  • Used to split the crankcase on A Stihl MS-461. A basic homemade specialty tool, possible to build with common tools. Not as good as the right one, but it will work in a pinch.

Thanks so much for sharing how to make my own tool instead of having to buy one! Even if the factory tool isn’t that expensive I’d rather build my own if I already have the tools and ability. Also thanks for that cool little tip using O-rings to hold fasteners in place! I can see using that for many different applications where I’ve used rubber bands in the past, only to find the rubber bands dried and broken months or years later. Now I’ll swap tips with YOU and make your centering location more precise on any square or rectangular piece. Simply put a straightedge connecting opposite corners both ways, line with pencil or scribe and where the lines intersect is EXACTLY in the center of the piece! I also want to say I really appreciate how you zoom in very close in your videos. It makes understanding what’s going on much clearer.

Great tips and simple but practical build. I made a similar tool for my 359 Husky that attaches to the bar studs and worked fine. It wasn’t my original idea got it from mweba1. Enjoy your videos!
