the "light" interlude before the end repeats the intro guitar theme. Otherwise, it is written kind of like a classical piece of music with different movements. Also the confusing nature of the song is also enhanced by Tati's lyrics which is about getting devastated by the gravity of intrusive dark thoughts. One of my favorites.
Great reaction! So glad you checked out Jinjer. Tatiana is one of the best pure growlers out there and is better than most men. There is a never ending conversation on Tati vs Courtney which is unfair given that both of these ladies are so incredible! I would check out "Judgement and Punishment" one take and "Teacher, Teacher" which showcases Jinjer's groovy genre bends. Also take a look at "Holy Roller" and "Cellar Door" by Spiritbox if you want to see Courtney's heavy side. Lastly for something different check out "We Love Sweets" by Hanabie, an all girl J-Metal band. Yukina, like the other ladies is another great contrasty female vocalist. Hope to see more soon

But...and it's a big but, it ain't Jinjer. Prog metal built around jazz, ska, punk and reggae...it's musical flavortown with double the MSG.
Btw, Vortex is considered kind of mainstream metal level for them.
No two Jinjer songs sound alike, but you always know it's Jinjer.

Nice reaction. One thing about Jinjer is they are never ever boring. If you think they will zig they zag. The guys often write complex music and Tati writes deep meaningful poetry that just flows perfectly with it.
Not to distract you from Jinjer but If you don’t know them already I would highly recommend the band Unleash the Archers. Start with their full band play through of “Awakening”. They also have an amazing front woman. Britney is not a growler but is incredible nonetheless.

It looks like a warm welcome to the Jinjer world and the Jinjer rabbit hole 😁 You've probably come across the unicorn 🦄 named Tatjana, who in my opinion is the absolute spearhead when it comes to female front women in heavy metal as a whole Styles, range, techniques not only affect her ability to growl extremely, incredibly low and scream cleanly very high...And of course her incredibly beautiful, clean angelic voice! But it's even more impressive than on recordings and videos on the internet when you can see and hear the band Jinjer live on stage... Mega above-average talented musicians, all of their boys... Vladislav on drums, Roman on on the guitar and Eugen on the bass are amazing what they do with confusing rhythm, tempo, polyrhythmic, combining other musical styles jazz, R&B, funnk, rap, reggae influences with metalcore With pleasure! And the cherry on top is Tatjana with her incredible stage presence coupled with her incredible energy!!! It's best to explore its beginnings from Jinjer around 2011 step by step up to around 2019 to today! Pisces isn't fully live - it's been post produced. It's still all Tati, just layers added after to fill things out :)
Tati's female vocalist icons are 'Gwen Stefani' and 'Amy Whinehouse' - you can definitely hear the influence of Gwen in her cleans.
For her growls, she was inspired by 'Otep Shamaya'
Jinjer still add some subtle backing layers in their live performances.
Sasha Kardanov helps with this. He is their live sound engineer & technical director, and considered the 5th member of the band.

You should definitely do the one take vocal of Judgement & Punishment by Jinjer.
Doing the video for Vortex first, is the reason you are unsure. You have to work your way to it. Many started with Pisces, so by the time you get to Vortex you will be absolutely sure, it’s a great Jinger song. After I saw the Vortex video the first time I didn’t know how they could pull that off live on stage. There is a video of Jinger performing Vortex on stage. It was absolutely perfect!

Vortex is prog-Metal, many Jinjer songs have unique and changing time signatures. Once you catch them it elevates the song to another level, at least to prog fans. By the way Pisces is an astrological sign you kept calling it Pieces.

Pieces is usually the first one to ease you in, but One take Judgement and Punishment is easier on a first time listener!
In Pieces the drum clicks before the first harsh vocal is like a ticking time bomb 😂, it’s usual for reactors to stop when the clicks start and say how nice she sings and then 🤯🤯🤯

Vortex is a tough first listen. It's an odd song structure with no verse or chorus. The more you here it, the better it gets. One of my favorites is Cloud Factory live.
