    The fuel tank / throttle handle needs a Husqvarna top handle. If you use a Jonsereds fuel tank then you need the black straight across Jonsereds top-handle. The bolt patterns won't fit.

    Hey Iron Horse I've been watching your videos for a while and i figured its time I said hi. I don't comment very often, but it's time. I really like watching you work on saws and it makes me want to find a 266 like my father has. We did a lot of firewood when I was younger. I have a Stihl 362 to now and it's a great all around saw, but there is something about those old Husky's. I also wanted to comment on your vintage mx video. That brought back memories of some of the bikes I used to have. Anyways I just want you to know I love your videos and I'm glad your going to keep making them.

    It's going to be beautiful Harvey. It's the same cases but like what Austin Denotters' comment said. If you use a Husky rear handle and fuel tank the Jonsered top handle is a different bolt pattern. I believe they can be modified to fit though. Don't paint it let it's true colors shine Harvey!

    Ironhorse, I'm new to saw building and I've been researching it for quite a while now ( watching your videos and others). I must say your videos are a godsend to me because you years of experience puts me so much further ahead than trying to figure everything out myself. I really would like to get into sawbuilding myself, things like this interest me and the area I live in there's a need for it. I guess I just want to say thank you for your videos and maybe someday I can talk to you st an event like buckinstock or something like that.

    Harvey, if I wuz closer 2 U I would like 2 come and visit/relate/BS. U really know your way inside and out with saws. As U R, I am also an old school logger,saw fixer, I also have bunch of older like 90's and 00's, Huskys, Johnys, and Stihls. Mostly saws I smashed, run over, or blew up, on my own. Like 075, 660, 372, 385, 394, 395, 2171, and 2186. I do have a bunch of 660 Stihls, these logger friends from Kentucky gave me when I went down 2 visit them. I actually from West Central Wisconsin.

    A stupid question. Back in 86 I bought a new husky 154SE. Rebuilt stock with parts from Wolf Creek after a bad gas disaster. Just had another gas go-round. Now I can't find a cylinder and piston for it. I have bought two Stihl since, top handle and MS362. I want my Husky back ! For me, It is just a nicer saw. 100% stock and I have never seen another saw out cut it. It is the SE so the intake and exhaust are 90 degrees not 180. Thank you, Joe

  • @johnw5242
    @johnw5242 ปีที่แล้ว

    @9:28 If you keep track of what goes where while you're splitting the cases, you can, if you wish, thread each screw into the spot where it goes & take a picture. Because thise case halves are dead flat to one another, that picture makes it obvious which length goes where.
    Mistakinly putting too long a screw in the wrong spot then whacking it with a cordless drive can create a REAL heart-break situation when the result is ripped out threads, or blowing a chunk out of the boss the hole is in etc etc. - We all make rookie mistakes from time to time, but we don't have to make every one of them possible! :) At least, not the first time out!
    Anyhow, as always, thanks to @The Ironhorse. Hey, btw, have you given this video a thumbs up? Can you remember to do that for at least the vjds hou actually DO LIKE? It really does help out quite a bit, and it's just a quick click, or often not even that, but a little TAPPY TAP TAP on teh screen. It looms like this -----> 👍

    Yea, I put a 360 Stihl crank in backwards and had to split the cases and reassemble them correctly. Now, I double check which end is in before I put the crank in the cases.

    You, Buckin,and Tin Man have re inspired me. Just got done fixing the oiler on a PL4 Remington. Tomorrow I think I'll dig out the ol white and red holiday, clean the carb and see what I can do for a fuel line. Then I got a Tilton 420 that needs some attention. All that is a warm up to putting a new piston in my favorite saw ever. The ol 925 super XL. Might do some light porting on that one. I don't know though it would pull a chain dull in the oak before. Don't need that.

  • @johnclarke6647
    @johnclarke6647 ปีที่แล้ว

    The hardest thing for me when I built my Farmertec 372 two years ago was getting those damn circlips in the piston - they always are. My friend who is a Husqvarna tech out the chain break on for me. Stihl chain breakers I know how to assemble but the Husqvarna design is harder to figure out and assemble the first time.

    I have a 61, plus one in a box as parts to get going again. Are these Huskie 61/268/272 normally subject to corrosion of the cases and cast alloy covers? Mine seem to have a lot of dissolved metal - even holes right through the oil tank of the basket case... None of my Stihl saws have ever shown this sort of thing.

    I need to split an old magnesium Poulan. I had no idea I'd need the splitter tool. This project is quickly looking too expensive to make sense. I remade the little duckbill check valve and that didn't fix it. Smh 😏
