    Good stuff but there's another work-around for the dash cam 12v power. Most of these newer models have 12v's that are always hot on the front board but if you connect the power source to the 12'v's from the center console/behind seat it's only hot when the trucks is on. Just another solution vs. moving the fuse.

    The Silverado finally broke the camel's back. After a 5th rear window leak and dealer saying 'not our problem', I let it go and got a 2020 1794 with 25k miles.
    Bought the Chevy brand new in 2019. First year of new design and was awed by the styling and interior. It was lipstick on a pig. 1 week after I got it the infamous rear window leak appeared. 6 repair attempts and 2 yrs later, it was still leaking. The infotainment system was full of quirks and bugs, the transmission is all over the place trying to find the right gear, had a bad towing shake, and the tailgate wouldn't open reliably. Most dealer responses were 'cannot replicate'.
    Driving: there's no comparison to driving the Silverado vs the Tundra. The Toyota has better handling, better throttle response, better transmission shifts, and more power. The Chevy felt huge even though it was a 1/2 ton. It drove like a pig. The steering ratio, body roll, and trans response were awful. The Tundra 'feels' way smaller than it is. The Chevy mpg wasn't all that either. 19 mpg with stock tires. Putting on 285 tires dropped the hwy mpg to 14.
    Interior and infotainment: Tundra wins hands down. The 1794 trim is fantastic. Everyone who's ridden in the Tundra comments on the quality. The Chevy infotainment had so many bugs and quirks it almost wasn't worth using. Climate control regularly showed "Climate OFF" on the screen even though it was on, the radio would freak out sometimes and go full blast and then mute without any inputs, phone connection wasn't reliable. Plain black interior was underwhelming and the seats were awful for long trips (my whole family agrees).

    For some reason, every vehicle I have ever owned had "always on" dc power or had the battery symbol or key symbol to differentiate between the two. Comes in handy when you need your phone to charge, you can leave it in the truck while you run an errand. Fast forward many years and I find out this is literally some peoples bane! People fighting mad because they have an "always on" dc power outlet! Honestly, I did not know their were items that worked better like that. But what I was really surprised about was just how damn passionate people were about this feature! It compares to arguing about one's favorite pizza! But I am thinking that once you get used to it being one way or the other it is hard to get over it.

    From what I understand, US market vehicles that are able to roll windows down are not allowed to roll the windows back up remotely because it could catch a kids arm, dogs neck, ect.. and the owner might not be aware of what's happening. BMW's are same but can be "coded" to European feature sets which allow them to roll up with the lock button as well.

      Yeah but windows already have a safety switch that stops them from going up if something is in the way so wouldn’t that just stop the window. I mean still then the driver wouldn’t know the window didn’t go up unless it alerts you and then that could be bad. Plus how often are you out of you car and realize you have to wind up all your windows. Except rain. That would be nice

    My neighbor has a new Chevy. When we speak on the phone every now and then there's a godawful noise on my phone. I finally mentioned the piece of equipment he was near made some horrible loud noises and wondered what it was. He said there was no sound and he was driving down the road.
    We finally figured out when he applied the brakes there was this ungodly noise on my phone. Wow, very neat. Knock the ears out of whoever you speak with, no extra charge.
    If I could pay the price of my 93 K3500 long bed Xcab for another just like it I'd do it in a second. ABS you can unplug and defeat, every option I desire, mechanical injection on the Turbo Diesel and not one damned thing I can't fix myself. With Edelbrock. IAS performer shocks it rides like a Caddy but instantly becomes high performance cornering handling. Quiet and an R 12 ac you could keep meat like a fridge. Plus it looks better than any pickup made. More interior room than anything made since then. Progress is in the eye of the beholder. The trucks since have become sorrier and less durable.

    I’ve got a 2014 Silverado and I can cut my stability control off but it will cut on again at 35mph. Also, another feature is some of them have valet mode( don’t know if it’s common I just think it’s cool) basically if you don’t know already you can go into settings set a passcode and the truck will not go over 10 or 15mph and I think some other stuff when it’s engaged.

    • @tonyd3266
      @tonyd3266 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes - I added the Monster sub option and didnt want service techs popping my speakers. It disables the radio with a temp 4 digit code. now the GM dealer techs will need it off, but everyone else gets the valet mode !

    • @tonyd3266
      @tonyd3266 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also added the $150 GM digital lock for the cab. its like a ford convenience now. at festivals or anywhere my weekend would be ruined by a lockout - its the cost of one locksmith visit, minus the torn up trim. Also, if you lock yourself out and have your phone - you can start up onstar and they can remotely unlock your truck. we actually had a multiple code hack attempt to break in a busy rest area on I-95 that froze the locks. in like 15-20 they unfroze and accepted the code. it does integrate into the computer and also allways a quick 2key touch to lock all doors without keys or opening doors. its a no brainer.

    On my 2020 Silverado, there's an option on the "Information" screen for Transmission Temperature similar to tire pressure. Dealer said it didn't have that feature and I found it a month or two after I bought the truck. Not really hidden, just not there by default. Funny enough, we also have a Traverse and it IS on the information screen by default.
