This song was dedicated to a friend of Myles named Mark Morse who sold him his first guitar who died as the song was being written. The solos by Myles and Mark Tremonti are consider some of the best ever preformed. This tune is a classic.

@@bloodybutunbowed291 only if they did the Amsterdam one. I will NEVER understand why people pick the Wembley performance. Myles was very sick during that show and it shows in his vocals. It obviously wasn’t his fault but anyone who’s hearing this masterpiece of a song for the first time needs to hear it the way it’s supposed to be heard. So either studio or Amsterdam.

I love/like all alter bridge songs, honestly I don't dislike any of them. My favourite at the moment is "tear us apart" an underrated song that is really a little different to most of their stuff. But you can't go wrong with any if the songs you said.

My favorite part, other than climax of the song, is just a second later when you see Mark glance over at Myles and give him the approving nod and smile! At some point you should get the DVD of this whole show and watch/listen to it beginning to end. In fact, I may just have to gift it to you guys. Such a phenomenal concert, I so wish I could have been there to experience it live. I have seen AB live as well as Myles solo multiple times and they're always great, but this concert was just a magical, once in a lifetime, moment in time. Incredible!!!
Imo one of the greatest songs ever written a true classic, i hope ypu delve deeper into alterbridge and also lead guitarist marks solo band tremonti the music speaks for itself
FYI this solo was voted best solo in metal history.
There was definitely some recency bias in that result, but it's certainly up there as one of the best of the last twenty years. Tremonti is underrated because he was in Creed (a band I personally really like tbh)

Creed’s album “Weathered” starts off with 2 blistering tracks, “Bullets” and “Freedom Fighter.” Tremonti is amazing no matter which version of the band he’s in, whether Creed or Alter Bridge.
Don't forget his solo stuff.
Creed was the first band that made me want to learn all their songs. The guitar work was fantastic, tasteful, clean, raw. Tremonti as an amazing musician

This song is by far my favorite Alter Bridge song because it makes me think of my son who died of cancer when he was 3. I recently had a tattoo done that was inspired by the line, "Someday I too will fly and find you again." The image is a black bird in a tree that's being battered by a storm. To me, it conveys the idea of being left here to bear the storm of grief, but looking forward to the day when I see him again.
Dig deep into Alter Bridge. There is A LOT there and then dig into Tremonti. Mark Tremonti is the lead guitarist and backup singer for Creed, lead guitarist and backup vocal for Alter Bridge, abs the lead singer and lead singer for Tremonti

Myles grew up Babtist (his father is a Babtist minister). His music sometimes reflects this. hE DOES A SONG WITH David Dramin( sounds of silence).
I don't believe his father was Baptist. I don't recall now exactly what it was, but they didn't believe in medical treatment. If it was God's will He would heal you. His father chose not to get treatment for something very treatable and died as a result. This is what has led to Myles' struggles with organized religion and faith. You'll find these topics in much of Myles' songwriting as a result. The song Words Darker than their Wings represents a dialogue/conversation between Myles and Mark. They trade verses and the share the chorus together in harmony: "Into the light may you fall, into the light may you follow, into the light may you know truth alone."
His stepfather is a Methodist minister. And they are close.

I was just checking yesterday to see if you guys had done Alter Bridge and didn't find any. Now coincidentally you guys finally did it. Alter Bridge is one of my favorite bands of all time. Not only are they musical geniuses, but all of their songs have meaning, in a way that is unique and honest. And you're right, the full Blackbird album is an album that you can get lost in with many other beautiful gems. Literally any song from that album is worth a listen, like "Watch Over You", "Brand New Start", "Wayward One", among others. And music from their other albums are also amazing. They have no bad song, even their bonus songs are better than the singles of many other bands.

The problem with this song is that it's to short. I saw Lex enjoyed this gem from second one to the end. Truly you have started on the best front foot with this mega amazing band. I really can't give a suggestion what to follow this song. It is probably the most beautiful and saddest song ever written for a dear departed one. I love Alter Bridge and they are in my top five with Creed because they are one. Excellent review 👏👏👏👏

Myles Kennedy also was featured on some slash albums and in case you didn’t know slash is the guitar player of Guns N’ Roses… anyway they made some music albums that I recommend… if you decide to react to those artist combined music I recommend any song on the living the dream album… my top 4 on that album are my antidote… list inside the girl… the one you loved is gone and great pretender and I’ll throw in boulevard of broken hearts for extra credit

You guys should check out their guitarist Mark Tremonti's cover of Frank Sinatra's "I've Got You Under My Skin", performed with the surviving members of Sinatra's orchestra. He made it as part of a charity album to raise money and awareness for the National Down Syndrome Society.
Me and my sister always had the argument of who is the better vocalist, I always liked Dave Dramin from Disturbed the best and Myles second but it's a coin toss anymore,both are amazing.

OMG, Thank you for finally hitting this one! Been requesting this was one for so long, so much anticipation. I'm so glad you liked it, tho I really can't ever imagine someone not being blown away by their first time listen of this masterpiece. Please do yourself one more favor and watch a live performance video of this song. You'll get to see how good each member of this band really is. Plus, you'll get to see how good Myles is on guitar in addition to Mark Termonti. I just love how emotional and almost mournful and crying he is able to make his guitar sound at times. His sound/style is definitely a bit more bluesy, raw and emotional, while Mark has the incredible technical ability to just absolutely shred. So if you noticed there are 2 parts to the guitar solo. Part 1 Myles and part 2 is Mark. Trust me you are going to love this band!!! Can't wait for you to dive in to more of their catalog. Thanks! You guys are great! ❤️🔥🤘✌️

Just a breathtaking song...easily a top 5-10 song of all time for me
This song came out the same week my brother-in-law was killed in a plane crash, not long after that a good friend was murdered, last October my best friend died suddenly, this week I lost another friend, and this morning I woke up to the news about Taylor Hawkins passing. In my opinion this is one of the most beautiful songs ever written and every time I listen to it I am reminded of the loved ones lost too soon. But it gives me hope that they no longer have too endure this cruel world and that they have found peace. Too all those we have loved and lost along the way.
Alter Bridge is the same lineup as Creed with a different singer. Scott Stapp sings for Creed, Myles Kennedy is the singer for Alter Bridge. Other than that, all the other band members are the same.
Yet so much more.
Fyi - myles also writes approx half the songs and also plays lead and rhythm guitar - to add a completely different element than Creed music.
Plus Tremonti has evolved also and has freedom to shred when he wants!

in my opinion; as a guitarist who’s played for 24 years….Mark Tremontis solo in this song is the most magnificent piece of mastery I’ve ever heard. He’s in my top five. And his collaboration with PRS has produced some beautiful guitars with incredible tone.
If you keep going down the Miles Kennedy/Alter Bridge rabbithole, you absolutely need to do the live version of "Words Darker Than Their Wings" at Royal Albert Hall. An amazing song, Mark Tremonti (the guitarist who has his own separate band named after himself) provides part of the vocals, and it's one of the best live performances you'll ever see or hear (and it probably won't get blocked considering how many other reactors have covered it).
