    This was a very helpful video and so are the comments. I have a 2021 Silverado making the identical noise. Following on the comments, I took it to a mechanic and suggested the idler pulley was out. Turns out that’s exactly what it was. Thanks!

    Holy crap, that's the EXACT sound mine is making! The pitch rises in time with acceleration! Wow! Thanks! So maybe it's more simple than I thought, I was scared it was the trani!❤ Update-- it was the trani🥺 BUT, I found a really great guy down in Houston to rebuild it, and it cost way less than I thought it would😊

    Ive been watching this video and reading these comments for the last couple weeks looking for answers on my 2020 trail boss with 43k miles. Was having the same noise so i took it into the dealership to get everything looked at including the idler pulley and torque converter but where i live it has to sit at the dealership for 2 weeks before it even gets looked at so i went to pick it back up after a couple of days because i simply cannot be without a vehicle. Im the original owner so i still have the 560 warranty however i was sweating bullets because i had put a k&n intake on, so i went to go get it to put the stock one back on then take it back like a week later so i would not void the warranty. Turns out that the noise completely disappeared after i put the stock intake back on. It makes no sense to me how or why there should be sensors all over that tell me im getting either too much or not enough air. My advice is that if you have an aftermarket intake put the stock one back on first before you go drop any money on it.

    The issue with my 2021 Silverado 5.3 engine with 15,600 miles , was a bad tensioner pulley and serpentine belt . There’s no whining now . But I’m still saying , those type of issues normally happens miles down the road . I’m glad it wasn’t more serious.

    I took my belt off and started the truck and it still makes the noise, come to find out these trucks had a problem with the vacuum pump and that’s where my whine noise was coming from. So if anyone is wondering I would pull your belt off and if the noise continues I would start looking at the vacuum pump.

    For those who might care. I have a 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3 4x4 ltz. It was way to quite off the line for having an LS 5.3 so I cut the muffler and exhaust flap off and put a straight pipe in it's place it still comes out the passenger side behind the tire. IT SOUNDS AMAZING even with the automatic fuel management when it's in 4 cylinder mode its ok when I stomp on it or cold start. Its everything id expect and it sounds so aggressive!!!!!

    Ive watched this video 50 times and been reading all the comments trying to get an idea of whats going on with mine. Im sure homie has got it fixed by now but i just got mine fixed with the same exact sound, it was a transmission fluid pump that had failed. Easy fix for the dealership. However if you’re reading this and you have the same issue i hope you are the original owner because mine would have been $4500 if i wasn’t under the original warranty. Dont go tearing apart your idler pulley or some shit like that. Anyway, as of october ‘23 as i write this chevy has been on strike for 2 months straight now so parts are extremely hard to get. Luckily the area i live has a huge inventory. Inflation has gotten fucked too and made parts expensive. If you have the same issue hopefully you have the 5,60 warranty or know a skilled mechanic cuz I already know i wouldn’t have dropped 4500 on that shit. On top of it all it was driving fine too with no check engine light.

    • @CtrlAltDeln
      @CtrlAltDeln 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      This comment sounds the most correct to me. It sounds like power steering pumps used to sound when low on fluid.
      It is definitely a fluid pump sound.
      The only two fluid pumps on this truck are the oil pump and tranni fluid pump.
      My truck is making the same sound. 2 weeks after purchase.
      Does it also feel like it shifts down too early? Or like all the gears feel like 1st, as soon as you take foot off gas, the truck slows very quickly?
      Thanks all

    My truck just started having the same problem 2021 GMC sierra 38k miles. It goes in Saturday

  • @AsTheWheelsTurn
    @AsTheWheelsTurn ปีที่แล้ว +4

    my 2015 is doing something similar but not as loud , I just got the truck so I dont know if it is normal for a gmc to have some amount of engine whine like this or not, it sounds like the sounds a vehicle makes when the power steering pump is going bad or needs fluid but this truck only has 78,000 miles so I wouldn't think the power steering pump would be bad yet. it is under full warranty though, I guess I should just take it in! very annoying I have only had it for a week and already have found a few things that needed to be replaced/repaired.

    • @Chah18
      @Chah18 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Could be coming from the torque converter in the transmission, i got a 2014 sierra with 130k with a transmission that slips and my truck is starting to whistle on it, quite a few issues with the truck and only had it for a year.
      Not impressed with GMC

      @@Chah18 oup if your transmission is slipping your gonna need new one or rebuilt soon. My 2015 Sierra transmission blew out the other week. Now it's fixed and rebuilt but something is hissing around JLT hose I got or around the water pump

      @@tonysimpson6022 they said it was transmission, rebuilt the transmission and it still makes the noise.....but also now the transmission is not working right so I wonder if it is the torque converter . I do not know but it is expensive to find out so I will tell you when I find out so maybe save you some $ I am taking it back in the morning . it is very frustrating.

    Same noise on my 2014 gmc 4X4, 156k miles, but the truck has to be moving forward, pushing the gas pedal and then it would get louder as I go faster. Once I let go of gas pedal and it would cruz on its own , noise would go away? Doesn't makes noise when truck is at stand still or idle. Today I switched my 4x4 nob from Auto to 2^ and it suddenly went away?? What the hell?
