    YES!! and Myles was sick during this performance just think if he was healthy!! The Amsterdam version has better vocals. But you HAVE to check out Words Darker than their Wings live at the Royal Albert Hall ft the Parallex Orchestra! It'll blow your mind!! Myles vocal range is incredible and you'll get to hear Mark Tremonti sing too ;)

    I was enjoying your take on the song just verbally, but THEN you go and totally blow my mind with that piano run, and you did it so effortlessly. I am highly impressed

  • @patfix

    The name comes from a bridge on Alter Road in Detroit, near the place where Mark Tremonti (guitarist) grew up. He wasn’t allowed to cross that bridge from his parents because on the other side was a ‘bad’ neighborhood.

    • @neznarfdvd
      @neznarfdvd 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I also like the metaphor that it's not only a bridge separating the 2 sides of the town but it's the bridge that brings them both together.

    • @MoonriseBlue
      @MoonriseBlue 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      And when Tremonti and company were disbanding Creed and starting up this new band, the name was a bit of a metaphor for going out and taking a chance, crossing into the unknown, etc.

    The picture on Mark's guitar is Dimebag Darrell Abbott.

    • @thommyjacobs8921
      @thommyjacobs8921 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      And it's so perfectly fitting that his pic is shown, on a gtr, during this exact song & with it's lyrical meaning + being played live...so good. RIP Saint Dime

    Now that is a proper reaction video. You have done your homework on the artist/band up front unlike so many other reviewers. You also added great contextual info duirng the video with your pop-ups. I love Alter Bridge and hope you do more of their videos, espeically anything from their live performance at Royal Albert Hall which was done with an orchestra. Tremendous DVD to get.

    I also would highly recommend Words Darker than their Wings (from RAB), its an incredible performance.
    I don't mean to be negative, but this is actually considered to be one of his weaker performances - this was at the end of a tour and in some places you can definitely hear it in his voice - though he still delivers amazing passion into the song. Another great reaction though!

It is still as emotional and as good as the first time I listened to it, the hair on the back of my neck still stands over a decade later. Perfection. You'll love anything of AB. My sister died last year. I’ll say, from mental illness, rather than spell it out. I felt destroyed as I drove the hour and a half home from the hospital. When I started feeling a little more composed, I turned on the radio and after the last part of an ad, this song came on. I had heard it before but had never paid much attention to the lyrics. As he sang, I really listened. I became hysterical and had to pull off the toll road. I sat there on the side of the highway and put it on repeat on Spotify and bawled my eyes out.
    I will forever more be very connected to this song.
    Let the wind carry you home
    Blackbird, fly away
    May you never be broken again
    The fragile cannot endure
    The wrecked and the jaded, a place so impure
    The static of this cruel world
    Cause some birds to fly long before they've seen their day
    Long before they've seen their day
    Let the wind carry you home
    Blackbird, fly away
    May you never be broken again
    Beyond the suffering you've known
    I hope you find your way
    May you never be broken again
    Ascend, may you find no resistance
    Know that you made such a difference
    And all you leave behind will live to the end
    The cycle of suffering goes on
    But the memories of you stay strong
    Someday I too will fly and find you again

    You sir, are the kind of person I wish was my music teacher. I self taught myself basic guitar/bass/drums and was involved in my high-school rock band program from grade 7-11 (very small town highschool) and you seem like the kind of person that I could have 1, learned a lot from, and 2, not given up after a large number of other people basically ruined performing and even just playing to my self, for me. I recently bought another guitar, and trying to pick it back up again, but after almost 7 years of not playing good lord I'm back at square 1. Love these videos. Very glad I stumbled upon you.
